Like they just randomly pop in your head?
Do you ever just randomly start thinking about someone you haven’t seen in years?

All the time. Sometimes I Google their name to see where they are. (I guess this is a form of stalking?) Once I Googled someone I worked with and found out they passed away a few months before.

God, yes...quite often.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | February 23, 2020 12:42 PM |
Very often, almost daily.

This thread is a figment of our imagination.

I had a good friend at high school who I lost touch with. From time to time I'd try to find him on the internet but he had such a common name it was near impossible. One time, about 6 months ago, he was really on my mind so I tried again and this time I found him and that he'd died about a week before.
His widow owns a little local art gallery in London, it seems. Really nice stuff. I considered paying her a visit and then thought better of it.
She had a Facebook page with a few pics of him and I hardly recognised him.

I think this is an older person thing. When you're in your 20s and 30s you are probably surrounded by your friends and know their activities and whereabouts.
Yes, I am usually wondering about past acquaintances, as well.
The thing that pisses me off is there is no easy, free way to really locate people. Anywho.com or FamilyTreeNow.com are the only two that seem to currently work.

This isn’t my thread. But how cute for someone to have mine deleted so they can create the same topic.

Yes. Especially school or university friends. I've lost touch with almost all of them. These days I've been thinking about a friend I haven't seen in ten years, for no reason at all. Usually when that happens I google them to check if they're okay, then forget about it. I guess I could get a facebbok account, but social media makes me uncomfortable.
I'm in my thirties, R6, but most of my friends got married, started a family, and I lost contact with them

No, the past is over, stop trying to live in it.

I have dreams about people I haven’t seen for years. Then I’m worried they’re dead. This is a by-product of aging.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | February 23, 2020 1:10 PM |
Yes and in the last few years i google them too and find out they’re dead. I’m 46 and it’s scary how many gay guys my age are taking their own lives.

Taking them where?

It's just the booze talking Rose
by Anonymous | reply 13 | February 23, 2020 1:39 PM |
I think about this guy sometimes. Miss him.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | February 23, 2020 1:43 PM |
Funny you should mention that. I was thinking about my old personal trainer just the other day. Do you think I should give them a call?
by Anonymous | reply 15 | February 23, 2020 1:46 PM |
The past is a foreign country. People do things differently there.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | February 23, 2020 2:02 PM |
Oh my God! I was just thinking about this thread the other day!
by Anonymous | reply 17 | February 23, 2020 2:08 PM |
I think of exes who I loved all the time. Not to get back together. But just why I loved them. Cheesy, I know.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | February 23, 2020 2:40 PM |
Yes. Then they died.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | February 23, 2020 2:50 PM |
Googling is a form of stalking? Hmmm.
I google people all the time, and certain people, I google repeatedly. I can assure you I’m not a stalker.
A stalker follows you, spies on you, etc., physically. If they stalk you via electronic methods, they usually hack your emails, or other illegal shit.
Looking at someone’s Instagram page or Facebook isn’t stalking.

R9 The past isn’t over. It isn’t even the past.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | February 23, 2020 3:31 PM |
Yes, a trick I met fifteen years ago and I went home with him. Everything that I wanted to have in a boyfriend. Self employed, attractive and a huge penis. One hot night and I never saw him again. Don’t know what happened to him. Which is why bars are terrible places to go and meet people.

Ugh, this thread is on point. My mom just told that for whatever reason one of my sisters childhood friends popped into her head earlier this morning.
She googled her and she died a couple of years at 29. Her sister died prematurely at 32, 4 years before that. Both natural causes. Feel so bad for her parents. Both were really nice girls.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | February 23, 2020 3:42 PM |
Yes. When it happens I usually find out later that they died.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | February 23, 2020 3:45 PM |
I doubt they are always dead.

I’d hardly call 29 “a couple of years.”

I did today. A friend text me that they ran into an ex-friend of mine. For the first time I had a mild reaction to it so maybe it / they are past history. I had been sooo angry about it all.

R26, Sorry my brain was moving faster than my fingers. She died a couple of years ago at 29. I couldn't stand most of my sister's friend's growing up, but I always liked her.

Your sister’s friend’s what though?
by Anonymous | reply 29 | February 23, 2020 7:20 PM |
Sometimes I do look up people on Facebook to see what they are doing...
by Anonymous | reply 30 | February 23, 2020 10:06 PM |
Yes of course I do. I'd rather not but I make the best of it.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | February 23, 2020 10:48 PM |
Occasionally. There are also a couple of people from my past who I regularly think of. I wonder if they think of me. Probably not.
