How much do they spend on advertising?? Their commercials and shitty jingle are on ALL THE TIME!
I HATE WAYFAIR

They just laid off over 550 employees (the number seems to keep rising every time I see another article about this)

Only The Poors watch TV with commercials.

Wayfair’s got just what I need! (Fiberboard, Polyurethane foam, covered in turquoise polyester and stapled together)
by Anonymous | reply 3 | February 21, 2020 6:14 PM |
It’s a stock worth shorting.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | February 21, 2020 6:29 PM |
It’s cheap garbage.
We inherited a house along with a frau relative, and she keeps “re-redecorating” with Wayfair crap. We’ll find a piece of antique pine replaced with white lacquer “shabby chic!” Lovely old wool oriental broadloom with synthetic fiber CRAP. And then bragging about the good deal. Yeah, the dollar store has pound cake, too, honey. Doesn’t make it a good deal.
Fucking shoot me.

OP, where do you buy your lifesized Mike Pence figures if not from Wayfair? I have to refresh mine at least quarterly because they get so crusty and warped from all the...well, you know. All the viscous appreciation.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | February 21, 2020 6:36 PM |
And where else can you get an etched wood “Keep America Great!” Trump Christmas tree ornament???
by Anonymous | reply 7 | February 21, 2020 6:38 PM |
Their on sale for 75% off items are still more expensive than their normal priced items at other stores/websites. It’s scam. Only idiots buy stuff there.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | February 21, 2020 6:40 PM |
The brand I work for sells on there. Wayfair doesn’t “own” any merchandise, they dropship everything and white label it so all looks like their own house brands.
Their “sales” as R8 are bogus too. We never discount but they’re constantly putting our stuff in “events” and just marking up the MSRP, and yes sometimes selling for more than the actual price . It’s all done by algorithms, the more traffic a product receives the more in demand it appears and the price goes up.
I handle all our e-commerce accounts and Wayfair is the biggest nightmare to deal with, hands down.

where do you get good furniture that won't cause bankruptcy?
i'm tired of cheap crap, but can't sell a kidney.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | February 21, 2020 11:41 PM |
Auctions and consignment stores, r10
by Anonymous | reply 11 | February 22, 2020 1:22 AM |
I need shitty cheap furniture but I refuse to look at Wayfair because I hate their commercials so much. I'd rather pay double at Ikea.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | February 22, 2020 1:23 AM |
I'd fuck the fatty in the commercials.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | February 22, 2020 1:26 AM |
I actually use it - because I hate to pay a lot for furniture. I don’t care if it’s crappy. I juts need it to look good for a short while until I sell the house and the buy anew one - which requires a lot of new furniture.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | February 22, 2020 1:49 AM |
It’s glossed up, poor quality furniture. It wears out quickly, and can be tossed. It’s best to buy high quality used furniture, if good furniture is unaffordable. Always invest in good upholstery, quality lasts.

I bought a rug from them that looked great but was cheap as shit and started pilling in a month. Not to mention the offgassing was horrible , My whole house smelled like a dollar store !
by Anonymous | reply 16 | February 22, 2020 2:18 AM |
R16 did it smell like pound cake, hun?
by Anonymous | reply 17 | February 22, 2020 2:22 AM |
I don’t have an antenna so I’ve never seen their commercials.
But I searched this up just to see the fuckable fatty from r13.
Did I get the right one?
by Anonymous | reply 18 | February 22, 2020 2:59 AM |
All shitty WAYFAIR ads are non-union!
That means they don't hire SAG-AFTRA actors!
by Anonymous | reply 19 | February 22, 2020 5:14 AM |
The only way to get good furniture for a good price is to buy secondhand. I’ve seen and gotten beautiful antiques and solid contemporary for free, sometimes. Hit an estate sale in a Tony Enclave ™ and got an incomplete set of dining chairs for $100.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | February 22, 2020 11:11 AM |
I think R13 referred to the guy in that “James Bond” Wayfair commercial.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | February 22, 2020 11:12 AM |
R7 that looks like Liberace

I bought some accent pieces there. Agree about buying used furniture and refinishing it, but spending weekends searching the antique markets for what you need - right style, right size, right price - takes a hell of a lot of time. Some people enjoy that as a hobby but I don’t find it fun. I wouldn’t buy a couch on Wayfair or a used one from a flea market though.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | February 22, 2020 12:03 PM |
I use letgo to find some good used furniture. It depends where you are located. But in wealthier, transient areas you can find some good stuff.
But for big items like couches or things that will touch your skin, I prefer to buy cheap new stuff from Wayfair or Overstock. I dispose of it after 3-4 years anyway.
Just don’t ever go to Houzz or any of their links - they have insidious software that will annoy you for months and years after. Plus their prices are not good and everything on the site is a scam.

A big part of this problem is “fast furniture” - an appeal that several posters have noted: affordable pieces that are only expected to last a few years.
The practice of buying and soon jettisoning cheap furniture contributes to deforestation and landfills in addition to introducing toxic chemicals into homes.
When I moved this summer, the movers had me sign a waiver that exempted them from damage to anything made from particle board or MDF. They said it just falls apart too easily.
I think used furniture is the best affordable alternative. Solid wood and real craftsmanship, as opposed to MDF crap made by low-wage factory workers in East Asia.
I am too worried about bedbugs to get something upholstered, however.
I did buy an okay sofa from Wayfair when I didn’t see anything local that I liked.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | February 22, 2020 4:26 PM |
I’ve got a third hand Pottery Barn sofa. It belonged to a friend of my MIL who never used it, then my SIL who didn’t use it much, and it’s come to us and we live on the thing. Previous owners were immaculate and didn’t have bedbugs or pets, so I was happy to get it. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have accepted a used, upholstered piece.
