It was a guilty pleasure of mine. But, I hated how most of the characters forgave that piece of shit Dan for killing his brother.

I haven’t gotten to that, yet. Karen’s boytoy just went back to New Zealand his mother fell and Moira Kelly looked at him like he was telling her some convoluted story about bank robbing midgets.

Laura Palmer (not dead, not wrapped in plastic) just hit on Peyton. Everyone seems to know she’s gay but her.

And not an actor in the bunch.

I just don’t understand why there are so many episodes! Like, obviously, they didn’t have *that* much story to tell. Right now is a whole scene of Brooke modeling her cheerleading uniform, lol.

I stopped after season 4. I caught a later episode and it involved Nathan and the mafia?! 🤣 The gif where a dog eats Dan's heart is great too.

I remember jerking off to this episode in 8th grade. I started watching the show for CMM, but fell for Jame Lafferty. He looked just like a hot basketball douche I knew in middle school. i think I got up to season 4 as well before I had to move on.

The OC is still the best teen show of the 2000s.

Pepperoni Nipples finally told his mom he has a heart condition.

Why do none of these teenagers have parents who live in town? I mean, most teenagers spend as little time with their parents as possible and figure out tricky ways of defying them without getting caught, but: Haley’s parents took off in an RV, Peyton’s dad spends most of his time on a boat, Brooke’s parents moved to California without her, I don’t know why Rachel’s parents don’t live with her but they don’t, we never even see Jake’s parents who are helping to take care of his baby. The only parents are Moira Kelly, Dan and Deb. This was a strange choice given that the friction between teens and their parents could have provided at least another hundred hours of show.

I loved that Peyton Sawyer's thing was that she had records.

And another girl had a camera.

And another girl had, like, a dress shop.

And that made them super-arty.

I watched like the first four seasons a long time ago and don't remember much but wasn't it supposed to be set in North Carolina? Nobody had a Southern accent

Young Southerners still have accents if they live in deep rural areas. I think the bigger reason that people from Atlanta, Dallas, Richmond, Houston, etc wouldn't have strong accents is because a lot of people who live there aren't from there.

Hilarie Burton attempted what seemed to be a southern accent at the beginning of the show but dropped it.

The first couple of seasons were fun but it became so sanctimonious after the school shooting episode. The OC is probably the only 2000s teen show I’d watch again.

R139 I always preferred The OC. It was a fun show and the writing seemed self-aware and tongue-in-cheek. It did drop the ball at different points but it still ended at the right time and didn't overstay it's welcome. I loved Seth Cohen being a geek and I loved Sandy Cohen and wish he was my dad. The characters felt more alive and acted like people I knew.

One Tree Hill just seemed so over-the-top dramatic, depressing and bleak. The dialogue felt more pretentious than Dawson's Creek. I'm from a small town and it is nothing like that.

The only other 2000s teen soaps I can stomach is Smallville which had a solid run and superhero lore, Degrassi and 7th Heaven which are so bad it's good that it had to be intentional.

I prefer The OC too. But Seth is just insufferable, along with Marissa. Although I wouldn't mind having the Cohens as parents either.

Not OP but I started rewatching the show on Hulu, first time in 15 years. I was the same age as the characters so the music takes me back. I just got to the post-high school time jump and 5 episodes in...I think I might be done.
