The FTMS do pass better and that's because testosterone is one powerful hormone. Testosterone can cause women to look more like men, while virtually always preventing any 'men trying to look like women' from doing so. Unfortunately for FTMs, a sizable majority of those who begin taking testosterone are wrecked by the weight changes and fat distribution.

OK these transmen have been having periods since their early teens and are surely well accustomed to it.

Birth control pills don't totally stop periods, but IUDs and Depoprovera implants can make them pretty much non-existent. But then you have to recognize that you were female to use that kind of intervention. Then again, other than the IUD, they would be on more "female hormones".

It's surprising the amount of testosterone they're on doesn't suppress menses.

Surprisingly, it can be tough to get a hysterectomy, even if you have severe endometriosis, are perimenopausal, and do NOT want children. Most transmen do not opt for bottom surgery, since the results are overall not very successful.

No Ob/Gyn is going to rip out a transman's uterus because they don't want the bother of menstruation.

As long as FTMs are taking testosterone consistently, they shouldn't be getting periods, but there are also a lot of trans people who go on hormones for a little while to get the feminizing/masculinizing effects and go off them. MTFs do it because it's very difficult to get erections on estrogen, and both MTFs and FTMs do it because cross-sex hormones wreck their fertility. If Raines went off testosterone to get pregnant, she can kindly shut up about how oppressive her natural period is, ffs.

Sure they do. Ob-gyns typically deny tubal ligation and hysterectomies to women under 35, but, if said women identify as men, ob-gyns fall in line right away (unless they're working at Catholic hospital). To do anything else is to be "transphobic". But as I mentioned, a number of FTMs want to keep their uteruses and fertility intact so they can do the manliest of manly acts -- give birth to a baby.

I have to say that I am SO happy i am comfortable in my body (meaning I'm a guy and I like having a guy's body.) Can't imagine hating your body or feeling that your physical being doesn't match your mental being.

I think part of the reason FtMs look more convincing is that before puberty, a boy's face is closer to an adult woman's than an adult man's. Therefore, FtMs can pass as baby-faced men.

R34 - well, more to the point, MtFs already have gone through masculinization of their features due to puberty. That's why they want the blockers. You can't undo some of that process - estrogen isn't going to overcome what's been done.

FtMs go through masculinization as soon as they start testosterone so it's like young boys going through puberty. Some go overboard and start taking steroids to bulkup which only increases their male look - but wreaks havoc on their body.

At the end of the day though, most FtMs will always be 'smaller' men with munchkin voices. At least they seem to be respectful and non-violent. Can't say the same for MtFs.

We're asking reasonable questions about people who feel the need to do all sorts of unhealthy and damaging things to their body in order to make it appear to be like that of the opposite sex, r54. If we as gay people are supposedly in the same community as the trans and represent each other in some way, then why should we be barred from asking questions? This isn't related to the trans man article, but a SURE consequence of Coronavirus is that trans' surgeries are likely to be majorly disrupted since they are elective. Also, I don't know the specific supply chain that the trans hormone supply relies upon, but it's likely that it too will be disrupted. I expect much consternation from those affected.
