Jeopardy! - Part 20

With no studio audience.

by Anonymousreply 54211 hours ago

Did Wednesday's winner, win again on Thursday?

The one who beat Kris?

I missed Thursday's show.

by Anonymousreply 103/20/2020

FYI, Part 19 is paywalled.

by Anonymousreply 203/20/2020

Woohoo Nick Klotz from Wisconsin!

Damn, he's hot. I'm so happy he won!

Those two bitches were BITTER at the end. They really hated that he won.

Oh, well. Too bad!

by Anonymousreply 303/24/2020

I love the new guy Adam!

He's cute and funny.

Actually, all three players yesterday were really good.

Nick was cute, but so was Adam. It was so hard to choose between them.

by Anonymousreply 403/26/2020

Adam looks a bit like Fred Savage.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 503/26/2020

Nick Klotz isn't as cute as I thought he was.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 603/26/2020

Did Adam win again today?

by Anonymousreply 703/26/2020

That show was insane!

Khalilah is a fucking maniac. Omg, she was the most aggressive player I've ever seen.

She's smart, but she's totally mental.

The other two players were just ... DUDS. Including yesterday's champ.

My gosh, that was one of the saddest games I've ever seen (in terms of smarts), but it was still exciting!

by Anonymousreply 803/27/2020

Good FJ. And two cutie pies in the game!

by Anonymousreply 903/31/2020

Glad Khaliyah lost. I really didn't like her style of play.

Happy for the new guy, especially because he's cute!

by Anonymousreply 1003/31/2020

JR in the middle spot tonight is really damn cute.

by Anonymousreply 1103/31/2020

I hope that Kyle and JR went back to the hotel after the show, and had hot sex.

by Anonymousreply 1203/31/2020

R12, they did, with me. I was quite satisfied.

by Anonymousreply 1303/31/2020

Kyle reminded me a lot of Mayor Pete.

Final was easy.

by Anonymousreply 1403/31/2020

Oy, J.R.--wanted to see him play again... but Leanne was amazing and earned her victory. Her voice reminded me of Lilith's on "Cheers". Poor Kyle--good contestant, lousy game--he looked crushed.

by Anonymousreply 1503/31/2020

Damn that Leeanne!

She ruined everything!

by Anonymousreply 1603/31/2020

I see poor Glenn is delivering clues again. First her tag sale, now game shows. I can't imagine what she'll do next for a pay check. A sequel to "Maxie"?

by Anonymousreply 1703/31/2020

Yay Hemant! I wanted him to win.

Haha Leanne. Good riddance. Sucks that she had to steal the win from Kyle and JR yesterday. Bitch!

Kami is weird.

by Anonymousreply 1804/01/2020

Not surprising, but Jeopardy! suspended production —

Jeopardy! has suspended production until further notice.

The episodes that are currently airing were taped several weeks ago – well before concerns about the coronavirus. Any interactions between contestants, Alex or the studio audience took place when such actions were considered safe.

We take the well-being of our staff, crew, contestants, audience guests and host very seriously, and will not resume taping until it is completely safe.

Similarly, all previously scheduled contestant searches have been postponed. We will not resume contestant tryouts until it is safe to do so. However, please note that if you have not taken the Jeopardy! Anytime Test online, you may now do so whenever it is convenient for you from your home computer or mobile device.

by Anonymousreply 1904/02/2020

Felicity has a boyfriend?

(Posting here since the Jeopardy 19 thread is paywalled)

by Anonymousreply 2004/02/2020

Another update —

To All Current (and Future!) Contestants:

If you are currently in the Jeopardy! contestant pool, please know that the show has suspended production until the current health crisis has passed. However, the contestant team is taking this interruption into consideration, and the standard 18-month window of eligibility will be extended accordingly. At minimum, all current applicants will have their active status extended equivalent to the length of this hiatus.

If your shows have already been taped and you are anticipating air dates, there is a chance that some episodes may be rescheduled. In the event of a date change, the contestant team will contact you individually with detailed information as it becomes available and/or necessary.

by Anonymousreply 2104/02/2020

Hemant choked. Good sport, though.

by Anonymousreply 2204/02/2020

Surprise ending. Hearst??

by Anonymousreply 2304/03/2020

I call dibs on Marshall. He’s not the brightest bulb on the tree, but he’s adorable and he knows how to bend over.

Emma is a cute girl but she’s in desperate need of a makeover.

by Anonymousreply 2404/06/2020

No! I wanted dibs on him but was locked out of posting earlier! He is cute as hell. Didn't think there was a chance for him to win.

by Anonymousreply 2504/06/2020

Marshall Comeaux is adorable.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 2604/06/2020

My gaydar isn't great, but Marshall... yeah.

by Anonymousreply 2704/06/2020

Marshall.... did you catch the ADHD? He could keep the button and the cord down, get lifting, twisting it... Adderall boy.

by Anonymousreply 2804/06/2020

Marshall is very cute!

I'm so happy he won.

I honestly thought that Emma was going to leave him in the dust, but he managed to pull off a win. Good for him!

Btw, are we sure that Marshall isn't Datalounge favorite "Joel?"

He looks like he could play the part... lol.

by Anonymousreply 2904/07/2020

R29, we’ll need to see Marshall in a Speedo, or less, to be sure.

by Anonymousreply 3004/07/2020

R30 A scantily clad photo would be nice.

by Anonymousreply 3104/07/2020

He’s cute — and from all appearances, gay. I’m glad that he made it to the semifinals, but he’s inconsistent. He knew a lot about some topics, but he made some odd, and incorrect guesses that pulled down his score. I think he just needs to calm down a bit.

by Anonymousreply 3204/07/2020

R32, Marshall thought canine was spelled with a "k".

Don't see why some of you pegged him as gay. I don't get even a hint from him.

Marshall is a sophomore, so he's probably 20?

by Anonymousreply 3304/07/2020

Yes, R33, he’s a sophomore. I scrolled through his limited IG posts. I definitely get a gay geeky vibe from him. Catholic high school, quiz teams, likes Mayor Pete. 🤷‍♂️ I’d say it’s certainly likely.

by Anonymousreply 3404/07/2020

Yes, R33, he’s a sophomore. I scrolled through his limited IG posts. I definitely get a gay geeky vibe from him. Catholic high school, quiz teams, likes Mayor Pete. 🤷‍♂️ I’d say it’s certainly likely.

by Anonymousreply 3504/07/2020

Yes, R33, he’s a sophomore. I scrolled through his limited IG posts. I definitely get a gay geeky vibe from him. Catholic high school, quiz teams, likes Mayor Pete. 🤷‍♂️ I’d say it’s certainly likely.

by Anonymousreply 3604/07/2020

Top or bottom?

by Anonymousreply 3704/07/2020

Marshall would make a terrific Robin.

by Anonymousreply 3804/07/2020

R38 Marshall would make a terrific Bottom.

by Anonymousreply 3904/07/2020

Glad to have found thread. Didn't know the previous one had been paywalled. In the future, please post a link to the new thread in the old thread. That always helps.

I didn't get gay vibes off Marshall. I got young, nervous and excited vibes off him.

Now, Felicity from last week. She had a boyfriend?!? That caught me off guard. She looked classic lesbian.

by Anonymousreply 4004/07/2020

We'll know for sure if he's Joel if does really well in the category "Lhasa Apsos".

by Anonymousreply 4104/07/2020

I don’t think Comeaux is a homo.

by Anonymousreply 4204/07/2020

People who are paywalled can’t put a link in the old thread and no one else knows about the new one.

by Anonymousreply 4304/07/2020
In the future, please post a link to the new thread in the old thread. That always helps.

Same thought as R43.

Usually the paywall comes up out of nowhere, it's impossible to link a new thread, because people are already locked out.

That's actually why a new thread has to be created. Because we can't post in the old thread.

by Anonymousreply 4404/07/2020

^you CAN post, you’re just too cheap.

by Anonymousreply 4504/07/2020

My local station is broadcasting a repeat program. Why is that?

by Anonymousreply 4604/07/2020

Perhaps the solution is to go ahead the create Part 21 NOW. Publicize that thread in this thread and have everyone bookmark it. Then, leave it alone until it's needed. Continue using this thread until it is paywalled.

That way, those of us who are paying members will see it pop up in our thread watcher when people start using it thus signalling that the current one is Murieled.

by Anonymousreply 4704/07/2020

Or we could just pay up.

by Anonymousreply 4804/07/2020

Yalie is probably gay.

by Anonymousreply 4904/07/2020

Yalie is the best player I've seen in a while.

by Anonymousreply 5004/07/2020

Relieved to see that the Yale guy beat the two trash Florida girls.

Is this tournament new? It seems like it’s a repeat.

by Anonymousreply 5104/07/2020

Nathaniel is definitely gay.

I was wondering the same thing, R51.

Is this a new tournament, or a re-run from 2019?

by Anonymousreply 5204/07/2020

Seems to be new. There was a question about the movie Knives Out, which came out in Nov. 2019.

by Anonymousreply 5304/08/2020
Or we could just pay up.

I'm paid up. Have been for a long time.

But others choose not to pay the $1.50 a month for various reasons. Not all of those reasons make sense to me, but the point is, these threads are more enjoyable with more people participating.

by Anonymousreply 5404/08/2020

From the New York Post . . .

“Jeopardy!” fans were bowled over on Tuesday night when a clue on the board seemed to reference the coronavirus pandemic.

But the April 7 episode — in which three university students were competing as the storied ABC game show’s two-week-long College Championship — was filmed in early February.

Nathaniel Miller, a sophomore at Yale, selected an $800 clue during Double Jeopardy from the category “Health & Medicine".

Beloved host Alex Trebek, who is battling pancreatic cancer, read out the prompt: “From a Greek word for people, it describes a disease that affects many people at one time.”

Miller buzzed in with the correct answer, “What is a pandemic?”

The World Health Organization declared the coronavirus a pandemic on March 11.

It didn’t take long for fans of the show to exclaim over the coincidence on social media.

by Anonymousreply 5504/08/2020

^But nobody saw this coming!

by Anonymousreply 5604/08/2020

R56 The deplorables still believe him.

by Anonymousreply 5704/08/2020

Did Marshall win again?

by Anonymousreply 5804/08/2020

R58, he wasn’t playing today but there was another cute gay named Alistair, who lost.

FJ was insanely easy, but only one got it correct.

by Anonymousreply 5904/08/2020

Londyn kicked ass today! Good for her.

Sophomores have won three days in a row so far.

by Anonymousreply 6004/08/2020

I guessed Dickinson for FJ like Alistair, then felt really dumb. Londyn was a terrific player.

by Anonymousreply 6104/08/2020

Truman called Lee “Nelle” in Capote and Infamous.

by Anonymousreply 6204/08/2020

What exactly did Londyn say she wanted to do for a career, when Alex somewhat scolded her for it?

I totally missed her interview, but caught the end part, when he was raising his eyebrow at her.

She was doing some dancing movement, and if I heard correctly (from far away) she said she wanted to meet a rich guy.

by Anonymousreply 6304/09/2020

She said her major was Arabic and she might marry a rich Sheikh.

by Anonymousreply 6404/09/2020

She seemed like a total airhead, but was an ace player.

by Anonymousreply 6504/09/2020

No wonder she was trying to belly dance, R64.

Odd that her other career choice was to become a lawyer.

by Anonymousreply 6604/09/2020

Joe seems like he wouldn't mind a good pounding. Just don't tell anybody.

by Anonymousreply 6704/09/2020

I loved Beni’s hair. I’m sure I will be alone on that.

And I loved super gay Joe with his pressed white shirt under his sweatshirt and his love of musicals.

by Anonymousreply 6804/09/2020

Joe needs wardrobe guidance. Send him to me.

by Anonymousreply 6904/09/2020

Wonder what Beni's hair looks like now that he's been in quarantine a couple of weeks..... Good for Joe.

by Anonymousreply 7004/09/2020

Joe deserves to have his pic poster here

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 7104/09/2020

Joe is adorable.

by Anonymousreply 7204/09/2020

Great game today!

Musical queen Joe was very handsome. I love clean cut guys like him.
I loved Beni’s hair. I’m sure I will be alone on that.

At first I thought he was weird looking, but Beni is so adorable!

He had such a sweet personality, and he's a very smart kid.

Beni would have won, if it wasn't for those horrible Daily Doubles.

I hope he makes it to the Semi-Finals.

by Anonymousreply 7304/09/2020

I got the impression that Beni is a mixed-race person, but really couldn't figure out which races is that might be? Final was a giveaway. Was no one else shocked that none of them could find Key West on a map???

by Anonymousreply 7404/09/2020

Had anyone else heard of Hendrix College?

by Anonymousreply 7504/10/2020

R75 Ha... I was fascinated and did some research. Very small Liberal Arts college connected to the United Methodist Church (but traced to the Southern Methodist... the southerners who wouldn't let go of slavery), 1200 students. Surprisingly rated 98th Liberal Arts college in American by US News Reports.

by Anonymousreply 7604/10/2020

I guess they're going to have a gay twink on every episode of the college tournament?

by Anonymousreply 7704/10/2020

Even before the college twinks, there was an unusually long stretch of shows with hot and possibly gay men. Well done, Jeopardy producers!

by Anonymousreply 7804/10/2020

I have met straight men who like Broadway shows.

by Anonymousreply 7904/10/2020

Is there a Jeopardy casting couch?

by Anonymousreply 8004/10/2020

I think today's contestant Nibir may be on the gay side. He's kind of cute.

by Anonymousreply 8104/10/2020

Both of them had gay voice to me - kind of funny with the Liberty University gal in the middle like that!

by Anonymousreply 8204/10/2020

I think it may be the first ever all-gay semi-final.

by Anonymousreply 8304/10/2020

R73 Beni was NOT adorable in any way. He looked like Malachi from Children of the Corn but with a jew-fro.

by Anonymousreply 8404/10/2020

I hate that bitch Natalie from the right wing Christian, Liberty University. The old people at the nursing home were REALLY her friends! You know she was proselytizing to the nearly dead trying to "save" them.

by Anonymousreply 8504/10/2020

Glad she lost as well.

by Anonymousreply 8604/10/2020

The semi finals are going to be a gay old time!

Go, Marshall!

by Anonymousreply 8704/10/2020

Between the gay guys on Jeopardy tonight and the gay guy winning on Wheel of Fortune, Friday night Gay Days at the Game Shows.

by Anonymousreply 8804/11/2020

I feared that the Liberty gal was going to win. Turns out that the Bible was her only strong suit.

by Anonymousreply 8904/11/2020

For the first time in a LONG time, I am looking forward to the College Championship Week of Jeopardy!!!

Don't let us down, boys!

by Anonymousreply 9004/11/2020

R50 Art Flaming!! Brilliant.

by Anonymousreply 9104/11/2020

^^ I don't get it. ^^

by Anonymousreply 9204/11/2020

R90: I know, right? She swept the “Deuteronomy” category but fizzled after that. Loved her FJ answer: writ of centuri! instead of quid pro quo,

by Anonymousreply 9304/11/2020

Quid Pro Quo was so obvious. It was the ONLY possible answer if you've been keeping up with the news in even the slightest way. I guess these college kids are to involved in their own world to stay abreast of national news.

by Anonymousreply 9404/11/2020

I missed quid pro quo. But it really was so obvious.

by Anonymousreply 9504/11/2020
Art Flaming!! Brilliant. —Laughing so hard I sharted
^^ I don't get it. ^^

Art Flaming is a play on the name Art Fleming, who was the original host of Jeopardy!

Only someone over 60 would probably get the reference.

I'm not over 60, but I am a trivia fan, so that's how I know this little factoid.

by Anonymousreply 9604/11/2020

Thank you's nice someone noticed.

by Anonymousreply 9704/12/2020

R90 Please look at R51...I caught it right away but responded to the wrong link!

by Anonymousreply 9804/12/2020

Yes, but…Art Flaming has been posting here for a long time. I still don't get it.

by Anonymousreply 9904/12/2020

What is there not to get, R99? Art Fleming was a long time host for Jeopardy! back at the beginning, before Alex. Art Flaming is a gay-inspired name that is a clever play on the name of the prior host. It isn't rocket science...although, apparently, it may be beyond your tenuous grasp on word play.

by Anonymousreply 10004/12/2020

Maybe that's not what R99 is not getting. Maybe it's the fact that "Art Flaming has been posting here for time" and NOW somebody notices the joke after all this time.

Whatever. Anyway, Tyler & Beni the quirky hair guy are competing on today's show.

But get ready for tomorrow when Joe the music queen goes up against Nabir.

by Anonymousreply 10104/13/2020

I haven't had this much attention since I wore only one flip flop in a sleeping bag.

by Anonymousreply 10204/13/2020
one flip flop in a sleeping bag

A flip flop?

Oh, the horror!

by Anonymousreply 10304/13/2020
Maybe that's not what [R99] is not getting. Maybe it's the fact that "Art Flaming has been posting here for time" and NOW somebody notices the joke after all this time.

THANK YOU, r101! That's exactly what I mean. I don't think r100 has been here too long.

by Anonymousreply 10404/13/2020

by Anonymousreply 11604/13/2020

Joe is three years away from being a real southern doughboy...

by Anonymousreply 11704/13/2020

Alex's toupee seemed poofier than usual tonight.

by Anonymousreply 11804/13/2020
Alex's toupee seemed poofier than usual tonight.

That's in homage to his contestants, many of whom also seem poofier recently.

by Anonymousreply 11904/13/2020

I really wanted Beni to win today. Can't believe he missed that easy FJ. Looking forward to Marshall on Wednesday.

by Anonymousreply 12004/13/2020

Damn you, Beni!!!!

I was rooting for you!

He had such a huge lead, too.

I'm indifferent to Tyler, although I'm happy he won over the girl who needs a personality transplant. HATE her!

by Anonymousreply 12104/13/2020

Tyler has a great smile and is growing on me in a square but hot way. Beni's FJ miss was sad, after an awesome game. I liked the Fla. gal because she is Kafkaesque.

by Anonymousreply 12204/13/2020

I think Singin' in the Rain is a straight man's answer to "What's your favorite musical?"

Looking forward to Marshall's return.

by Anonymousreply 12904/14/2020

Either that, or I wanted Londyn to win.

Sucks that the other guy won.

Now Marshall is my only hope.

by Anonymousreply 13004/14/2020

Well-deserved win for Nibir.

by Anonymousreply 13104/14/2020

Rooting for Marshall and Tyler!

by Anonymousreply 13204/14/2020

Joe looks like a major douchebag. Like the kind of guy who would be cast as an asshole/bully in a Lifetime or Hallmark movie.

by Anonymousreply 13304/14/2020

He’s so tall and butch!

Goodbye, Joe of Hendrix. We hardly knew ye.

by Anonymousreply 13404/14/2020

FJ was easy. Only one possible answer. I could see drawing a blank, but Argentina? Joe, no. No.

by Anonymousreply 13504/14/2020

I love cute gay Nibir.

by Anonymousreply 13604/15/2020

Nibir is smart as a whip.

by Anonymousreply 13704/15/2020

Joe is a fiddle player.......

The final is shaping up to be a good contest!

by Anonymousreply 14004/15/2020

I laughed at that too, R140.

He sounded like a total hick, calling a violin a "fiddle."

by Anonymousreply 14104/15/2020

R141, that’s a little harsh. I found that charming. Violins are called fiddles in the bluegrass context.

by Anonymousreply 14204/15/2020

Okay, sorry R142.

I laughed because I did find it funny that such a young guy would call a violin a fiddle.

However, it was also charming and cute at the same time.

by Anonymousreply 14304/15/2020

NNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOO....Marshall! That FJ was very hard. In this situation, you were better off going in in third place. He is beautiful.

by Anonymousreply 14404/15/2020

Marshall will always have a place in my boudoir. Doesn’t he look just like young Dick Grayson? Gorgeous.

by Anonymousreply 14504/15/2020

Wow, that was a surprise. I was sure it was going to be between Nathaniel and Marshall. Maybe it was when Nathaniel reached out and touched Marshall that it ended for both of them.

by Anonymousreply 14604/15/2020

The TX dude really shat the bed. What an idiot 🙄🙄🙄

by Anonymousreply 14704/15/2020

Deeply disappointing that Marshall is a huge fan of Hamilton and especially Lin Manuel Miranda.

by Anonymousreply 14804/15/2020

Team Nibir.

by Anonymousreply 14904/15/2020

I'm so bummed about this Jeopardy final.

I don't like any of the final three contestants, and probably won't watch.

I really don't care who wins.

Marshall should have been in that final.

by Anonymousreply 15004/15/2020

The producers gave that shitty question on purpose, just to fuck up the two guys in the lead.

Fucking twats.

That girl doesn't deserve to be in the final.

by Anonymousreply 15104/15/2020

Marshall looked so good tonight, even while fidgeting. I thought Nathaniel would win, but FJ was so hard. I had no idea. I'm betting on Nibir now.

by Anonymousreply 15204/15/2020

That FJ was ridiculous.

by Anonymousreply 15304/15/2020

R142 is correct. R141 suffers from Dunning Kruger effect.

by Anonymousreply 15404/15/2020

I hope the two games coming up are good.....and close...... If not, after tonight's game, I probably won't bother with the final one.

I can read about it here.....and be more entertained.

by Anonymousreply 15504/16/2020

I won't be watching.

No Marshall, no Joe, no deal.

I've lost all interest.

Btw, what's coming up next week? Has Jeopardy! run out of original programming?

by Anonymousreply 15604/16/2020

Babe Ruth may be one of the worst non-Watson responses ever.

by Anonymousreply 15704/16/2020
Babe Ruth may be one of the worst non-Watson responses ever.

She's from China.

If she didn't know the damned answer, then she should have just shut her stupid mouth.

by Anonymousreply 15804/16/2020

Any shirtless pics of Marshall on social media?

by Anonymousreply 15904/16/2020

R159, There is one on his Instagram page.

by Anonymousreply 16104/16/2020

R160 Ha. "Yes, I know how to spell Kanine"

by Anonymousreply 16204/16/2020

Well, I will be watching since I have no problem rooting for both Tyler (who looks like a younger version of a nerdy guy I once dated) and gay-voice Nabir.

by Anonymousreply 16304/16/2020 least Babe Ruth WAS a baseball player......she didn't say Mickey Mantle.....

by Anonymousreply 16404/16/2020 messed that up......I meant.... least she didn't say Joe Namath......

by Anonymousreply 16504/16/2020

I am so attracted to Nibir. I want him to ravish me all night long.

by Anonymousreply 16604/16/2020

I like listening to Nibir's voice. But I knew he was going to lose $$ for "Soul Sister" and not saying "hey".

by Anonymousreply 16704/16/2020

I normally would never say this about anyone, but Nibir has attractive hands/fingers.

by Anonymousreply 16804/16/2020

I got FJ.

by Anonymousreply 16904/16/2020

R169, you got herpes too.

by Anonymousreply 17004/16/2020

Team Nibir.

by Anonymousreply 17104/16/2020

R170, jealous?

by Anonymousreply 17204/16/2020

Nibir played a good game.....the others only fair, but they were competitive. He has a huge lead that will be difficult to overcome.....I will be watching tonight.

I knew FJ, but I think they've asked that question before - maybe as a regular question.....

by Anonymousreply 17304/17/2020

Yes, it seemed familiar to me, too, r173

by Anonymousreply 17404/17/2020

Does Nibir need a boyfriend?

by Anonymousreply 17504/17/2020

I suspect that after today, the answer would be no.

by Anonymousreply 17604/17/2020

Go Nibir!

by Anonymousreply 17704/17/2020

Yay, Nabir!

Glad he won. The girl was a complete waste of space.

by Anonymousreply 17804/17/2020

Good game. They all did well, but Nibir rocked.

by Anonymousreply 17904/17/2020

Nibir was totally calm, cool and collected throughout the entire tournament.

I think the prize money is too low for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.

by Anonymousreply 18004/17/2020

Yes, he was a machine. In a good way.

by Anonymousreply 18104/18/2020

Gay sizemeat!

by Anonymousreply 18204/18/2020

Good job Nibir! It was a good game with a foregone conclusion.

Did Nibir write the correct answer on FJ and then cross it out? I thought I saw that. I guessed at the answer and I must have read that when I was working on a production of Pippin - because I got it right!

by Anonymousreply 18304/18/2020

Nabir deserves to have his picture up here

by Anonymousreply 18504/18/2020

For once, a college tournament that was actually fun and engaging!

by Anonymousreply 18604/18/2020

Agreed Johnny. This was an enjoyable tournament.

by Anonymousreply 18704/18/2020

Nibir's parents and younger brother were in the audience. They should have at least shown them, if bringing them onstage was not doable.

by Anonymousreply 18804/18/2020

R188, how much younger?

by Anonymousreply 18904/18/2020

Nibir is cute as hell, but he pings to me.

by Anonymousreply 19704/20/2020

Am I the only one who heard Andrew answer "Shiner" for one of the questions instead of the correct answer "Shriner"?

I played it back to see if that's what I heard, and I was correct.

I thought for sure when they returned from the commercial break, Alex was going to say the judges heard him misstate the answer and deduct his score, but he got away with it.

by Anonymousreply 19804/20/2020

I definitely heard him say "Shiner".

Andrew won by default. I don't see him having a third game.

FJ was super easy.

by Anonymousreply 19904/20/2020

I love Andrew.

"Let's Dance!"

by Anonymousreply 20004/20/2020

I thought tall Ben was cute. Hard questions tonight.

by Anonymousreply 20104/20/2020

Could that gnome's story of locking herself in a hotel room have been any dumber?

Ben could have been the new champ if he had wagered intelligently.

by Anonymousreply 20204/20/2020

For whom does Andrew ping?

by Anonymousreply 20304/20/2020

Shiner. Not sure why they didn’t DING him.

by Anonymousreply 20404/20/2020

Alex gave away half of the Victoria Falls answer to two contestants after telling the other one that Zimbabwe was only one of the counties.

by Anonymousreply 20504/20/2020
Alex gave away half of the Victoria Falls answer to two contestants after telling the other one that Zimbabwe was only one of the counties.

I noticed that, too. Very unfair.

Alex is really slipping.

by Anonymousreply 20604/20/2020

I cringed so hard when Alex tried to make a joke when he spoke with Sidra! 😬

by Anonymousreply 20704/21/2020

I couldn't get FJ. Gary is a whiz.

by Anonymousreply 21204/22/2020

by Anonymousreply 21304/22/2020

Alex joking with Michael about dead people voting was odd, given his situation.

No one knew "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" or Tim Russert?

by Anonymousreply 21404/22/2020

middle guy Michael was a handsome piece.

by Anonymousreply 21504/22/2020

I wanted Michael to win!

However, seeing as how Final Jeopardy was the easiest one EVER, it's clear that the show wanted the Canadian frau to win.

The clue was foreign country elections, and it stated that in 2014 there was a "record turnout" of 500 million people, in this "democratic country."

There were only two possibilities for that, since only China and India have over 500 million people.

Duh, I wonder which one it could be?

Fucking WORST Final Jeopardy question ever!

by Anonymousreply 21604/22/2020

Gary is smart, but guessed Russia.

by Anonymousreply 21704/22/2020

Yes, Final was obvious with the 500 million people.

Really liked the woman (Sharon?). She made an impressive comeback.

by Anonymousreply 21804/23/2020

Was it my imagination or did Michael look a little uncomfortable shaking Gary's hand at the end of the game? (He was looking down and wasn't even looking at him)

by Anonymousreply 21904/23/2020

The hand shaking between players after the game is a fairly recent ritual. In the past, contestants barely acknowledged each other during the closing credits.

by Anonymousreply 22004/23/2020

My understanding is that the show tells contestants NOT to shake hands after the match.

In years past, contestants were good about following that edict, but in the past year or so, they've been ignoring it more often.

Frankly, it just looks better when the contestants shake hands. Signals "good game" and "no hard feelings." When they don't shake hands, it always seems to signal that there's something wrong, some bad feelings between contestants, someone is a sore loser or a stuck up winner.

Now in a coronavirus world, shaking hands will be verboten.

by Anonymousreply 22104/23/2020

Kanadian Karen is the know after the game, she asked to speak to the manager.

by Anonymousreply 22204/23/2020

Re the hand shaking, didn't a winning contestant within the past couple of months hug one or both of the other contestants?

by Anonymousreply 22304/23/2020
Re the hand shaking, didn't a winning contestant within the past couple of months hug one or both of the other contestants?

Probably, but the show so far has been recorded since way before the coronavirus…unpleasantness.

by Anonymousreply 22404/23/2020

I wonder if champ Sharon Lawson is related to Helen?

by Anonymousreply 22504/23/2020

It seems likely, as Sharon was adopted, and Helen abandoned her unwanted children across North America as she traveled the road show circuit.

by Anonymousreply 22604/23/2020

Oohhh I like nerdy zaddy Tim.

by Anonymousreply 22704/23/2020

R227, Love his ears.

by Anonymousreply 22804/24/2020

Final was obvious again. Japan was really the only thing it could be.

by Anonymousreply 22904/24/2020

R229, I guessed Israel, but I’m weak on history.

by Anonymousreply 23004/24/2020
I guessed Israel, but I’m weak on history.

And weak on geography too, it appears. The clue said "The first Asian to accept the Nobel Peace Prize was the PM of this country who in 1967 renounced use of nuclear weapons."

Israel isn't in Asia. It's in the Mid-East.

by Anonymousreply 23104/24/2020

R231, Israel is absolutely in Asia. The Mid-East isn’t a continent.

by Anonymousreply 23204/24/2020

What’s going to happen when they run out of episodes? What will Alex do? I hope he doesn’t die in the pause.

by Anonymousreply 23304/24/2020

From today's New York Post . . .

The last day to watch a new episode of “Jeopardy!” is May 1, according to an announcement on Twitter.

by Anonymousreply 23404/24/2020

Starting May 4th, they're going to re-air the Greatest of all Time tournament and also Ken Jennings first and last episode as a regular contestant. I wish they would re-air his entire 70 game run since I didn't see it the first time around.

by Anonymousreply 23504/24/2020

Alex's 80th birthday will be in July of this year. The fact that he was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer early 2019 and he is still alive and functioning today is a minor miracle. His treatments did make a difference for the time being. I hope he gets to celebrate his 80th birthday.

by Anonymousreply 23604/24/2020

His wig is looking so much better than the previous one.

by Anonymousreply 23704/24/2020

There's something especially annoying about someone who corrects someone who is already correct.

by Anonymousreply 23804/24/2020

I missed the last two episodes, it gets preempted by the Jersey 4 Jersey benefit concert (good cause) and the NFL draft (questionable).

by Anonymousreply 23904/25/2020

I'm on the west coast and it got preempted Thursday and Friday for the NFL draft. I couldnt care less about football or the stupid draft. Give me my Jeopardy!

by Anonymousreply 24004/25/2020

R239 - The episodes were shown early this morning (like around 3:30 ish).

by Anonymousreply 24404/27/2020

She realized the stupidity of that answer right after saying it because she put her hands in the air, as if to say to herself, "What an IDIOT!"

by Anonymousreply 24504/27/2020

I had the same reaction to Final that Sarah did. I knew it was either Grant or McClellan but went with Grant because he was the more famous of the two. In hindsight, I should have picked McClellan simply because of the 1862 date. Grant didn't assume command of the Union army until 1864.

This is one of the shows they filmed without a studio audience. The one shot of the audience was a tight shot of Sarah's daughter surrounded presumably by a few friends/family of the contestants and/or contestants for later in the week.

by Anonymousreply 24604/28/2020

The champ is a flake.

by Anonymousreply 24704/28/2020

Why is Mina yelling at us?

by Anonymousreply 24804/28/2020

The pen wouldn’t write the A? Bless her heart.

by Anonymousreply 24904/28/2020

I was wondering the same thing, R248.

It was a little jarring to hear Alex mention "the Battle of" the O.K. Corral instead of "the Gunfight at. . ." - especially since the actual event lasted only about 30 seconds.

by Anonymousreply 25004/28/2020

All three were somewhere on the spectrum. And no eye candy for me. 1/10

by Anonymousreply 25104/28/2020

I got FJ right away, but I'm a major movie buff.

At least "Ben Hur" was a 1950s film, but "The Grapes of Wrath"?

by Anonymousreply 25204/28/2020

Watching on 4/29 -- Is it me or does this chick Anastasia has some seriously sloping shoulders.

by Anonymousreply 25304/29/2020

I completely blanked on Final. As did two of the three contestants. Was rooting for Kevin. Sorry he lost.

I'm still scratching my head over new champ Jesse saying he had a wife. Shouldn't that have been husband?

by Anonymousreply 25404/30/2020

FJ was hopelessly hard for me. I was soooo tired of Sarah and her nattering.

by Anonymousreply 25504/30/2020

Why did Thursday's show have a studio audience and Tuesday's did not?

by Anonymousreply 25604/30/2020

I was surprised about Jesse having a wife as well.

Tonight's new male contestant seems pleasant enough

by Anonymousreply 25805/01/2020

by Anonymousreply 25905/01/2020

R259, According to Johnny Gilbert at R246, it did not.

by Anonymousreply 26005/01/2020

The publicity said they were filming without a studio audience beginning the week of March 9. And then the had to shutdown production because of the coronavirus lockdown starting the week of March 16.

Given that next week they are repeating the Greatest of All Time tournament with Brad, Ken and James that aired on ABC in January, that suggests they are out of new episodes. I mean, repeat episodes during May sweeps? Clearly out of new episodes.

The point is, the episodes we're seeing this week seem to be the ones that were filmed that week of March 9 which was supposed to be without an audience.

I was startled by that audience shot during Thursday's show as well. They had so very clearly been avoiding an audience shot on Monday and Wednesday's shows (the show has at least one audience shot every episode, usually two or three shots). And that tight audience shot on Tuesday's show was just of 6-8 people (likely family/friends of contestants).

My guess is either that Thursday's audience shot was a quick shot of a previous show's audience. Or they got all the crew and contestants to sit in those seats specifically for that shot. (Things like that are known to happen).

Or perhaps they really did pull in an audience despite saying they'd tape without one. Maybe they found the game didn't feel right without an audience so after the lunch break, they rounded up people to sit there. Plenty of people on the Sony lot they could have grabbed to sit in the audience.

by Anonymousreply 26105/01/2020

Anyone else notice that Monday's 2004 repeat of Ken Jennings first show seemed to be sped up slightly. Everyone's voices seemed slgihtly off, especially Alex.

I presume this speeding up was because the 2004 ran slightly longer than a 2020 show would. Thus, they sped it up slightly to fit the full episode in without cutting anything.

by Anonymousreply 26205/05/2020

I thought the tournament was next?

Didn’t watch since I did not want to see smug Jennings again.

by Anonymousreply 26305/05/2020

Jennings introduced last night's 2004 game and then proceeded to name the winner of the GOAT Tournament which begins airing tonight.

So much for those who hadn't seen it.

by Anonymousreply 26405/05/2020
Anyone else notice that Monday's 2004 repeat of Ken Jennings first show seemed to be sped up slightly. Everyone's voices seemed slgihtly off, especially Alex.

I thought that exact thing. It was kind of…jarring.

by Anonymousreply 26505/05/2020

I think it might have been sped up because there were less commercials per half hour back when Ken Jennings first started as opposed to now.

So they had to move things along to fit in the whole episode.

A little faster and it would've sounded like a Chip 'n' Dale cartoon.

by Anonymousreply 26605/05/2020

If Megan had bet zero(0), she would have been co-champion with forgetful Ben.

by Anonymousreply 26705/18/2020

I was sure Jesse would win again. I don't think Ben will be around for long.

by Anonymousreply 26805/18/2020
If Megan had bet zero(0), she would have been co-champion with forgetful Ben.

They don't seem to have co-champions any more. A year or so ago, two contestants tied and one was somehow eliminated by some kind of screwy point system or something. Does anyone remember the details of that?

by Anonymousreply 26905/19/2020

When they had that tie game a year or so ago, they did a quick showdown question to determine the winner. Whoever buzzed in first with the correct answer won.

It seemed awkward and unfair.

by Anonymousreply 27005/19/2020

Final was easy because of the wording. "... is Article 6 of these."

If the answer was the Constitution, the phrasing would have been "Article 6 of this."

Since it said "these" it was obvious it was the Articles of Confederation.

Only other possible answer was the Bill of Rights, which doesn't have Articles, it has Amendments.

by Anonymousreply 27105/19/2020

Are they back with new shows?

by Anonymousreply 27205/19/2020

by Anonymousreply 27305/19/2020

"What is Lord of the Fries?"

by Anonymousreply 27405/19/2020

by Anonymousreply 27505/19/2020

Looks like I'm wrong again. Didn't get Final Jeopardy either.

by Anonymousreply 27605/19/2020

I thought FJ was pretty easy. But I'm old enough to remember the Disney version of Swiss Family Robinson; didn't know that the family in the novel had only sons.

by Anonymousreply 27705/20/2020

I guessed Swiss Family Robinson, but didn't know the family name came from Robinson Crusoe.

by Anonymousreply 27805/20/2020

I guess we'll never know just how much of Nathan is covered by tattoos.

by Anonymousreply 28405/22/2020

R284, How could three of those idiots miss The Declaration of Independence?

by Anonymousreply 28505/22/2020

How could the new champ, Morgan, not be gay?

by Anonymousreply 28605/22/2020

Morgan and Alex were bumping elbows during the closing credits rather than shaking hands.

by Anonymousreply 28705/22/2020

R287 So they are new shows, filmed after lock down? The players' podia are not even 6 feet from each other, and Alex (a very high risk demographic) is shaking hands with them.

by Anonymousreply 28805/22/2020

R288, That was my point, Alex was not shaking hands with them. However, the contestants were seen shaking hands with each other.

by Anonymousreply 28905/22/2020

Oy vey! So many answers missed. including the Declaration of Independence!!! And the year Nixon resigned!

And Final was so easy. At least the Connecticut answer had the georgraphy portion correction -- Connecticut does border three other states -- even if both forgot Yale is there.

by Anonymousreply 29005/22/2020

I got FJ, but missed a lot of the others. Connecticut should have been crossed off their mental lists in a few seconds.

by Anonymousreply 31306/11/2020

How could they not know "Nano Nano" and/or "Book 'em Danno"?

by Anonymousreply 31406/11/2020

Yes I was also shocked that Zach had a wife.

I was also surprised that the woman who was far ahead in 2nd place bet everything and ended up in 3rd place, getting $1000 instead of the $2000 she would have gotten had she bet nothing.

by Anonymousreply 31506/11/2020

I figured out Final about 2 seconds before time ended. If I'd been playing the game, I wouldn't have had time to write it down!

I like Zach a lot, but was also surprised when he mentioned a wife and a babymoon.

A lot of silent moments when no one buzzed in, and Alex seemed surprised they couldn't get the answer.

by Anonymousreply 31806/12/2020

Zach is just the cutest. I want to wrap him up in a burrito and eat him.

Why was Alex implying that FJ was between Morrison and Angelou, if the latter died in 2014? Does he think Oprah would only have praised one of the two of them?

by Anonymousreply 31906/12/2020

Wondered the same thing. The date of Morrison's death made her the obvious answer (question).

I should check a certain email account more often -- missed Monday's "Alex's 1st Day" episode, but my DVR is set for next week's "Best of Celebrity Jeopardy!"

by Anonymousreply 32707/21/2020

This game show host turns 80 today.

by Anonymousreply 32807/21/2020

Are they speeding these early episodes up to allow more more commercial breaks or something? The pace seems so frantic.

by Anonymousreply 32907/21/2020

R329, And the "questions" seem so easy.

by Anonymousreply 33007/22/2020

Each afternoon, BUZZR airs editions of "Classic Concentration" that Alex was hosting in the late 1980s/early 1990s.

by Anonymousreply 33107/22/2020

Yes, Alex was talking faster and louder back in the 1980s. I almost forgot that it was they way game show hosts talked back then. They were trying to cram the whole show in the 30 minutes and that was the only way to do it effectively.

by Anonymousreply 33207/22/2020

These classic episodes definitely sound speeded up slightly, presumably to get the entire game in while also accommodating the extra commercial time shows have in 2020.

We noticed the same thing back in May when they reran Ken Jennings first episode from 2004.

by Anonymousreply 33307/22/2020

Speaking of Ken Jennings, did anyone else notice that the promos for Alex's new book say that the Audible version is read by Alex and Ken Jennings? Is that a sign he's the replacement waiting in the wings?

by Anonymousreply 33407/22/2020

I was wondering if the episodes were sped up as well.

It's not just a matter of Alex talking faster, but his voice sounds funny as well, as if it's distorted.

by Anonymousreply 33507/22/2020

I also thought the questions are WAY easier than they are now.

by Anonymousreply 33607/22/2020

Great to have a NEW episode. Jeff the astronomer was a great player--I liked his slick hair. I missed FJ too.

by Anonymousreply 33709/14/2020

It was sad to see Alex appearing so frail on Monday's new season opener.

It looks like Ken Jennings is to be his eventual replacement.

by Anonymousreply 33809/14/2020

The champ really thought Emily Dickinson was alive in 1965?

by Anonymousreply 33909/15/2020

I didn't think spelling mattered: Barry/Berry. Not that she would have won.

by Anonymousreply 34009/15/2020

Berry Gordy is the biological father of Diana Ross' eldest daughter.

by Anonymousreply 34109/15/2020
I didn't think spelling mattered: Barry/Berry. Not that she would have won.

Yeah, what the hell was THAT about? Phonetically, Barry and Berry are the same, and if the question had been answered orally it would have been accepted, so WTF? Spelling has never mattered before.

by Anonymousreply 34209/16/2020
Spelling has never mattered before.

Except - that wasn't a simple spelling error.

That was getting the first name wrong.

by Anonymousreply 34309/16/2020

R342, No, the vowel sounds are not the same.

by Anonymousreply 34409/16/2020

How annoying was Kelly the "actress"?

by Anonymousreply 34509/16/2020

Yes, spelling has never mattered in Final before.

The difference in sound between Barry and Berry is minimal.

She clearly knew the correct answer. Should have given it to her.

by Anonymousreply 34609/16/2020

Show certainly feels different without an audience. You just don't feel the excitement of the game without the audience in attendance. Yes, they have the recorded applause, but its not the same.

by Anonymousreply 34709/16/2020

The answer is: This person hasn't been seen or heard from since April 10, 2020.

Who is Mr. Coco, Alex.

by Anonymousreply 34809/17/2020

R348, Cocoa, not Coco.

by Anonymousreply 34909/17/2020

I thought you bitches forgot all about me..

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 35009/17/2020
[R348], Cocoa, not Coco.

BZZT—wrong! And also you didn't phrase it as a question.

The answer is: r14, r27, r74 and r82.

What are the genuine posts on this thread signed by the very real MR. COCO?

You, r348, like Mr. Coco, don't get an A.

by Anonymousreply 35109/17/2020

^^ Sorry, it's R351 who doesn't get an A, not r348. ^^

by Anonymousreply 35209/17/2020

Okay, how did you do that?

by Anonymousreply 35309/17/2020

Beth screwed up with FJ, crossing out Rivera, and David tanked with his true Daily Double. Good game: Joe is smart.

by Anonymousreply 35409/17/2020

Finally, a really exciting game!

Had no idea about final, but glad Joe did.

by Anonymousreply 35509/18/2020

I like Joe - and I like the hair

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 35609/18/2020

Okay, so WTF was up with THAT? Sarah very clearly did NOT form the very last answer as a question ("Sirius/XM Radio,") but SHE WASN'T PENALIZED!! "Well, that's an unusual way of phrasing your response, but it is correct, it's Sirius/XM Radio," said Alex. And this was hot on the heels of a contestant who lost earlier in the week because she wrote "Barry" Gordy instead of "Berry."

Let's establish some rules here. folks.

by Anonymousreply 35709/21/2020

R357, That Sarah response was downright weird. I played it back twice to make sure I heard it correctly.

by Anonymousreply 35809/22/2020

Mr. Cocoa . . . Please come home!

by Anonymousreply 35909/22/2020

Generally, Alex says, "In the form of a question, please," to get the contestants to answer properly.

by Anonymousreply 36009/22/2020
Generally, Alex says, "In the form of a question, please," to get the contestants to answer properly.

He only does that in the first round. If the contestant does not answer in the form of a question, he does not remind them and they are penalized.

by Anonymousreply 36109/22/2020

My understanding is that they're allowed to get away with forgetting to respond properly during the first round - and in each of those cases, Alex reminds them.

But they are in fact supposed to be penalized if they do it during the second half of the game because I distinctly remember contestant[bold]s[/bold] losing money if they just give the answer without the question.

It's one thing that Alex didn't hear the response as such; it's another that the judges didn't pick up on it and have Alex correct it after the commercial break.

by Anonymousreply 36209/22/2020

R344. Actually, in many US dialects, the vowels are the same—for linguists, it’s the marry/merry/Mary (!) test

by Anonymousreply 36309/22/2020

My FJ guess was India, like Tyler. That was hard...

The contestant anecdotes seemed particularly awkward tonight, but I'm glad Tyler's high school theater mishap ended with a supportive round of applause which encouraged him to brush himself and get back on that damn stage.

by Anonymousreply 36409/23/2020

During the introductions, I mistook Tyler for a lesbian.

Did Reshima seem sedated to anyone else?

by Anonymousreply 36509/23/2020

Tyler needs a slap in the face.

by Anonymousreply 36609/23/2020

I guessed either India or Thailand so was half right!!

by Anonymousreply 36709/23/2020

Robert is handsome and has a great voice. FJ was the easiest in a while. Was it just me or did "Dana Hill" actually look a little like Dana Hill?

by Anonymousreply 36809/23/2020

Lisa, in the middle, appeared to be channeling RBG.

by Anonymousreply 36909/23/2020

I thought Robert was good-looking as well.

And, I'm presuming, gay.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 37009/24/2020

Now THAT was a great game.

Sameer comes from behind to win big.

by Anonymousreply 37109/24/2020

I like the new champ. He's very low-key, and manages to answer in the form of a question without sounding like he's asking a question (confidently rather than doubtfully). Plus, I loved his roadrunner story.

by Anonymousreply 37209/24/2020

If I were Mason's girlfriend, I would also take a day off from work and go with him ANYWHERE.

by Anonymousreply 37309/29/2020

I was sure Mason was a gay top.

I got FJ and none of the contestants did. The first poem I memorized in school.

by Anonymousreply 37409/29/2020

Yet another male contestant who surprised me with the mention of a girlfriend.

I thought FJ was a giveaway.

by Anonymousreply 37509/29/2020

I misunderstood FJ, guessed Superior, and feel inferior.

by Anonymousreply 37609/29/2020

I would SO like to sodomize Mason. That boy is sex on wheels.

by Anonymousreply 37709/29/2020

Final was awkwardly worded.

by Anonymousreply 37809/29/2020

Jesus, contestant thought WIN stood for Whip The Vote Now?

by Anonymousreply 37910/02/2020

Mason Maggio is hot stuff. He has a sultriness about him. Sad to see him go.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 38010/02/2020

For a “songwriter “, he knew absolutely nothing about music.

New champ is hot. Would love to see him in his uniform.

by Anonymousreply 38110/02/2020

Phillip is growing on me, cute grin. Can't believe I missed FJ tonight.

by Anonymousreply 38210/02/2020

Phillip is a very sexy man.

by Anonymousreply 38310/03/2020

R383: Yes, indeed. I’m loving his presence on my TV screen.

by Anonymousreply 38410/04/2020

He has a DILF quality that I find very reassuring

by Anonymousreply 38510/05/2020

Poor Phillip had a lousy game. Garrett is cute and played very well, but he should have got FJ.

by Anonymousreply 38610/05/2020

Puzzling that both men blanked on such an easy FJ. So nice to know that Phillip is into role playing with his brother.

by Anonymousreply 38710/05/2020

No mention of wife and kids and no wedding ring. Dare to dream that Phillip is a team member?

by Anonymousreply 38810/06/2020

I was wondering about Phillip as well, but I've been wrong about some of the other recent contestants who later mention a GF (like Mason), so who knows.

by Anonymousreply 38910/06/2020

Another incredibly easy FJ.

Garrett is, indeed, a cutie.

by Anonymousreply 39010/06/2020

I said Argentina. Oops.

by Anonymousreply 39110/06/2020

I’m surprised nobody got FJ. I found that easy, but I’ve always been horrified by that particular Bible story.

by Anonymousreply 39210/07/2020

I was forced to attend Sunday school for 6 years, and that Bible story really freaked me out too.

by Anonymousreply 39310/07/2020

Holly thought Abraham Lincoln was still alive in 1876.

Sheldon thought Annie Leibovitz was alive and photographing in 1936.

by Anonymousreply 39410/07/2020

R391: As did I.

by Anonymousreply 39510/08/2020

The sword swallower blew it when she guessed "Cartier" and lost $800 on the last question. She was the only one who got FJ, which was a toughie, and she could have won if she'd still had that extra $800 to wager.

by Anonymousreply 39610/08/2020

R396, She wasn't the only one to get FJ. Garrett also correctly guessed Hispaniola.

by Anonymousreply 39710/08/2020

Thanks - got that wrong. And I guessed Haiti...

by Anonymousreply 39810/09/2020

Brian was cute but kind of dumb. FJ was obvious.

by Anonymousreply 39910/09/2020

Barbara the bagel maker sounds like Patti "Laugh In" Deutsch.

by Anonymousreply 40010/12/2020

They gave Michael a looooong time to answer that Daily Double and he still couldn’t come up with it.

by Anonymousreply 40110/12/2020

FJ was hard. I guessed mosquitoes.

by Anonymousreply 40210/12/2020

I had cicadas. Then I remembered monarch butterflies before Alex’s hint, but after time was up

by Anonymousreply 40310/12/2020

I initially thought perhaps la cucaracha, but nobody would put that on a flag, but cicada seemed the more obvious choice. Both my thoughts were wrong.

by Anonymousreply 40410/13/2020

I also guessed the cicada.

by Anonymousreply 40510/14/2020

When was the last time there was only one player for FJ?

How did Natt even make it to air?

by Anonymousreply 40610/14/2020

That contestant in the middle podium was goofy, tedious and annoying. So glad he didn't make it to FJ.

by Anonymousreply 40710/14/2020

"Jeopardy!” contestant Kevin Walsh found himself completely socially distanced from the competition Tuesday ― and it had nothing to do with the game show’s coronavirus safeguards.

Walsh was the only contestant to advance to “Final Jeopardy!” after opposing players Alex Switzky and Natt Supab failed to show a profit in the regular portion.

“The stage looks like a very lonely place right now,” host Alex Trebek said as Walsh stood alone at his podium. “I cannot recall the last time we had only one player in ‘Final Jeopardy'.

by Anonymousreply 40810/14/2020

What were Natt’s pronouns?

by Anonymousreply 40910/14/2020

If Jack needs some consolation, I'm available.

by Anonymousreply 41010/14/2020
What were Natt’s pronouns?

He was such an idiot, his pronouns are probably "and" and "or"!

by Anonymousreply 41110/14/2020

Natt was a "she".

by Anonymousreply 41210/14/2020

I haven't got FJ in days. The bearded dude was a big hunk.

by Anonymousreply 41310/14/2020

Today’s FJ was easy if you watch any Marvel films.

by Anonymousreply 41410/14/2020

R413, Indeed. I was picturing him naked as he spoke.

by Anonymousreply 41510/14/2020

So glad the honeymooning lady lawyer eked out a win.

Kevin had to be one of the most boring champions ever.

by Anonymousreply 41610/15/2020

Alex was the only Type A on the show tonight.

by Anonymousreply 41710/15/2020

Oops, I guessed Rodeo too. Aaron's blue sweater was nice, but clashed with that green shirt.

by Anonymousreply 41810/16/2020

Nancy the lezzie responding "What is a dyke?" was hilarious.

by Anonymousreply 41910/19/2020

No one cute and gay on tonight...

by Anonymousreply 42010/19/2020

Nancy reminded me a little of Nancy.

Why could I not get FJ? I love Kool and the Gang.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 42110/19/2020

Alex seems exasperated by the recent run of dim contestants. When none of the three got the very first answer, "What is roll out the barrel?", he knew what he was in for tonight. Carlos looks a bit like young Jeff Goldblum.

by Anonymousreply 42210/20/2020

R422, That game was torture to watch with so many non or dumb responses.

The honeymooning lady lawyer champ really shit the marriage bed at the end, deep in the red.

A three day total of just $24K?

by Anonymousreply 42310/20/2020

Is it me or have the contestants been kind of lethargic, lately. Also, how do you miss a question about, "The Grapes of Wrath".

by Anonymousreply 42410/21/2020

Aimee needs a Valium.

by Anonymousreply 42510/21/2020

R425 Ha. I was thinking she needs needs to cut back on her caffeine intake.

by Anonymousreply 42610/21/2020

Finally, three bright contestants and a great game. Cole was on fire, but the FJ category was clearly not his strength.

by Anonymousreply 42710/21/2020

I dunno, R427, it would seem that as a writer, an FJ category about a writer should have been Cole's greatest strength.

by Anonymousreply 42810/21/2020

That's true, I forgot he was a writer. One of the few questions he missed was a Broadway daily double, and I thought maybe plays and movies weren't his thing.

by Anonymousreply 42910/21/2020

Good see-saw game tonight until the two guys tanked. Jon had nice hair.

by Anonymousreply 43010/30/2020

Yeah, sorry Jon lost. The champ seems nice, but not a lot of personality.

by Anonymousreply 43110/31/2020

That was a giveaway FJ.

by Anonymousreply 43211/02/2020

It's amazing how tepid these shows are with most of the contestants within driving distance of the studio!

by Anonymousreply 43311/03/2020

The Jeopardy thread used to be hopping. What’s going on?

by Anonymousreply 43411/03/2020

I think someone suggested they are paywalled, but I'm not sure...

by Anonymousreply 43511/03/2020

Darn, Jeopardy was cancelled tonight due to the election...

by Anonymousreply 43611/03/2020

And Alex has died. RIP

by Anonymousreply 43711/08/2020

Weird weekend -- Awakened yesterday to the uplifting news of Biden's win and this morning to the sad news of Alex's death.

by Anonymousreply 43811/08/2020

The year 2020 can't be over soon enough.

Having watched Jeopardy for years and years, I was really shocked to hear this.

There are enough episodes to last until Christmas.

We've all seen this, but it's worth repeating . . .

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 43911/08/2020

Fittingly, as a tribute to Alex, it was a great game on Mon. with three smart contestants. I 'm quite attracted to tall Ben; a little intense, but the side shots showed he has a nice ass.

by Anonymousreply 44011/09/2020
Lovely gesture. The Carillon on Parliament Hill plays theme from Jeopardy! in honour of Alex Trebek. RIP.

by Anonymousreply 44111/09/2020

R439: It was a beautiful gesture on his part.

by Anonymousreply 44211/10/2020

R440, Ben has "Andy Cohen eyes".

by Anonymousreply 44311/10/2020

Ben should have got FJ.

by Anonymousreply 44411/10/2020

It was funny to see Mariah's studied focus on the teleprompter when she read clues about her own career.

by Anonymousreply 44511/11/2020

No comments on John, "Jeopardy!" champion for Friday, November 13th? Because I kept picturing him bare chested.

by Anonymousreply 44611/14/2020

John looked good in uniform. He's super smart, especially with history, but his Achilles heel may be the arts.

by Anonymousreply 44711/14/2020

Here is John all decked out in another uniform . . .

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 44811/15/2020

Is he wed? Couldn't tell if he had a ring.

by Anonymousreply 44911/15/2020

I looked on Friday, and he wasn't wearing one.

by Anonymousreply 45011/15/2020

Surprised John missed FJ. Good game, though. Bold Double Jeopardy wagers by the new champ.

by Anonymousreply 45111/16/2020

FJ was so obvious, very surprised that John missed it.

At least we discovered that he is a married father.

by Anonymousreply 45211/16/2020

Tougher FJ today, for me at least. Kevin was cute and had a sexy, slow-talker voice.

by Anonymousreply 45311/18/2020

Andy was really cute when he was a bit younger.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 45411/19/2020

So were we all!

by Anonymousreply 45511/19/2020

R454, He's not exactly ready for the recycling bin now.

by Anonymousreply 45611/19/2020

I find current champ Henry very sexy, even though he's not my physical type of guy.

His breadth of knowledge is quite impressive.

by Anonymousreply 45711/24/2020

I’d watch a Ryan/Henry sex tape.

by Anonymousreply 45811/25/2020

Ryan is a gay! He got Cher.

The other two gave stupid responses.

by Anonymousreply 45911/25/2020

While I'll miss Henry with his BDF and long fingers, I find Ryan's smile to be really sexy.

Plus (as was mentioned above) he got Cher.

That woman at the end was a real idiot for most of the show.

It seemed like she was guessing at most of the responses she gave - just throwing out answers, hoping that they would be correct.

by Anonymousreply 46011/25/2020

I like to see Henry in his water polo gear.

by Anonymousreply 46111/25/2020

I loved big-dicked Zack.

by Anonymousreply 46211/26/2020

The champ is doing great. Gabriel started out well until he got to the first daily double. How could he not know that Toni Morrison wrote The Bluest Eye?

by Anonymousreply 46311/27/2020

Great game for Ryan after a slow start: strategic $9000 Daily Double wager (it was an easy question), then nailing FJ, which was insanely difficult.

by Anonymousreply 46411/27/2020

Gabriel was insufferable. Glad he lost and that Alex didn’t have to spend what little time he had left dealing with his pomposity. I’ve never had coffee or seen a Star Wars movie. What a douche nozzle.

by Anonymousreply 46511/28/2020

Gabriel was a good player, even if he didn't posses the charisma.

by Anonymousreply 46611/30/2020

I knew FJ! It seemed easy but I guess those young ‘uns don’t know Monty Python.

by Anonymousreply 46711/30/2020

I’m so glad Ryan beat fatass Ben.

by Anonymousreply 46811/30/2020

I love Monty Python and still missed FJ. Ryan is an amazing player.

by Anonymousreply 46911/30/2020

Me too. FJ was totally baffling for me.

by Anonymousreply 47012/01/2020

What a surprising upset victory!

by Anonymousreply 47112/02/2020

As someone who loves Melville, I could kick myself for being stumped by FJ.

by Anonymousreply 47212/02/2020

I guessed Heathcliff...

by Anonymousreply 47312/02/2020

I guessed the Count of Monte Cristo too. Tricky when revenge against a non-human wasn't on my radar...

by Anonymousreply 47412/02/2020

What a surprise! The mousy mediocre contestant takes it all. No one was more surprised than she was. I didn't guess Moby either. A great question for FJ.

by Anonymousreply 47512/03/2020

I figured Final was about Moby Dick. Between the 1851 publication date and the mention of revenge, that was pretty obvious.

But I blanked on the name of Captain Ahab!

by Anonymousreply 47612/03/2020

1851 was a dead giveaway.

by Anonymousreply 47712/04/2020

FJ tonight - I was torn between Cyprus and Malta, but ultimately chose Malta.

by Anonymousreply 47812/04/2020

I too figured Final was either Cyprus or Malta, but I chose Cyprus.

by Anonymousreply 47912/05/2020

I chose . . . wisely.

by Anonymousreply 48012/05/2020

That was a gutsy late in the game DD by Katherine.

FJ seemed pretty obvious to me.

by Anonymousreply 48112/08/2020

Wow. No one guessed "West Side Story" for FJ. Those three should get on DL.

by Anonymousreply 48212/11/2020

I was shocked as well. I knew the answer halfway into reading it.

by Anonymousreply 48312/12/2020

I knew the hockey-playing lesbian would not get FJ.

by Anonymousreply 48412/12/2020

I've just finished watching several episodes back to back. Weird that the show had lesbians in the #3 slot on both Thursday and Friday. I found myself wondering, "Is this the designated lesbian slot?"

Yes, West Side Story was obvious However, I will point out, Broadway has been closed since March and therefore Broadway happenings aren't making the news routinely like they would if normally.

by Anonymousreply 48512/12/2020

Contestants lately seem to be less knowledgeable about literature and theater. They’re Philistines.

by Anonymousreply 48612/12/2020

How could Wicked be a revival when the original Broadway production is/was still running?

by Anonymousreply 48712/12/2020

FJ clue included "Joan Sutherland", and yet only one contestant guessed "Sydney Opera House".

by Anonymousreply 48812/14/2020

Not everyone knows he she was . . . or where she was born.

by Anonymousreply 48912/15/2020

Name Joan Sutherland means nothing to me.

by Anonymousreply 49012/15/2020

Well, Brayden sure recovered nicely from that lame mini-golf story at the start.

by Anonymousreply 49112/15/2020

Has there ever been an easier Final Jeopardy question than Tuesday's about O Magazine?

by Anonymousreply 49212/16/2020

What kind of mini-golf courses have live alligators nearby?

by Anonymousreply 49312/16/2020

I actually thought of Mad Magazine at first. 🙃☺️

by Anonymousreply 49412/16/2020

I actually thought of Mad Magazine at first. 🙃☺️

by Anonymousreply 49512/16/2020

Whoa . . . How hot was Spencer?

by Anonymousreply 49612/16/2020

I'd love to get lost in the wilderness with Spencer on one of his meandering hikes.

by Anonymousreply 49712/16/2020

Teja was handsome and smart. Brayden appears to be unstoppable, super fast on the buzzer and getting all the Daily Doubles, although Rostand tripped him up in FJ.

by Anonymousreply 49812/17/2020

Brayden also seems to be enjoying his success more and more. He's at least started to smile now and then.

by Anonymousreply 49912/18/2020

Devon = Ron Burgundy

Maybe he can take over as host...

I had no idea for FJ.

by Anonymousreply 50012/18/2020

R499, Brayden seems a bit off. He feigns embarrassment when he’s kicking his opponents’ asses.

by Anonymousreply 50112/18/2020

I guessed Hallmark for Final because of the reference to envelopes.

by Anonymousreply 50212/19/2020

I would have guessed 3M too.

by Anonymousreply 50312/19/2020

Normally, watching Jeopardy is one of the ways I unwind from a long day. It's usually very relaxing.

Tuesday's episode was anything but relaxing. It was 15 or more years old and was clearly sped up to get the entire episode in plus all the commericials. But it was so sped up, I felt like I was moving at super speed. I felt more wired and wound up after watching it than I did before I started watching.

If all the episodes from this two week retrospective are sped up like this, I may have to skip it.

I thought Christmas Day was when they were scheduled to air the last show with Alex Trebek, but they only replayed an older game form years ago.

by Anonymousreply 50501/04/2021

That was the original intent, but they moved Trebek's final episodes to this week, with his last appearance being on Friday.

by Anonymousreply 50601/04/2021

Show wants high ratings for the final week of Trebek shows, viewership often goes down during the holidays. So they showed repeats for two weeks and are airing his final episodes this week.

Anyone else finding Jeopardy! Executive Producer Mike Richards sexy as hell?

I didn't get FJ, even though I've read the book. David really mucked up that $10,000 Daily Double.

by Anonymousreply 50901/04/2021

Yeah, poor David. He shouldn't have forgotten the pen.

Jennings continues to prove his asshole-ness and that he is unfit to lead Jeopardy.

Fuck him.

FJ was SO hard. I had no idea that Carolus is Latin for Charles.

by Anonymousreply 51301/05/2021

Carlos is Spanish for Charles. I've not seen the show, today our local ABC affiliate, was running the Georgia runoff results.

by Anonymousreply 51401/05/2021

I guessed FJ correctly, but it was a shot in the dark. Ex-champ looked pretty grumpy at his loss.

by Anonymousreply 51501/06/2021

Only reason I guessed North and South Carolina was because of the TWO states and the date.

Had never really thought before about Carolina somehow being a derivative of Charles.

by Anonymousreply 51601/06/2021

Can’t believe I missed FJ! I love that movie. I guess I forgot the category.

by Anonymousreply 51701/06/2021

As Alex said, another hard FJ. Would never have got it. I like the new champ.

by Anonymousreply 51801/06/2021

I initially guessed 1917 for Final, then realized it came out in 2019. I then quickly realized the answer was Wonder Woman. Not sure I would have had enough time to get my answer written down before time was up.

by Anonymousreply 51901/06/2021

Just bumping this up because tonight was Alex's last appearance.

by Anonymousreply 52001/08/2021

Nice clip montage of Alex at the end of his last show.

by Anonymousreply 52101/08/2021

Future trivia question -- What was Alex's final Final Jeopardy question?

by Anonymousreply 52201/09/2021

It's too bad Alex's final game was not more competitive.

by Anonymousreply 52301/09/2021

Goodbye Alex.

Hopefully they will find someone better to replace you than that smug, unfunny Mormon.

by Anonymousreply 52401/09/2021

If you missed it, here is the tribute.

by Anonymousreply 52501/09/2021

Actually, Katie Couric might make a good permanent replacement as long as she reins in the cutesy factor.

by Anonymousreply 52601/09/2021

That would be impossible, r526. And please, no Meredith Vierra.

by Anonymousreply 52701/09/2021

Well, we get to sample Ken as a host starting tonight.

Wonder if he'll be any better than he was on his new game show The Chase?

by Anonymousreply 528Last Monday at 10:48 AM

Well I'm not looking forward to Ken.

If it had to be a major Jeopardy player, I'd rather it be Brad Rutter.

by Anonymousreply 529Last Monday at 12:12 PM

Just watched it here in the Midwest. He’s low energy and his voice is kind of feeble. He’s pleasant enough, but that alone won’t get the job done.

by Anonymousreply 530Last Monday at 1:12 PM

I thought he did well. Seemed to lose some steam towards the end, but he'll develop the pacing. Nerves might have been a part of that.

Nice tribute he gave to Alex in the beginning.

by Anonymousreply 531Last Monday at 3:27 PM

Yeah, he wasn’t a complete disaster.

He said nice things about Alex and he seemed to really choke up at times.

It felt like he was sort of rushing but he was alright.

by Anonymousreply 532Last Monday at 4:19 PM

I though Ken was fine too. Nice suit. The new champ had a great comeback and scored in a very broad range of categories. I love Elvis, but missed FJ.

by Anonymousreply 533Last Monday at 5:23 PM

Me too. I guess a rudimentary knowledge of Spanish would have helped. Which I do not have.

by Anonymousreply 534Last Tuesday at 3:55 AM

I thought Ken did a fine job. He's merely mimicking what Alex did at the moment and he did fine with that. Yes, he seemed to have had a little bit of nerves, but WHO WOULDN'T hosting the first show after Alex's death? I imagine Ken will develop his own style once he gets some shows under his belt.

Ken did a very nice tribute to Alex at first. There was also a nice tribute at the end of end credits.

I imagine Brad Rutter will be given a shot at being guest host. I think Brad will do well as host too. Likely James Holzhauer will get a shot at guest host as well, but I suspect he will be very poor as host.

Final was fairly obvious. I don't speak Spanish, but know enough to know "Viva" means "Live." With the reference to a hit song and movie of the same name in 1964, it didn't take much to figure out it was Viva Las Vegas.

by Anonymousreply 535Last Tuesday at 10:39 AM

Lucy is super smart. Nice FJ category for an animal lover. Checkers wasn't a bad guess.

by Anonymousreply 536Last Tuesday at 6:17 PM

Very good game! Liked Lucy a lot. Remembering the name of that dog was impressive. Checkers was the only thing I could come up with and I knew that was wrong.

There, fixed it for you...

Anyone watching The Chase on ABC on Thursday nights? It's a game show featuring contestants trying to match wits in trivia competitions with Ken Jennings, Brad Rutter and James Holzhauser. Show debuted just after the New Year

Each week, one of the three Jeopardy champs goes up against the contestants. So far, Ken and James have gone up against contestants. Presumably, Brad will go next week.

As far as their performance, let's just say that Ken was affable enough, but James came across as a complete jerk.

Any thoughts I had about whether James could be host of Jeopardy were erased after watching him on The Chase.

by Anonymousreply 541a day ago

I thought Ken was great: the small talk during the contestant chats can be painfully awkward , but he handled it well all week.
