We really are flogging a dead horse here. Either Charles is paying or he settled a lump sum on Harry when Harry made it clear he isn't coming back, EVER, and the rest of the family made it clear they'd rather go to the Tower than spend another moment in Meghan Markle's company, or the UK taxpayer is on the hook and Meghan and Harry simply lied.
They've been skewered, rightly, across the board except for a few die-hard journos like Briony Gordon and Omid Scobit (who isn't really a journalist at all, and has built his career on being Markle's poodle), for their hypocrisy, opportunism, shallow values, and disgraceful behaviour toward the Queen, the BRF, and Britain itself.
They've done themselves no favours from the moment Meghan got that engagement ring on her finger. From Tiaragate on, she couldn't control her impulses toward self-aggrandisment, absolute control, contempt for her marks, and disregard for anything but her personal agenda.
In my view, they've paid a heavy price for it all, and that price will become heavier as times goes on, washes over the virus and everything else in its path, as time always does, and William and Kate move forward to their high status destiny and Meghan and Harry get left behind by a public tired of hearing about them and from them because they cut themselves off from the only thing that gave their existences any lustre.
That last said, the Harkles, especially Meghan, will be far better off than most of the rest of us, having had the good fortune to be indulged by Harry's benighted Papa and Gran, to have guaranteed incomes, even if not as high as the greedy Meghan would like, and they'll probably be fine in terms of the conditions of their lives. Meghan finally has what she's always wanted, A-list celebrity at the epicenter of vulgarity. Because, at heart, that's what she is: vulgar.
Meanwhile, even Meghan's voice-over for the Disney Elephant documentary has met with lukewarm reviews (see today's TIMES, Express, Telegraph). Even the Guardian, which only gave the piece 3 stars and did its noble best to Support The Woman Of Colour No Matter What, seems to be trying too hard.
Meghan couldn't even make a smash hit of that. I wonder what the Disney corporate capos are thinking, looking at those reviews.
