The show is basically dead. How would you clean house and get it back on track... or is it a lost cause at this point?
How Would You Revive "The Simpsons"

It's too late now (it just needs to stop) but they should have aged the characters every few years. Why do they insist on always freezing all cartoons in time? It would have been fun to see the kids age and cope with the world and NEW situations instead of the tired shit they've been redoing over and over again.

Set the show in a post-apocalyptic America.

Al Jean needs to go. He needed to a LONG time back.
They need to age up Bart and Lisa to teens. They can recon Maggie and keep her as a baby and keep the rest of the town (except the kids) their ages.
They need to have writers that have watched the show. There are still lots of good ideas but they keep doing the same show over and over

Let it die.

Why bother?

The Simpsons need to adopt a new character. Maybe a cousin?

Get rid of the guest stars and Al Jean.

They could squeeze another decade if they aged the kids. Married one of them off. Send them to college. Follow Maggie through High School. Homer and Marge divorce. Spin-off Marge's sisters etc.

Options:
1. The Simpsons could move to Los Angeles (with the kids in boarding schools) with the surprise twist that Mr. Burns has also relocated and will still be Homer's employer.
2. The Simpsons could move to San Francisco above an Italian restaurant with Marge getting a job at magazine.
3. They could win the lottery.
4. They could change Homer's look and voice, but act like he's always been that way.
4.

Make Homer and Marge pre-school age and call it “Baby Simpsons” with cute animal friends that resemble Lisa, Bart and Maggie.

VAULT IT FOR A DECADE. CANCEL THE SHOW ALREADY.
Then come back and actually let the characters age. Where Bart and Lisa have their own families and Homer is the bumbling grandpa.
SIMPSONS: THE NEXT GENERATION.
But only if you give the public a FUCKING BREAK from the show already.

Fire Al Jean, no celeb cameos, bring it back 4x a year for one hour specials.
