Biden and Sanders will face off in first one-on-one debate tonight
**Official Democratic Debate Thread - 03.15.2020**
by Anonymous | reply 547 | March 17, 2020 5:52 PM |
What time does it start?
by Anonymous | reply 1 | March 15, 2020 11:36 PM |
Sorry boomers, I have to watch the latest 90 Day Fiance.
I hope you two oldsters comport yourselves with dignity in these trying times.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | March 15, 2020 11:36 PM |
R1, it starts at 8 p.m. EST.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | March 15, 2020 11:37 PM |
My bet would be that Burnie goes all in intentionally trying to antagonize and fluster Biden in hopes that he can make Biden look bad.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | March 15, 2020 11:38 PM |
No interest in this. BurnOut’s campaign ended on Super Tuesday.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | March 15, 2020 11:40 PM |
Thank you, r3. Hopefully it'll be streamed on YouTube.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | March 15, 2020 11:41 PM |
It should stream live on CNN, R6
by Anonymous | reply 7 | March 15, 2020 11:42 PM |
I'll watch until 9:00 when Westworld returns. I've waited three years for a new season.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | March 15, 2020 11:44 PM |
No matter what, Reddit's r/Politics page will have a meltdown. Then come Tuesday when Joe demolishes Bernie they will double down on the DNC is corrupt narrative and refuse to back Joe.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | March 15, 2020 11:44 PM |
i think Anderson is sick. I mean he's stumbling on his words, has a runny nose. Someone get him tested before he gets two close to our candidates. They are in the same room!
by Anonymous | reply 11 | March 15, 2020 11:47 PM |
[quote]intentionally trying to antagonize and fluster Biden in hopes that he can make Biden look bad
Biden can do that all by himself, R4. He doesn’t need anyone’s help.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | March 15, 2020 11:49 PM |
Quite honestly i am so freaked out about going to work tomorrow with the covid-19 Stuff I really do not want to watch. I’m voting Biden whether its a good debate or not.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | March 15, 2020 11:52 PM |
Burnie should watch trying to antagonize since he's basically at death's door with his heart issues. He really better try to keep things under control otherwise he's just expediting the inevitable for him.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | March 15, 2020 11:53 PM |
And Burnie still won't win. He just keeps humiliating himself.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | March 15, 2020 11:54 PM |
Podiums six feet apart.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | March 15, 2020 11:56 PM |
Elbow bumps!
by Anonymous | reply 17 | March 15, 2020 11:58 PM |
CNN panel sitting 6 feet apart. Bernie and Biden debating on an empty silent set with no audience. We live in strange times.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | March 15, 2020 11:58 PM |
I'm sure we can get this debate done in 30 minutes, right? Fifteen minutes each to talk is fair. Way more than they've gotten in the last debates.
I mean, unless they break into a fistfight onstage, I doubt the debate will even be mentioned in the first 30 minutes on the news tomorrow.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | March 15, 2020 11:58 PM |
I thought they were going to sit for this debate?
by Anonymous | reply 20 | March 15, 2020 11:59 PM |
r18 it's like the old JFK v Nixon Debate.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | March 15, 2020 11:59 PM |
What if Biden and Bernie announced that were teaming up--Biden as Pres, Bernie as VP--to go against Trump starting tonight.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | March 16, 2020 12:00 AM |
Moderators are not 6 feet apart.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | March 16, 2020 12:01 AM |
Why would Biden want Burnie on his ticket? He doesn't need him.
Democrats have clearly told Burnie he's humiliating himself and are not interested.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | March 16, 2020 12:02 AM |
Good point r23!
by Anonymous | reply 25 | March 16, 2020 12:02 AM |
90 seconds to answer questions. Great. Another farce.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | March 16, 2020 12:02 AM |
Then Biden would lose support, r22.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | March 16, 2020 12:02 AM |
Burn Out should have requested he be in a bubble considering his major health issues.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | March 16, 2020 12:02 AM |
Joe, stop coughing!!!! Bernie, change your damn tie.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | March 16, 2020 12:04 AM |
And Joe pulls his first “my time is up” when he runs out of words. Yay.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | March 16, 2020 12:04 AM |
Perfect answer!! Bernie! Shut the President up. Yes.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | March 16, 2020 12:04 AM |
Burnie doesn't even answer what HE would do.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | March 16, 2020 12:05 AM |
And Joe opens with a cough.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | March 16, 2020 12:06 AM |
Burnie does what Burnie does.. states what he thinks is LACKING but has no plan or idea as to how to implement it.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | March 16, 2020 12:07 AM |
Meh, I tried. I'll watch the highlights tomorrow.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | March 16, 2020 12:07 AM |
Oh Joe.....which virus???
by Anonymous | reply 36 | March 16, 2020 12:07 AM |
They’re both SO OLD.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | March 16, 2020 12:07 AM |
Is Bernie wearing new glasses or am I just not used to these prolonged closeups. They look fine, but I've noticed this.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | March 16, 2020 12:08 AM |
Burnie looks like he's about to pass out.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | March 16, 2020 12:08 AM |
Yeah, they're both... who they are.
I don't see how this changes anything, although it's ten minutes in.
It's more of the same.
by Anonymous | reply 40 | March 16, 2020 12:09 AM |
Serious question, is Burnie a moron?
He can't answer any question that's actually asked of him.
Once again, he's asked what he would do to make sure that supplies are available... and all he does is repeat the problem but offers NO solution.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | March 16, 2020 12:10 AM |
Bernie's already pivoted to M4A. I mean, yes, but not sure that's what people want to here right now.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | March 16, 2020 12:10 AM |
Good answer from Joe on M4A.
by Anonymous | reply 43 | March 16, 2020 12:11 AM |
Wouldn't it be great if Bernie used his closing remarks to announce he's dropping out and throwing his support behind Biden and directs his his supporters to do so, too?
by Anonymous | reply 44 | March 16, 2020 12:11 AM |
This was such a bad idea. You don't want your nominee to look like ancient and this debate makes them look ancient.
Woops, first shots fired. Joe you better be ready for a rebuttal because Bernie is about to snatch wigs.
by Anonymous | reply 45 | March 16, 2020 12:11 AM |
Joe nailed that point about Italy being single payer and it not working.
by Anonymous | reply 46 | March 16, 2020 12:12 AM |
This is pathetic and awful.
No fucking way I'll make it through two hours of this shit!
Later, bitches. They both suck....hard!
by Anonymous | reply 47 | March 16, 2020 12:12 AM |
Burnie's too preoccupied trying to figure out how not to clutch his chest for the next twenty minutes.
by Anonymous | reply 48 | March 16, 2020 12:12 AM |
[quote]I thought they were going to sit for this debate?
That was a fake rumor started by the BernieBros who said Joe was so weak he needed to sit. It wasn't true.
We're in a lot of trouble if people are believing the stupid shit the Bros are saying on Twitter.
by Anonymous | reply 49 | March 16, 2020 12:12 AM |
I've already lost count of Joe's verbal flubs.
by Anonymous | reply 50 | March 16, 2020 12:13 AM |
[quote] What if Biden and Bernie announced that were teaming up--Biden as Pres, Bernie as VP--to go against Trump starting tonight.
I can't see Bernie accepting second fiddle, he would rather stay in the Senate, VP has no power and Bernie wants power. Biden could sideline him if he wanted to and all he could do is sit around hoping Biden would die before Bernie does.
by Anonymous | reply 51 | March 16, 2020 12:13 AM |
R44 sure that would be great... it would also be great to go back in time to 2016 and make sure that Hillary didn't get fucked over. We'd actually have a better shot of doing that than getting Burnie to do what you proposed.
by Anonymous | reply 52 | March 16, 2020 12:13 AM |
Zzzzzzzzzzzz
by Anonymous | reply 53 | March 16, 2020 12:13 AM |
HAAHA.. Joe calling Burnie out for his answer not having ANYTHING to do with what is going on.
by Anonymous | reply 54 | March 16, 2020 12:14 AM |
Why does Biden listen to moderators’ question with his mouth open? Does that help him hear better?
by Anonymous | reply 55 | March 16, 2020 12:14 AM |
Considering some countries with M4A are also struggling right now, I don't think I would harp on it if I were Bernie. People want to know how the here and now will be fixed. Where's the plan for preparedness?
by Anonymous | reply 56 | March 16, 2020 12:15 AM |
Why is Burnie unable to answer any question that is asked by the moderators?
by Anonymous | reply 57 | March 16, 2020 12:15 AM |
Oh here we go. Bernie calling Biden bought and paid.
by Anonymous | reply 58 | March 16, 2020 12:16 AM |
Is this bullshit really supposed to go on for more than 30 minutes?
by Anonymous | reply 59 | March 16, 2020 12:16 AM |
Biden's doing pretty well.
by Anonymous | reply 60 | March 16, 2020 12:16 AM |
Anyone else tracking the number of times Joe says: This is a WAR!
by Anonymous | reply 61 | March 16, 2020 12:16 AM |
Biden is doing better than I thought he would. Sounds like he made sure to grease up his face and put on his brass knuckles before taking the stage.
by Anonymous | reply 62 | March 16, 2020 12:17 AM |
[quote]Why is Burnie unable to answer any question that is asked by the moderators?
He's just pushing medicare for all. He has yet answer what he would do now.
by Anonymous | reply 63 | March 16, 2020 12:17 AM |
This is madness. Biden and every watching is forced to sit through this because Bernie, with statistically no path to the nomination, forced us to have this stupid debate.
by Anonymous | reply 64 | March 16, 2020 12:17 AM |
Bernie, where are your taxes? Bernie, where are your medical records??
by Anonymous | reply 65 | March 16, 2020 12:18 AM |
I wish Liz and Pete and some of the others were in this debate. It would have been nice to have some other voices discussing this pressing pandemic issue and hear their ideas on how they would handle it.
by Anonymous | reply 66 | March 16, 2020 12:18 AM |
R63 exactly, because he can't.
by Anonymous | reply 67 | March 16, 2020 12:18 AM |
Burnie is shifting so much back and forth it looks like he's afraid a shit is about to fall out.
by Anonymous | reply 68 | March 16, 2020 12:19 AM |
Omg Bernie STFU
by Anonymous | reply 69 | March 16, 2020 12:19 AM |
Yeah, Joe's old, and prone to flubs, but when he's good, he's damn good.
by Anonymous | reply 70 | March 16, 2020 12:19 AM |
I wish every debate had been without an audience. Despite the fact that Bernie only has one talking point, this is more substantive by an order of magnitude.
by Anonymous | reply 71 | March 16, 2020 12:20 AM |
good on joe on the military answer. bernie doesnt get it. Ebola / pandemic = po tay toe / po ta toe
by Anonymous | reply 72 | March 16, 2020 12:20 AM |
I'm biased for Biden, but Bernie's coming across as a desperate nag.
This debate is changing nothing.
by Anonymous | reply 73 | March 16, 2020 12:20 AM |
Jesus, Burnie can't help but continue to humiliate himself.
Joe is on point with his talking points and Burnie is flailing just throwing out buzzwords that have no context to anything that's being asked.
by Anonymous | reply 74 | March 16, 2020 12:20 AM |
Yes Joe! Drag that hoe with your experience. This is not the time to call for M4A.
by Anonymous | reply 75 | March 16, 2020 12:20 AM |
[quote]Despite the fact that Bernie only has one talking point
LOL - Well, one of the consequences for China is that this country should have medicare for all...
by Anonymous | reply 76 | March 16, 2020 12:21 AM |
More close ups of Joe! He looks good!
by Anonymous | reply 77 | March 16, 2020 12:22 AM |
One of the consequences for China should be... you know let me just say American's REALLY need M4A!
by Anonymous | reply 78 | March 16, 2020 12:22 AM |
Bernie's like please don't call on me. He's now just stealing Joe's answers.
by Anonymous | reply 79 | March 16, 2020 12:23 AM |
Joe really does know what the fuck he's talking about.
Bernie has nice ideas but he is totally consumed with domestic policy and can't really get his head around the international or show any real command of it.
by Anonymous | reply 80 | March 16, 2020 12:23 AM |
Joe is in pretty good form tonight.
by Anonymous | reply 81 | March 16, 2020 12:25 AM |
Burnie what would you do about the interest rate:
Well, first, I would make sure ALL Americans have M4A!
by Anonymous | reply 82 | March 16, 2020 12:25 AM |
Oh, yeah, Bros. This guy totally has dementia.
by Anonymous | reply 83 | March 16, 2020 12:25 AM |
I wish there was more Trump bashing, though.
by Anonymous | reply 84 | March 16, 2020 12:25 AM |
Zzzz who even cares, joe is the nominee. Just go home ancient burntard.
by Anonymous | reply 85 | March 16, 2020 12:25 AM |
And they say Biden has dementia... all Bern can talk about is healthcare.
Granpa, what day is it?
HEALTHCARE!
by Anonymous | reply 86 | March 16, 2020 12:26 AM |
LOL... wait a second.. isn't this asshole the one who just a minute ago said the Ebola Virus was not the same and had nothing to do with anything?
by Anonymous | reply 87 | March 16, 2020 12:26 AM |
On reddit, they are complaining that Bernie is always too nice to Biden.
I was in debate and I feel like he is one of the debaters that doesn't prepare. He knows a few things and fills the rest with buzz words. He is 100% not a details guy, just a big ideas person. Trump is the same way, just fill up the time with shit.
by Anonymous | reply 88 | March 16, 2020 12:26 AM |
And Bernie's asked about monetary policy and pivots to billionaires.
by Anonymous | reply 89 | March 16, 2020 12:26 AM |
It would be hilarious if Burnie just fucking said, "fuck it, I can't do this shit no more. I'm done."
That would be less humiliating for him than his performance now.
by Anonymous | reply 90 | March 16, 2020 12:27 AM |
It appears as if Joe is on a roll now.
by Anonymous | reply 91 | March 16, 2020 12:27 AM |
Stop spelling it Burnie Jesus Christ
by Anonymous | reply 92 | March 16, 2020 12:27 AM |
OMG debates should be like this going forward. No audience interruptions. No anchors pandering. This is wonderful and so is Joe!
We need to deal with this NOW...Joe.
by Anonymous | reply 93 | March 16, 2020 12:28 AM |
I think it's hilarious whenever Bern Outs try to declare Joe as being mentally incompetent and they conveniently forget that humiliating interview he did in 2016 where he didn't even know the ins and outs of his own policies.
by Anonymous | reply 94 | March 16, 2020 12:28 AM |
"made whole" sounds religious. I'm not clear I know what it means.
by Anonymous | reply 95 | March 16, 2020 12:28 AM |
Bernie is losing it. He wants to talk about the future rather than now.
by Anonymous | reply 96 | March 16, 2020 12:29 AM |
How about, no, R92?
BURNIE.
by Anonymous | reply 97 | March 16, 2020 12:29 AM |
Biden in command... I'm quite surprised. Bernie has a platform of lines but I can't get a sense of specifically how he'd do anything.
by Anonymous | reply 98 | March 16, 2020 12:29 AM |
This is worse than the Daily New transcript.
by Anonymous | reply 99 | March 16, 2020 12:30 AM |
Burnie you will neva be kween.
by Anonymous | reply 100 | March 16, 2020 12:30 AM |
Burnie should look back at this and regret that he insisted on more debates... but he's too stupid to realize he's fucked up.
by Anonymous | reply 101 | March 16, 2020 12:30 AM |
R95, “made whole” means whatever money you’re out, you’ll be compensated.
by Anonymous | reply 102 | March 16, 2020 12:30 AM |
Didn't Bernie ---who earlier said Ebola was totally different--- say "Ebloa crisis" like 4 times when he meant Coronavirus???
by Anonymous | reply 103 | March 16, 2020 12:31 AM |
Burnie needs to drop out NOW.
by Anonymous | reply 104 | March 16, 2020 12:31 AM |
[quote]"made whole" sounds religious. I'm not clear I know what it means
It's used a lot with insurance payouts. If you have a car accident, your insurance doesn't give you a new car. You're made whole by getting the value of what you've lost.
by Anonymous | reply 105 | March 16, 2020 12:31 AM |
Biden good on the bail out!
by Anonymous | reply 106 | March 16, 2020 12:32 AM |
Yup, R103 and then tried to blame it on Joe... because Burnie takes no responsibility for anything ever.
by Anonymous | reply 107 | March 16, 2020 12:32 AM |
Bernie...the banks paid it back WITH INTEREST. The gov't made money on the bank bailout.
by Anonymous | reply 108 | March 16, 2020 12:32 AM |
I really thought Bernie would have been spending the last several days practicing his talking points and coming up with more substantive answers, hoping to persuade more voters and get him out of the hole he's in. Instead it's just buzzwords and anger. Again.
by Anonymous | reply 109 | March 16, 2020 12:32 AM |
Biden just stomped on Burnie's nuts with the bail out and how it'd harm the people he supposedly cares about.
But it's obvious that Burnie likes to get his nuts stomped on.
by Anonymous | reply 110 | March 16, 2020 12:32 AM |
Wow, if Joe had been in this kind of forum all along, he'd have secured the nomination already.
by Anonymous | reply 111 | March 16, 2020 12:32 AM |
Didn't Burnie just lie about the Automotive Bailout?
by Anonymous | reply 112 | March 16, 2020 12:33 AM |
R109... too much group think. That's what happens when you're running a movement. They self-reinforce.
by Anonymous | reply 113 | March 16, 2020 12:33 AM |
[quote]Bernie has a platform of lines but I can't get a sense of specifically how he'd do anything.
Exactly. What a huge mistake on his part. He could have come out with even just a few figures and a list of how things would get done, and he would have been praised by all. Instead he's phoning it in with the same old shtick we've heard for over four years now, and nothing of substance.
by Anonymous | reply 114 | March 16, 2020 12:34 AM |
Joe is competent tonight, but sooooooooooooo boring.
Not a great performance for Bernie either.
by Anonymous | reply 115 | March 16, 2020 12:34 AM |
Bernie the banks PAID IT BACK WITH INTEREST.
by Anonymous | reply 116 | March 16, 2020 12:34 AM |
[quote]Joe is competent tonight, but sooooooooooooo boring.
I know!!! I'm hard. This is way better than covfefe.
by Anonymous | reply 117 | March 16, 2020 12:35 AM |
Burnie in his ill fitting suit literally looks like a corpse in a casket.
by Anonymous | reply 118 | March 16, 2020 12:35 AM |
drink every time bernie says m4A
by Anonymous | reply 119 | March 16, 2020 12:36 AM |
Oh my God. Joe gives a great answer about undocumented people with COVID, and Bernie goes to....M4A.
by Anonymous | reply 120 | March 16, 2020 12:36 AM |
Sucks for Burnie that like Hillary, Joe is well informed and understands how things works...
You'd think Burnie would have spent the last 4 years trying to learn how ANYTHING works.
by Anonymous | reply 121 | March 16, 2020 12:36 AM |
Ow-ah en-teye-ah staff is working from home. And so ah my trolls!
by Anonymous | reply 122 | March 16, 2020 12:37 AM |
Lol joe already has it in the bag sweetie, he'll steam roll burnie in floriduh.
by Anonymous | reply 123 | March 16, 2020 12:37 AM |
Christ... where did this Biden come from?
by Anonymous | reply 124 | March 16, 2020 12:38 AM |
What are you doing Burnie to protect yourself from the virus?
I'm demanding more debates! And we wouldn't have to worry about this if we had M4A!
by Anonymous | reply 125 | March 16, 2020 12:38 AM |
That's got to be the toughest thing for Biden.. not being able to uncomfortably touch people!
by Anonymous | reply 126 | March 16, 2020 12:38 AM |
WHOA! SLAP by Biden to Bernie!
by Anonymous | reply 127 | March 16, 2020 12:40 AM |
Oh snap, Biden just called out Bernie and getting shit done.
by Anonymous | reply 128 | March 16, 2020 12:40 AM |
I am disappointed in Joe Biden, and excited about Bernie. An hour ago I was all for Biden, and thought Bernie is a crackpot.
I smoked dope before the debate. Is that why?
by Anonymous | reply 129 | March 16, 2020 12:40 AM |
all Joe needs to do is keep saying NOW
by Anonymous | reply 130 | March 16, 2020 12:40 AM |
Biden laid out the the holes in Bernie's M4A plan, yet Bernie fails to answer any of those questions.
by Anonymous | reply 131 | March 16, 2020 12:40 AM |
I can't drive. M4A.
by Anonymous | reply 132 | March 16, 2020 12:41 AM |
Enough malarkey Burnie!
by Anonymous | reply 133 | March 16, 2020 12:41 AM |
Biden prepped for this debate. He’s focused and has the answers at his fingertips. Maybe he’s had a debate coach.
by Anonymous | reply 134 | March 16, 2020 12:41 AM |
I like Bernie... but he looks tired.
by Anonymous | reply 135 | March 16, 2020 12:42 AM |
Biden has a real politician's smile and laugh
by Anonymous | reply 136 | March 16, 2020 12:42 AM |
But.. but.. but... he's got dementia. He can't remember answers and a debate coach.
by Anonymous | reply 137 | March 16, 2020 12:43 AM |
Bernie...you have SuperPACs.
by Anonymous | reply 138 | March 16, 2020 12:43 AM |
I still won! no money and I still won!
by Anonymous | reply 139 | March 16, 2020 12:43 AM |
Moderator: Bernie, how are doing today?
Bernie: Medicare. For. ALL!
by Anonymous | reply 140 | March 16, 2020 12:44 AM |
Joe Biden has the confidence and swagger of a man who knows the Democratic Party will nominate him as their candidate to wrestle the nation back from Donald Trump. At times he wasn’t sure, but now he knows that this is his destiny.
by Anonymous | reply 141 | March 16, 2020 12:44 AM |
Burnie daring to talk about negative ads?
OH MY SIDES
by Anonymous | reply 142 | March 16, 2020 12:44 AM |
Now THIS is a debate. Two candidates and zero input from an audience.
by Anonymous | reply 143 | March 16, 2020 12:44 AM |
Damn Bernie is just like Trump, never answering a question. Pivot, pivot, pivot!!!
Also, the Bernie Bros have been quiet tonight. Where they at? You're dude was supposed to demolish Biden, hahaha!
by Anonymous | reply 144 | March 16, 2020 12:44 AM |
HA! Biden just did the "I have had enough" head shake! LOL!
by Anonymous | reply 145 | March 16, 2020 12:44 AM |
My God, Biden is in good form, tonight. He’s authoritative, logical, and making Bernie look like a fabulist. How will the bros, who were eagerly waiting for this, spin it? They’d already gotten Biden’s “cognitive decline” and “cough” trending v
by Anonymous | reply 146 | March 16, 2020 12:44 AM |
just tuning in now
how's it going so far?
by Anonymous | reply 147 | March 16, 2020 12:44 AM |
Burntard better drop out after he loses florida.

Joe should have said:
Yes, I had an idea 30 years ago... that's more than you've had.
Joe should have said:
But Burnie, remember, you say you can't control anything negative any of your supporters do, right? CHECKMATE BITCH!
by Anonymous | reply 149 | March 16, 2020 12:45 AM |
Biden’s wiping the floor with Bernie. This is a rout.
by Anonymous | reply 150 | March 16, 2020 12:45 AM |
what is Sanders accusing Biden of?
by Anonymous | reply 151 | March 16, 2020 12:45 AM |
Bernie won't answer a question. He keeps flipping things back at Joe. Just answer a question!

by Anonymous | reply 158 | March 16, 2020 12:46 AM |
Relax! (Lol) it's fine and Joe needs the debate practice.
Did you notice Bernie referred to corona as Ebola a few times? Joe's doing great so far.

Bernie is an asshole.

by Anonymous | reply 168 | March 16, 2020 12:49 AM |
Burnie has to keep pushing this so hard because he's avoiding answering the questions thrown at him.
by Anonymous | reply 169 | March 16, 2020 12:49 AM |

Biden is winning this debate, but Bernie destroyed Biden on Social Security.

by Anonymous | reply 184 | March 16, 2020 12:52 AM |
What's generating the anti-Burnie sentiment?
Burnie.
by Anonymous | reply 185 | March 16, 2020 12:52 AM |
Does Burnie really think he stands a chance against Joe at this point?
Talk about delusional.
by Anonymous | reply 186 | March 16, 2020 12:53 AM |
Bernie made one good point and that's all.
by Anonymous | reply 187 | March 16, 2020 12:53 AM |
So Burnie, what are your plans to get any of this shit done?
by Anonymous | reply 188 | March 16, 2020 12:53 AM |
r181, it's not Bots but Sanders has like 1% change to get the nomination so this whole debate and exercise is just to damage Biden. The point is the same we saw in 2016, give the republicans ammunition. Keep dividing the democrats. Bernie is a rat bastard.
by Anonymous | reply 189 | March 16, 2020 12:54 AM |
[181] I'm not a bot... I am watching the debate and having observations and I think we are all unimpressed with Bernie's crankiness. We've already had three years of a cranky unhinged president.

maybe Biden is less nervous in a more intimate setting? or just 1 on 1 action?
I know he did well against Palin and Ryan in VP debates

Joe came damn prepared. You have to give it to him.
by Anonymous | reply 193 | March 16, 2020 12:54 AM |

Joe FTW.
by Anonymous | reply 201 | March 16, 2020 12:57 AM |
The way that Biden smiles and waits Burnie out.. shows he's got what it takes. Contrasting it to Burnie makes Burnie seem even more unhinged.

Burnie touches and rubs his face every few minutes.

Welp! Biden's got this this far. I don't know what you guys are talking about that Bernie got a hit in re Soc SEC. It made sense what Biden said. Everything was on the table during a crises but that doesn't mean that it had to be cut. You look at everything when negotiating

by Anonymous | reply 234 | March 16, 2020 1:07 AM |
r181 the past week Bernie supporters kept up the drum beat that Biden has dementia and will fall apart in this debate. It. an hour in and Biden has one most of the topics, save S.S. Bernie supporters are silent because this debate was supposed to turn the tide, but as it stands Bernie is not besting Biden.
Like Mariah sang, "If it's over! Just, let, me, gooooooo." Bernie, let us go so we can focus all our resources on Trump.

This is going to dominate the headlines tomorrow. If it's the right woman then Biden just locked the woman's vote.
by Anonymous | reply 270 | March 16, 2020 1:16 AM |
I think it's about damn time to have a female VP. This Party's life blood is woman. If we wait one more term on a female VP or President, Rs will put up Nikki Haley in 2024 and win the argument.
Haha, Bernie wan't to talk about slavery? The guy that constantly pays dust to black people? Get the fuck out of here Bernie.

Former National Security Adviser Susan Rice

by Anonymous | reply 288 | March 16, 2020 1:22 AM |
The Coronavirus will be the gift that keeps on giving for Joe. While Trump was golfing and partying, 100's were becoming infected. Joe needs to make it emblematic of Trump's presidency: lies, incompetency, danger.
by Anonymous | reply 289 | March 16, 2020 1:22 AM |
So Bernie has two things he can talk about: M4A and Economic Disparity. You can ask him what day it is and he'll bring it back to one of those two issues.
I wish Joe would bring it home that Bernie is "pure" because he's impractical, that politics is incremental, that you need to vote for a GOP bill with some amendments in it or THEY WILL PASS IT WITHOUT YOUR AMENDMENTS AND THEN YOU'LL REALLY BE SCREWED.
Bernie has never seemed to grasp this.
And did not know that Biden endorsed Warren's bankruptcy plan.
by Anonymous | reply 290 | March 16, 2020 1:22 AM |
R285, I'm not saying it will be Harris. I don't personally think it will be. My comment was specifically about whether or not he can raid from teh Senate to fill that slot.
by Anonymous | reply 291 | March 16, 2020 1:22 AM |
Burnie literally looks like he's going to pass out.
by Anonymous | reply 292 | March 16, 2020 1:23 AM |
Yes, R290, those are his talking points.. the only problem is he has no PLAN for them. All he can do is talk ABOUT them and how those things are needed. He has no solutions.

Tammy Duckworth wasn't born in the US, so she can't be the nominee, same rules as POTUS, as they could end up with the office, and we need Harris as the Attorney General...
Susan Rice.

Kamala is the only acceptable choice in that list. It has to be a Californian since they ACTUALLY vote Democratic.
Nobody cares what red states that have no prayer of voting Democrating in the general election have to say.

Bernie sounds even more like Larry David in CYE tonight
He is proving why he has a hard ceiling to his support and why 22 year olds love him--they are also notoriously idealistic
by Anonymous | reply 310 | March 16, 2020 1:29 AM |
Biden is very good one on one. His difficulty previously, in retrospect, was three hundred shouting competitors. A structure that served no one.

R273, Tammy Duckworth would take off one of her fake legs and beat Mike Pence over the head with it. She’s a spitfire.

Harris would be the first woman, black and Asian Veep. She also has the resume, and I'd love to watch her destroy Pence in the VP debate.

Who has been writing a bunch of very intelligent OpEd columns in the NYT
But I don't remember what she is like in person--how she comes off on camera.
We do not need another Tim Kaine with gayvoice who let Pence (Pence!!!) beat him up

I think Biden probably suffered in the other debates because he is too polite. He doesn't really do well in trying to talk over others.

Harris bombed so, so hard during the campaign.
Hard to imagine her being resurrected
by Anonymous | reply 323 | March 16, 2020 1:33 AM |
Well, it isn't likely to happen, R318. She tanked. If it's a black woman, it'll be Rice. Though I could see Harris as a replacement for Ginsburg on the Court.

Meh, both are weak. Biden is the best by accident, but they really are a notch below Clinton and Obama.
It really is a shame that Southern states are determining the election when they always vote Republican in the general election.

Warren needs to stay in the Senate. Or the Republican governor in Massachusetts will appoint a republican to replace her. We can’t afford to lose that seat.

r323, I disagree. She stumbled at some points trying to be everything and not finding the voice she wanted. But I thought she got out too early but I get why. However when the field got smaller a lot of people I know wished she was still in it. In comparison to what we are left with, she looks damn good.

Susan Rice is tough as hell. She should be president, just what you’d want in the Veep of an elderly president.
Rice, Harris, and Warren are the only options.

Remember when "flip flopping on the issues" used to be a political attack? Seems like Biden was given a lot of room tonight to admit he held positions he no longer does. Great. That's how it should be.
Bernie's sanctimony only made him appear worse to those that are aware he's not as pure as he makes himself out to be. You voted against the Iraq war, yet voted for every surrounding piece of legislation and funded it into the trillions? You voted against closing Gitmo! Biden could have stuck the knife in without appearing like a hypocrite. If anything he was too soft on Bernie. A lot of his younger zealots do not know this about his record.

They need to worry about mitigating the threat of scorned Sanders supporters switching their votes to Trump like what happened last time. Demotivate them by demonstrating concretely he has not always been on the right side of things. That righteousness is what fuels them. Joe could have dispelled him on his own talking points instead of just bringing up the NRA stuff as a rebuttal.

I just know that save for a few mistakes, the Bernie camp didn't get the K.O. they expected from Biden. He came in calm, well rested, and prepared. Biden took this more seriously then Bernie, which is why this should be our last debate.

Very few Sanders what? See, cutting a sentence in half to get the rhetorical upperhand makes you look like a jackass.
Enough Sanders supporters switched their votes to Trump in the 2016 election in WI, PA, MI to swing the election for Trump. Telling them they're not going to vote is not the same as giving them a reason not to.

Evidence please, R444. If Sanders voters did in fact cast a vote for Trump in some sort of protest, they deserve whatever they get. You fight for Sanders as your candidate and when you don’t get him, you vote Trump? Evil disrupters just like Trump’s base of deplorables.

R447 Judging the current situation from the pass may be problematic. There's a good reason to think that of the 12% of Bernie voters that wound up voting for Trump, a considerable chunk of them is staying with Trump.
It's as strong and data-driven argument to say that lack of turnout of black voters in 2016 tipped those states to Trump.
by Anonymous | reply 448 | March 16, 2020 3:15 AM |
[quote] Evidence please, [R444].
Link below. The key part is:
[quote]Specifically, if the Sanders-Trump voters in Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania had voted for Clinton, or even stayed home on Election Day, those states would have swung to Clinton, and she would have won 46 more electoral votes, putting her at 278 — enough to win, in other words.
So they literally put Trump in the White House.

I've said this once, I'll say it again. Biden's "gaffes" aren't usually gaffes. By that I don't mean when he gets his facts wrong, but when he pauses, hesitates, uses a weird word that doesn't seem to fit his through line. It's usually Joe trying to avoid a stutter. Stuttering is very hard to understand if you're not afflicted by it. Thinking that he isn't intelligent or not all there is like saying someone with Parkinson's is stupid or not all together because they shake.
Just keep that in mind.

by Anonymous | reply 482 | March 16, 2020 11:08 AM |
I think Biden overall did very well and “held down the fort” so to speak, but I wish he had really brought home the fact (re Bernie) that’s it’s very easy to point out all the problems and failings of the world, our economy, healthcare system, etc, but a lot harder to come up with and implement a plan to fix it — and what has Bernie ever done, in his 35 year political career, to prove that he’s even remotely up to the task?
Biden kind of implies it but never just says that flat out — and he should.
by Anonymous | reply 483 | March 16, 2020 11:13 AM |
Bernie Sanders is the Donald Trump of the liberals. Like Trump's conning of his gullible base, Bernie has conned his base with saying all the things they desperately want to hear. He makes them think that if he's elected he'll have the government take care of them no matter what. He's put the idea in many of their heads that the US government is going to provide for anyone and everyone who can't, or won't, provide for themselves. And sadly, most of them have worked themselves into a fervor over it. They've lied themselves into believing they're going to get everything they want. The idea that Bernie will not be the nominee is something they simply can't fathom.

by Anonymous | reply 486 | March 16, 2020 11:46 AM |
Agreed r484. There are bots/MAGAs/Bernie supporters all over places like Reddit pushing these desperate pleas for Bernie. Following the ST blowout, they were saying that voting for anyone but Bernie meant we were "killing 100,000 Americans a year. We need healthcare now!"
Last week, it was all about how corrupt the DNC is and that Bernie is the only one that can help with their aunt/grandmother/mother's (always a female) life threatening medical treatment.
After last Tuesday's blowout the narrative shifted to a positive Bernie spin. "Oh, Bernie is actually winning because exit polls prove that most Americans want M4A, but the dirty DNC and Biden are standing in the way."
Then it went on to the dementia Joe attacks. That flopped last night.
Today through Tuesday they will probably hammer the point that Joe is liar over the S.S. debate flub. It just never ends. People on Reddit were saying things like bash his [Biden's] face in or embarrass our Party's other choice for a nominee. These people have no idea about what it means to respectfully disagree with someone while being a team player. This is why Bernie's progressive movement fails. the Bernie Bros/bots/supporters are circling the drain.

I knew all three of these people for years. It feels like everything is falling apart.

And Bernie called Corona Ebola then blamed Biden for getting the word Ebola stuck in his head. Like both of these men are close to 80 years old, mistakes will happen. Place in the situation room, Biden appears to be ready to go day one. Bernie, wasn't focused on the Corona Emergency Response question, he started talking about M4A. Trump doesn't read anything and only takes his intelligence briefings via simple bullet points. Even if Biden or Bernie gets their words mixed up both of these men would put more thought and care into this crisis. R500 Wrong. Obama deported at rates much higher than Bush. At the end of his second term he mitigated that by the DACA executive order (Dreamers) and the DAPA that was never implemented (parents of Dreamers). Biden (and anyone with any sense or reality, and concern for both humans and the economy) understand you cannot deport 11 million people. He wants to increase border security and have immigration reform, providing a path to residency for those 11 mil. Reason, humanity: remember that?

by Anonymous | reply 502 | March 16, 2020 4:51 PM |
R491, One thing I wish Biden and others would mention is that illegals don't commit more crimes than does the general population and it's probable their crime rate is lower. The majority is too busy working multiple jobs, staying under the radar, and sending money to their families.
I have a nephew who's a deputy at the county jail who said that, regionally at least, most crimes are committed by troubled white boys, druggies, transients, and regular citizens than by the undocumented. They are required to report release dates of undocumented inmates to ICE but those numbers are very small and he's never seen ICE pick anyone. They might for a murderer or another serious crimes but locally, at least, they don't bother with lesser crimes.
ICE has, however, raided businesses here who hire undocumented people and haul them off to detention centers. Local support groups show up when they can to assist the people with language translation, phone calls, etc. It rarely makes the news because ICE doesn't advertise and the businesses don't report it because they don't want it known they're hiring (and probably underpaying) the undocumented..

No, he can't, R359 and R369. It's a specific kind of stubbornness and inflexibility that won't allow for any compromise, self-awareness, or change.
My goddaughter has a friend from law school who is like that. A professor at a prestigious uni, who enrolled in law school in her mid-40s. My goddaughter graduated last June, took and passed the universal bar exam in August, and got a job in NY in November. Meanwhile, her classmate, who'd graduated 6 months earlier than Goddaughter, has taken the bar exam three times. Failed three times. Because she KNOWS what the exam masters are looking for, but REFUSES to bend even a little bit to pass the exam. Says she knows the law better than the exam creators, and "won't be held hostage" to those less-intelligent creators by "playing the game." So she'll pay for another round of test prep...and will fail again.
Which is one thing, an individual law student self-sabotaging because of extreme stiffspining, but quite another to run and get thisclose to being POTUS with the same mental block.

My takeaway from the debate:
Bernie has ideas, so many ideas. A few of them sound good but unachievable unless under perfect circumstances. Most of his ideas are unrealistic and are obviously so because he's had them, these same ideas, festering in his mind for forty years with no plans as to how to implement them. Only vague ramblings he repeats at volume with his pointer finger extended.
And if he did happen to have a plan to implement? He blatantly refuses to cooperate with others, he obstinantly won't accept that there will need to be compromise or at least a back-and-forth discussion to reach an agreement of some sort and he disrespects the process and his peers.
All those years in the Senate and he hasn't diversified his knowledge, his skill set or learned to grow from life experiences. I've had enough bombast and ignorance as president. That type has already done too much damage.
by Anonymous | reply 537 | March 16, 2020 11:05 PM |
Bernie is like Trump. He is an egoist. He ran for president, liked the crowds, the money, and the press. He believes his press. He's not a realist. Why can't he put together that there is "something" wrong with his candidacy. Let's set aside his ideas for the moment. Bernie can't answer the question about will all the exuberance for him and his campaign, and all of the money his campaign pull in, why can't he get these people to the polls to vote for him?
He's been asked this a couple of times now and he just can't give an answer. Now, a rational person would think that something isn't right here. But, not our Bernie! He's on a different planet.

Ha! I never thought of this! But, this makes sense to me. Someone started a thread about this topic;
[quote]Judge rejects Republican plot to cancel primary election in Ohio on Tuesday
The Repugs wanted to give Bernie more time to cause trouble, and get the optics of Biden sitting on the witness stand over the Burisma farce.
I think Trump's sudden interest in Covid-19 was trying to thwart Biden. The desperately need Bernie to win the nomination.
Election will go on as planned.

Bernie's plan for all those trillions relies on lots of luck.

My guess is older voter turnout will be low tomorrow. People in their 20s-30s will also be down because kids will be out of school, and I doubt parents will want to take their kids out with them to go vote.

Bernie has no path to winning. His late exit and lack of ability to unify his voters likely put Trump in office. Continuing the primaries not only drags out the inevitable, but it puts the health of many at risk. The fact that he still won’t drop out under these circumstances really says it all.

Fuck this is 2020 can’t they postpone it a couple of weeks until they set up apparatus to vote online? Seems like the easiest solution in the world.

Either Bernie or Biden or maybe both will die of Covid-19.
