So does Bernie drop out if he loses Michigan badly on Tuesday, or does he hang on and wait till Florida on the 17th?

Given that he beat Her in Michigan, losing to Biden will not look good.

So will a major loss --10 points or more-- be the trigger that gets him to drop out?

There will be a lot of pressure for him to do so.

by Anonymousreply 57March 11, 2020 1:48 AM

Well he's going to win the nom, so it's a mute point OP

by Anonymousreply 1March 7, 2020 2:44 PM

There will also likely be pressure on him to drop out if he loses badly because Corona virus and all the old people in Florida who may be exposed if they go to vote

by Anonymousreply 2March 7, 2020 2:47 PM

Hmmm r2...Corona virus as voter suppression. Are we sure it wasn’t released by Republicans?

by Anonymousreply 3March 7, 2020 2:50 PM

R1 It's moot, not mute.

And why do you think he's going to win the nomination? Show your work.

by Anonymousreply 4March 7, 2020 2:57 PM

Why would Bernie respond to pressure from Democrats and the establishment? He isn't one and he's movementing against the other. The Democratic nomination process is his host. He's the Cobernievirus.

by Anonymousreply 5March 7, 2020 2:57 PM

So he's going to destroy the Democratic party and their processes, huh R5? Reason enough NOT to vote for him.

by Anonymousreply 6March 7, 2020 3:05 PM

Bernie could win the nomination if he's the last man standing. Joe has never done a debate for 2 hours this year where he's one of two on stage. If he cracks up in any big way in that platform, there will be more panic. I personally want to vote for Joe, but I recognize this may become an issue with voters in swing states now that people are being directed to look for Biden performance problems. I'd love to just cancel the rest of the Democratic Primary Debates, but you can't cancel the debates with Donald Trump.

by Anonymousreply 7March 7, 2020 3:06 PM

He’s going to get crushed in FL. Black and Cuban aren’t Bernie’s demographics.

by Anonymousreply 8March 7, 2020 3:06 PM

If anything, Biden will do better in a smaller debate where it doesn't feel like a contest as to who can speak the loudest the fastest and demand the moderators acknowledge them (points to E. Warren for crushing all those factors.)

Think of the speech Biden gave thanking Pete and comparing him to Beau

And Bernie shouting and waving his arms in an unpleasant manner at That Nice Joe Biden is not going to play well outside of his base

by Anonymousreply 9March 7, 2020 3:09 PM

I agree, R9... I was thinking about that the other day. It's far less pandemonium, far less pressure to jump in, and he knows Bernie. He may disagree with him but I don't think he dislikes him personally and I'm certain he's not nervous to debate him. I'd expect a more relaxed Biden at the next debate, if we get there. We probably will. I just can't see the Cobernievirus dropping out unless its to run independently.

by Anonymousreply 10March 7, 2020 3:29 PM

I can’t wait for Biden to get Bernie one on one. I can’t stand the way Bernie screams and yells and helicopters his arms like a kid having a tantrum because she didn’t get ice cream for breakfast.

by Anonymousreply 11March 7, 2020 3:59 PM

He needs to drop out today, or after Michigan. He will not be winning in Florida.

by Anonymousreply 12March 7, 2020 4:08 PM

I don’t think he drops out at all. Did he stop his campaign in 2016, or go all the way to the convention?

by Anonymousreply 13March 7, 2020 4:11 PM

He's too much of a narcissist and egomaniac to drop out.

by Anonymousreply 14March 7, 2020 4:12 PM

He held on after he was mathematically eliminated in 2016, and waited until less than two weeks before the convention to endorse HRC. I expect to see him do the same again. I also expect his opinion on the Super Delegates to flop back to his 2016 position, now that he is no longer the delegate leader. His position on that before Super Tuesday, when he was the delegate leader, was the opposite of 2016, when he wasn't.

by Anonymousreply 15March 7, 2020 4:13 PM
Well he's going to win the nom, so it's a mute point OP

Oh, [italic]dear.[/italic]

I hope he campaigns better than you spell!

by Anonymousreply 16March 7, 2020 4:31 PM

I LOVE the phrase "mute point," especially in contrast to "moot point."
Moot Point: An idea that has been rendered irrelevant for the present issue.
Mute Point: An idea so dumb it should never be spoken aloud.

by Anonymousreply 17March 7, 2020 4:37 PM
but you can't cancel the debates with Donald Trump.

You really think peachy wants to debate?

By the way it wasn’t that long ago that joe debated one on one — watch the debate vs Ryan.

This “Joe is infirm” meme is pure Bern troll fodder, like Bernie’s inevitability because he won eight more delegates in Iowa than Biden. How did that work out for you, Bern trolls?

by Anonymousreply 18March 7, 2020 4:50 PM

Biden is in severe mental decline. Why doesn’t he campaign in public? Why does Rachel Maddow have to publicly beg for an interview on her show? He’s going to be our nominee and his own campaign doesn’t trust his abilities to do actual campaigning. It’s very disturbing.

by Anonymousreply 19March 7, 2020 4:55 PM

Bernie loses both badly, but doesn't drop out before the convention. This is the end of Comrade Sanders and his Brown Shirts and he’ll drag it out. He will hopefully die very soon after and the bros will go back down to the basement where we can forget them, again. Bernie Sanders will never be president.

by Anonymousreply 20March 7, 2020 4:57 PM
You really think peachy wants to debate?

I don't think Trump wants to debate, but I do think he wants to do his standup comedy routine at the debates, with an audience half-packed with Trump supporters.

by Anonymousreply 21March 7, 2020 5:02 PM
Why doesn’t he campaign in public?

Pretty good holograms then on the town halls he did on CNN.
Why does Rachel Maddow have to publicly beg for an interview on her show?

I don't know. Maybe because she's an obvious hack for Elizabeth Warren with no objectivity where anybody else in concerned?

by Anonymousreply 22March 7, 2020 10:33 PM

convinced the severe mental decline stuff only comes from trolls. not sure there's anyone who thinks this who has observed or interacted with Biden. If you're a Bernie troll, time to give it up. Bernie may stick with it till the convention but there's nothing he can do now to win--would take an act of God for him to be the nominee. Dems don't want him. Makes me sad but its true.

by Anonymousreply 23March 7, 2020 10:42 PM

Her? What?

by Anonymousreply 24March 7, 2020 10:50 PM

It is trolls. They offer nothing to substantiate it, just plant the seed and scurry away.

He's in good health. He released detailed medical information last December.

Dementia smears are all they've got. And when does Burn give as much information as Biden did? I'd be careful about playing that card. Could bite you back.

by Anonymousreply 25March 7, 2020 10:51 PM

Even with a mental decline Biden's issue appears to only be with speaking. Listen to him talk about foreign leaders. When he gets going he can rattle off the names of leaders and the shit they did together years and years ago. Biden knows his stuff, it's all in there, but due to his stutter and age, it might come out a little odd. This in no way makes him incapable of being the chief executive of the US.

I'd rather defend a stutter than a Democratic-Socialist agenda with no plan for implementation in 2020. Also, older voters, female voters, and black voters like Joe over Bernie. That's our Party in a nutshell so I'm with Joe.

by Anonymousreply 26March 7, 2020 10:57 PM

Politico examines the dementia issue pertaining to both Trump and Biden and concludes
...A kind of ghoulish gallows humor about the issue is widespread in political circles in both parties, in part because people simply don’t see much alternative. My colleague Marc Caputo said on Twitter that a Democratic operative with presidential campaign experience described the likely 2020 race like this: “the nice old guy with Alzheimer’s against the mean old man with dementia.”

It's actually not even funny. It's not a funny disease. It accomplishes nothing for media to report on anything other than it's not true.

by Anonymousreply 28March 7, 2020 11:17 PM

Anyone who thinks Joe isn’t acting dotty is delusional.

by Anonymousreply 29March 8, 2020 12:44 AM

Joe is talking to walls and bursting blood vessels on tv.

by Anonymousreply 30March 8, 2020 12:45 AM

How long can Bernie's movement last? Is he that full of crap?

by Anonymousreply 31March 8, 2020 1:09 AM

The Atlantic just did a story saying Bernie considered running against Obama in the 2012 primary. How evil is that?

Remember: it's all about Bernie- not about you.

Once you have one heart attack, the risk for having another heart attack rises; this risk is especially high for 3 to 5 years after the first heart attack.

And I'm going to keep posting it everytime someone says Joe has dementia. Let's see Bernie's complete health records that he refuses to show.

by Anonymousreply 33March 8, 2020 2:34 AM

Bernie is a NARCISSIST! Just like everyone who votes for him. ALL of them. Truth hurts, cunts!

by Anonymousreply 34March 8, 2020 2:40 AM

I don't think it's guaranteed Bernie will stay in until the convention. The virus also changes calculations, but it's not clear how just yet.

by Anonymousreply 35March 8, 2020 5:12 PM

Projections hhave Biden winning Michigan. A loss in MI for Sanders would be a big blow. Let us see what happens.

by Anonymousreply 36March 8, 2020 6:16 PM
R1 It's moot, not mute.

Actually, R4, you’re both wrong.

by Anonymousreply 37March 8, 2020 6:48 PM

I think Bernie may be like Trump...never to drop out.

by Anonymousreply 38March 8, 2020 6:57 PM

Bernie Sanders should stay in it. Stay and be at the Democratic Convention. We need Medicare for ALL, single payer. Those CEOs, personal assistants and receptionists are not MEDICAL DOCTORS, they need to be kick out of health care sector for good. Also, we all know that tuition costs have increased radically over the years, and how about those fees and shit.

How about just being straight forward and factual and fix public health and education sector!?!?

by Anonymousreply 39March 8, 2020 7:17 PM

Oh, please, Burnie is going to stay in it as long as he can. Why would he bow out early when he can continue conning his cultists for cash so he can buy another home and charter private planes to stalk the Pope?

by Anonymousreply 40March 8, 2020 7:23 PM

"... this risk is especially high for 3 to 5 years after the first heart attack."

How do we know he hasn't? Now that it's supposedly a 2-man race, he's not about to disclose his palpitations.

by Anonymousreply 41March 9, 2020 3:25 AM

Bernie is making a last-ditch effort for salvage what he can out of Michigan, so if he loses to Biden, it's the end, period. The larger the margin the quicker he'll exit... but regardless, he's going to try to drag it out as long as he can so that he damages the Democrats' chances overall. Bernie's "movement" isn't about bringing Democrats together, it's about doing as much damage as possible to the Democrats because he, and his supporters, think that breaking our political system is the only way to get free stuff, from tuition to health care. They don't care about our country, they don't care about honesty and integrity, and they certainly don't care about Democrats.

Bottom line, if Bernie loses Michigan, we should pressure him to exit and endorse Biden, and by "we" I mean the Democratic establishment should simply say "Bernie, if you don't bow out gracefully and give a full-throated endorsement, we will primary you, we will spend as much as it takes, and we will destroy you and your 'movement' if it is the last thing the Democratic Party does."

by Anonymousreply 42March 9, 2020 3:45 AM

Hillary is gonna be like the monster in alien. She’s going to suck Biden’s face so much he’ll need another face lift. Come convention time he will choose her as a running mate. Two weeks into his presidency he will “step down” and Hillary will burst from his chest. And bam. She’s madam president.

by Anonymousreply 43March 9, 2020 4:01 AM

Michigan is hardcore blue collar middle America. And brain drain has left behind only those too dumb to move. Bernie is the antithesis of that.

If Bernie wins MI, then consider it a Russian attack on our country (not that our President cares or will do anything about it).

by Anonymousreply 44March 9, 2020 5:14 AM

Bernie is near death.

Why should he care about the DNC’s threats? They were stupid to let him participate for this very reason - he has nothing to lose.

by Anonymousreply 45March 9, 2020 5:33 AM

Stay in Bernie. We all need health care. He a better candidate than biden. I cannot believe this is happening.

by Anonymousreply 46March 9, 2020 5:41 AM

Bernie will stay in until at least Arizona. He does good with that demographic, and, he will hope that Biden has a horrible debate.

by Anonymousreply 47March 9, 2020 9:18 AM

I think it's the candidate who gets the black vote who wins the Democratic nomination. 2008: Obama. 2016: Hillary. 2020: Biden...maybe. Hispanic voters are growing in number though.

by Anonymousreply 48March 9, 2020 9:41 AM
I don't think Trump wants to debate, but I do think he wants to do his standup comedy routine at the debates, with an audience half-packed with Trump supporters.

Any president, no matter how unhinged, wants to avoid a debate, because he has a record that he now has to defend, and the challenger doesn't. If Trump has even two brain cells he realizes that his record in particular is ENDLESS ammo to shoot at him and make him look like shit for an hour and a half, standing there at the podium.

There's no way Trump wants that.

by Anonymousreply 49March 9, 2020 3:24 PM

Biden is now within striking distance in Washington State

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 50March 9, 2020 7:55 PM

I don't think Joe has it in the bag quite yet. The next debate is between just the two of them and Bernie is likely to seem a lot sharper than Joe. A really bad performance would play into the "Joe's not all there anymore" argument and swing the electorate again.

by Anonymousreply 51March 9, 2020 8:03 PM

And an even mildly competent performance by Joe will look like a victory because Bernie Bros and Trump have been so anxious to paint Joe as completely senile. Nothing like lowering expectations for your opponent.

by Anonymousreply 52March 9, 2020 8:16 PM
Stay in Bernie. We all need health care. He a better candidate than biden. I cannot believe this is happening.

A President Bernie will be effectively a lame duck on M4A. He won't be able to push it through Congress, and the Dems may not win back the Senate with him at the top of the ticket.

But Uncle Joe has a shot at winning the Presidency and Senate, and keep the House. And he'll be able to push through whatever reforms the Dems are prepared to go for.

by Anonymousreply 53March 10, 2020 12:39 AM

Its unfuckingreal how Bernie supporters think a half-dead, do-nothing but yell and refuse to work with other people for 30 years, will magically get M4A passed.

I'm not sure if that's stunning naivety or depressing levels of ignorance.

by Anonymousreply 54March 10, 2020 1:23 AM

The thing too is that even if the US Congress were to magically turn into 535 AOC clones overnight, it would take a year or two minimum to figure it all out--what's covered, who can perform what procedures, do you need authorization, how do the doctors get paid, who is working in the new bureaucracy, which software system is going to handle it....

by Anonymousreply 55March 10, 2020 1:25 AM

R55, my feeling is it would be just like Medicare processes except it would include everyone. The money is the biggest hurdle.

by Anonymousreply 56March 10, 2020 1:27 AM

He's back in Vermont....
