Not exactly breaking news, but this bit from Jake Gyllenhaal that Heath Ledger wouldn't make jokes about "Brokeback Mountain" makes Ledge look respectful and gracious. I remember that the movie, beautifully performed and directed, still made people think gay jokes were a laff-riot. Good for Heath standing up for his art and his humanity.
Heath Ledger also did Jake Gyllenhaal. In the ass.

I did not like Heath Ledger in his role as “Joker”.

Ledger was going bald *fast*, maybe it was better for him to die young rather than inflicting the inevitable transplant/hairpiece on us all.

R3, you may want to message Ben Affleck with the same advice.

You're absolutely right on this one, OP. Good for Heath.
I remember a decade or so ago when an effort started in the media to call out "gay" jokes, even passing references like "that's so gay!" that had been deemed innocuous and harmless. Many people at the time, particularly writers and comedians, thought this was going overboard and was unnecessarily PC (to use that dreaded term). And heaven forbid, limiting free expression. Because the Jerry Seinfelds and Kevin Harts must have their freedom to make dumb gay jokes, no matter what.
A decade later? I hear a lot less "that's so gay!" in film and TV. I see a lot more diverse representation in media, including LGBT representation. And all that actually affects the way people think, particularly young people.
Fuck the Seinfelds and the Harts. Give me happy healthy LGBT kids.

Heath Ledger also started in Casanova directly after this so no one would think he was...you know.
