Husband of Los Angeles DA threatens Black Lives Matters people with gun

Black Lives Matter protesters say the husband of the Los Angeles County district attorney pointed a gun at them and threatened to open fire before sunrise Monday as they demanded a meeting with her at her home.

Authorities have not confirmed the activists' account regarding the events at the home of District Attorney Jackie Lacey. In a video posted by Black Lives Matter organizer Melina Abdullah, a man pointing a black handgun opens the door and says: 'Get off. Get off of my porch.'

The encounter came a day before a primary for district attorney; Lacey is seeking a third term.

Lacey, the first black woman to lead the country's largest local prosecutor's office, has clashed repeatedly with Black Lives Matter protesters, who have picketed her office weekly for the past two years. They say she is too protective of law enforcement and doesn't prosecute officers who fatally shoot suspects.

Abdullah, professor of pan-African studies at Cal State LA, told KTTV the protesters rang Lacey's doorbell to meet with her.

'Her husband met us at the door with a gun,' Abdullah told KTTV. 'We heard him cock it, he pointed the gun as he opened the door and then when he saw me, he pointed the gun directly at my chest.'

In the video, a woman off-camera says: 'Good morning. Are you going to shoot me?'

The man, identified by Cannick as David Lacey, says: 'I will shoot you. Get off of my porch.'

The woman responds: 'Can you tell Jackie Lacey that we're here?'

The man says: 'I don't care who you are, get off of my porch right now. We're calling the police right now.'

During her time at the helm of the nation's largest local prosecutor's office, Lacey has been routinely heckled by Black Lives Matter protesters, who have challenged her record prosecuting cops and the well-connected like Ed Buck, a Democratic operative and donor who gave to her campaign and now faces federal charges for allegedly injecting methamphetamine into two men who fatally overdosed in his apartment.

Good for him. I would've shot every last one of them. That's what you get for bothering people in their homes.

by Anonymousreply 1March 2, 2020 8:12 PM

[quote] protesters say the husband of the Los Angeles County district attorney pointed a gun at them and threatened to open fire before sunrise Monday as they demanded a meeting with her at her home.

They turned up with a mob at someones house in the middle of the night and demand to see his wife. That's pretty fucking threatening.

by Anonymousreply 2March 2, 2020 8:16 PM

WOW! just WOW!!

by Anonymousreply 3March 2, 2020 8:16 PM

That poor man. Accosted by a lynch mob at his house, people demanding to see his wife, having to deal with harassment from these people in the past and being scared of himself and his family, and after all of that he's made to look like the bad guy.

Despicable. I yearn for the day some crazy white guy decides to open fire on a BLM rally.

by Anonymousreply 4March 2, 2020 8:19 PM

Intersectionality is a cancer.

Holy fuckin wow!

by Anonymousreply 6March 2, 2020 8:21 PM

I know @R6

by Anonymousreply 7March 2, 2020 8:29 PM

I don’t have any problem with that. Trespassing. Threatening.

by Anonymousreply 8March 2, 2020 8:39 PM

I was with you right up until your last sentence, R4. That escalated quickly.

by Anonymousreply 9March 2, 2020 8:41 PM

R6/R7/R9 You're right, that was fucked up of me to say and I don't genuinely wish that on anyone. I apologize.

I'm just angry that we've arrived at a point where a man and his wife can be accosted and threatened by a group that at this point borders on a domestic terrorist organization and then be framed as the bad guys for simply trying to defend themselves against a lynch mob.

It's disgraceful that this is allowed and that we excuse the disgusting behavior of BLM.

by Anonymousreply 10March 2, 2020 8:46 PM

there's a competitive election tomorrow. you'd think the husband would have used some better judgement and called the police while not answering the door

by Anonymousreply 11March 2, 2020 8:48 PM

R11 That would've just fueled the fire. There is nothing they could've done to protect themselves that wouldn't have resulted in them being framed as the bad guys.

This is the awful thing BLM is able to take advantage of. They're basically allowed to act as abhorrently as they please because any retaliation is labeled as racism at best and violent brutality at worst.

There's no way you can win against a lynch mob.

by Anonymousreply 12March 2, 2020 8:50 PM

Understood @R10

by Anonymousreply 13March 2, 2020 8:51 PM

BLM are nothing but an agitation group.

by Anonymousreply 14March 2, 2020 8:52 PM

R14 That's putting it lightly.

by Anonymousreply 15March 2, 2020 8:54 PM

Dave Chappelle was right - these people cause more problems than they solve

by Anonymousreply 16March 2, 2020 8:55 PM

They are. @R14

by Anonymousreply 17March 2, 2020 8:56 PM

Understood, R10

by Anonymousreply 18March 2, 2020 9:59 PM

R10, I, too, removed you from my doo-doo list.

by Anonymousreply 19March 2, 2020 10:06 PM

I don't blame him for being mad at all. But pointing a loaded gun at someone who for all intents and purposes posed not direct threat of bodily harm to him was too much. He would have been better to have filled a big bucket with water and splashed them until they got off his property.

by Anonymousreply 20March 2, 2020 10:07 PM

The DA was on the news, visibly shaken. She noted that she's been the victim of threats, has been followed home and it's escalated. She nonetheless reiterated her pledge to keep working for the people who elected her. They apologized but IMO, they have nothing to apologize for. The opposing group claims she refuses to meet with them, which has made them try to confront her.

by Anonymousreply 21March 2, 2020 10:14 PM

Other related BLM news

Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) canceled a campaign rally in St. Louis Park, Minn., on Sunday after protesters reportedly affiliated with Black Lives Matter and other civil rights groups took the stage at her event for over an hour.

In a statement obtained by The New York Times, Klobuchar's campaign said the senator offered to meet with demonstrators in exchange for them exiting the stage and allowing her rally to proceed, adding that the protesters initially agreed to such terms before reportedly backing out and refusing to leave the stage.

“The campaign offered a meeting with the senator if they would leave the stage after being on the stage for more than an hour,” a spokesperson for the Klobuchar campaign told the Times. “After initially agreeing, the group backed out, and we are now canceling the event.”

by Anonymousreply 22March 2, 2020 10:32 PM

A group of pissed-off kids on your porch early in the morning before sunrise? Yeah I'd get my gun.

by Anonymousreply 23March 2, 2020 10:36 PM

BLM is going to help us lose the election. Thanks, Soros, for your generous funding.

by Anonymousreply 24March 2, 2020 10:37 PM

I wish I had a bf who'd do that for me.

by Anonymousreply 25March 2, 2020 10:39 PM

I voted to reelect Lacey.

by Anonymousreply 26March 2, 2020 10:40 PM

Appearing on her front door was absolutely meant as a threat, announcing "We know where you live". It may not meet the legal definition of a direct threat, but you bet your ass they would have made direct threats if she'd engaged them. Definitely time to open the gun case.

And why the fuck should she meet with them? If they arent taken seriously, it's because they haven't earned that level of respect.

by Anonymousreply 27March 2, 2020 10:48 PM

Me too @R25

by Anonymousreply 28March 2, 2020 11:54 PM

BLM should really be focused on the real tragedy of the black community....black on black homicide. They also may want to address why black males commit so many murders. In NYC, for example, blacks make up 25% of the population (for a black male population of 10% perhaps) yet committed 62% of the murders and non-negligent homicides in 2019.

by Anonymousreply 29March 3, 2020 12:22 AM

Yikes. Guess her career is over.

by Anonymousreply 30March 3, 2020 12:25 AM

Black Lives Matter is probably funded by racists. They really only confront democrats and people who are on their side.

by Anonymousreply 31March 3, 2020 12:43 AM

A mob shows up at your house in the middle of the night, of course you reach for a gun if you have it.

by Anonymousreply 32March 3, 2020 12:48 AM

If this happened in the South they all would've been shot.

by Anonymousreply 33March 3, 2020 12:48 AM

These pieces of shit are very lucky they weren't shot. Being the D.A of Los Angeles means she's had plenty of death threats. And these fools show up at her house and on her porch, no less, asking to get killed

If a republican is voted in, it will all be with the help provided by the black lives matter crew

by Anonymousreply 34March 3, 2020 12:58 AM

I'm voting for her. This was a despicable stunt right near the election. Granted, I didn't know much about her until this happened but it made me look.

by Anonymousreply 35March 3, 2020 1:03 AM

Those idiots knocked on their door at 5:40am. They will gain little sympathy from anyone. Even black community activists are said to be fed up with these type of tactics.

by Anonymousreply 36March 3, 2020 1:17 AM

Holy crap! Melina Abdullah was my professor when I went to Cal State Los Angeles. I took a black film class.

Yes she was very vocal and even an idiot could tell that she was pushing an agenda with her curriculum, but damn. She was lucky!

by Anonymousreply 37March 3, 2020 1:20 AM

Somewhere George Zimmerman is saying "Lost opportunity."

by Anonymousreply 38March 3, 2020 1:28 AM

From the Guardian:

[quote] "She’s an elected official. She owes it to her constituency to hear us,” said Abdullah, who has closely tracked killings by police and advocated for victims’ loved ones and is also a professor of Pan-African studies at California State University, Los Angeles.

She owes it to her constituency to hear them at 5:45 in the morning?? At her own house??

by Anonymousreply 39March 3, 2020 1:39 AM

[quote] I don't blame him for being mad at all. But pointing a loaded gun at someone who for all intents and purposes posed not direct threat of bodily harm to him was too much.

How was he to know the latter when a mob shows up at his front door before dawn?

What's he supposed to think?

by Anonymousreply 40March 3, 2020 1:41 AM

R39 Exactly. Just because she's an elected official doesn't mean you've got the right to form a Frankenstein-esque angry mob on her doorstep.

This kind of growing mentality in the public ("they're an elected official and civil servant and therefore i'm allowed to do whatever i want to them as a tax paying citizen!!!!") is why I think that all of those in political positions (no matter how small) or all of those who are elected by the public should invest in at least security systems, if not gated homes.

You never know what psycho might waltz up on your doorstep and murder you and your family just because they disagree with you.

[quote]You never know what psycho might waltz up on your doorstep and murder you and your family just because they disagree with you.

That's happened to some judges over the years. It's a very real threat.

by Anonymousreply 43March 3, 2020 1:58 AM

I am not at all surprised when college students to play this kind of game, but for an adult and tenured professor to do it--and to another African-American family--is pretty shocking. She should be more mature.

by Anonymousreply 44March 3, 2020 2:10 AM

Fuck off, R20. Was he supposed to have given them a questionnaire to fill out and slip under the door so he could properly divine their kind intentions?

by Anonymousreply 45March 3, 2020 2:11 AM

Try this in Texas.

by Anonymousreply 46March 3, 2020 2:11 AM

The BLM-ers are fools. They start out with legitimate grievances, and invariably end up doing more harm than good.

by Anonymousreply 47March 3, 2020 2:15 AM

All radical groups start the same way.

by Anonymousreply 48March 3, 2020 2:26 AM

What these people did PRE-DAWN was totally inappropriate and obnoxious. But to point a gun directly at them with finger on the trigger? Also wrong. This incident also made me look her up. She has a terrible record, actually.

by Anonymousreply 49March 3, 2020 2:28 AM

This thread proves that the DL has descended into a white supremacist thread, no better than 4chan. Elder gays defending the husband of a corrupt DA pointing a gun at unarmed protestors simply asking for a meeting that his pathetic wife has denied the community for four years. You are all the types of people that would have called the lunch counter protestors during the civil rights movement "uppity" and deserving of an ass whopping. What a bunch of racist assholes you all are. Pathetic.

r50 it was a mob outside their door at 5:30 in the morning. WTF did you think they would do?

Years ago I was sound asleep in my bedroom when my drunken idiot roommate pounded on my window in the middle of the night because he forgot his key. Scared me to death - I ran and grabbed a knife and was about to call 911 until I realized it was him. Being startled awake like that at an odd hour is terrifying.

by Anonymousreply 51March 3, 2020 2:40 AM

BTW, the DA Jackie Lacey and her husband are both black.

by Anonymousreply 52March 3, 2020 2:41 AM

What the hell were they doing at his doorstep? What the fuck was wrong with those people? I don't blame him one bit. They were assholes.

by Anonymousreply 53March 3, 2020 2:42 AM

R51 What you call a mob, I call protestors who live in the community, which they are, demanding accountability. The DA knows who they are. They've been to her house before. She just thought that having her husband wave a gun in their faces would scare them away, but it's only created outrage in the non DL world. Again, the justifications here for this despicable act are clearly a result of racism. If people were protesting outside of Miss Lindsay Graham's house, you wouldn't get this type of vitriol from the hissing elder gays. You all live in a bubble that is not reflective of reality. I'd like to point out that the beloved DL icon Pete Buttigieg was roundly rejected by most of the gay community outside of the DL and by the voting public, so the sentiments expressed here are not the sentiments of most people. I support the protestors 100%. Black Lives Matter isn't here to pander to or get the approval of a bunch of hissing old white queens.

by Anonymousreply 54March 3, 2020 2:58 AM

And yet, you're here r50 calling people out of touch, old racists. What do you call yourself? An embittered, race baiting agitator? If you hate DL so much then get the fuck out of here.

by Anonymousreply 55March 3, 2020 3:05 AM

Great move BLM. threaten other Blacks.

just proves they don't care about anti-Black crime unless it's perpetrated by Whites, yet the majority is actually black-on-black crime.

So Black lives only matter, when it's white people attacking?? Morons.

by Anonymousreply 56March 3, 2020 3:07 AM

[quote]What you call a mob, I call protestors who live in the community, which they are, demanding accountability. The DA knows who they are.

[quote]Again, the justifications here for this despicable act are clearly a result of racism. If people were protesting outside of Miss Lindsay Graham's house, you wouldn't get this type of vitriol from the hissing elder gays.

The DA and her husband are both BLACK. So that blows your idiotic argument out of the water.

by Anonymousreply 59March 3, 2020 3:12 AM

R1 In this country, you are free to your opinion. But you should understand that what you say you want is literally fascism.

by Anonymousreply 60March 3, 2020 3:13 AM

R55 Trump supporter.

R58 Hissing elder gay.

R59

[Quote] Call it what you want, but it was 5:30 in the fucking morning. They were sound asleep. Who wouldn't be frightened?

If they were that concerned for their safety, which they had no logical reason to be, then stay in the house and call 911. Going out brandishing a gun and having your hand on the trigger is not an acceptable reaction, which is why the police department is investigating Jackie Lacey's Husband for assault with a deadly weapon.

[Quote] The DA and her husband are both BLACK. So that blows your idiotic argument out of the water.

Being protested by other black people for failing to prosecute killer cops who kill other black people. Your assertion that because the DA is black means it's not racist to go after black, unarmed protestors is bat shit crazy.

R62 Another Trump supporter.

by Anonymousreply 63March 3, 2020 3:20 AM

Here in Fla they'd have been stacked up like cord wood . A mob shows up at my door at 6 am I promise you there wouldnt be much discussion but a hell of lot of shots.

by Anonymousreply 64March 3, 2020 3:23 AM

How can anybody defend these stupid fucks who showed up uninvited to somebody's doorstep at 5:30 in the morning to "protest?" They were looking for trouble and they got it. And they could have gotten much more. I think the guy showed remarkable restraint. Some people would have gone out there guns blazing, mowing the idiotic "protesters" down in a hail of gunfire. They should consider themselves lucky.

by Anonymousreply 65March 3, 2020 3:40 AM

[quote]If they were that concerned for their safety, which they had no logical reason to be, then stay in the house and call 911.

Oh for fuck's sake have you ever been startled awake at an ungodly hour because somebody is outside your house and for all you know they're trying to break in? Real life doesn't work the way you think it should, or because of what you see on tv shows you stupid cunt.

by Anonymousreply 66March 3, 2020 3:41 AM

And then you'd be in jail, r64. Showing up on your doorstep doesn't allow you to live your redneck cowboy dreams and open fire. Fucker.

by Anonymousreply 67March 3, 2020 3:48 AM

Given the circumstances, there was probable cause for self defense so the person probably wouldn't face any jail time. There have been a number of cases like this.

by Anonymousreply 68March 3, 2020 3:49 AM

You can't shoot someone who knocks on your door.

by Anonymousreply 69March 3, 2020 3:51 AM

Boris is sure working overtime today to divide whites from blacks across America!

#PrimaryMeddling

by Anonymousreply 70March 3, 2020 3:51 AM

R54 can't be for real.

It's one thing for protesters to gather at the building housing the office of whoever they have an issue with, but showing up at a public official's fucking PRIVATE RESIDENCE? How could anyone ever believe that doing so is remotely ok?

R27 is correct. Their actions were absolutely intended to be a low-key threat/intimidation tactic. Even the time of day they chose was meant to make a statement. It's a way of sending the message, "Even while you're in your bed, even while you're eating your Raisin Bran in your bathrobe and hair curlers, we're not letting you off the hook."

by Anonymousreply 71March 3, 2020 3:53 AM

Fuck off, R54. You come onto MY porch, MY front lawn, or anywhere on MY private property and threaten or protest me, I don’t care if you’re black, white, or polka-dotted or I have two heads, you’ll be meeting MY protection as well. Stop acting like you can read minds and discern motives. My motive is to protect me and my loved ones.

by Anonymousreply 73March 3, 2020 4:23 AM

R67 Oh honey ,we INVENTED stand your ground in Fla . Id shoot a bunch of them then toss a throwaway pistol on the ground. I wouldnt do 5 minutes in jail . They were assholes, and it would have served them right if he had capped a few of them.

by Anonymousreply 74March 3, 2020 4:29 AM

Dumbass, stand your ground is based on being attacked, not knocking on your door, redneck jackass.

by Anonymousreply 75March 3, 2020 4:37 AM

No, if a person feels their life is in danger they can defend themselves with a gun on their property. There have been cases like this, where the person was not charged.

by Anonymousreply 76March 3, 2020 4:44 AM

R75 how's this... why don't you share your address here, and the rest of us will head to the local online classified pages for your neighborhood and post an assortment of "open house invitations" on your behalf.

Let's see how well you'd handle a mob of strangers coming onto your property wanting God knows what. Just remember, it's not an attack. ;)

by Anonymousreply 77March 3, 2020 5:03 AM

How did I know when I began to read R50 that there would be an eventual dig at Mayor Pete (at R54)?

by Anonymousreply 78March 3, 2020 5:13 AM

You forgot to add Bernie Bros, R78!

by Anonymousreply 79March 3, 2020 9:43 AM

No. Just no. Have some damn commonsense. Yes it is scary when you have people you don't know standing outside your home.

NO, you cannot kill or harm someone just because you're scared. All of you know this and you're embarrassing yourselves trying to pretend anything else is okay

by Anonymousreply 80March 3, 2020 4:06 PM

R80, no one was killed or harmed. But someone came looking for a fight and they got more than they bargained for.

by Anonymousreply 81March 3, 2020 5:04 PM

Okay, BLM apologists, how would you react if a bunch of white trash wearing MAGA hats showed up on your doorstep when it was dark, and stood there looking angry and asking to come in and discuss some work or political issue?

You'd freak, that's how you'd react! You'd assume they were there to lynch or gay-bash you, or stage a home invasion or burn your fucking house down to terrorize the community by making an example of you! You'd grab any weapon you had as well as the phone go dial 911, and if you had an Uzi or a flame-thrower you'd bring it out.

R27 here, repeating that thay showing up unannounced in the dark was damn well meant to be threatening, and any sane person would have taken it as a threat and reacted defensively. If the imaginary MAGA thugs told you "We know where you live", you'd sure as hell feel threatened, not open to political discourse.

by Anonymousreply 82March 3, 2020 6:19 PM

This was the day before election day. Early enough in the morning that it could get morning, afternoon, and evening news coverage. They were trying to get the black DA to call the cops on Black activists. Because calling the cops on someone is now seen as a lethal threat in the black community and they shame people for doing it. It was to hurt DA Lacey's share of the black vote.

by Anonymousreply 83March 5, 2020 6:20 AM

Good for him. These BLM terrorists need to be arrested.

by Anonymousreply 84March 5, 2020 6:31 AM

If they didn’t leave the porch immediately, I would have pushed the gun in an even more threatening manner towards these lowlife scum bags.

If they moved forward another inch, I would have shot at them at their feet so I would minimize the chance of killing them. If they didn’t retreat, head shots would be next.

Fuck the psycho thugs.

by Anonymousreply 85March 5, 2020 6:47 AM

R85 isn't that hard to do with a mouthful of Doritos and a dildo up your ass?

by Anonymousreply 86March 5, 2020 6:50 AM

Thank you R50, R54, R60, R61, R63, R67, R75 and even R86 (lol)

Aside from your comments, reading this dreck has reminded me also of why we haven't had any major federal gun reform laws. And I had to read through a lot of garbage before I got to your comments.

R69 Yes you can shoot someone for knocking on your door if it's 1992 Louisiana. RIP Yoshihiro Hattori (He was the lost Japanese foreign exchange student who was shot dead on Halloween ... for being lost)

by Anonymousreply 87March 5, 2020 7:24 AM

R83 Gets it right to a T. This was clearly planned and intentional, because BLM knew there was no way for the DA and her husband to react that wouldn't make them look bad during the news cycle before election day. This was a calculated attempt to make her look like a racist, because even if she had simply not responded and called the cops in a peaceful way she would have looked like the bad guy. There was no way for her to win this and they knew it.

Despicable. BLM is truly despicable. They deserve whatever they get, I hope the MAGA assholes show up on that professors door at five in the morning with an angry mob of their own. See how they like it for a change.

by Anonymousreply 88March 5, 2020 12:58 PM

"there was no way for the DA and her husband to react that wouldn't make them look bad"

Yes, there was. It's called not answering the door. And, if you answer the door, don't have a gun in your hand.

by Anonymousreply 89March 5, 2020 1:02 PM

I actually voted for her because of it

by Anonymousreply 90March 5, 2020 1:22 PM

Did she win?

by Anonymousreply 91March 5, 2020 1:35 PM

if BLM is so concerned about black lives, why aren't they doing something about the astronomically high black murder rate. Aren't 93 out of 100 black murders committed by other blacks? Instead they are on a citizens porch at 5:30 a m with a photographer threatening, intimidating the homeowners. The thugs are lucky they weren't shot. I hope she was reelected.

by Anonymousreply 92March 5, 2020 1:52 PM

r91 Right now it's showing she got 50.14%, but I don't know if all the ballots have been counted. If she holds at over 50%, then she won; if not, there's a runoff between her and the second-place finisher in November.

by Anonymousreply 93March 5, 2020 3:39 PM

If I were her I'd be moving into a gated community right now, or at least upping my security system. God only knows what these psychotic thugs will do if she wins.

by Anonymousreply 94March 6, 2020 3:08 AM

r94 News reports said she lived in Grenada Hills. It's technically part of LA county but literally on the edge of the valley. It's 20 miles from downtown and 30-40 miles away from the black majority areas of the city. my guess is she won't be running into the black lives matter crew accidentally....and they wont be driving to her house again because she'll likely have months of police protection.
