I have the same problem with Nicole Wallace. She's too smiley and sunny when she's delivering shit news, especially about Trump. I very much dislike her and was surprised to read a thread on here a few days ago about how smart, stylish and amazing she was. She seems creepy and fake to me.

I think she's been at this so long that she can't feel empathy and has a similar disposition to a real estate broker.

She's probably a nervous wreck, cursing God for her lot in life. She's live on TV, being broadcast around the world. Everyone, especially the gays, are making nasty comments about her manner and dress. And then there's her goon of a boss who will fire her and call her names on Twitter if she says even one wrong word.

My guess: she is an absolute ace at her job as the Global AIDS Ambassador but she didn’t want this job. She’s a political appointee holdover from Obama and realizes she could be let go if she’s anything less than a team player.

She’s been honest. She said 100,000 to 200,000 are going to die in a best case scenario. I prefer a doctor like that who can just state the truth.

When she was discussing ELISA tests versus prick tests and confidence intervals and so on, I thought, wait, is she or is she not the Betsy DeVos of health?

I do wonder if she is like many of us feel Fauci is, sacrificing personal integrity for the sake of the collective good, or if she’s a typical Trump appointee. Her career history really suggests to me that she is not a typical Trump appointee. I would guess that she can only get through these briefings with a put-upon sunny attitude as she stands next to and kowtows to Mike Pence, who tried to pull the plug on Indiana’s AIDS relief, while she tries to make advances in AIDS relief. She probably has an Ina Garten-sized cosmo every night before bed to get to sleep.

Anyway, I hope that her creepy smiling is just a coping mechanism.

Have you read her biography? I think Dr. Birx is legitimate and a peer to Dr. Fauci, and she has gotten a bad rap for being a Trump appointee and for her weird smile...and for being a woman. She seems like a highly qualified and competent public health official to me. Like Fauci, she has a decades-long career as an infectious disease and HIV/AIDS specialist and policy expert.

R50 I also find her a little annoying. Her presentation tic of forcing a smile while talking about devastation really undermines the info and how people see her. The first time she spoke on this, I commented to people that I got Elizabeth Holmes vibes. She seems to have toned down the grinning thing. Maybe it was nerves, or maybe as a woman she’s been programmed to try to be comforting and cheery when delivering bad news. I don’t know.
