Two old ladies who live in a hotel and argue

Anyone remember this video from 2007 or so that made the rounds? Trying to find it but having trouble.

It was two old women who'd known each other for a long time, sharing a small hotel room I think in NYC. On wore a fur hat and was very, very mean, and the other had longer silver hair.

I think there was a sketch on Rupaul's SNL ep that was based on these women.

Help me DL, you're my only hope!

The one in the hat looks like Elaine Stritch

by Anonymousreply 3February 21, 2020 12:58 AM

This is the best one.

Marilyn died in 2011 and Royce a year later,

by Anonymousreply 5February 21, 2020 1:07 AM

At first I assumed OP was referring to Grey Gardens.

What the fuck is THIS fresh hell?

by Anonymousreply 6February 21, 2020 1:28 AM

R4 Is that a Princess Diana commemorative plate on a stand by the beside at the end?

by Anonymousreply 7February 21, 2020 1:29 AM

The male version.

How have I not seen this before? Thank you DL. What a treasure.

by Anonymousreply 9February 21, 2020 1:40 AM

It's Grey Gardens meets Absolutely Fabulous

by Anonymousreply 10February 21, 2020 1:49 AM

You're welcome OP, I've been obsessed with the pair for years. I believe there was a crowd funder at one point to make a documentary about them - I'm not sure what happened with that.

Poor Marilyn.

"It was Milton Berle...a little dirty, you know - " "Trash!!"

This is where the SNL skit came from? This is why I come to DL.

by Anonymousreply 12February 21, 2020 2:00 AM

I can't get over how mean the one woman is!

by Anonymousreply 13February 22, 2020 2:40 AM

The nasty one is a drunk. I can’t believe the other one puts up with her. I want to be the nice, happy one when I get older - “things change, you have to get used to it”.

by Anonymousreply 14February 22, 2020 2:51 AM

R8 The "Shut up, little man" recordings are just incredible. Even after all these years. Have you seen the documentary about the guys who secretly taped the arguments?

The male version is just sad. It doesn’t have the happy one. Both guys are miserable - seemingly just nasty drunks.

by Anonymousreply 16February 22, 2020 3:48 AM

A write-up about them. I thought this was performance art? I guess they were for real!

Hilarious

by Anonymousreply 19February 22, 2020 4:10 AM

Good find r17

by Anonymousreply 20February 22, 2020 4:21 AM

Hotel Stillwell is in what was then a rather gritty part of Downtown LA. Of course now, the area has been gentrified and what was once an SRO is probably being considered 'luxury lofts.'

They were certainly a pair of colorful personalities..

by Anonymousreply 21February 22, 2020 4:52 AM

Both were drunks r14

by Anonymousreply 22February 22, 2020 5:07 AM

Royce certainly has a compelling presence.

R27, thank you for that! I know what I'll be watching tonight.

That's such an LA situation...

by Anonymousreply 29May 3, 2020 11:25 PM

I think they’re tremendous!

by Anonymousreply 30May 3, 2020 11:32 PM

How do these women know each other? Were they friends? relatives?

by Anonymousreply 31May 4, 2020 2:23 AM

I think this would make a fascinating drama starring two older actresses. Particularly the part when their rent got raised and instead of paying it, they put their things in storage and went on a year of travelling and living large.

Marilyn was in love with Royce. Even after all the verbal abuse.

by Anonymousreply 34May 26, 2020 4:51 AM

thx,,,,,fabulous ! pity vivien leigh wont chat more bout her early life.... share more?

by Anonymousreply 35May 26, 2020 9:26 AM

That was a harrowing documentary. It makes me simultaneously want to quit drinking and consign all my old skinny clothes! At least at the very end, Royce was nice to Marilyn.

by Anonymousreply 36May 26, 2020 3:30 PM

I fear I will have nightmaress over Royce's face, old lady scarey lonely sad...
