I read from an earlier article it was 3 parts alcohol to one part aloe vera, which is different from the article.

Still more combos.
Quick way to make hand sanitizer. 91% rubbing alcohol and Aloe Vera Gel. Mix them together. Its cheap, Alcohol cost about 1.00 a bottle, just mix it with aloe vera gel. Basically its the same stuff.
OR
60% ethanol or isopropanol 5% hydrogen peroxide 3% 5% glycerol 30% distilled water
Kills nearly everything on your skin and is cheap too.

Here's what I don't get.
Sanitizers are antibacterial, but this is a virus.
Can a virus be killed by antibacterial hand sanitizers?

I finally found a tube of aloe vera gel, the sales assistant asked if I wanted to buy tea tree oil as well. I said no. Should I have bought it?

Thrilled to know we already had the Popular Science article ingredients in our bathroom for making our own hand sanitizers. Maybe I'll add some Thieves Oil for retro appeal.

Tea tree oil may be a bit sticky, r10.
It's a good antiseptic but it's a bit expensive.

Unfortunately, it's hard to find alcohol now. Of course, I always had some on hand, but for those that don't what do they use? I suggest bleach.
