BRIGHTBURN (2019)
It has been awhile since I watched a horror movie that actually scared me, probably since Silence of the Lambs. And even that movie didn't scare me all that much. But THIS movie scared the shit out of me. It also lingered with me long after I had finished watching it. It's ostensibly a Superman origin story, except in this case, the Clark Kent character is a child sociopath.
The fact that it is framed as a fantasy gives the movie cover to implicitly raise several uncomfortable questions about children with personality disorders. And it doesn't really answer any of them, which is what I found so jarring.
Anyway, if you are fan of horror and love high-quality jump scares. check this movie out. It has been sorely underrated up to this point but I think it will one day be regarded as a genre classic.

I was underwhelmed by it. It could've been so much better. There was no "struggle". He was just like...cool evil now.

Why did there need to be a "struggle?" Perhaps he was just simply evil. Some children are just that, whether we want to admit it or not.

No character arc. Even Damien had a character arc. The ending with the mom was cool though

Didn’t James Gunn make this and hired the same actors. Enough with superhero movies!

I would say this is the feel-bad movie of the year. Sorta like how Parasite is the feel-bad movie of this year.

Is there going to be a sequel?

I liked the movie but did feel a little like R1, that it could have been even more than it was. I appreciated the sly touches here and there, like the shot of him in his blue pajamas and red blanket. Overall it was a clever idea in search of better execution.

I dozed off. The kid was more annoying than terrifying though.
