Is this an okay paradigm in which to contact those people who you're been madly in love with for decades but couldn't be with for REASONS just to make sure they're okay? Especially if they work in healthcare...?

It’s ok, but based on my experience these past few days, don’t get your hopes up for a response.

Absolutely! Make the call and let us know how it went.

OP, are you our resident RN, John?
Well, if so, know that I think about you every day, & I say a little prayer for you...

I’m afraid. And wary of setting myself up for…I’m not sure what, some kind of disappointment or worse, I guess. Fixating.

He doesn't care.
Don't bother.
It's just extra heartache for you.
Don't do it.

R4, just call your person. You’re not going to be disappointed by at least trying. You will never know unless you try.
People make so many excuses to stay alone, and not try things out. I don’t know why.
I understand being scared, because I also become scared, but that doesn’t mean I lock myself up, and don’t try.
Personally, i’d love to hear from someone I cared about.
Why is this so hard? Fear is an illusion. Give it a shot, OP.. Even if it doesn’t work out, at least you will know you tried something. And if it does work out? Your instincts were right. This person loves you, and wants YOU, and no one else.
Call your person tomorrow, OP. I betcha they’ll be home all day, due to the CoVID19, and would be really happy to hear from you, and would want to know if you’re OK, because that’s what people who care about you do: think about you, and wish nothing but good things for you.
Call her/him. You won’t regret it. I promise.

Listen, Mr. Fancy Pants, pessimism will not get you far, but a little bit of faith? To the moon, Alice! One of these days! Straight to the moon!

Do it for yourself whether you get a response or not. I sent an email to an ex in Italy. No reply. Oh well. Hope he’s ok.

OP, definitely contact anyone you may be thinking about. Each of us needs attention/validation during these uncertain times. Your gesture will be welcomed and appreciated.
Earlier today I got an e-mail from a guy I dated very briefly on the West Coast, who I hadn't heard from him since 2015. His message was unexpected after five years; I immediately replied, thanked him for contacting me, gave him a brief update on my life and asked about his. I liked him and we both agreed (then) that we had chemistry. So far, no response. Interesting. If anything develops, I'll keep you guys updated.

We're all vulnerable right now, OP so I say STRIKE! STRIKE WHIILE THE IRON IS HOT!

Sure, go ahead OP, and contact the guy to tell him you're concerned about his health given his job.
It may lift his spirits because I am sure he's feeling overworked.

What did you do, OP?
by Anonymous | reply 13 | March 24, 2020 12:24 AM |
I wouldn't call anybody from my past. If somebody from my past reached out to me and we've had bad history, I'm not responding.
