Florida and Georgia: What's It Like Having to Deal with the Two Worst Governors in the Country?
Ron DeSantis and Brian Kemp both narrowly won their states in hotly contested elections in 2018. And by hotly contested, I mean they won by cheating, (I thoroughly believe this). They defeated Stacey Abrams and Andrew Gillum, respectively. (yeah, we know what became of Gillum afterwards).
What is currently happening and about to happen in these states, (because of DeSantis' and Kemp's overwhelming stupidity and ineptitude), will result in many extreme cases and deaths from Covid-19. Deaths that most likely would have been avoided if Democrats Abrams and Gillum and been at the helm.
About as close to worst-case scenarios as can be.
So are there any DL'ers there that can report what it's like and if this is being discussed? Thanks.
(linked is one of many articles depicting the elections)

I'm in Georgia. Kemp has pretty much destroyed his political career over his handling of the pandemic. He finally decided to order a statewide stay at home order, lying that they had only learned a day before that people infected but with no symptoms could indeed transmit the virus. Now just a couple of days later the stupid bastard has reopened Georgia's beaches. I hope most people have better sense than to go to the beaches. The experts have said the beach and the surf are the worst places to be now as the virus is in the water and the spray from the surf can infect people.

I cannot stand him Kemp. I voted for Abrams in 2018, and encouraged family and friends to do them same which they did. I was really disappointed when Stacy lost the election. But I don't blame her, she was clearly cheated out of the governorship.
Kemp is beyond corrupt.

I believe the one good thing about CV19 is that it is rapidly revealing the corruption and ineptitude of Republican politicians all over the country. Before this is over even most deplorables will have felt the ramifications of these people's lies and stupidity. There won't be enough truly cretinous deplorables left to keep most of the fool Republicans in offfice.

R4 That is un-fucking-believable!! But please explain, if he issued a stay-at home order, how was he able to reopen the beaches? I read the linked article but still don't understand.
My ex's 85yr old mother lives right off the beach in St Simons Island. I've been checking on her every three days or so. This really concerns me.
Thanks.

How? Just by saying so I guess. He reports to no one in this situation so basically I assume he can do whatever he wants. He'll pay, don't worry. As I said before, I just hope most people have better sense and keep their asses at home.

I would hope that when both states reach a late peak of death and infections after being very lax, people will see the light but, man, that Rethuglican thought process is hard to break. These fuckers need to be deprogrammed.

Deprogramed or dead. I choose the latter for these twisted fuckers.

You say that, but watch Georgia relect him.

They didn't (or barely) elect(ed) him the first time.

Even Republicans in Fforida think DeSantis is entirely incompetent.

As opposed to Cuomo who did nothing to prevent the total mess NY is in now. Then he bitches and cries how unfair it is every other government and state doesn't hand everything over to NYC for free?

R6, that would be a triumph of hope over experience.

It sucks. But I'd still rather live in Georgia than Mississippi.
