Evacuate the Dancefloor vs Just Dance
With the recent revelation that Natalie Horner, lead singer of Casacada, has contracted COVID-19, it made me remember how much I love Evacuate the Dancefloor. It was a bigger hit in Europe (obviously) than stateside, but it was also compared to then-newcomer’s first hit “Just Dance”. There are some similarities between these two gay ass songs that I love so much.
Which song is better? Personally, I think Just Dance has the better video, but Evacuate the Dancefloor is a better song.

Loved Cascada. Such a reminder of that era.

I love both, but Poker Face is better than both of them.

Evacuate came on the radio the other day. I think it was a pretty big hit in Australia too. I'd forgotten about it. But Just Dance is the superior song imo.

She contracted covid? I hadn't heard, hopefully she's ok now.
Cascada puts me in mind of such a specific time in my life, fresh out of university and on my typical-for-Australians rite-of-passage; that is, moving to the UK. Her songs were everywhere then, and even though I found them kinda cheesy and dated (they are very German 90s euro-disco) they were kinda endearing too. I mean the video to A Neverending Dream just looks like a girl getting her friends together on a sleepover to make up choreography and pretend they're famous, if you get me. But it's sweet, and she always seemed lovely. It's funny but I think I've probably listened to Evacuate the Dancefloor and Just Dance pretty much the same amount. Putting EtD on now, the memroies!
That was such a good time in life and those songs make up a big part of the soundtrack to it.

Casandra looks like she needed to spend some more time on the dancefloor -- doing cardio.

Cascade could be anybody. They all sound like that now. But Gaga can sing and does have a "sound" that is instantly identifiable.

Never heard of her. She looks like Britany Spears older sister.
But song is cool.

I hope there's a resurgence of unabashed dance pop music like this in the next couple of years. If we can dump Trump and kick Covid not too long after, I think a lot of people will feel like dancing.

I'm really missing the melodic side of pop music, so I agree with you R17.

Which helps people immediately skip to the next song.

I only discovered A Neverending Dream was actually a cover of a 90s song a few months ago.

I discovered Evacuate the Dance floor in one of the music loops of my gym. Like it. I read someone said she's not fat, she's German!

I liked both songs back in the day.
I assumed “Evacuate” ripped off that RedOne boomy kick drum sound since it was released, what, like a year after “Just Dance”?
