Marie Osmond says, 'I'm not leaving any money to my children' after death

Marie Osmond won’t leave any money to her children after she passes away, The Talk co-host, 60, said Friday.

The former country singer is a member of the famous Osmond family, who ruled the music scene in the 1960s and ‘70s as the Osmonds. Marie and her brother Donny Osmond, 62, also hosted a 1970s variety show called Donny & Marie. The Dancing with the Stars alum has been married three times and shares 6 children, two biological and five adopted, with her ex-husbands. (In 2010, Marie’s 18-year-old son Michael died by suicide).

During The Talk segment, the women discussed reports that Kirk Douglas, who died in February at age 103, left most of his multimillion dollar fortune to charity.

“I'm not leaving any money to my children,” Marie told her CBS co-hosts, adding, “Congratulations, kids.”

“My husband and I decided that...I think you do a great disservice to your children to just hand them a fortune because you take away the one most important gift you can give your children, and that’s the ability to work,” she said.

Marie said children of wealthy families often “don’t know what to do” and “get in trouble,” saying, “Let them be proud of what they make, and I’m going to give mine to my charity.” She clarified that her views don’t void a desire to help children, for example, helping them to purchase a home or car.

The topic gave way to a friendly debate. “I disagree with that,” said co-host Sheryl Underwood. “I think that when you come from a family of money, you raise your children to value money and understand money and because they [were] born into the family, they should have a healthy respect for money.”

Guest host Carnie Wilson of the former band Wilson Phillips, added, “I’m somewhere in the middle. I love the idea of teaching your children to work.” Admitting that she hails from a successful, hardworking family herself — Carnie and her sister bandmate Wendy are the daughters of Brian Wilson, a founding member of the Beach Boys — Carnie said she prefers leaving some money to her children while also instilling a work ethic.

Co-host Sharon Osbourne, who is married to three-time Grammy rocker Ozzy Osbourne, tactfully disagreed with Marie. “Everybody is different, and I just know that my husband’s body of work that he’s written and kept us all in the lifestyle that we love, goes to my children and his name and likeness goes to my children...” she said, adding, “I don’t want somebody that never met my husband owning his name and likeness and selling T shirts everywhere and...no, it stays in the Osbourne family.”

Marie ought to give it all to suicide prevention and a homeless gay youth charity to begin to make up for driving her gay son to suicide. That cunt.

by Anonymousreply 1March 2, 2020 6:28 PM

Marie is crazy. Really crazy.

Kathy Griffin has a great crazy Marie encounter/story.

That said, I doubt she has that much money anyway.

by Anonymousreply 2March 2, 2020 6:33 PM

Greedy cunt.

She's probably scared that her kids will "off" her.

I'm sure they hate her.

by Anonymousreply 3March 2, 2020 6:34 PM

Surely not all kids from wealthy families are obnoxious jerks who run up a lot of debt and have substance abuse problems. Can't you give your kids a comfortable life and also instill in them values that make them half-decent human beings?

by Anonymousreply 4March 2, 2020 6:34 PM

I dunno R 2. You can make serious $$ shilling dolls!

by Anonymousreply 5March 2, 2020 6:35 PM

She and Donny and a decades long residency in Vegas. She's got money.

by Anonymousreply 6March 2, 2020 6:37 PM

She'll probably leave the money to the Mormon church.

by Anonymousreply 7March 2, 2020 6:38 PM

No one should

by Anonymousreply 8March 2, 2020 6:40 PM

Go choke on a doll, Marie.

by Anonymousreply 9March 2, 2020 6:40 PM

I'd rather leave it to the kids instead of the government. The gvt. took enough of my money while I was alive

by Anonymousreply 10March 2, 2020 6:42 PM

Who will care for her Hitler-loving Nazi daughter?

by Anonymousreply 11March 2, 2020 6:42 PM

She's just saying that to motivated all her obese drug addicted children to smarten up and make porn.

by Anonymousreply 12March 2, 2020 6:42 PM

[quote] I'd rather leave it to the kids instead of the government. The gvt. took enough of my money while I was alive

R7 is right.

She's leaving it all to the Gorgons.

Stupid brainwashed bitch.

by Anonymousreply 13March 2, 2020 6:43 PM

Prepare for more suicides, Marie.

You’re literally telling your kids they’re alone.

by Anonymousreply 14March 2, 2020 6:43 PM

They should just steal from her now.

Then they won't have to wait until she's dead.

by Anonymousreply 15March 2, 2020 6:44 PM

Osmond sells her shitty dolls on some home shopping channel to elderly collectors, with the promise of "In a couple of years, you can sell them for double, even triple the amount you paid for them!" In a couple of years, you won't be able to sell the dolls for twenty bucks each, the secondary doll market is flooded with modern porcelain dolls.

She's a toothy grifter.

by Anonymousreply 16March 2, 2020 6:49 PM

R11?

Who are you possibly referring to?

by Anonymousreply 17March 2, 2020 6:57 PM

Why doesn't this bitch take the middle ground? She could have her children inherit her money when each of them is 40. That way, they'll be forced to work to learn how to support themselves. It might be an incentive: don't fuck up. Stick around long enough to get that money. If they have gained insight from the experience, they will appreciate their inheritance more.

by Anonymousreply 18March 2, 2020 7:01 PM

I would give them an education and teach them the responsibility of having money. Then I'd say you get your trust of 1-5 million when you turn 30. If you can't handle your money by then well that's on you!

by Anonymousreply 19March 2, 2020 7:07 PM

[quote]That said, I doubt she has that much money anyway.

Her Net Worth is estimated at 20 to 24 million. She made a shit load of money selling those ugly dolls to house Fraus. More than she ever made as an actress.

by Anonymousreply 20March 2, 2020 7:08 PM

I don't get it, work all your life and be away from your children to leave the money all to charity?

I do recall reading one of her daughters, the cop who is a Lesbian, had to live in her car for awhile after Marie cut her off.

The 10+ year Vegas residency alone should be enough for her to retire already, she's going to keep working for charity?

by Anonymousreply 21March 2, 2020 7:08 PM

If she was a good mother, her son would have never committed suicide There I said it. Flame all you want you bitchy Fraus.

The reason I say that is most kids who do that have absent parents more focused on themselves or their careers than teaching their kids about life, how to be happy and giving them practical life skills BEFORE they become adults.

It always amazes me how clueless these rich people are who fail to teach their kids norm life skill than any middle class people can do and then suddenly expect them to have it as adults. Then want to punish them for not knowing how to survive. It's really like a double fuck you to the child.

by Anonymousreply 22March 2, 2020 7:15 PM

[quote]I’m going to give mine to my charity.

The Mormon Church is not a charity. It is a very wealthy corporation.

by Anonymousreply 23March 2, 2020 7:19 PM

I love Sharon Osbourne weighing on this issue.

Like her daughter could get cab fare with her "talents."

by Anonymousreply 24March 2, 2020 7:20 PM

I like some of the suggestions above. If I were her advisor I would say this. Stop being black and white.

Donate 1/2 your fortune to Gay / Suicide charities to atone for your shitty parenting.

Divide the rest EQUALLY among all your kids, put it into a trust with structured payments. Give them a middle class monthly payment so they can at least survive without having to turn tricks or sell drugs. Then if they do something like go to college, or other life skill milestones, they get bigger chunks of money. The bulk of it not being release until 40. It's not very hard, people set up trusts all the time for their kids.

by Anonymousreply 25March 2, 2020 7:22 PM

Marie is like 70 years old. She's a more natural looking Cher. Aren't her children already in their forties?

by Anonymousreply 26March 2, 2020 7:26 PM

I knew an old-money family. They had five kids and the father worked in brain research. The mother was a sculptor. The sculptors were of kids playing and you can see them all over the grounds of Beverly Hills mansions. Big on charity. They used to make their kids work every summer. They are all successful working in non-profit organizations. It just depends on how you raise your kids.

by Anonymousreply 27March 2, 2020 7:32 PM

no, because like all of these rich folk they have it set up so that the children already received everything in a trust long before the death duties accrue.

by Anonymousreply 28March 2, 2020 7:33 PM

She's saying this to keep the IRS off her estate when she dies. She'll leave it all in trust / establish a non-profit organisation which will hold the estate money, and each of the kids will have the standing offer to 'work' for the foundation and get paid an obscene amount every year so long as they live up to certain lifestyle standards (no drugs, etc etc).

by Anonymousreply 29March 2, 2020 7:37 PM

[quote] Let them be proud of what they make, and I’m going to give mine to my charity

That's the key to what Marie said. She's going to leave it to her kids, but she's going to run all the money through her charity. Just like all the other rich cunts who say they aren't leaving a penny to their kids. It's 100% BULLSHIT. A complete and utter lie.

The kids already have trust funds. They're all set up just from that alone. But then when the rich parent is dead, the kids will all take jobs with the scam charity. They'll get cars, travel, all kinds of shit and a salary through the charity. People like Bill Gates who own companies will give their children seats on the board of the company, salary, cars, free travel on the corporate jet, free stays at the corporate apartments, homes and every other type of perk that you can't even begin to imagine. They'll also be able to take out loans (that don't have to be repaid) from the company. And once again, that's on top of their trust funds and all the company stock they were gifted each and every year they've been alive

My old boss left all his money to his charity. The kids are the board of directors of the charity. His kids had trust funds and now they write off all their travel and living expenses. They've been all over the world, FIRST CLASS. The best hotels, first class airfare, private jets, top of the line cameras, mountain climbing equipment and all kinds of extracurricular shit like that. They just make sure they label it as a charity trip. They do one charity event and spend the next 2 months traveling around whatever continent they are on. The son actually wanted to get into film making and funded a movie through the charity. He lives in a $3 million home and has a $2 million NYC apt and she lives in a $4 million home in Jackson, Wyoming (after traveling for 3 years). The charity gives out very, very little and they invest the bulk of the money and the charity makes a fortune almost tax free

by Anonymousreply 30March 2, 2020 7:54 PM

As long as the kids are decent people and are not embezzling, drug-addicted criminals. parents should leave their money to the kids. Marie is WRONG.

Besides, she should give them something. The intended charity doesn't have to get it all. And is she's taught her kids the value of working their whole lives, then chances are, they will not squander their rightful inheritance.

On the other hand, Marie may have already provided for kids and set aside money for them about which she is not telling us. So now, the balance of what she has left is all going to her charity.

by Anonymousreply 31March 2, 2020 8:02 PM

Mor(m)ons, ya gotta hate 'em.

by Anonymousreply 32March 2, 2020 8:04 PM

When she says "charity," does she just mean the Mormon Church?

by Anonymousreply 33March 2, 2020 8:32 PM

[quote]R28 all of these rich folk they have it set up so that the children already received everything in a trust long before the death duties accrue.

My rich friends are also given the biggest check possible by their parents each year, that’s a non taxable gift.

by Anonymousreply 34March 2, 2020 8:38 PM

A filthy cunt, and even worse as a mother.

That's the problem. I think that Marie IS that hard core.

Not sure how she was raised, but her public persona must be very different from how she is privately.

These kinds of actions by celebrities, really let you know how they are as a person.

If you think that Marie is being cunty, by cutting her kids out of her will? Then she probably is a cunt, a la Joan Crawford.

by Anonymousreply 37March 2, 2020 9:22 PM

Marie and John Schneider co founded the Children's Miracle Network.

by Anonymousreply 38March 2, 2020 9:24 PM

Assuming she probably won't be earning much as her Vegas residency is over and she will probably live at least another 20 years, I doubt that she'd have much left to leave in any case.

by Anonymousreply 39March 2, 2020 9:26 PM

Who she gonna leave all her wigs to?

by Anonymousreply 40March 2, 2020 9:36 PM

She has received a lot of criticism about this. I wonder if she regrets dropping this bomb. I noticed her holding her tongue at the table today.

by Anonymousreply 41March 2, 2020 9:45 PM

Is she not a blonde anymore? I don't watch the show so I rely on DL for these type of updates.

As she should.

It makes her look like a greedy, petty, and vindictive cunt.

It's possible that she's referring to the affiliated charities run under the church which include the BYU schools. I have a friend who is an ex Mormon and she mentioned how when her grandfather and several older relatives passed away-they stated in their wills that they wanted some of their money to be donated to BYU and programs that financially help Mormon missionaries during their 2 year missions.

What’s bizarre to me is a) her willingness to air this dirty laundry, and b) her clean Rethuglican values. She thinks she’s inspiring other Americans by “teaching them how these kids need to be treated” if you don’t want to end up with brats. That’s absolutely what she’s doing by announcing this, she reveals her hatred of American culture, MAGA Marie, yes?

by Anonymousreply 54March 3, 2020 4:14 AM

I love the fact that "very religious Mormon" and "squeaky clean" Marie Osmond had teenage daughters who called themselves "whores" who wanted to fuck as many people as possible.

You just know she is a narcissist who liked the PR of having children, but not the children themselves. Very Joan Crawford.

R56 I just read the other thread about working retail. Someone posted that they worked at a Barnes & Nobel in Provo, Utah and Mormon men were constantly taking medical books off the shelves and taking them into the bathrooms to beat off and cum on the anatomy pics.

I totally agree with R1 and I bet you her inheritance she never even thought of anything like that. She seems like a complete cold stone bitch at that clip in R48. I bet she was a crap mother and believe me I know about crap mothers -- they can do tremendous damage.
