The U.S. definition of what is "racist" has narrowed - i.e. saying Corono-virus is the Chinese virus is not racist - it is, in fact, from China. MERS (Middle-East Respiratory Syndrome) was totally accepted as a past deadly virus. Trump is not racist - yes, there are people who support him that are regrettably racist. The Green Book movie demonstrated horrible true racism - it would be nice to think it's gone but likely it never will be completely eradicated.

You really need to ask this after viewing the news for just the past 2 weeks?

I think it's not so much dumber than more ignorant. I know even from my profession that there are many things i don't know. However what I do know is a lot more than the vast majority of the public. And I've added knowledge too. Like I know why the Bell System is no longer, or how the technology evolved. Or recipes that I like. Or how to build electronic circuits. All of that I learned. But do I know how to cut my own hair, or the like? No.

Could I - with enough study I probably could. But I have no interest in that. Same with law - I know how to lookup and understand law but I'd prefer to let the experts handle it.

If you do any digging into basically any past historical event in the U.S. -- Prohibition is a good one, so is sufferage -- you'll find there has always been this awful core group of about 30% to 35% selfish idiots. They're usually allied with some conservative movement and far-right religious organization.

Their agenda often succeeds because so many regular, everyday people are also selfish, and they don't want to have to change their habits, do any research, sacrifice even small things, be bothered with anything, etc.

It's a cycle we repeat over and over again. People say Trump is the worst president but wow have we had some DOOZIES when it comes to incompetent, corrupt and stupid. Hoover! Jackson! McKinley!

So over all no, I don't think we're dumber, I think we just can't get out of this cyclical rut and I don't know if we ever will.

Since there are more total people, there are obviously going to be more dumb/ignorant people.
