I'm pretty sure the highest divorce rate (among denominations) is Southern Baptist and that sort of thing: "Divorce rates among conservative Christians were significantly higher than for other faith groups, and much higher than Atheists and Agnostics experience."

That's just one piece of data that might suggest they're not all that happy.

BUT, thinking in black-and-white terms has its consolations. My partner's mother grew up a conservative Southern Baptist farm girl. I used to think of her as a mean Christian, she was so quick to jump on you for being ungodly. She's in her 80s now and mellowed quite a bit. Turned on GW Bush in favor of Obama because she wised up to repukes wanting to cut Social Security and Medicare. Never lost her judgmental edge, though. Still a hard critic you don't want to cross. That's why I avoid her.

My kids would have never held my hands at that age, like they are in the photo. By the time they could cross the street safely, or didn’t get lost in a crowd, that ended.
