Soon- Betty Crocker Super Moist Yellow Cake with Ho-Made Dark Chocolate Buttercream(REAL Butter) Frosting.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | March 28, 2020 7:55 PM |
R5, That sounds like perfection.
I do the same thing. I am cool with a cake mix, but frosting is always homemade.
I prefer the old fashioned Hersheys Cocoa Icing Recipe!
by Anonymous | reply 6 | March 28, 2020 7:56 PM |
That what I use r6!
I use Hershey's "Special Dark" Cocoa Icing Recipe. The frosting turns out pitch black in color, but, who cares?
I love banana cake too, so, if available, and I' want that flavor, I'll mix in a couple of overripe crushed bananas to the cake batter.

HOLY FUCK!!!!! ME TOO!!!!!!!!!
It is so funny. In 1996 I was visiting my friend at Duquesne University. I had gotten my first credit card and stayed at The Westin William Penn.
I nailed an awesome hotel room- back then the windows even opened! 18 years old. I thought that hotel was the BALLS.
Anyway, I went full out and ordered room service on my new Citibank card with the $1200.00 limit.. I ordered the chocolate cake- It was clearly the Hersheys Cocoa recipe- It was OUTSTANDING.
So ever since then, that is my chocolate cake of choice. Simple and perfect.

Me too, r8. I have carb and sugar issues. My brain lacks a shut-down mechanism, just like when I used to drink alcohol. One drink, no shutting it down, Same with sugar.
Oh well.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | March 28, 2020 8:13 PM |
Oh and I forgot to add r8, You're a good writer. I enjoyed reading of your hotel escapade.

Licking, tasting, sensory overload- YES!
by Anonymous | reply 12 | March 28, 2020 8:23 PM |
By myself, as usual. A loner. Live in a tiny efficiency near Boston.
Annie's four cheese box of macaroni and cheese, with unsalted butter and low-fat milk. Added a no salt added can of peas to it.
Not living in luxury or with a partner like the stereotypical Data Lounger. So, kind of a sad image, no? Proper gays are supposed to live upscale, right?
But it's sufficient -- and I'm sufficient.

Marie Callender Mini Coconut Cream Pie. It's surprisingly good.
They were BOGO at Publix last time I was there. I stocked up and now have an assortment of mini Chocolate Satin, Key Lime and Coconut Cream. I'm set for a long while in the pie dept.

by Anonymous | reply 19 | March 28, 2020 8:34 PM |
R13- You are more than efficient. I lived in Boston for 2 years on Beacon Street (163 Beacon? I do not remember, but that's close) (2007-2009) in a good sized studio (That place must be 3200 now, I paid 1600 then)
I love Boston efficiencies.
Beautiful building. I was very lucky and had no idea.
You are MORE than efficient.

Any frosting, r15? Just wondering. Not everybody likes it. I do.

Jesus Christ Della, you and I are on some kind of cosmic end of the world wavelength today. Crazy!

Those waxy mini donuts in a bag.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | March 28, 2020 8:37 PM |

Its ALL frosting!

R25 you ruined it with the Diet Coke

I think cabbage soup sounds divine, r26. It's a chilly, grey early Spring twilight here, just when soup tastes the best.

Tube Steak or Pie.
It’s DL, after all.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | March 28, 2020 8:56 PM |
Trader Joe’s smoked trout. I buy it, but then always put off eating it although I enjoy it when I do. It’s always after the date and I was basically “it’s use it or lose it time” and as food is running low I can not not eat. But it was good.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | March 28, 2020 8:58 PM |
What's a tube steak?
by Anonymous | reply 36 | March 28, 2020 8:59 PM |
Fried egg sandwich. Probably sounds gross to most people, but it's one of my comfort foods.

Crab salad - just some flaked imitation crab meat, Old Bay seasoning, Hellman's mayo, and diced celery. I got it chilling in the fridge. Not sure what I'm going to serve it on/with though in the meantime.

BOGO means Buy One Get One (free). It's a term common in the UK, not common in the US.

The only thing I'm having for dinner is a glass of WATER. I'm trying to lose weight.
Do I type fat?
by Anonymous | reply 51 | March 29, 2020 12:46 AM |
Sweet potato and black bean soup. I can't do the junk food, the inflammation makes my seasonal allergies go wild and I like to work in the garden for hours every day.

Baba ganoush, Mediterranean pita chips, Folgers instant coffee with raw sugar and half and half, and ice water. That's correct, I live in Seattle (& have done since 1972) and I drink Folgers instant coffee. I have all the heavy equipment like a French Press and a coffee grinder. But it's so much easier to boil the water in the kettle and there's no messy cleanup!
Now that virus mania has swept upon us, my local QFC has snack stuff on clearance. The only benefit to this fucking social distancing. It's starting to make me mashuga, goils...

Nuttin' right now - but having dinner later: pan-fried thin steaks, fries, onion rings, creamed spinach and salad. All home-made by my hubby. I'm one luck fucker...

Basmati rice. I have been having terribly disrupted sleep for the last couple of weeks and barely been eating. In the past I've found that rice helps me sleep. Hopefully it will work.
