So I went to 3 drugstores, 2 supermarkets, Amazon, Target and EVERYONE is out of stock. What are people doing, drinking this stuff? How much disinfectant do you need?
Rubbing Alcohol Shortage - Thanks Coronavirus

Because hand sanitizer sold out first and you can make your own with alcohol

I always keep around 4 bottles of it under my sink because I use it in a spray bottle to clean the kitchen. I always buy 70% but they only had 90% when I was at the store the other day.

If you were going to make hand sanitizer, wouldn't Hydrogen Peroxide be better? It doesn't burn like alcohol.

OR . . . you could save yourself a lot of money, time and effort, not buy into the hysteria and simply WASH YOUR HANDS OFTEN.

That's not always an option like on public transpiration, grocery stores, ATMs, etc. But yeah, I never use the stiff. But thing I wash my hands anyway like 10 times a day or more depending on what I am doing and never tough my face outside of my house.

Honey—you gonna DIE in this pandemic.

Not a chance R7, I was commenting on people who are doing that. I have no interest in making or using hand sanitizer. I think they proved years ago it was ineffective. Mostly placebo effect.

This is just another virus in which common sense is what is most needed. Wash your hands often, stay out of enclosed, crowded spaces whenever possible, get plenty of fresh air, stay well away from young children (biggest germ carriers), and, as R6 so rightly mentioned, refrain from touching your eyes, nose, lips, mouth or tongue (unless you've just washed your hands).

I checked yesterday and hydrogen peroxide kills the virus. They're still available at my local Target so I'll pick up a bottle or three. I think it may not be as popular as it's not the ingredient used in hand sanitizer. In a pinch though, I am going to carry it in a travel spray bottle for use on the go.

What people are looking or is peace of mind. Be smart and do what you need to in order to calm your brain down.

What an interesting tactic to spread patently false, moderately hysterical information.
It's stunning that people are so lazy that they'd actually believe the sky is falling without actually even checking.
It literally took 5 seconds to find dozens of options for rubbing alcohol for sale on Amazon.

I always have a few bottles around, I use it to clean laptop screens etc, that's what they clean it with at the factories before shipping to stores.
Where are you OP? I saw some rubbing alcohol at a walgreens in NYC @23rd street, that store is huge...that was on Sunday though...might be gone already.

My friend carries a napkin soaked in diluted bleach with water, puts it in a ziplock bag and use it when she needs to when she's outside and not able to wash her hands.

by Anonymous | reply 16 | March 11, 2020 2:35 PM |
Is this why there are so few reports cases in Russia, because they're all alcoholics?

Thanks! I just bought all of the toilet paper that was left, everywhere. Hope you don't need any! Hoarding necessities calmed my brain.

There's talk of rationing these items.
