Forget Monica Lewinsky and Rielle Hunter. Heck, Forget Stormy Daniels! In the 1970s, a prominent persnickety senator, one Wilbur Mills, was pulled over drunk with a notorious stripper who then bolted from the car and dove into the Tidal Basin! He continued to see the lady, Fanne Foxe - and later gave a PRESS CONFERENCE from a strip club with her at his side. Oh MY!!!
He was a Congressman NOT a Senator.

I remember in my youth being confused by Fanne Foxe vs Fannie Flagg.

That was the first big sexual political scandal in this boomer's memory. Previously the media turned a blind eye to indiscretions. Mills chaired the Ways and Means Committee. The coverage didn't exactly open the floodgates, but it did open the tap.

Her tell-all book had 16 pages of photos. If book clubs picked stuff like this I might actually join one.
