NYC -Number 2 Trained PACKED During Rush Hour April 2, 2020
We're all going to die, aren't we?
Keep in mind these are most likely all essential workers, so they have to choice if they want to eat. But reduced service and sick MTA workers means we're all kind of fucked.
Have Cuomo or De Blasio addressed the transit situation?

I was at the grocery today and people were hacking. I know everyone needs groceries, but they do have curbside service there.

The cunts at MTA should all take paycuts! No more increasing fares!
I was at the supermarket and one of the workers was coughing...he was wearing a mask but still...

The NYC subway system is by far one of the biggest elephants in the coronavirus room. It’s a dangerous necessity; and if you’re an essential worker using the service while trying to get to work, I applaud you to high heaven, for getting on these trains.

Based on the data at R3, it looks like Trump country could take a big hit in the weeks to come.

The rest of the country will probably flatten their curve, even New York. But the South is going to Rise Again... And bring this nation to deaths door. Thanks! MAGA! Winning! I guess getting covid-19 and dying will allow them to Be Best at something.

What do the "old/weak" have to do with hundreds of idiots cramming together on a train, in the age of "social distancing."
It's just irresponsible and stupid as fuck, and the old/weak are the ones who have to suffer for it.

R9 These “idiots “have to do this , not everyone can drive!

Nobody wants to be on that train, asshole. Do they look like they are on a joy ride? How else are your hospital workers, grocery store workers, delivery men, supposed to get to work?
The people on this thread must have never traveled to New York or they'd know the subway is the only to get around for most people. Especially working people.

I haven't taken the subway in over 2 months.

Blaming people for using the NYC subway is only possible if you have never used the NYC subway. There are people on that train with masks. There are people on that train with service jobs. There are people on that train who would rather be anywhere else.
What do you want them to do? Trust Trump to pay them a big fat check to stay home? Figure that the lights and sewers and supermarkets and social services will run themselves? Grow wings and fly? Sprout a personal limousine service- TV and a wet bar, seats 15?

These are essential workers who have to go into the city. That isn't an image of people running/hanging in the park. No one gets on a subway for fun these days - everything is closed. It's people going to work.

At least most of them are wearing masks. Guess mask wearing is gonna be a thing outside Asia now

People traveling to an “essential” job is not worth all the unnecessary deaths it is causing. The trains need to be completely shut down and if the work is truly essential, the employers can arrange other transportation or other lodging.

That's simply not feasible. You think hospitals, grocery stories, bodegas have enough money to ferry their employees in Ubers and taxis?

There really isn't any easy solution to mass transit mess. MTA cut service because of a huge drop in ridership on subways, plus a worker shortage brought about by people calling out ill. Piled onto this MTA subway and bus workers are coming down with Covid-19 as well.
R14 nails it!
People still taking subways are service, healthcare and other workers who either must work because they are deemed essential, or for economic purposes they simply cannot take off two or more weeks without pay.
For instance many home health aides are being told to report as normal to the homes as assigned. This even in cases when family who otherwise would be at work are home to care for the elderly or whatever patient. If these aides don't go in, they won't get paid.

Same thing in Chicago, they reduced bus and train service. To be fair it does make sense from an economic standpoint.
But that just means more people on the trains. The homeless don't care one way or another, so they will sit right next to you.
And remember 8,000 New Yorkers are now recovered from coronavirus and are immune, they don't have to social distance anymore.

I hope you are not referring to the people on that train r1.
They don't want to be on the subway, but they have to get to their jobs and they have no choice.

What reliable medical source has confirmed that once you get it you can’t get it again and you’re immune from it? I haven’t seen anything definitive on that other than speculation.
