Movies that would never be greenlit today

Just too controversial.

Throw Momma From The Train; Dressed To Kill; Cruising; Making Love; Teaching Mrs. Tingle; Taxi Driver; Soylent Green...

I Spit on Your Grave

After the Me Too movement, I don't think a movie with a bunch of men raping a woman for about a quarter of the running time would go over very well.

Triumph des Willens

Pretty Baby

The Little Girl Who Lives Down the Lane

by Anonymousreply 16March 9, 2020 10:02 AM

I think "Up The Down Staircase" couldn't be made today, because it would criticized for portraying the lives of inner-city youths in stereotypical ways.

The Exorcist.

"Pretty Baby" owns this thread!

It would be considered immoral to have a 12-year-old act out the life of a prostitute now, and it actually was immoral then. But the film was made back then, because back then, the movie studios didn't care what some boring old feminists and child advocates said about things.

Most 007 movies. Or at least they would have to kill the misogyny.

by Anonymousreply 20March 9, 2020 5:17 PM

I suspect that today studios would shy away from reviving the Baby Burlesks series.
