Happy birthday Bette Davis!

Today I was supposed to be in LA on vacation. I had tix to the WB classic movie tour and I was longing to walk in the footsteps of Bette, Joan and Olivia. Then I was gonna go to the cemetery next door and have a smoke at Bette’s grave and wish her a happy birthday. Then El Coyote for dinner with beloved friends.

Today instead I’ll celebrate with a BD movie marathon.

Fuck off, bitch.

by Anonymousreply 1April 5, 2020 2:39 PM

Sorry you’re still a dead bitter bitch, Joan. Calm down and go listen to Vogue. You know, the song that doesn’t mention you.

Lol so cute to have a smoke by Bette's grave in her memory x

by Anonymousreply 3April 5, 2020 2:47 PM

What movies are you planning to watch, OP?

by Anonymousreply 4April 5, 2020 2:48 PM

Thank you for not forgetting me!!

r2 I'm sorry, B. You are correct and I was out of line. Let's sit down and hash out our feelings over a glass of Pepsi.

Claude Rains said she was the sort of woman who put a man on a pedestal so she could knock him down. We all know someone like that.

by Anonymousreply 7April 5, 2020 2:55 PM

Another fucking birthday?!

R2 Madonna messed up by not mentioning Crawford in Vogue.

Joan Crawford was thee Movie Star back in the day.

by Anonymousreply 9April 5, 2020 3:22 PM

You mean Forest Lawn-Hollywood Hills?

by Anonymousreply 12April 5, 2020 3:33 PM

The Petrified Forest is good, if you haven't see it.

by Anonymousreply 13April 5, 2020 3:34 PM

Yes r12 it’s next to WB.

by Anonymousreply 14April 5, 2020 4:36 PM

A nice ciggy might be enough to rouse Bette.

by Anonymousreply 15April 5, 2020 5:11 PM

Fe-Fi-Fo-Fum. Who's got a smoke I can bum?

by Anonymousreply 16April 5, 2020 6:25 PM

I agree. It’s ridiculous she put in Joe DiMaggio in the song just because he was married to Monroe. He wasn’t an actor yet everyone else mentioned in the song is. Made no sense.

Your devotion is sweet OP. Nobody deserves it more. She was a one of a kind person and movie star (when that term really meant something.)

Hope you have "Now, Voyager" and "Dark Victory" on your list. BTW "The Little Foxes" is one of her best performances. There is a scene in there that blows me away every time I watch it and I've seen it 3 or 4 times.

Hope you can reschedule your trip as it sounds terrific.

Any suggestions where Madge could have inserted Joanie into Vogue?

by Anonymousreply 20April 12, 2020 10:49 AM

"and Monroe.... Something something Crawford Joan."

Its clunky but so are 99.9% of her lyrics. Not to mention, no one thought of DiMaggio as glamorous--with or without Monroe--and that's what the rap is all about. Whoever really wrote that rap is a moron in that one respect.

"and Monroe.... Mommie Dearest Crawford Joan."

Were you planning on visiting May's Crenshaw (now Macy's) so you could stomp down the same escalator as Miss Davis did in THE STAR?

In which case a gin-fueled drive down Sunset Boulevard would be required as the next tour stop.

Lauren, Katherine, Crawford too..

Nobody gives a shit about Lana.

by Anonymousreply 25April 12, 2020 4:22 PM

A friend and I visited Bette's grave once, and had a smoke and a drink in front of it. I'm sure Bette would've approved.
