R64 Actually the violence is getting worse so maybe not. I just don’t get what the point of it is. In past seasons there was some sympathetic motivation for the killer. Jamie Burns just seems evil.

I don't find the violence here anything beyond regular next work TV? Gore maybe, but not violence.

There are quite a few people that hate this season, especially on the show's reddit.

By all accounts, none of it is the actors faults. Everyone seems to think they're all doing a good job, including me.

However, it's a departure from the previous seasons of a "why" they done it series where the reason why the character did it is simply that: he's pretty and white (race does come up) and angry at society. He's also not gay but everyone seems to think he is. He just wants, "a friend." The show even tells you there was no great trauma in his life. He just thinks he's better than everyone else.

There's no actual motivation other than he's psycho and he snapped & that's not that interesting to watch while all the other characters act stupid so he can continue to go around and kill people because he feels like it.

It's sad because this is probably Matt Bomer's best performance to date, essentially, playing a tortured version of himself but still best so far. On a better written series he could have gotten and Emmy or a Golden Globe for this.

But that creepy scene where he shows his ass was the most interesting part of the season.

I remember when season 2 ended with a wet fart, I felt like kicking myself for wasting 8 hours with a show that revolved around a cult that prayed to a big rock. This season has me feeling deja vu.

SPOILERS AHEAD: This seasons plot: Matt Bomer feels dead inside and finds that standing on ledges, burying himself alive and killing people makes him feel something. Lonely single Detective Bill Pullman finds out about Matt's secret life and instead of arresting him, follows him around trying to get into his head. This could have been interesting but not in the hands of the writers they hired this season. Oh no.

What's happening with Bill Pullman? Watching and hearing him is disturbing - he acts like he's stoned or like he had a mild stroke, with the slurring, slow voice and delayed reactions. If he's doing all of that "acting" for this sorry show, he should save his energy. If he's not acting, boy oughta get that checked out.

The Sinner is gory and violent? There is some violence but it's tame compared to AHS and others.

R71 I think it's Pullman's natural acting style which was cute when young but seems annoying today. However, in Malice he was sexy as fuck.

The Sinner was strong on shock, low on insight. It was hard to identify with any of the characters and the plot was not believable. The acting was good, but the writing was weak.
