"Station 19" Question

A little of off topic: is Station 19 any good? I rarely watch TV, but Lachlan Buchanan and I have played Words With Friends for years now, and I’m curious to know whether or not I should watch it.

It's Grey's Anatomy but with firefighters. That's all you need to know.

R1, you should watch. DIdn't know Lachlan (Emmet) was Australian until Wiki. There was a scene with Travis in the shower room.

OP, Jonathan Bennett plays Travis' husband in flashbacks. I believe we will learn more about their history.

Since Jonathan Bennett only makes one appearance as the late husband, in the recent snowstorm/flashback episode, I don't think we will see more of him. So I guess the husband was already dead when the series started

I've just started watching the show on Hulu, just the last half dozen episodes or so, and it's easy to fast forward through the other stories to get to the gay stuff. Unlike Grey's Anatomy, the gay guy is one of the main characters, not just some side scrap.

I recommend the snowstorm episode, and the episode described as an uncomfortable lunch. Then you will be basically up-to-date on the current gay storyline.

Yes, he was seen in a flashback in a recent episode and yes he died before the series started.

Travis' husband had recently died when the show first started. He was still grieving & had recently returned to work after his death.

I was reading the early plot summaries, and I'm sorry I missed Marla Gibbs as a guest star, setting up her nephew or grandson with Travis.

That Marla Gibbs, now over 90, is a treasure.

Anyone know why they killed off Ryan? He was so hot. Did the actor want to leave or did the writers just figure his story had run its course?

No gay stuff on last night's show, unless you consider two of the lesbians making out as gay.

R14 Once again the lesbians get a LOT of scenes of them making out, in bed together etc. While the gays barely get any screen time, let alone scenes showing affection. What a surprise.

I just watched the episode where Emmett came out. It was well done imo. Still wish Emmett and Travis would get more screen time though, at least as much as the lesbians.

Emmett and Travis have some unfinished story lines, such as Emmett coming out to his father, and breaking up with his fiancée...

Also, they did have a nice shower scene when they first met, and maybe a little bit here and there, but certainly not anything recently. Travis has put him on hold until he sorts out his closet

I like both characters individually but the lesbians have ZERO chemistry.

And now Andy is having doubts about Sullivan. They spent an entire season denying their feelings for each other. Now they're married and she is thinking of her ex Jack.

Lame.

Wait... so not only did the lesbians get WAY more screen time, including kissing and sex, than the gays, now they wrote Travis' boyfriend off the show? Fuck this shit. Once again there's a double standard. I'm so sick of this shit. Travis and Emmett's scenes were always really tame compares to the hot and steamy lesbian scenes. To add insult to injury they made Travis' boyfriend quit so we will never see him again. LOL. Why do I watch this show again? It's total bullshit.

The show needs to stop trying to make Jaina Lee Ortiz the star. She's just not strong enough an actress to lead the show.

Danielle Savre is a much stronger actress as Maya And Maya is the more interesting character. Every scene Herrera is in I don't care about her plight.

Thank You!! I find Andy so off putting. There is nothing about her I like & the fact they have had 3 different hot men fall for her in 3 years is fucking ridiculous. Maya is a much more compelling character & the actress is very good. I wanted her to slug her father tonight.

The girls made up, but the boys broke up.

Emmett told Travis that he loved him, and Travis said that he was sorry that he did not love him back.

But they did kiss a few times.

You have obviously never watched a soap. Emmett told Travis he loved him. Travis said he didn't love him but then Emmett said "I don't believe you"

Travis fucked him last night & again this morning. He volunteered that info. Travis is running from commitment because of the loss of his partner but he finally took the plunge with Emmett & he's scared and walling up his emotions.

Next year we'll see them move forward.

For the record:

In their last scene together this season, Travis and Emmett are outside on the deck of the houseboat.

Emmett: Look, I know I have a lot to learn about pretty much everything. But you got me here and I couldn't have done this without you. And I owe you so much, I admire you so much and I'm so grateful for you, Travis. I love you.

They kiss for a moment or two.

Travis: I..um...I am really happy for you, you know, for how far you've come, for all this life that you have ahead of you. And I am really sorry that I don't love you back.

They briefly kiss again.

With tears in his eyes, Emmett says, "Yeah, me too..." and walks back inside.

Travis stands there with a sad look on his face.

In the coming attractions for the next episode, it looks like Emmett is back to testify about another character’s drug use…
