A&F is moving away from superficial tones body types to REAL PEOPLE
Big is Beautiful - here is their model for the new A & F Campaign

Nice to know you A&F.
Rest In Peace.
by Anonymous | reply 1 | March 14, 2020 10:58 PM |
Ew, seriously? The whole point of A&F was to be exclusionary and feature hot guys.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | March 14, 2020 11:01 PM |
I'd definitely hit it. But it's so not their demographic.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | March 14, 2020 11:02 PM |
Who is he?
by Anonymous | reply 4 | March 14, 2020 11:05 PM |
Big is beautiful, and also very unhealthy. And costly to the medical industry.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | March 14, 2020 11:05 PM |
A & F wants to move away from the superficiality degrading way people view men's bodies
To show everyone is beautiful
What's wrong with that?
by Anonymous | reply 6 | March 14, 2020 11:08 PM |
[quote] Who is he?
The model in the OP's post, Michael McCauley.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | March 14, 2020 11:12 PM |
Too late. The company will go bankrupt soon
by Anonymous | reply 9 | March 14, 2020 11:21 PM |
AnF used to have normal sizes - I still have t-shirts and jeans from them back in the 2000s when their sizes were normal. Then they went insane and an xl was the size of a child's medium.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | March 14, 2020 11:43 PM |
That's what an attractive Flyover man looks like: meat 'n potatoes.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | March 14, 2020 11:48 PM |
The House of Skinny Jeans has issued the new skinny: We’re Not Just For Beanpoles Anymore.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | March 15, 2020 12:04 AM |
They're going for the Otezla market.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | March 15, 2020 12:20 AM |
Every purchase now comes with a ham sandwich.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | March 15, 2020 1:18 AM |
For me, it's more an interesting question of whether aspirational advertising (hot people) results in higher sales or whether relatable advertising (someone like you) will.
There is an argument that says that having people in ads in whom buyers can see themselves would yield sales. However, I'd argue that you cut out all the hot people who don't want to buy the "fat people" clothes.
Whereas, if you are more exclusionary and use hot people, hot people see themselves and not hot people purchase to see themselves...as they aspire to be.
It took a lot of work and letting Bruce Weber blow a lot of hot young models to achieve their shift in brand. I wonder how long it'll be before people start to associate AF with the Lane Bryant crowd.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | March 15, 2020 1:47 AM |
Who are they trying to bullshit? There's not a single stitch of clothing in an Abercrombie store that would fit this guy!
by Anonymous | reply 18 | March 15, 2020 5:46 AM |
So sad. They’re mid 2000s vibe was the best. Loud tasteful dance music and oversprayed fragrance. It just screamed if you don’t belong, stay out!
by Anonymous | reply 19 | March 15, 2020 5:57 AM |
Their* (Self-correcting and self-quartining)
by Anonymous | reply 20 | March 15, 2020 5:59 AM |
R19 I want to know who was picking their playlists? I mean it was someone well traveled and/or gay. Maybe it was Jeffries himself?
by Anonymous | reply 21 | March 15, 2020 6:17 AM |
Americans are so fucking fat now they had no choice.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | March 15, 2020 6:48 AM |
Bravo, but I’m still confused how they are going to get him into the clothes?
by Anonymous | reply 24 | March 15, 2020 6:49 AM |
Canadian tuxedo.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | March 15, 2020 6:56 AM |
Are they changing sizes?
Maybe it was a twenty year strategy... exclude anyone without rickets and then, just when the brand is on the vera of failure, super size it!
by Anonymous | reply 26 | March 16, 2020 4:04 PM |
Do we have a new fit-fat touchstone?
by Anonymous | reply 27 | March 16, 2020 4:05 PM |
A&F was always a store for outdoor living. They carried tents, camping wear and riding clothes.
This trendy, sexy stuff is tired, their quality is rock bottom and it's expensive.
They're going to fail anyway, maybe this could work.
The model's too fat though.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | March 16, 2020 4:15 PM |
They should have gone with Ben Napier, the big HGTV guy.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | March 16, 2020 5:54 PM |
super sexy guy
by Anonymous | reply 30 | March 16, 2020 5:58 PM |
Yeah baby ! Id climb that furry mountain ! That being said, hes young. See him in 15 years and youll hurl .
by Anonymous | reply 32 | March 16, 2020 6:03 PM |
I've always been attracted to the beefiest guy in the crowd: fit-fat. Skinny/muscly/twinky leaves me cold.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | March 16, 2020 6:07 PM |
Would climb him like a tree.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | March 16, 2020 6:08 PM |
My belief is that hot ripped guys these days are really no longer alluring enough for advertising, the decline being due to social media. The sight of pretty slim blonde girls and youthful six-pack abs in advertising just doesn't stand out like it used to because we are all so accustomed to seeing whatever instaho of the day on our phones. The "check out this Instaho" threads on here don't even stand out to me anymore personally. I just skip over them like I would any other boring thread. I think that's where the change comes from. Non-fit bodies stand out more now sadly. Like someone mentioned above, I do wonder how that will affect A&F sales I appreciate them dropping the Ivy League hotties (that got old and tacky real fast long long ago in the early 2000s). But I do wonder if this type of model really will show A&F as more accessible. I say no, but we shall see.

Or, hear me out for a second, advertisers are beginning to understand that not everyone is attracted/interested in tiny blondes and washboard stomachs.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | March 16, 2020 9:18 PM |
R10 I remember those days. They had very good quality clothing back then. I have stuff from 1998-2001 that is still wearable because it was well made. The fabric was fabric and not that sheer garbage. It’s amazing how their quality declined, but that happened with so many clothing brands.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | March 16, 2020 9:35 PM |
It's nice that a gay model actually has a "man's face" as opposed to looking like a "chiseled" androgynite.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | March 16, 2020 9:46 PM |
[quote] The whole point of A&F was to make nellie, queeny prisspots think that others would consider them butch for 2 seconds in an A&F outfit.
Fixed that for you!
by Anonymous | reply 40 | March 17, 2020 8:04 PM |
I stopped wearing A&F after I turned 30. Don’t people laugh at adults who wear that brand?
by Anonymous | reply 41 | March 17, 2020 8:06 PM |
Long before its recent woes A&F became the brand that the "50 but look 22" eldergays wore.

🤣🤣🤣
by Anonymous | reply 43 | March 17, 2020 8:10 PM |
Is A&F still relevant in the market? I don't know of any local mall that has one of their stores, and I certainly don't know of anyone who wears the clothing or buys it for their kids. Is the A&F "look" even still a thing?
by Anonymous | reply 44 | March 17, 2020 8:54 PM |
As long as you avoid the logo-emblazoned items, A&F actually makes better clothing (at their price point) than they have any need to.
by Anonymous | reply 45 | March 17, 2020 9:13 PM |
I've gotten a couple of pairs of sweats from A&F after Christmas because they're unbelievably cheap, and they are extremely well made.
by Anonymous | reply 46 | March 17, 2020 9:30 PM |
Would lick him from head to toe.
by Anonymous | reply 47 | March 17, 2020 10:21 PM |
[quote] Canadian tuxedo.
Also known as "a" tuxedo.
by Anonymous | reply 48 | March 17, 2020 11:24 PM |
Is the creepy CEO who has too much plastic surgery and an obsession with frat boys still running the show? Or is this change happening because he was forced out?
Because yeah, retail is suffering everywhere, mall chain stores are suffering more, and I assume the actual hot young things of 2020 think of Abercrombie as their embarrassing Uncle Bottom's favorite store. They've got to attract new customers or die, and chunky guys have money to spend.
by Anonymous | reply 49 | March 17, 2020 11:40 PM |
Why can't it just be normal sizing? Something for everyone? Why does it have to go to the other extreme? Back in the day, I believe they dressed presidents - notably John Kennedy among others. There is an aging demographic in the US that doesn't want Brooks Brothers but also doesn't want to look stupid in kids clothes.
by Anonymous | reply 50 | March 17, 2020 11:50 PM |
Aren't there like five threads on this guy? He's hunky but he's not that handsome.
by Anonymous | reply 51 | March 18, 2020 12:02 AM |
In the States A&F is a busted brand, IMO. Unless they do something about their quality &/or price point they are going down like the Bismarck.
by Anonymous | reply 52 | March 18, 2020 3:03 AM |
He's cute, but it doesn't matter because they clearly did this to get some much needed press. Nobody's shopped at Abercrombie & Fitch since 2009. They'll be closing their doors soon, similarly to Forever 21. Doomed stores from a bygone era. The mid-2000's are over.
by Anonymous | reply 53 | March 18, 2020 3:22 PM |
i want him to sit his big hairy ass on my face
by Anonymous | reply 55 | March 24, 2020 8:14 PM |
Bye Fat Girl Bye!
by Anonymous | reply 56 | March 24, 2020 8:22 PM |
Well that was fast.
by Anonymous | reply 58 | March 24, 2020 8:22 PM |
Someone in Marketing did not do their due diligence.
by Anonymous | reply 59 | March 24, 2020 8:23 PM |
Fat lives matter!!

But...do they?
by Anonymous | reply 62 | March 24, 2020 8:52 PM |
Ohh, she's a gainer too.
by Anonymous | reply 63 | March 24, 2020 8:57 PM |
He's not that hot. Guys that look like him are a dime a dozen at my local watering hole. I've seen better looking guys on the jobsite.
by Anonymous | reply 64 | March 24, 2020 9:11 PM |
Not fair to compare koalas to American bears.
by Anonymous | reply 65 | March 24, 2020 9:15 PM |
The bigger they are, the harder they fall.
by Anonymous | reply 66 | March 24, 2020 10:09 PM |
He can always bounce back on my cock.
by Anonymous | reply 68 | March 25, 2020 1:12 PM |
There has to be better looking plus-size models than him, anyway. And yeah, A&F is going to be toast, You can't alienate an entire market for years, and then suddenly expect them to start buying your clothes because of your *gracious* gesture to plus-size them.
by Anonymous | reply 69 | March 25, 2020 1:24 PM |
[quote]There has to be better looking plus-size models than him, anyway.
Why don't you try out?
by Anonymous | reply 70 | March 25, 2020 1:39 PM |
[QUOTE] Update...😕. Hopefully he can bounce back.
😂 Grand opening, grand closing.
by Anonymous | reply 71 | March 25, 2020 1:45 PM |
It's hilarious that R70 is ONLY here to comment on this thread... wonder why?
by Anonymous | reply 72 | March 25, 2020 1:49 PM |
[QUOTE] There has to be better looking plus-size models than him, anyway.
Ironically they can be found in the same place where agencies used to find skinny ripped guys: the gym. There’s plenty of bearish gym goers who have a solid, muscular frame covered in a layer of fat. So they can easily find these guys if they want to.
by Anonymous | reply 73 | March 25, 2020 1:51 PM |
r72, umm, I've been here since 1999, hon. Here's my current watchlist of threads I've been commenting on. Feel free to block me if I offended you, though 💁🏼♀️
by Anonymous | reply 74 | March 25, 2020 1:52 PM |
Are there clothes like a size 32 is really a 28?
by Anonymous | reply 75 | March 25, 2020 2:19 PM |
Chrissy Metz would be a great model for their women's division.
by Anonymous | reply 76 | March 25, 2020 2:25 PM |
Aww, R74 quickly stars a bunch of threads and calls it a watchlist! How adorable!
by Anonymous | reply 77 | March 25, 2020 2:34 PM |
[quote]Whereas, if you are more exclusionary and use hot people, hot people see themselves and not hot people purchase to see themselves...as they aspire to be.
BINGO!
by Anonymous | reply 78 | March 25, 2020 2:41 PM |
Sigh. I remember when I wore a size 28 waist. 26 if I starved myself for a few days. Thank god Im over that shit !
by Anonymous | reply 79 | March 25, 2020 4:23 PM |
I haven't been a size 28 waist since 4th grade - from the husky department....
by Anonymous | reply 80 | March 25, 2020 6:43 PM |
After watching his apology video, he doesn’t seem like the crispiest taco on the plate.
