I’m a woman and I don’t wear it most days because I look the same with it as I do without it. What you see is what you get.

I think Zooey Deschanel looks cute without makeup.

But yeah... 99% of famous people need the help of their magicians (stylist, make up artists, hairdresser) to look fuckable. And there are the hopeless cases like Lady GaGa who is just plain ugly no matter what.

Considering most of these comparisons photos are of people at their absolute tiredest, mid-breakout and caught in mugshot lighting, most look pretty freaking good. You can tell all the beautiful features are still there

They are rare creatures but they do exist in nature. I knew one many years ago. Absolutely stunning beauty. She had beautiful skin, great teeth and the most incredible eyes I've ever seen. They were a combination of dark blue/light blue and she had these long, thick eyelashes. There's a name for it when they're double thick but I don't remember what it is right now. Always wore her hair short because it did look best on her and she did add highlights.

Never needed or used a speck of makeup either.

Of course, there are plenty of younger women who look pretty without makeup. However, the expectation - the standard of beauty itself - requires an appearance that few women can achieve without it.

It's like asking whether men can have hot bodies without going to the gym. Sure, there are some naturally fit an lean guys. But, the standard is for abs and well-developed muscles in order to be ripped.

As a practical matter, I'm sure there is some evolutionary biology reason having to do with mating and aging that makes women less desirable as they get older and lose the flush of youth. Whereas men who've been dominant longer are better mating candidates or some such thing, but in turn become less desirable as mates when they begin to decline physically due to age.

R56 Maybe women should stop being required to wear makeup in movies. If they stopped and showed how they really look regular, everyday girls would stop putting undue pressure on themselves to look as good as someone who has a professional makeup and makeup artist.

I always thought it was unfair that men can go without makeup and not look like they just recovered from an illness. I'm talking in the office world, not Hollywood. There's this early 60s straight guy at my work blessed with rosy cheeks and eyelids and fine Caucasian features. Gorgeous for the midwest.

It's not just makeup, it's grooming: cleanliness, styling of hair, clothes, shoes. The answer is, very few people look good or their best, without grooming or styling. It's what separates us from bag people.

I have a friend who is extremely beautiful with makeup and ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,merely beautiful............ without. And she doesnt spend that much time on her looks nor had any plastic surgery and she is 55. She works out and has low body fat and stays out of the sun, but that is it.

Some people just don’t age well. I am one of those people. I’m British/Irish/Scandinavian by heritage and my skin looks its age for a 42-year-old white guy—and that is not a good look. I also have terrible acne scarring and was, uh, blessed to inherit my dad’s peculiar lots-and-lots-and-lots-of-moles situation. So as a gay guy, I’m aesthetically disabled. To me, natural beauty is clear and smooth skin, no matter the color or features.

Some people are just naturally blessed and the rest of us do what we can to make the most of what we’ve got.
