It's the panhandle of Florida that connects to Alabama.
I've been there before. Very nice.

How gay friendly do you think a place called the Redneck Riviera would be, OP?
by Anonymous | reply 2 | March 11, 2020 11:26 PM |
OP knows damn well that somewhere called the "Redneck Riviera" is not some gay-friendly paradise.
That part of Florida is part of the deep south, no different culturally from Alabama.

The South without any Southern charm, or history, or culinary or literary or musical or architectural heritage. And the asshole end of an asshole state.
Not much to recommend.

Before Trump it was not too bad. We have beautiful beaches and mostly friendly locals. They run hot and cold on tourism. They bitch like crazy for a few yrs and the tourism dries up and everyone's poor. Then they start looking for tourists again.
Since Trump I seriously would worry about gay men down here. Homophobia has always been here but most people just went with live and let live. Not so much now.

R4 is correct. But that area is "nice" to anyone who is white, affluent and over the age of 55, so depending on your demographics, OP.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | March 11, 2020 11:38 PM |
Oh please . Have any of you bitches actually been there ? Its vastly different from even a decade ago . It looks nothing like the trashy cheap motel ridden shithole it was . Lots of money there now,you can barely see the ocean for all the luxury condos . All I know is back in the day it was prime cock hunting spot for drunk redneck boys and horny air force boys from the base . I havent been there in years, but I remember spring break was outrageously fun.

Whenever someone on an HGTV show is looking for a vacation property in Panama City, FL, I automatically assume they are MAGAts.

I grew up there, and not very.

The Florida panhandle is deep red. It is definite Trump country.

They elected Matt Gaetz as their congressman.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | March 12, 2020 12:23 AM |
The Florida Panhandle is one of the few metropolitan areas in Florida that is still deep red. The large population of tacky nouveau riche white boomers there is one of the main reasons Florida hasn't flipped blue yet. You know, that, and the rampant voter suppression.

I beg to differ. I've driven through Alabama to Florida more than once, and it's like time traveling back from the Great Depression when you reach the last few miles before the Florida border. Before that, everything is farmland and small towns full of dilapidated houses, dilapidated churches, and dilapidated liquor stores; the only modern buildings you pass by are Chik-fil-As. The Florida Panhandle may be deep red and full of trashy residents, but they at least live in the 21st century.

OP here, wondering if any eldergays ever participated in the "Emma Jones" beach gatherings in Pensacola. Here's a few excerpts I've pasted from the attached article.
[Quote]Emma Jones was one of the greatest LGBT allies in the 1960s in northern Florida. Too bad she didn’t actually exist.
[Quote]When a reporter once went looking for the mysterious woman he was told, “Honey, the Emma Jones Society is you and me and every other faggot in this town, and nobody here gives a damn who Miss Emma Jones herself is.”
[Quote]Emma Jones turned out to simply be a cover for a regular gay gathering on the beach in Pensacola Florida, starting on the Fourth of July in 1964. The Advocate once described the celebrations as one of the “largest gay organized events in the country.”
[Quote]Over the years these gatherings continued to grow and attract more attendees. While the actual numbers are difficult to determine, it is thought that the events drew the same amount of people, or perhaps even more, than the much more famous Christopher Street Liberation Day celebrations in June that started in 1970 following the Stonewall Riots in 1969.
[Quote]By 1970, over 1,000 people were attending. With those kinds of numbers they could no longer be as inconspicuous and decided to move the crowd indoors. The event moved to Pensacola’s historic Hotel San Carlos, affectionately known as the Gray Lady of Palafox.
[Quote]For the next few years the gay men would start the day out at the beach and make their way back to the hotel’s ballroom where there would be music, dancing, drag shows, and contests. One such event was the Red, Hot, and Blue Revue where men would compete as female impersonators. Sometimes women would join in, leaving the audience to guess which entertainers were actually female.
[Quote]Once the Emma Jones Society faded away came a new era of LGBT visibility in the area with the opening of year-round gay bars.
[Quote]The event certainly fostered long lasting relationships and it was those bonds that would eventually go on to create a similar event in 1981 during Memorial Day weekend – The Pensacola Memorial Day Beach Pride.

I've been to a gay beach there a few times. Near Santa Rosa beach which is east of Pensacola. Lots of young and old queens. Beautiful water and white sand.

r7 how did upi get all that hot "stright" cock back in the day? I'm seriously curious how it was done. Beach, gay bar, hotel bar, grocery store? What did you do, how did you do it, and where did you do it?
by Anonymous | reply 21 | March 12, 2020 7:49 AM |
Oh R7, you had me at cracker cock and military cock.which are both wanking material on their surface.
Have these kids never seen any of the Active Duty stuff? I mean, young hot ripped tatt"d and horny and usually hung - better than any recruitment videos I've ever encountered!

I had sex in the water just off Pensacola Beach back in the day. Labor Day was the big weekend for gays there in the early 80s

Why I'm sure it's no less gay friendly than a ranch called 'N*****r Head' and owned by an esteemed member of the current administration, OP.
Have a great trip. Is there someone I should notify for you?
by Anonymous | reply 24 | March 12, 2020 12:05 PM |
Great place to visit, but you wouldn't want to live there
Besides the small town, small minded ignorance, it has a tendency to get wiped out from hurricanes every few years. There is no culture, no community, just upper middle class tourists and the locals who cater to them. Hard pass

Fell into that world, fell out for a long time, now occasionally dabbling. The appeal is that a)you have mastered major league control in being able to just take it to begin with. The orgasam is the game changer apparently - so great that your hole operates at a special new level that your buttgasam could not under normal circumstances produce.
One word; heartbeat
My own? When it finally happened (small hands) I'm screaming like a bad whining fetish porn bottom when it was going in; the moment it came out and I wanted something extraordinary cock-wise to replace it. and therein is what I think happens on a much larger scale to fist-bottom nation: the more you repeat the process as of us are we going to use it as the defacto reward.
