Thanks, OP!

by Anonymousreply 2February 20, 2020 2:59 AM

Bernie has dandruff.

by Anonymousreply 3February 20, 2020 3:00 AM

FoxNews is going to have a ball with this tomorrow.

by Anonymousreply 4February 20, 2020 3:00 AM

Billions of Bernie’s Billionaires!

by Anonymousreply 5February 20, 2020 3:00 AM

a lot of people on twitter unhappy there were no questions about Barr and Trump pardons

by Anonymousreply 6February 20, 2020 3:00 AM
Sanders / Buttageig ticket

Is the only way I'd cast a vote for Bernie.

by Anonymousreply 7February 20, 2020 3:00 AM

Bernie has old man smell.

by Anonymousreply 8February 20, 2020 3:00 AM

Amy walked PAST PETE!

by Anonymousreply 9February 20, 2020 3:00 AM

I love Lester Holt and his Linda Hunt mouth.

by Anonymousreply 10February 20, 2020 3:01 AM

Amy dipped out, snubbing everyone.

by Anonymousreply 11February 20, 2020 3:01 AM

Colin Jost will NEVER do Pete justice this week. NEVER.

by Anonymousreply 12February 20, 2020 3:01 AM

the protestors are those shrieking girls from the Hot Dad with the deer in the pool.

by Anonymousreply 13February 20, 2020 3:01 AM

Why did the protesters wait until the final minutes of a 2-hour debate? What a waste of effort.

by Anonymousreply 14February 20, 2020 3:01 AM

Do you think I"m DUMB?!!!?

by Anonymousreply 15February 20, 2020 3:01 AM

Burn - Amy walks off without shaking Pete's hand!

by Anonymousreply 16February 20, 2020 3:01 AM

Amy stormed off the stage in a tizzy. Pete reached out to her and she snubbed him.

by Anonymousreply 17February 20, 2020 3:01 AM

Holy shit, r10. You nailed it.

by Anonymousreply 18February 20, 2020 3:01 AM

Amy looking for sugar to poor into Pete's gas tank

by Anonymousreply 19February 20, 2020 3:01 AM

pour of course

by Anonymousreply 20February 20, 2020 3:02 AM

Amy was rattled. Plain as that.

by Anonymousreply 21February 20, 2020 3:02 AM

Bernie went to Joe and shook his hand.

by Anonymousreply 22February 20, 2020 3:02 AM

Amy has some binders to throw at her poor staff.

by Anonymousreply 23February 20, 2020 3:02 AM
Amy dipped out, snubbing everyone.

Amy is very upset with herself. She let the mask slip.

by Anonymousreply 24February 20, 2020 3:02 AM

R6 but thank god we got to the bottom of Amy not knowing the name of the Mexican prez.

by Anonymousreply 25February 20, 2020 3:02 AM

The anti-Warren trolls on these threads are really tiresome. Basically "hurr durr Pocahontas too many plans shrill woman". Definitely some paid shills active here.

by Anonymousreply 26February 20, 2020 3:02 AM

Did #CherokeeLiz have her own pony growing up, or did the entire family have to share one?

by Anonymousreply 27February 20, 2020 3:02 AM

Amy in the Spin Room should be a trip. She's on fire and will get in some more digs at Pete, guaranteed.

by Anonymousreply 28February 20, 2020 3:02 AM

Amy just STALKED OFFSTAGE without shaking ANYONE'S hand!

by Anonymousreply 29February 20, 2020 3:02 AM

Biden and Pete shook hands. Very respectful.

by Anonymousreply 30February 20, 2020 3:02 AM

I think it will be Jungle Red tonight.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 31February 20, 2020 3:02 AM

Amy saying the name of the Mexican president looked bad. She should only have said it if asked directly.

by Anonymousreply 32February 20, 2020 3:03 AM

The only person who should be happy tonight is Dump, as he watches the Dems destroy each other.

by Anonymousreply 33February 20, 2020 3:03 AM

Amy is just nuts tonight. I mean it's kind of fun and funny, but really, was Pete your main problem here?

by Anonymousreply 34February 20, 2020 3:03 AM
a lot of people on twitter unhappy there were no questions about Barr and Trump pardons

Why? I guarantee every single one of the candidates agree that Barr should resign and the Trump pardons are dubious. Why waste a question on that?

by Anonymousreply 35February 20, 2020 3:03 AM

I’m a Bernie supporter but would be happy with Warren, Biden, and potentially Pete. Amy is a nut job and Bloomberg is a criminal

by Anonymousreply 36February 20, 2020 3:03 AM

My results after the debate:

1. Biden (even with the protestors)

2. Warren

3. Bernie

4. Amy/Pete

5. The guy from the ads I can't skip on YouTube

by Anonymousreply 37February 20, 2020 3:03 AM

Brian Williams just said everyone “savaged each other.” Who thought him that word?

by Anonymousreply 38February 20, 2020 3:04 AM

Pete's line of the night was "You don't have to be from Washington to matter."

by Anonymousreply 39February 20, 2020 3:04 AM

I love the look of WTF that Pete gave Amy when she said, "We can't all be as perfect as you, Pete!"

by Anonymousreply 40February 20, 2020 3:04 AM

Jesus Fucking Christ.

These are the people we have to choose from??

We are so fucked. 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄

We better win the fucking Senate.

by Anonymousreply 41February 20, 2020 3:04 AM

Is it like a Datalounge moment on the debate stage: Frau versus Gay?

by Anonymousreply 42February 20, 2020 3:04 AM

I give credit to the candidates who stuck around to work the room and shake hands with their opponents.

by Anonymousreply 43February 20, 2020 3:04 AM

r33 there's too many candidates still. Trump is by himself and using the power of his office to campaign. When the Democrats unite behind one candidate, they will focus on Trump. There's time left.

by Anonymousreply 44February 20, 2020 3:04 AM

Amy is a fighter. Love her.

by Anonymousreply 45February 20, 2020 3:04 AM
Why did the protesters wait until the final minutes of a 2-hour debate?

And why not at least try to chant in unison so we could at least make out the words?

by Anonymousreply 46February 20, 2020 3:04 AM

CNN saying Bloomberg was "tone deaf", a "disaster." "He let people down tonight."

by Anonymousreply 47February 20, 2020 3:05 AM

R35 so why waste a question on climate change then?

by Anonymousreply 48February 20, 2020 3:05 AM

Where’s Chasten?

by Anonymousreply 49February 20, 2020 3:05 AM

I want to confess something deep and dark right now. I do not know the name of the president of Mexico. Still.

by Anonymousreply 50February 20, 2020 3:05 AM

Just Plain Nuts.

by Anonymousreply 51February 20, 2020 3:05 AM

Eh, Bloomberg didn’t do well, but I never expected him to jump in and get dirty. He’s not a politician.

by Anonymousreply 52February 20, 2020 3:06 AM

And nobody cares r50!

by Anonymousreply 53February 20, 2020 3:06 AM

Awww, Bloomberg is still with his "companion," that tall handsome woman he was with as NYC mayor. Diana something?

by Anonymousreply 54February 20, 2020 3:06 AM

Van Jones reading Bloomberg's epitaph

And funny to see Yang as a commentater. He's found his calling. He is awesome

by Anonymousreply 55February 20, 2020 3:06 AM

Pete's my guy and will follow him all the way to the White House, but I get why Amy goes after him. He is her biggest threat. And we need to remember that for this crowd, 38 is a baby. 38 is when you run for the House, not the presidency. Amy thinks Pete should getting her coffee or writing her policy positions, not standing on that stage next to her.

by Anonymousreply 56February 20, 2020 3:06 AM

3M will make another contribution to Amy tomorrow for the Post Its comment.

by Anonymousreply 57February 20, 2020 3:07 AM

The dingdong hecklers were my favorite part.

And Liz Warren’s plaintive anecdotes of struggle. They wind up being funny.

by Anonymousreply 58February 20, 2020 3:07 AM

Or a debater r52

by Anonymousreply 59February 20, 2020 3:07 AM

Blomberg was a totally unprepared last minute substitute.

by Anonymousreply 60February 20, 2020 3:07 AM

I liked Warren a lot more before she started running for President. She has an almost manic energy I find off-putting. She'd be a great President. I would vote for her. But I don't like her.

by Anonymousreply 61February 20, 2020 3:07 AM

Claire McCaskill: They all won.

Everyone else: Bloomberg lost.

by Anonymousreply 62February 20, 2020 3:07 AM

Chris Cuomo making a good point-- Bloomberg not used to being attacked and like "WTF is this nasty dyke. Can't we fire her?"

And they all like Bernie

by Anonymousreply 63February 20, 2020 3:08 AM

People frustrated that the candidates didn't trash Trump tonight don't understand the point of a debate.

1. They all agree that Trump is awful. All of them. We all know that. There is nothing to debate since they all agree on this single issue.

2. There will be plenty of time to aim all of the fire at Trump after the nominee is selected.

by Anonymousreply 64February 20, 2020 3:08 AM

R59, true, true.

by Anonymousreply 65February 20, 2020 3:08 AM

as long as you vote for her r61, your work here is done

by Anonymousreply 66February 20, 2020 3:08 AM

Some lesbian who worked for Hillary pushing Warren on CNN

by Anonymousreply 67February 20, 2020 3:09 AM

Meow!

@CNNPolitics

Bernie Sanders and Michael Bloomberg got into a heated debate tonight over who owns the most homes and where #DemDebate

by Anonymousreply 68February 20, 2020 3:09 AM

3M will ban Amy from saying "Post It" out loud.

by Anonymousreply 69February 20, 2020 3:09 AM

HORSE-FACED LESBIANS OF COLOR

by Anonymousreply 70February 20, 2020 3:09 AM

also, how is the three term mayor of New York City not a politician?

by Anonymousreply 71February 20, 2020 3:09 AM

The children in cages thing was way more important than Amy not knowing the Mexican Presidents name.

They treated her like she stuck them in cages. Save it for Trump. Oh wait. He doesn't give a shit so you have no power. Attack the female because they're weak by caring. Makes sense.

by Anonymousreply 72February 20, 2020 3:10 AM

This could be a huge night for Biden

Lots of support was going to Bloomberg because of all the ads

And now they see that the ads are more impressive than the candidate

by Anonymousreply 73February 20, 2020 3:11 AM

Does senator warren still promote her policy of allowing ALL trannies into the country, no questions asked?

by Anonymousreply 74February 20, 2020 3:11 AM

r66 Exactly. I don't like Warren personally. I don't like Bernie. I don't much like any of them. But they aren't Donald Trump so I will work like hell to get the one nominated elected.

by Anonymousreply 75February 20, 2020 3:11 AM

No one knows who the current Mexican president is!

"Andrés Manuel López Obrador"

I mean, who the fuck can pronounce that?

by Anonymousreply 76February 20, 2020 3:11 AM

Amy is the reason America will never vote for a female president in this century. She perpetuates the stereotypes that women can’t control their emotions at work and don’t know how to behave professionally.

by Anonymousreply 77February 20, 2020 3:12 AM

Maybe they do not know the name of the president of Mexico because he’s very left wing. But they could’ve just called and president Andre and that would’ve sounded cool

by Anonymousreply 78February 20, 2020 3:12 AM

EXACTLY r72. Faux outrage by definition. They got the wrong one.

by Anonymousreply 79February 20, 2020 3:12 AM

The media erasing Pete from their post debate coverage. Of course. Just like they've done for the past 9 debates except the wine cave one where they predicted his campaign was over.

by Anonymousreply 80February 20, 2020 3:12 AM

The reviews for Biden are coming in very good. He might have stopped the hemorrhaging

by Anonymousreply 81February 20, 2020 3:12 AM

r77 you realize that there's 80 more years left in this century, right? God you're dumb.

by Anonymousreply 82February 20, 2020 3:13 AM

hmmm, maybe r81. He was not bad, but nobody who is not paid to say saw thinks he was the star tonight.

by Anonymousreply 83February 20, 2020 3:13 AM

Pete is drinking wine in his wine cave currently, and Chasten is giving him a shoulder massage (carefully photographed by the campaign photographer, of course).

by Anonymousreply 84February 20, 2020 3:13 AM

What was that Sanders/Biden moment post debate everybody’s talking about?

by Anonymousreply 85February 20, 2020 3:13 AM

That lesbian on CNN in the summer outfit with the 1993 hair is annoying AF

by Anonymousreply 86February 20, 2020 3:14 AM

Andrew Yang is now a commentator on CNN. Good for him.

by Anonymousreply 87February 20, 2020 3:14 AM

Andrés Manuel López Fitzgerald

by Anonymousreply 88February 20, 2020 3:14 AM

Amy is a petty cunt and that is NOT a good look in a president.

Pete did his job; he needed to take her down somewhat and he did so.

I still can't stand Bernie.

That's all I've got.

by Anonymousreply 89February 20, 2020 3:14 AM

R76 AMLO is how is called in Mexican media. No excuse not to know this.

by Anonymousreply 90February 20, 2020 3:14 AM

R82 Yes retard, I do know that. And I meant exactly what I said.

by Anonymousreply 91February 20, 2020 3:15 AM

Fuck MSNBC. They keep referring to Biden/Sanders conversation that was “quite striking”, but they won’t say why, or show it. Lazy fuckers.

They also missed that Amy walked off, too pissed to shake anyone’s hands. Plus, that she repeatedly got rattled.

by Anonymousreply 92February 20, 2020 3:15 AM

I think these debates are stupid. Most of us know they mean nothing.

by Anonymousreply 93February 20, 2020 3:15 AM

I like Yang, but snapping up the drop outs the second they lose the primary is just part of what makes cable so shitty and stupid. just spare us this nonsense, you whores.

by Anonymousreply 94February 20, 2020 3:15 AM

AMLO has been a thing in Mexican politics for many, many, many years

by Anonymousreply 95February 20, 2020 3:16 AM

R71, Donald Trump is not a politician, either, but he’s our president. And will be again.

Bloomberg is not a career politician. He’d never held a public office before his run for mayor. And until 14 weeks ago, he hadn’t since. He doesn’t have to go begging for money and owe people favors the way other professional politicians do.

by Anonymousreply 96February 20, 2020 3:16 AM

r91 Good! You can do math. You're still dumb.

by Anonymousreply 97February 20, 2020 3:16 AM

R93 who the fuck is "most of us"???

by Anonymousreply 98February 20, 2020 3:16 AM

Chris Cuomo just gave the Lesbian an awesome "Who The Fuck Is This Stupid Twat" look

by Anonymousreply 99February 20, 2020 3:16 AM

Pete didn't take Amy down, he just told us who she voted for, Trump judges and Trump's Homeland Secretary who put kids in cages.

by Anonymousreply 100February 20, 2020 3:16 AM

But what about the ALAMO r95? remember it?

by Anonymousreply 101February 20, 2020 3:17 AM

r96 he's still a politician.

by Anonymousreply 102February 20, 2020 3:17 AM

I just don't understand why NBC won't let Ali Velshi help moderate in their debates. He's the network's best explainer of economic/financial issues and would be such an asset in these situations. Certainly he would be better than Hallie Jackson.

by Anonymousreply 103February 20, 2020 3:17 AM

GOOD! Biden is doing his own after debate interviews. He should have been doing this from the beginning

by Anonymousreply 104February 20, 2020 3:17 AM

Can the candidates line up to slap the worthless Latina moderator afterwards?

by Anonymousreply 105February 20, 2020 3:17 AM
Colin Jost will NEVER do Pete justice this week. NEVER.

He won't need to. SNL is in reruns until Feb. 29.

by Anonymousreply 106February 20, 2020 3:17 AM

Where is Anderson Cooper?

by Anonymousreply 107February 20, 2020 3:17 AM

no, you are right, r96. He doesn't have to build coalitions or answer to anyone other than a lot of paid hacks and whores. I'm not sure that will actually work out for him. tonight, it looked like it won't.

by Anonymousreply 108February 20, 2020 3:17 AM

Well, that was ugly.

Mine concern with this slate - every single one of them - is that none of them have the same it factor as Trump does. "It" is what wins elections now. Trump had it over Hillary, Obama over Romney and McCain, Bush over Kerry and Gore, Clinton over... and the list goes on. I can't see any of these people upstaging Trump in a debate (if they actually happen). I think Kamala could have - she has the "it" factor. Too bad her run was a disaster. And even though I logically know that there is no way Trump picks up any more votes than he had in 2016 - NO FUCKING WAY - my gut tells me these people can't win.

Bloomberg really got gang raped tonight. I actually appreciated that he had granular level plans that the other candidates lacked. They went on in generalities about stuff, while he gave concrete examples about local bank branches, setting up businesses, and renewables, and so on. He certainly is way better spoken than his contemporaries Bernie and Biden. Too bad he comes off as such a douche. Oh well, just let him keep bashing Trump.

by Anonymousreply 109February 20, 2020 3:18 AM
I just don't understand why NBC won't let Ali Velshi

They already work him near to death.

by Anonymousreply 110February 20, 2020 3:18 AM

r90 He needs PR then.

by Anonymousreply 111February 20, 2020 3:18 AM
I just don't understand why NBC won't let Ali Velshi help moderate in their debates.

Probably because he is a Muslim, I think Ali is great too but that is probably the reason.

by Anonymousreply 112February 20, 2020 3:18 AM

damn, that is the real crime here r106.

by Anonymousreply 113February 20, 2020 3:19 AM

Ha ha Pete already fundraising off of the “We wish we could be as perfect as you, Pete” line

by Anonymousreply 114February 20, 2020 3:19 AM

Biden did decent tonight.

Amy was in meltdown mode tonight.

Warren may have saved herself.

Pete maintained.

Bernie was annoying as usual.

And Bloomberg is finished.

by Anonymousreply 115February 20, 2020 3:19 AM

Pete was great bringing up Amy's voting record. Her hypocrisy is astonishing.

by Anonymousreply 116February 20, 2020 3:19 AM

I hate that while we are doing this Trump is banking millions waiting for a full fledged tsunami of ads in the general. This is why the incumbent tends to win.

by Anonymousreply 117February 20, 2020 3:19 AM

r109 there's too many candidates now to see whether any of them have an "IT" factor.

by Anonymousreply 118February 20, 2020 3:19 AM

Am I wrong, or did the debate threads fill up a lot quicker tonight? I don't know, seriously, but it seems like they usually take longer.

by Anonymousreply 119February 20, 2020 3:19 AM

Amy gets too rattled to be President. Fatal fail.

Warren is back in the top tier.

Bloomberg underperforms. Needs to do better next time.

Bernie did a good job.

Pete shows no passion. He did ok.

Biden did better. Not better enough, though.

Winners: Warren, Sanders

Losers: Amy

by Anonymousreply 120February 20, 2020 3:19 AM

r117 he's been using the office of the Presidency to campaign for himself since he was elected. And spending taxpayer money doing it.

Yet over half the US thinks he sucks.

by Anonymousreply 121February 20, 2020 3:20 AM

What do we think of Gotham Steel pans?

Worth $20 for two of them?

by Anonymousreply 122February 20, 2020 3:21 AM
Pete shows no passion. He did ok.

He reminds me of Pres Obama in that regard, cool, calm and collected.

by Anonymousreply 123February 20, 2020 3:21 AM

R112: Ali Velshi is also a Canadian.

by Anonymousreply 124February 20, 2020 3:21 AM

Amy made a fool of herself by being so emotional about the Mexican president thing. I thought she might burst into tears. Then the pettiness by walking off the stage. Very childish.

by Anonymousreply 125February 20, 2020 3:22 AM

r119 quicker because there were some obvious paid shills posting repeated comments about Warren, trying to keep her down. Seriously, like just cut-and-paste lines that had virtually nothing to do with what she was actually saying at the time and recycled Republican talking points.

by Anonymousreply 126February 20, 2020 3:22 AM

r123 Pete's issue is that he comes across as smug.

by Anonymousreply 127February 20, 2020 3:22 AM
Biden did better. Not better enough, though.

I disagree. Granted, I really lean toward Biden but as I posted earlier, tonight is the first time that I actually heard Biden's policies explained in some detail with some depth.

by Anonymousreply 128February 20, 2020 3:22 AM

Does not yelling to cover up your flaws = no passion? If so, I'm ok with that

by Anonymousreply 129February 20, 2020 3:23 AM

CNN is shilling for Warren. But then again when aren't they?

by Anonymousreply 130February 20, 2020 3:23 AM
Where’s Chasten?

Moist, ready and staring at the headboard on his hands and knees.

Lucky Chasten!

by Anonymousreply 131February 20, 2020 3:23 AM

r122 they seem to be rated well but it seems more like PR.

by Anonymousreply 132February 20, 2020 3:23 AM

I don't know how this idea developed that any primary is terrifying and horrible and the only way to get through it is to never, ever, never criticize each other. It's okay. We will snipe and snark and bitch and moan and then we will wake up in a few months and look at Trump and realize, yeah, we hate that cunt! Stop panicking.

by Anonymousreply 133February 20, 2020 3:23 AM

I don’t think Pete comes office mug. I think he comes off as young

by Anonymousreply 134February 20, 2020 3:24 AM

r131 uh no, I'm thinking Chasten had the beef tacos tonight and is in NO CONDITION to be bent over anything.

by Anonymousreply 135February 20, 2020 3:24 AM

Agreed R127. Amy and Pete both looked childish

by Anonymousreply 136February 20, 2020 3:24 AM

What’s another 4 years anyway?

by Anonymousreply 137February 20, 2020 3:24 AM

Amy's up on MSNBC

by Anonymousreply 138February 20, 2020 3:24 AM

Crazy Amy on now

by Anonymousreply 139February 20, 2020 3:24 AM

R127, I think Obama did, too. Don’t get me wrong, I was happy to call him our President, but he did have that quality as the negative to his cool and collected demeanor.

I’d give anything to have him back. And I’d be okay with Pete at the helm.

by Anonymousreply 140February 20, 2020 3:25 AM
I don’t think Pete comes office mug.

Where can I get a Pete office mug?

by Anonymousreply 141February 20, 2020 3:25 AM

YIKES! Biden is bringing it home on MSNBC!

by Anonymousreply 142February 20, 2020 3:25 AM

Now I want the Pete Office Mug.

So I can throw upside some underling's head.

by Anonymousreply 143February 20, 2020 3:25 AM

Amy in control now.

by Anonymousreply 144February 20, 2020 3:25 AM

Big question with Warren is will the debate have any effect?

Are all her supporters already voting for Bernie?

Or can she pull voters from Amy because they want to vote for a woman?

by Anonymousreply 145February 20, 2020 3:25 AM

I'm excited for super Tuesday! My state went to Bernie in 2016, and it looks like he'll take it again.

by Anonymousreply 146February 20, 2020 3:25 AM

I do not think that Pete comes off as smug. I think he comes off as young. Sorry for the last disaster post.

by Anonymousreply 147February 20, 2020 3:25 AM

I found Pete sexy for the first time tonight. Not sure why.

I get Amy. She works hard and resents the cool kids.

Biden was ok... Too much Obama.

Warren was annoying AF. Her SJW stuff is tiresome. Everything has a SJW angle with her.

Bloomberg... I mean he was bad in giving the audience what it really wanted, but he was calm and kept quiet as much as possible. Not bad, if that's his strategy.

I just can't get into Bernie. He's so dogmatic and inflexible. And I fear his supporters.

by Anonymousreply 148February 20, 2020 3:25 AM
I don’t think Pete comes office mug.

Are you sure about that?

by Anonymousreply 149February 20, 2020 3:25 AM

r134 he clearly entered this campaign to raise his national profile for a run for higher office, and his campaign took off more than he expected. He definitely needs another 4-8 years of seasoning before he will be ready for President. I'll give him credit for actually running and holding an office, though, unlike Yang and Steyer.

by Anonymousreply 150February 20, 2020 3:26 AM

God, Amy is so fucking annoying reciting for the 1000th time her accomplishments.

Shut up you whiny bitch!

by Anonymousreply 151February 20, 2020 3:26 AM

Chris Matthews is eating Amy’s pussy on MSNBC right now

by Anonymousreply 152February 20, 2020 3:26 AM

Warren won, Bloomberg sucked r148. It's just math.

by Anonymousreply 153February 20, 2020 3:26 AM

Not all of CNN is shilling for Warren

Just Lesbian In White with 1990s Emo Girl hair

by Anonymousreply 154February 20, 2020 3:26 AM

Ahahahaha. I had to stop in at CNN to see the lesbian in summer-wear.

Whoever wrote that was right. I’m cracking up.

by Anonymousreply 155February 20, 2020 3:26 AM

Amy is good with hardball, sorry. She is.

by Anonymousreply 156February 20, 2020 3:27 AM

Amy going in on Pete in the MSNBC spin room. She’s being egged on by Chris Matthews.

Amy says that Pete has excellent talking points but that’s all that he has.

by Anonymousreply 157February 20, 2020 3:27 AM

Klobuchar is obviously still rattled while she is being interviewed by Chris Matthews

by Anonymousreply 158February 20, 2020 3:27 AM

Amy looked bad tonight - is this the first time she's been attacked directly? Did she lose her cool the last time?

by Anonymousreply 159February 20, 2020 3:27 AM

Chris Mathews is interviewing Amy and appears to be sympathizing with her and making it sound as if Pete went over the top in his going after her.

by Anonymousreply 160February 20, 2020 3:27 AM

It’s nearly impossible to envision this Democratic primary campaign unfolding in a way more beneficial to Donald Trump.

by Anonymousreply 161February 20, 2020 3:27 AM

R148, I completely agree with everything you said. I’m a woman but found Pete sexy, too.

by Anonymousreply 162February 20, 2020 3:27 AM

Amy’s right. Less fighting amongst the dems.

by Anonymousreply 163February 20, 2020 3:27 AM

r148, Bloomberg's calm and quiet translated into uninterested and disengaged. Not a good strategy.

by Anonymousreply 164February 20, 2020 3:28 AM

I think Pete showed he will nuke you if you attack him during a debate.

by Anonymousreply 165February 20, 2020 3:28 AM

Get your Pete coffee mug!

by Anonymousreply 166February 20, 2020 3:28 AM

oh shut the fuck up r161. Every Democratic primary was going to magically turn out great for Trump for people who are determined to love Trump. Just shut the fuck up, you whore.

by Anonymousreply 167February 20, 2020 3:28 AM

Interview with Pete coming up on MSNBC after the commercial.

by Anonymousreply 168February 20, 2020 3:29 AM

Amy can't get lost fast enough. Bye Bye, Bitch.

by Anonymousreply 169February 20, 2020 3:29 AM

r164 Bloomberg looked unprepared and angry. I'll bet he fires someone afterwards who he blames for his debate performance.

I can't believe Bloomberg didn't have answers to the really obvious attacks he was going to get. He seemed to be speaking off the cuff for most of them. Maybe he thought the other candidates wouldn't attack him?

by Anonymousreply 170February 20, 2020 3:29 AM

Warren is so annoying. How do people like her? It's always "Everyone here is forgetting how this impacts black and brown people." A scold.

Bernie is scary. His people are scary. Everything about him scares me.

Everyone else was mediocre to good. Bloomberg probably did as well as he could given his personality and past. He kind of kept his mouth shut.

by Anonymousreply 171February 20, 2020 3:30 AM

and interesting to hear Amy still struggling. She lost tonight, second only to Bloomberg. It's time for them to just drop out. Maybe Buttiegieg can give the malefactors of great wealth a lift still, but these two are done. Just stop already.

by Anonymousreply 172February 20, 2020 3:30 AM

Ragey Klobarbwire on CNN next.

I don't think Bloomberg was catastrophic listening to what he said. And he took the billionaire hate and ran with it and shut down CLIMATE CHANGE GLOBAL ANNIHILATION!!! WE MUST DESTROY CAPITALISM!!!! with a few classic NY one liners. But, his visual presence was catastrophic.

by Anonymousreply 175February 20, 2020 3:31 AM
Amy is the reason America will never vote for a female president in this century. She perpetuates the stereotypes that women can’t control their emotions at work and don’t know how to behave professionally.

Have you met Bernie Sanders? Grow up, sexist.

Speaking of Sanders, he's really looked unwell for the last few weeks.

I'll repeat...

Warren/Buttigieg 2020

by Anonymousreply 176February 20, 2020 3:31 AM

I'll give Chris Matthews this — he confronted Amy with the fact that her "Am I dumb?" response to Pete was "very personal" when Pete was questioning her professional performance.

by Anonymousreply 177February 20, 2020 3:31 AM

Pete needs to go back to Indiana and leave running for Prez to the grown ups.

by Anonymousreply 178February 20, 2020 3:32 AM

nah, he lost r175. He really did. Being rich doesn't actually mean you win everything. He lost this.

by Anonymousreply 179February 20, 2020 3:32 AM

I do think Warren's "I have a fucking plan for everything" and constant hand waving and "this plan will work because I have another plan to get money from Congress thanks to my third plan to brainswash the Republicans" crap is going to turn off a whole lot of people.

Bernie's answer about his lake house was bullshit.

by Anonymousreply 180February 20, 2020 3:32 AM

R171: I like Warren because she talks substance. She’s smart. She’s not afraid to confront the person standing 5’ from her. That’s how.

by Anonymousreply 181February 20, 2020 3:32 AM

Anyone else go back to tonight's closed debate threads to read what else was posted, or is it just me and my need for closure?

by Anonymousreply 182February 20, 2020 3:32 AM

The lesbian on CNN makes my hate of Warren grow deeper. And I was actually cheering for Warren at the beginning of the debate.

by Anonymousreply 183February 20, 2020 3:32 AM

Do we think anyone believed Bernie when he said that the nasty BernieBros were all just Russian trolls and how could his supporters possibly be anti-union?

by Anonymousreply 184February 20, 2020 3:32 AM

r159, not to the extent that she did tonight.

by Anonymousreply 185February 20, 2020 3:33 AM

r180 when you try to frame your personal dislike of a candidate as "will turn off a lot of people" you've already lost the argument.

by Anonymousreply 186February 20, 2020 3:33 AM

Those people who already voted for Bloomberg are hating life tonight

Will AAs in South Carolina continue to support Bloomberg after tonight?

by Anonymousreply 187February 20, 2020 3:33 AM

Joe Biden won tonight, period. He does have temperament to be a president

by Anonymousreply 188February 20, 2020 3:33 AM

why yes r180, how can anyone have plans? How can a presidential candidate actually have some idea what they are talking about? Isn't it all just about some asshole saying MAGA? Anything else will upset America. Won't it?

by Anonymousreply 189February 20, 2020 3:34 AM

If you drew a Venn diagram of "DLers who love Hillary" and "DLers who love Warren" you would basically have two overlapping circles.

by Anonymousreply 190February 20, 2020 3:34 AM

I'd fall outside that circle.

by Anonymousreply 198February 20, 2020 3:36 AM

Amy probably thought she was "down with the gays" before.

by Anonymousreply 199February 20, 2020 3:36 AM

Her plans are like a house of cards R189--none are workable, they only work if all of them are passed and have far too many holes in them.

Meaning nobody knows what she stands for except "Plans"

Like Hillary stood for "it's on my website"

by Anonymousreply 200February 20, 2020 3:36 AM

r182 the American voters who live with me didn't want to watch the debate, only for me to tell them the good lines from DL's Nevada debate threads.

by Anonymousreply 203February 20, 2020 3:37 AM

the whores and grifters had a bad night. The people that actually care about this country had a good night. Good for democracy.

by Anonymousreply 204February 20, 2020 3:37 AM

Pete needs to stop saying Bernie mixed it up with the culinary Union. His psycho fans got into it with the leaders. The members of the union overwhelmingly support Bernie. These people are just letting Bernie run away with it all.

by Anonymousreply 205February 20, 2020 3:37 AM

Ragey not happy with Warren.

by Anonymousreply 206February 20, 2020 3:37 AM

Pete uses way too many words, and digresses and elaborates and goes into categories and sub categories for each bullet point. It’s so exhausting. Just make you point. Don’t speak in paragraphs. Nobody listens after the first few words.

by Anonymousreply 207February 20, 2020 3:37 AM

I didn't hear much about fostering an environment of opportunities for Americans, tonight. Nothing inspiring. There is much to complain about, but two hours of talking about what is wrong with America doesn't inspire hope in many voters. Obama was good at capitalizing on that emotion and that is a critical factor in winning.

by Anonymousreply 208February 20, 2020 3:37 AM

r200 you are so full of shit. Repeating talking points doesn't make them true, sorry.

by Anonymousreply 209February 20, 2020 3:38 AM

Bloomberg was strategic in a very East Asian way. If you're unaccustomed to the battlefield, you let your opponents squabble among themselves, knowing that you can wear them down on another field (in his case, mass media). He has "gaman."

But he's on American TV. Everyone will say he lost because he didn't talk enough. Americans don't generally have or admire gaman.

I did like his asking everyone if they've built a business. The silence was amusing.

by Anonymousreply 210February 20, 2020 3:38 AM

I'm pretty sure Amy got the runs and had to get to the bathroom quick. She was very high-strung tonight. Scary.

by Anonymousreply 211February 20, 2020 3:38 AM

WHY IS AMY VOTING FOR 1/3 of PLUMP’s JUDGES??????

UNFORGIVABLE!!!!

by Anonymousreply 212February 20, 2020 3:38 AM

r208 the people the Democratic candidates are trying to appeal to currently are primary voters, who are very political. They are not trying to appeal to Joe Six-Pack and the Bunion Twins. That will come once the party solidifies behind a candidate.

by Anonymousreply 213February 20, 2020 3:39 AM

Amy has one serious HATE ON for Pete.

by Anonymousreply 214February 20, 2020 3:39 AM

by Anonymousreply 221February 20, 2020 3:40 AM

r210 it had nothing to do with him not talking enough, it had to do with his weasely and ill-planned responses to obvious direct attacks on him by the other candidates. He hurt himself by not having planned out some counters to those.

by Anonymousreply 222February 20, 2020 3:40 AM

Also too many morons.

by Anonymousreply 223February 20, 2020 3:40 AM

by Anonymousreply 224February 20, 2020 3:41 AM

Nichole sticking up for Pete.

by Anonymousreply 225February 20, 2020 3:42 AM

this is actually a problem. So many people are so fucking stupid that we are generally forced to put up with stupid plans to solve stupid problems. Hope Liz can overcome, but stupid is a difficult thing to overcome.

by Anonymousreply 226February 20, 2020 3:42 AM
Amy thinks Pete should getting her coffee or writing her policy positions, not standing on that stage next to her.

This is why it's puzzling to me why he doesnt have more traction with younger people. Amy is the embodiment of entitled boomer, who thinks that just because they have been doing something for 100 years means they are being effective.

by Anonymousreply 227February 20, 2020 3:42 AM

by Anonymousreply 241February 20, 2020 3:47 AM

Ragey and Pete nad to attack each other. With the numbers as they are, one needs to knock out the other. Somebody has to be an alternative to Bloomberg before they can be an alternative to Bernie.

Let me be clear, I am mixed about Bloomberg and think he had an awful night. But as they hammered on CNN tonight, he has the money to transcend crap nights like tonight and while it was an awful night for him... it isn't over for him, either.

by Anonymousreply 242February 20, 2020 3:47 AM

by Anonymousreply 247February 20, 2020 3:49 AM

R32, she looks Swedish to me. My grandmother was supposedly half Native (New England) and she looked it. But no one believed that a platinum blonde with blue eyes (me) is part Native, ever. People scoff when someone tries to claim that heritage.

by Anonymousreply 248February 20, 2020 3:50 AM

r247, you're a whore darling.

by Anonymousreply 249February 20, 2020 3:50 AM

The conventional take is that this was a disaster for Bloomberg. I'm not so sure. If you really listened to him, he was very grounded in a way that I think might appeal to a type of older voter: not a retired schoolteacher type (Warren), but maybe a man who worked in an office in the 80s and doesn't like politics.

Of course that type probably won't be voting in the primaries.

But there's $61.8 billion with which to craft direct messaging to all sorts of people.

by Anonymousreply 250February 20, 2020 3:50 AM

r245 Yang would definitely know about being overconfident.

by Anonymousreply 251February 20, 2020 3:51 AM

This really isn't debating, but is this really the best way to judge who would be a good President? What part of a President's job involves debating. I would actually prefer town halls instead of debates.

by Anonymousreply 252February 20, 2020 3:51 AM

r248 it's just some troll trying a different tactic other than calling her "Pocahontas".

by Anonymousreply 255February 20, 2020 3:52 AM

by Anonymousreply 257February 20, 2020 3:52 AM

R250: Bloomberg recovered slightly near the end, but was so devastated early on that it didn't matter much.

by Anonymousreply 258February 20, 2020 3:53 AM

Which is why there have been multiple town halls but nobody talks about them because they don’t satisfy Americans infantile, need for competition.

by Anonymousreply 259February 20, 2020 3:53 AM

R250, I agree. He appeals to me because he’s all about the data and facts and doesn’t pull emotional crap.

His mistake was getting mired in Warren’s trap. He should have shut that down immediately by saying he couldn’t release anyone from an agreement he wasn’t party to. My tenth grader pointed that out.

by Anonymousreply 260February 20, 2020 3:54 AM

Bernie... I mean why does the working class feature so big in his plans? It's unappealing. I don't want the working class mobilized. It'll bring chaos: it'll be like the 1970s again.

He's so set in his ways. I don't want to give up my private insurance. I don't want capital gains tax to increase.

by Anonymousreply 261February 20, 2020 3:54 AM

by Anonymousreply 265February 20, 2020 3:55 AM

a crime, no, not at all r273. In this country it is more like a halo.

by Anonymousreply 276February 20, 2020 4:00 AM

Democratic candidates down ballot from the Presidency are scared to death of having Sanders at the top of the ticket and they are right, it would be a blood bath with Bernie at the top of the ticket. Bernie supporters love him but most of the country doesn't and Independents won't be voting for a person who labels them self as a Democratic-Socialist.

by Anonymousreply 277February 20, 2020 4:01 AM

R266 can you explain how an individual can dissolve an agreement in which he is not a party?

Can the CEO of the bank dissolve my mortgage by uttering the words on a stage? That would be kinda cool.

My tenth grader exists. I pay her tuition with the money Mike pays me to post here when I’m not shilling for the Russians, too, eh?

by Anonymousreply 278February 20, 2020 4:01 AM

by Anonymousreply 279February 20, 2020 4:01 AM

Oh good, Joy Reid and her tragic weave has shown up to bash Pete in short order.

by Anonymousreply 285February 20, 2020 4:04 AM

Look up plebeians and patricians r281 and you will get some idea what is happening here in Rome.

by Anonymousreply 286February 20, 2020 4:04 AM

I cannot bear Warren because she's so damned smug. She's the Democrat I won't vote for.

by Anonymousreply 287February 20, 2020 4:05 AM

R279, ask any straight, kind of middle-of-the-road suburban guy if he likes Warren. She's annoying to them. Very annoying.

by Anonymousreply 288February 20, 2020 4:05 AM

Links r284?

by Anonymousreply 289February 20, 2020 4:05 AM

If Amy becomes that unhinged at being questioned by Pete, how would she react to Trump lying, insulting, and interrupting?

by Anonymousreply 290February 20, 2020 4:05 AM

I do love that the whores and grifters are actually getting worried. The old rules are starting to crumble. There is actually the possibility that we can't just always give to the Rich. There are actually other possibilities happening here.

by Anonymousreply 291February 20, 2020 4:06 AM

I think it’s fine that Bernie is obsessed with the working class, but blaming billionaires as if they’ve done something wrong is Trumpian in it’s appeal to the ugly, unthinking side of the populous.

by Anonymousreply 292February 20, 2020 4:06 AM

Amy's delivery is so clunky Trump would make HDR look rattled whether she was or she wasn't.

by Anonymousreply 293February 20, 2020 4:07 AM

yeah, totally Trumpian boris. Yup, questioning the rich is just like encouraging neo Nazis. Yup. You got it, bitch.

by Anonymousreply 294February 20, 2020 4:07 AM

That fat homophobic pig Joy Reid is still allowed on air?

by Anonymousreply 295February 20, 2020 4:08 AM

Bernie's going to raise taxes on those making under $2 million. Why not go after the really rich?

The meanest posters here, surprise - who's their candidate?

by Anonymousreply 296February 20, 2020 4:08 AM

^^Berniebro going easy on me.

by Anonymousreply 297February 20, 2020 4:09 AM

I have to admit I did not expect the whores and grifters to fall into such a panic. It's okay whores, you will actually be fine. congress will not actually confiscate all your wealth. You might just need to pay a little more in taxes, though. Try to deal with the trauma.

by Anonymousreply 298February 20, 2020 4:09 AM

Yeah- sorry but that bitch from Telemundo was terrible. And why the fuck is she there? It's the most pandering positioning I've ever seen. A sexy Latina with a thick accent targets one of the nominees for not knowing offhand who the president of Mexico is.

Disgusting and repetitive.

by Anonymousreply 299February 20, 2020 4:09 AM

It’s not hard math. Your taxes will go up a bit. The money you spend on insurance will go to zero. You’re going to SAVE money despite the tax increase.

by Anonymousreply 300February 20, 2020 4:10 AM

Joy Reid and her fat neck rolls are on duty.

by Anonymousreply 301February 20, 2020 4:10 AM

don't worry r299 the grifters know what you mean, don't you worry, they get it.

by Anonymousreply 302February 20, 2020 4:11 AM

Pete must have been pretty effective if Joy Reid made a point of ignoring him this time.

by Anonymousreply 303February 20, 2020 4:11 AM

Pete must have been pretty effective if Joy Reid made a point of ignoring him this time.

by Anonymousreply 304February 20, 2020 4:11 AM

Will there at least be premium private insurance and hospitals, like in the UK?

How much will doctors make under Bernie's plan? My Canadian friend tells me that MDs in Canada make under $100,000. I was shocked.

by Anonymousreply 305February 20, 2020 4:12 AM
Can someone explain how Amy K got all those newspaper endorsements?

America at large does not believe Warren and Sanders can actually deliver what they are promising. Amy is probably the only candidate who could actually deliver what she's promising. Unfortunately she is not a charismatic candidate, which Democrats love.

by Anonymousreply 306February 20, 2020 4:12 AM

Joy Reid is disgusting

by Anonymousreply 307February 20, 2020 4:12 AM
Pete uses way too many words, and digresses and elaborates and goes into categories

He’s that kid who’s on the honor roll and running for Class President and Student Council.

by Anonymousreply 308February 20, 2020 4:13 AM

R300 - it's not just the money on the insurance. It's the minimums, out of pocket and then the disastrous mega-bills for any serious operation.

The latter bankrupts the most people in the US.

by Anonymousreply 309February 20, 2020 4:13 AM

I thought Bloomberg was good. I didn't know what to expect. He was kind of rusty, but got into the groove and proved himself adept and throwing shit right back at others. If you can't get rude and sassy- you can't beat Trump.

Haven't all rich people been sued for everything? Haven't we all said naughty things that come back to haunt us? Giving Trump a pass for all his boorish behavior and holding Democrats to a purity test isn't fair.

by Anonymousreply 310February 20, 2020 4:13 AM

Well Liz definitely won so. No question.

Night everybody!

by Anonymousreply 311February 20, 2020 4:13 AM

the idea that billionaires are the real victims here, or anywhere. Yup, that is the problem, always. Always. Who will save the billionaires from ... well, nothing actually, but dammit, they might be sad for five seconds. Why???

by Anonymousreply 312February 20, 2020 4:14 AM

r305, don't worry about it. Bernie's M4A will never pass.

by Anonymousreply 313February 20, 2020 4:14 AM

Bloomberg needs to give 1 billion dollars to democrat senate candidates.

by Anonymousreply 314February 20, 2020 4:15 AM

And why is Bernie making college free? A big point of going to Yale etc. is that there's a certain type that makes up the plurality: those who can pay in cash. They're different: they went to better schools.

It's like he's trying to ... flatten our system.

by Anonymousreply 315February 20, 2020 4:16 AM

WARREN 2020

by Anonymousreply 316February 20, 2020 4:16 AM

Please God let Liz come back. She is my ideal candidate. And Republican women like my 85 year old mother would vote for her - but not Sanders who has too much Socialist baggage. Liz has all the best elements of Bernies ideas - but is less easily tarred and feathered and dismissed as a “socialist” .

by Anonymousreply 317February 20, 2020 4:16 AM

Thank god Warren won tonight and will be president within a year. America is saved. Good.

by Anonymousreply 318February 20, 2020 4:17 AM

What more do people want from sanders? Are you all doctors who can read ekg results and mri images?

by Anonymousreply 319February 20, 2020 4:17 AM

Bernie is a Communist.

by Anonymousreply 320February 20, 2020 4:17 AM

You know, not only billionaires are going to be targeted by Bernie. He had it in for the upper-middle class, too.

If you make, say, about $500,000, you're going to end up paying more than 50% in taxes.

by Anonymousreply 321February 20, 2020 4:18 AM

and when we start taxing the rich, finally, this country will start getting better. It's only a year away. good.

by Anonymousreply 322February 20, 2020 4:18 AM

How many days are left until the final candidate is chosen?

by Anonymousreply 323February 20, 2020 4:19 AM

Twitter is lapping up Warren's performance of course - and yes she was a firecracker tonight. I appreciated her kneecapping Bloomberg a few times, but the constant interjecting, yelling, diabetes sob story, 2% wealth tax talk again.... it's just I really do not know how well that all translated outside the super woke Twitter bubble.

by Anonymousreply 324February 20, 2020 4:19 AM

Warren won't be president. You're kidding yourselves.

by Anonymousreply 325February 20, 2020 4:20 AM

I love that people think $500,000 in income, not just wealth, but income, isn't rich. The rich, aside from everything else, are profoundly stupid about what actually rich means.

by Anonymousreply 326February 20, 2020 4:20 AM
R321: the idea that billionaires are the real victims here, or anywhere. Yup, that is the problem, always. Always. Who will save the billionaires from ... well, nothing actually, but dammit, they might be sad for five seconds. Why???

You apparently can’t support whatever shit you were selling, so you have to pretend that someone is proposing something that no one has said, that billionaires are victims. Face it, your argument is bankrupt.

by Anonymousreply 327February 20, 2020 4:20 AM
If you make, say, about $500,000, you're going to end up paying more than 50% in taxes.

Ordinary Americans do not give a shit about people making 500k paying more taxes. Most Americans will never make that much money a year.

by Anonymousreply 328February 20, 2020 4:21 AM

When Warren is sworn in, she will finally start to restore this country to what it really was always supposed to mean. Not just a tiny handful of rich assholes, but a lot of okay, middle class people who have a house and a job and a few opportunities. It will be pleasant.

by Anonymousreply 329February 20, 2020 4:21 AM
How many days are left until the final candidate is chosen?

Months? We aren't anywhere close yet!

by Anonymousreply 330February 20, 2020 4:23 AM

I can't tell if the"Warren won" people are kidding.

Straight men not on left Twitter won't vote for someone like her.

by Anonymousreply 331February 20, 2020 4:23 AM

Biden would be the best bet, even at his advanced age. Once he got off the brutal campaign trail and into the White House he could really lead. But he's overwhelmed at these WWF-fight debates.

by Anonymousreply 332February 20, 2020 4:24 AM

sure they will r331. They don't all worship the rich. Plenty of men, as well as women, are fine with somebody who works for most people and not just a few rich assholes. Aren't you?

by Anonymousreply 333February 20, 2020 4:25 AM

Conventional wisdom had Warren practically dead before tonight's debate.

Let's just wait a bit longer before we start picking out her inargural gown.

by Anonymousreply 334February 20, 2020 4:25 AM

I want to know what Warren’s plan is to prevent “white flight” from the US to tax havens. It’s a fair question and sad need to have a plan for that before she can implement so of her ideas. Same for any of them. It’s a global world now. People can live anywhere and do business in the US.

by Anonymousreply 335February 20, 2020 4:25 AM

Biden can only lead a conga line -- oh wait, he wouldn't get his hands on someone if he lead the dance

by Anonymousreply 336February 20, 2020 4:25 AM

So Warren has to overcome Bloomberg, Biden, Pete AND Bernie AND Trump.

Big job.

by Anonymousreply 337February 20, 2020 4:26 AM

It was kind of amazing. I admit I counted Warren out a week ago, but damn, she just came back swinging. Sometimes, THAT is what really makes the difference. Not giving up.

by Anonymousreply 338February 20, 2020 4:26 AM

This was fun. G'night, y'all.

by Anonymousreply 339February 20, 2020 4:27 AM

R333, you're out-of-touch. If she were a man who wasn't so annoying, but had the same policies, sure. But not her as she is.

People don't know this country's plurality. Still.

by Anonymousreply 340February 20, 2020 4:27 AM
Ali Velshi is also a Canadian

Yeah, R124, so was Peter Jennings...who moderated a Presidential debate in 1992--eleven years before he became a dual citizen.

by Anonymousreply 341February 20, 2020 4:27 AM

You think white people are fleeing the US, r335. Are you the stupidest neoNazi on these internets or just a dumb cunt? What is your deal?

by Anonymousreply 342February 20, 2020 4:28 AM

No one is voting for Warren, she has already tanked. So sick of her talk of "brown and black babies". Think of the babies! THE BABIES!!

by Anonymousreply 343February 20, 2020 4:28 AM

Warren did great. Every noncunt knows it. Every one.

by Anonymousreply 344February 20, 2020 4:29 AM

Joe Biden does have the experience, the skills and temperament to be a president. I will vote for him

by Anonymousreply 345February 20, 2020 4:30 AM

Maggie Haberman wrote: l

"Bloomberg has to do this again next week in South Carolina.

"Unless someone goes on the air against him with paid media, I’m not sure it matters."

What does that mean?

by Anonymousreply 346February 20, 2020 4:31 AM

R342, I used the term “white flight” as a metaphor. You can look up metaphor in the dictionary. I do think that very wealthy people may flee the US for tax havens. They’re already doing that, despite taxes being at record lows.

by Anonymousreply 347February 20, 2020 4:31 AM

I love the idea of every whore and grifter lying awake at night thinking the average American is terribly worried that the rich are overtaxed. They are so fucking stupid, but they really think that.

by Anonymousreply 348February 20, 2020 4:31 AM

This republican blonde dyke with the man voice on MSNBC is horrible

by Anonymousreply 349February 20, 2020 4:33 AM

r343 clearly does not care about brown or black babies.

by Anonymousreply 350February 20, 2020 4:33 AM

you used a stupid term for a stupid idea r347. Were you homeschooled? Were your parents stupid? How else did you get so stupid? What happened to you?

by Anonymousreply 351February 20, 2020 4:33 AM

I hate the way people refer to “paid media”, as if some candidates are having their commercials play for free.

by Anonymousreply 352February 20, 2020 4:33 AM

Plouffe pings loud to me.

by Anonymousreply 353February 20, 2020 4:34 AM

LMAO r349, that's A B Stoddard!

by Anonymousreply 354February 20, 2020 4:35 AM

Plouffe gets more beautiful with each passing year. Those eyes look surreal.

by Anonymousreply 355February 20, 2020 4:35 AM

It's nice that Warren won this debate. There is still a long way to go, but this is a start.

by Anonymousreply 356February 20, 2020 4:36 AM

Plouffe is 52,, and starting to look it.

by Anonymousreply 357February 20, 2020 4:36 AM

R351, reread what you wrote in the morning when you’re sober. You’re being a prickly pear.

by Anonymousreply 358February 20, 2020 4:37 AM

Oh hell, here is a song that even the goobers who are wrong about everything might like, because I am like this, I actually like even my enemies:

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 359February 20, 2020 4:38 AM

Yeah R351, so’s your motha!

by Anonymousreply 360February 20, 2020 4:38 AM

It's kind of pathetic when academic Harvard super pundit Joy Reid has to throw in her black credentials with things like hip hop and African-American cadence to her speech on purpose.

by Anonymousreply 361February 20, 2020 4:40 AM

Nobody is brave enough to tell the truth. If we want to continue to have the country that we currently have, EVERYBODY will need to cough up more in taxes. Dramatically more. And that's not even including improving anything. There's really no way around it.

by Anonymousreply 362February 20, 2020 4:41 AM

Is it possible that that cadence is Joy’s normal way of speaking, and the rest is artifice? I always get confused by British, Aussie, or Kiwi actors that I get to know when seeing them playing American characters, and later hear them speaking in their native cadence.

by Anonymousreply 363February 20, 2020 4:43 AM
no, she didn't win if you're just a working guy. She was crazy annoying. I had teachers like her: didn't like them.

Unless you're a sexist she won this debate.

Biden was barely present and when he was he mostly talked about the past.

Sanders held steady but people really did come for him.

Pete and Amy got caught up in some weird tango that wasn't helpful for either of them.

Bloomberg was eaten for breakfast and Warren took the biggest portion.

Warren woke up like Amy did a few debates ago. If she can get 2nd she's still in it.
No one is voting for Warren, she has already tanked. So sick of her talk of "brown and black babies". Think of the babies! THE BABIES!!

Because she actually understands that you need votes from every group - especially the black and latin votes. (Something that Amy and Pete have a problem getting.)

by Anonymousreply 364February 20, 2020 4:44 AM

r363, thank you Walter Mondale.

by Anonymousreply 365February 20, 2020 4:44 AM

R362 Once again, a Republican administration produces a financial mess and a Democrat needs to clean it up. How many times have we done this?

by Anonymousreply 366February 20, 2020 4:45 AM

None of the MSNBC pundits have mentioned Amy falling apart on stage, a couple times. Plus snubbing everyone else.

by Anonymousreply 367February 20, 2020 4:45 AM

I watched the debate tonight after voting this afternoon in early voting here in Texas. Voted for an openly gay man running for president for the first time in my life and not regretting that vote at all.

by Anonymousreply 368February 20, 2020 4:46 AM

TAX the fucking rich, it is not a tragedy if the rich are taxed. Jesus Fuck it is not a tragedy. Just tax the fuckers. For fucks sake.

by Anonymousreply 369February 20, 2020 4:46 AM

Make that r362 in my post above.

by Anonymousreply 370February 20, 2020 4:47 AM

Kornacki seems like a good bottom. I want him.

by Anonymousreply 371February 20, 2020 4:50 AM

Oh, yes, I remember President Mondale.

by Anonymousreply 372February 20, 2020 4:50 AM

Vote for Biden or Pete

by Anonymousreply 373February 20, 2020 4:51 AM

yup and I remember Presidents McCain and Romney.

We seriously want to play this game?

by Anonymousreply 374February 20, 2020 4:52 AM

If that bitch hadn't been #LatinoMexicanoHispanic no one would have given a freak about El Presidénte's name.

by Anonymousreply 375February 20, 2020 4:52 AM

Oh and also Presidents Gore and Kerry. Maybe safe isn't always safe. do we all get this?

by Anonymousreply 376February 20, 2020 4:53 AM

I thought El Chapo was still running the country.

by Anonymousreply 377February 20, 2020 4:54 AM

Bernie as nominee = McGovern in 1972

by Anonymousreply 378February 20, 2020 4:54 AM

or LBJ r378. Maybe nobody knows quite what happens, it's kinda like 2016

by Anonymousreply 379February 20, 2020 4:55 AM

I do think Warren is a safer bet, actually, but who actually knows? Really. do you?

by Anonymousreply 380February 20, 2020 4:56 AM

A Democratic landslide with Bernie r379??? LMAO! not happening.

by Anonymousreply 381February 20, 2020 4:56 AM

Bernie’s Medicare for all, or else, plan is stupid. Pete’s plan is smarter and employers will migrate to the government plan over time.

by Anonymousreply 382February 20, 2020 4:57 AM

You have no idea r381. None whatsoever. You know that, right? You don't know what the hell is happening in this country.

by Anonymousreply 383February 20, 2020 4:57 AM

I mean seriously since 2016 does anybody need to be reminded, this country is seriously up in the air, tempermental, not so sure? You need to be reminded of that? You don't get that? You are not so sure? Seriously?

by Anonymousreply 384February 20, 2020 5:00 AM

Maybe not r383, but i do know this: no far left liberal or progressive has ever won the presidency (FDR doesn't count because he didn't campaign as a liberal).

That doesn't bode well for Bernie.

by Anonymousreply 385February 20, 2020 5:01 AM

This “whores and grifters” poster is like a goddamned gnat buzzing around.

by Anonymousreply 386February 20, 2020 5:02 AM

Was Bernie really as bright red as he appeared on my TV screen?

by Anonymousreply 387February 20, 2020 5:02 AM

It’s crazy to me that everyone is comparing the cost of Dem programs, Trump have $200 billion/year to corporations with his tax cut. Why is that not even mentioned - even by Dems? His tax cuts for corporations was more expensive than almost any Dem plan for any social program. No one is talking about it, Like everyone just forgot that he gave away over a trillion dollars - it’s insane.

by Anonymousreply 388February 20, 2020 5:03 AM

You have no fucking clue r385. Seriously, none. LBJ was the leftist candidate. This country is up for grabs right now. Nobody, seriously, nobody knows what the fuck they are talking about this year. Nobody.

by Anonymousreply 389February 20, 2020 5:03 AM

r387, if Bernie was any redder he would be a Communist.

by Anonymousreply 390February 20, 2020 5:03 AM

The thing about gnats r386, you whore for the rich, is that sometimes gnats are trying to tell you something real.

by Anonymousreply 391February 20, 2020 5:04 AM

I meant Bernie's face not his political views!

by Anonymousreply 392February 20, 2020 5:05 AM

and now because I actually do like everyone on this thread, despite their being wrong about pretty much everything, I give you this song. which is lovely.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 393February 20, 2020 5:07 AM

I noticed Bernie's color change right around the time people here started commenting on it. He wasn't red yet, he just didn't look good. The color wasn't red, nor pink, but sort of baloney-colored. It wasn't a normal color.

He started turning red a few minutes later.

by Anonymousreply 394February 20, 2020 5:07 AM

Even if Bloomberg has over 60 billion, isn't spending $419 million on advertising INSANE? And its only February and not even a frontrunner yet.

by Anonymousreply 395February 20, 2020 5:08 AM

If this is just a thread full of Wall Streeters and whores and grifters, somebody get a hold of old histories of the French Revolution and ask yourselves, how can we stop this shit? Why do we all keep heading down this old road? Why can't we stop being assholes?

by Anonymousreply 396February 20, 2020 5:10 AM

And I hate that I used their when I meant they're. dammit.

by Anonymousreply 397February 20, 2020 5:12 AM
or LBJ [R378]. Maybe nobody knows quite what happens, it's kinda like 2016

Wow, R39, you must be very young. Do you know nothing at all about LBJ? He was a BEAST in the Senate, making deals and all manner of strategic alliances to get Democratic policies passed into law. And did the same as President.

People rightly talk about Pelosi's wrangling abilities in the House, but LBJ makes her look like Eric Cantor.

Bernie Sanders is no LBJ. He simply doesn't play well with others; he's in his upper seventies--do you really believe he can change once he's POTUS?

by Anonymousreply 398February 20, 2020 5:13 AM

I just can't imagine Sanders as president. He's not "presidential" and I hate the constant yelling and pointing and fake outrage.

by Anonymousreply 399February 20, 2020 5:16 AM
This “whores and grifters” poster is like a goddamned gnat buzzing around.

I have no idea what this term even means. Why is it used repeatedly?

by Anonymousreply 400February 20, 2020 5:16 AM

R369? I think I love you.

by Anonymousreply 401February 20, 2020 5:17 AM

you do r400, deep down, you do.

by Anonymousreply 402February 20, 2020 5:17 AM

What is LBJ? I know it’s peanut butter and jelly but what is the L.

by Anonymousreply 403February 20, 2020 5:18 AM

I brought up the red face because it seems to play perfectly into the hands of doubts that he will make it through a first-term, if until inauguration day at that.

by Anonymousreply 404February 20, 2020 5:18 AM

Somebody posting here is one messy-ass drunk.

by Anonymousreply 405February 20, 2020 5:18 AM

LBJ took the IRT...

by Anonymousreply 406February 20, 2020 5:19 AM

Liverworst Rose r403

by Anonymousreply 407February 20, 2020 5:19 AM

Dear R403:

Are you A) foreign, B) one of the poorly educated, or C) having us on?

by Anonymousreply 408February 20, 2020 5:20 AM

Amy: His name is Lopez. Obra. Dor.

by Anonymousreply 409February 20, 2020 5:20 AM

I love how people freak the fuck out at the slightest idea that the rich pay taxes. What kind of cunts are you that you freak the fuck out at that? what are you afraid of?

by Anonymousreply 410February 20, 2020 5:21 AM

R409 you forgot D) Feigning youth.

by Anonymousreply 411February 20, 2020 5:21 AM

Mr. Owl, how many houses dose a millionaire Socialist have? Let's see, one, tow, three. Everyone has a "cabin" 3rd house in Vermont. LOL

by Anonymousreply 412February 20, 2020 5:22 AM

R408, not 409.

by Anonymousreply 413February 20, 2020 5:23 AM

I wonder what happens if Amy tanks so badly after tonight that she ends up being viable in a caucus from early votes, but no live person on Saturday wants to be a delegate for her?

by Anonymousreply 414February 20, 2020 5:23 AM

When they asked Pete why he was such a fan for Bernie when he was young, but changed now, I would have said: Because I grew up! I know the difference between fairy tails and reality and I want things to change in this world not a fantasy world.

by Anonymousreply 415February 20, 2020 5:28 AM

Elizabeth Warren won. Doesn't mean she will win the election, but tonight, come on, she won this debate. Bitches can pretend, but seriously, no contest.

by Anonymousreply 416February 20, 2020 5:31 AM

She's off of life support, and back in intensive care with guarded prognosis.

by Anonymousreply 417February 20, 2020 5:34 AM

Bloomberg spent so much money on ads, but did not find a decent person to prepare him properly for this debate? He's complaining on Twitter now about the mean politicians going after him at the debate.

by Anonymousreply 418February 20, 2020 5:35 AM

I appreciated that Bloomberg didn’t kowtow to the other candidates‘ demands. The NDA attack is crap. He employees 20K plus people and has a relatively low rate of harassment claims for his business, yet Amy throws a stapler and forces a staffer to clean a comb and she’s part of the moral authority. It’s bullshit. I’ll take Bloomberg’s bullshit over Trump’s any day and twice on Sunday.

by Anonymousreply 419February 20, 2020 5:36 AM

I don't think you understood what Bloomberg looked like in that exchange. He more or less just said "Shit happens, get over it" which isn't a great political impression.

Then let those bitches who traded their right to speak up return the tens of thousands they traded that right for or donate it to charity. No one made them sign an NDA. People with real values would not trade their morals for money.

by Anonymousreply 424February 20, 2020 5:45 AM

I like Warren, but her routine has become routine. She butts in too often, reminds the audience multiple times about her dust bowl roots, then lobs a sob story to make a point and then pivots to her very programmed remarks.

It’s funny that people go after Pete for preparation, but Liz goes full scriptEd and her speechwriter is not conversational.

He's such a fucking drone with his pissy bullshit. He and Amy both blew it by having a bitch off most of the night. DONE. Warren is an honest person who obviously cares. Between her and Bernie they will have the delegates for a progressive nominee. Which one will it be??? Hopefully the one who can win. E. Warren.

by Anonymousreply 429February 20, 2020 6:07 AM

Warren's problem is that well over half the votes are likely to have been cast already in NV, so breathing a little life into her campaign at this point really is not going to bump her up a lot.

by Anonymousreply 430February 20, 2020 6:13 AM

He's the only one on stage that is NOT a millionaire or billionaire. You really need to fact check your thought process before you make completely false statements. Bernie is a sellout with THREE HOUSES and Warren has pocketed 12 MILLION as a politician. Would she have that kind of money if she was still a teacher? I think not. She and Bernie are the ones who sold out, deal with it.

For four months after the convention. Every day, on every morning show, Sunday talker, podcast, social media, everything--just hammering away at Orange with the same devastating talking points and supporting the candidate with the same messages about health-care, climate change, economic inequality/tax the rich, education, opportunity, etc.

It's what the administration will be doing, and Miz Lindz and Rudy.

But Democrats have 25 freaking people who can say if you ever supported me, please support the candidate and what we all believe in. Get out and vote.

C'mon, Democratic Primary contenders, prove you weren't just lying to us about wanting Orange out!

No, you're wrong. Just read it. An 18-year-old Pete wrote about two admirable traits of Bernie: candor and bipartisanship.

I admire Bernie for being his honest, outspoken self and for seizing the advantage of not being a D or R in a bipartisan environment, but that doesn't mean I'm on his free-shit train or have this mystical belief in Mitch McConnell bowing to the will of one million people marching to the National Mall.

The debate was a free for all, that format doesn’t help the Dems at all. It was like the hunger games, not productive at all.

I’m still on the Bloomberg train , even after the debate. He is a data, analysis and numbers guy. He will hire good people to run the country.

Warren took everyone out at the knees in a last death knell, she has no money left! I liked her a lot but this tirade should have been towards Trump and Sanders, Bloomberg was way too easy pickings, esp since the Dems will need his money down the road to beat Trump.

Biden & Pete came out better for me than when I went in.

Amy is done. Bernie looks angry and very unwell. He just spouts the same pie in the sky, no real plan about how his plans will actually happen.

by Anonymousreply 459February 20, 2020 11:24 AM
Warren took everyone out at the knees in a last death knell, she has no money left!

She apparently had a good single-day haul yesterday. Probably not enough to keep things going for too long, but it gives her some more fumes to hopefully hang in until Super Tuesday.

by Anonymousreply 460February 20, 2020 11:27 AM

Texting with friend who works in DC this AM

She says Warren's big advantage is that she raised a lot of money in early days and thus has staff on the ground in key states (Super Tuesday) while Pete and (especially) Amy do not have nearly as many. She feels this is a big plus for Warren as the assumption was Warren might drop out after Nevada.

So if Warren can maintain momentum and stay close by, 2nd or 3rd place in NV and SC, she has people on the ground in Super Tuesday states to hand out buttons and go door to door and all that.

Interesting times.

With respect and genuine curiosity, R4562, what are your criterion? You couldn't get more different than Pete>Warren>Biden.... yet that's how you ranked them. There's a pattern in your preferences yet Warren sticks out like a sore thumb. Why?

by Anonymousreply 464February 20, 2020 11:40 AM

I'm not sure there was a winner of the debate (though Warren was batting a thousand) but the clear loser was Bloomberg, quelle surprise.
With respect and genuine curiosity, [R4562], what are your criterion? You couldn't get more different than Pete>Warren>Biden.... yet that's how you ranked them. There's a pattern in your preferences yet Warren sticks out like a sore thumb. Why?

Because ultimately, I think Warren is actually closest to my own opinions on policy (except for the need for a Cabinet member to be vetted by a 9-year-old). If I was electing a platform, I would vote for hers in a heartbeat.

But in the end, I think Pete's positions are acceptable, and my gut tells me he's got a better shot nationally that she does. I'm not sure if the eventual nominee will draw from the candidate field (in fact, Bernie has already said he wants a clone, so it definitely won't in his case), but some configuration of Warren and Pete together would be my ideal ticket.

Pete got revenge last night on Amy for her constant jabs at him.

by Anonymousreply 473February 20, 2020 11:54 AM

Amy had the combination of self belief and ego to decide it was her time to run for the presidency.

And for the longest time she couldn't catch on and only recently she's managed to barely.

And here's this upstart kid mayor of nowhere who everybody laughed at and he's doing decently and threatens to do even better. Worse, he's taking support she thinks could/should be hers. Worse, part of his strategy to diminish her candidacy is to chip away at her strenght: tenure.

She's entitled, she's frustrated and she's stuck. This is eating her liver out and she doesn't have the skills or the offer to get through it.

by Anonymousreply 474February 20, 2020 11:57 AM

One thing I'm sure of, no ticket can now emerge from this process except maybe - maybe - Warren/Amy or Biden/Buttegieg. They all fucking hate each other now.

Last night was brutal... things got said in a bid to survive that can't really be unsaid, in my view. You compare it to all that went previously, last night was far more visceral than it needed to be. They went nuts, which is fine for survival, but yikes, great TV but that was burn unit.

by Anonymousreply 475February 20, 2020 12:00 PM

I think Pete did very well. He seemed above the fray as they were all bickering. He seemed the most presidential to me.
One thing I'm sure of, no ticket can now emerge from this process except maybe - maybe - Warren/Amy or Biden/Buttegieg. They all fucking hate each other now.

I don't think there's that much hate, except between Amy and Pete. And even that was one-sided until recently.

Despite Pete probably being the farthest from Bernie politically, is generally respectful to him when he articulates what he disagrees with. And the senators and former senator/VP don't really tear into each other.

by Anonymousreply 477February 20, 2020 12:09 PM

Democrats have no one to blame but ourselves. We’ve had all this time to pick a candidate to defeat Trump, and now the Party is panicking that none of these candidates can? Why did we overlook Southern and Midwest candidates like Governor Roy Cooper? We are elevating people who have no appeal to swing states

by Anonymousreply 478February 20, 2020 12:12 PM

Cooper BARELY won his race.

If there's anyone from that part of the world who should have run, it's former VA Governor Terry McAuliffe. A lot of people had doubts about him (myself included) and he turned out to be phenomenal.

by Anonymousreply 483February 20, 2020 12:17 PM
I don’t like Pete’s robotic talking points.

I don't see that at all. He seems to respond very well and concise. Maybe against a backdrop of forgetful, angry or prickly candidates he looks smooth, but that just goes to show you how good he would be under pressure on the world stage as our next President.

by Anonymousreply 484February 20, 2020 12:19 PM

Pete has emotional maturity. I have yet to see him shook.

by Anonymousreply 485February 20, 2020 12:24 PM

R478, Bloomberg could appeal to swing states. He would low-key siphon republican votes as well (make of that what you will). Buttegieg might be capable of that, too, but not as capable as Bloomberg.

I can't say the same for Sanders or Warren.

And hunched, shuffling Sanders face turning a Pepto Bismol color flecked with blue and yellow undertones, before darkening to red-- that's one of those things we would look back on, after he has a massive heart attack debating Trump, where we would say "How did we not see this coming?"

by Anonymousreply 486February 20, 2020 1:14 PM

Cooper barely won, but he was about the only Democrat to win in NC in 2016

by Anonymousreply 487February 20, 2020 1:49 PM
I don’t like Pete’s robotic talking points. Anybody else think he is modeling his campaign after Obama?

I usually think the same... last night I thought he was the most natural I'd seen him. He was very funny when he leapt in on Biden with the joke at Bloomberg or Trump's expense... it was light but clever and you may have missed it but he sort of bugged his eyes as Biden resumed. It was a nice, cordial moment between them.

I think Pete is keeping his options open, quietly, where Biden is concerned. If somehow, long shot, granted, Biden pulls it off... Pete wants to be Veep material and I think that's a sensible idea, personally.

by Anonymousreply 488February 20, 2020 1:52 PM

by Anonymousreply 489February 20, 2020 1:53 PM

R486 I agree Bernie looks like crap and is walking and standing in a stooped to one side sickly way. He looks really unhealthy. So tired of his rich socialist schtick.

Pete impressed me much more this round with his calm demeanor and ability to think on his feet.

Bloomberg disappointed but i don’t think he is done. It’s seemingly all out there now.

While some are crowing about E Warren she came off as unnecessarily nasty to me. She should have been crunching harder on Bernie all these weeks and maybe she would be in the lead. Her resources are running low, & it’s getting harder to keep tapping the same dem donor well over and over.

I donated once this cycle and not giving more.

by Anonymousreply 490February 20, 2020 1:54 PM

Even under attack by that shrieking harpie, Amy, Pete was kept his cool. And he never interrupted anyone. My goodness, Amy was screaming over everyone, including the moderators. As Pete has shown everyone, you can get your point across and defend yourself without being loud and disrespectful.

by Anonymousreply 491February 20, 2020 2:02 PM

Pete was very cool and confident last night. Biden was pretty composed too. The rest of them seemed frantic.

by Anonymousreply 492February 20, 2020 2:05 PM

I am not voting for Pete. What the fuck has he done? absolutely NOTHING.

I thought Warren was good. I didn't think I could vote for her before last night's debate and now my mind has been changed a little bit.

Bloomberg hasn't debated in years. I am still on the fence

Bernie needs to buy some hair spray. Spray it before any event so his hair stays in place, he was looking bad last night. He isn't in good health, just look at his eyes...compare that to Bloomberg or Biden (around same age). I am not a fan.

by Anonymousreply 493February 20, 2020 2:09 PM

"Warren out a week ago, but damn, she just came back swinging"

It's easy to nitpick with personal attacks- we do it all the time on here. But what is SHE about, besides tired campaign lines, an impossible healthcare plan and trying to get money for all her plans from billionaires (good luck)? There's no there there.

At least she didn't mention her brothers.

by Anonymousreply 494February 20, 2020 2:09 PM

Bloomberg made a strategic error even showing up last night. Trump isn't going to debate his opponent in the run-up to November. He doesn't need to. Bloomberg didn't need to, either. He had sailed to second place in the polls just with ads. Now he's finished.

by Anonymousreply 495February 20, 2020 2:10 PM

And when you're rich, they let you do it. You can do anything. ... Grab them by the NDA.

by Anonymousreply 496February 20, 2020 2:12 PM

"Pete was very cool and confident last night."

But bloodless and passionless. Does he ever get angry?

He needs to roll-up those shirtsleeves and start yelling, or it's over for him.

by Anonymousreply 497February 20, 2020 2:12 PM

Bloomberg needs practice with debates, last night was a start.

He has a record of getting shit done. What the fuck has Pete done? He's is green, inexperienced. He should go back and get more work experience...

by Anonymousreply 498February 20, 2020 2:12 PM

FWIW, David Axelrod said this morning on CNN that Bloomberg today will reach a significant multiple of people through his ads over the number of people who saw the debate.

It was disastrous but is it over? Logically, it should be close to over but who the hell knows?

by Anonymousreply 501February 20, 2020 2:14 PM

That's not who he is, R497. You're using Sanders and Warren's theatrics as a template. Obama never yelled and he did well enough. Biden yells and everybody's like WTF? Because that's not really Biden either. You have to be authentic.

by Anonymousreply 502February 20, 2020 2:15 PM

The thing that worries me they're so busy trying to destroy Bloomberg that Bernie got a completely free pass last night. Pete and Biden were the only ones who tackled Bernie and then just briefly. Warren was so dramatic she sucked all the focus out of the room.

If this keeps up, Bernie sails to victory.

Imagine if they'd all turned their Bloomberg fire on Bernie?

They should damage Bernie first, then go to Tribal Council.

by Anonymousreply 503February 20, 2020 2:17 PM

I like Pete, and he did keep his cool, but I think some would find it off-putting that he appeared to enjoy provoking Amy, like teasing an old dog. I'm not calling Amy an old dog, I'm just saying.

by Anonymousreply 504February 20, 2020 2:17 PM

Amy looked like an angry frau who just had her lunch stolen from the office fridge. Bye girl, bye!

Bloomberg needs to go. I don't like him anyway so I enjoyed his demise at the debate.

by Anonymousreply 505February 20, 2020 2:18 PM

I do not understand Pete's appeal. I have no confidence in him, I doubt he could even run NYC as a mayor let alone USA. I look for performance records, Pete is not qualified.

Bernie, I just think he's gonna keel over any min...

I am still hoping Biden can come back...

by Anonymousreply 506February 20, 2020 2:22 PM

The South Carolina debate is in five days, also the last debate before SC [italic]and[/italic] Super Tuesday.

I think it's going to be another bloodbath, even uglier than last night.

But I think Bloomberg will come as heavily armed as they were this time. He'll know his responses and have his own attack lines.

His (huge) team is digging up oppo on all of them and writing it up. He's got to. To the degree people are paying attention, he's got one shot at rewriting last night.

I predict he will focus on Bernie (for obvious reasons), Warren (for defensive reasons, because she's gonna gun hard for him again) and Biden (who is biding his time, still decent in the national polls and no doubt hoping to emerge from the wreckage of Bloomberg/Warren/Bernie.)

Warren will try to make lightning strike twice, which may or may not work.

Amy needs to get over Pete and focus like a laser on Bernie. Pete needs to do the same thing. They've got to shift the focus. The fight for the center can come later.

It will be fantastically ugly.

by Anonymousreply 507February 20, 2020 2:28 PM

My observations:

Amy gets too tetchy and emotional, opening herself up to that sexist line of criticism. I'm afraid I do think "frau" or "PTA president" when I watch her, can't help it.

Bernie just repels me on an aesthetic level. That bottom layer of yellow teeth, blech.

Pete looked quite fresh compared to all the rest, and his voice was a relief from all the yelling and screeching.

Warren acting super-cunty to get herself back on the map was entertaining.

Biden has had some interesting face work done, I wonder why Bloomberg hasn't, he looked old last night.

Bloomberg stood there like a schmuck for the first half, got a few swings in later. Bernie got so mad when called out about all his houses.

by Anonymousreply 508February 20, 2020 2:29 PM
I do not understand Pete's appeal. I have no confidence in him, I doubt he could even run NYC as a mayor let alone USA. I look for performance records, Pete is not qualified.

You could argue the same broadly about Bill Clinton or Barak Obama at the outset of their campaigns. I think Pete is articulate, sincere, composed and new... all of which is more resonant perhaps than it might have been because everybody looked down their noses and laughed at the young, gay mayor of South Bend, Indiana presuming to seek the Presidency. And then, of all things, he turned out not to be a joke after all. The element of surprise is a powerful thing. (I say this far preferring Biden, but I don't discount Pete and watch him with great interest.)

by Anonymousreply 509February 20, 2020 2:31 PM

Last night, immediately after the debate, one MSNBC person said "Some of these people on stage tonight may not be here in three weeks" and I thought she was referring to Bernie, with his sickly mauve countenance, but she was just talking about making the cut for the next debate.

by Anonymousreply 510February 20, 2020 2:33 PM

Well someone trolldared me above and said I posted 30 times which is. possible. My threads weren't loading so trolldared and one posted 75 in one thread along. So the answer is yes!

by Anonymousreply 511February 20, 2020 2:36 PM
So the answer is yes!

Was there even a question?

by Anonymousreply 512February 20, 2020 2:40 PM

Also a dumb question: did Steyer drop out, or did he not make the cut this time?

by Anonymousreply 513February 20, 2020 2:44 PM

Anyone could be the fucking mayor of sound bend, it ain't that hard. Bill Clinton was a fucking Governor! what are the issues of a small town of south bend and issues of USA? I don't think he's qualified to handle it. Obama was a senator for years and years before running...Pete is not even worthy to be mentioned in the same sentence as Obama and Clinton period in terms of experience and qualifications.

I will NEVER vote for him unless he gets more work experience.

by Anonymousreply 514February 20, 2020 2:45 PM

R513: didn't make the cut this time.

South bend population--100k.

Arkansas population--3 fucking million.

Any Tom, Dick or Harry can be mayor of 100k. nothing special. I'm not impressed.

by Anonymousreply 518February 20, 2020 2:55 PM

Remember that Republicans and the Fox News crowd absolutely hates Warren and will never work with her. They don’t feel that way about Amy. Republicans will vote for her, and the R’s in Congress wont block everything she proposes.

Wasnt Obama only a year or two in the senate? I remember someone saying the only thing he did in the Senate was run for President

wiki--Barack Obama served three terms in the Illinois Senate from 1997 to 2004, when he was elected to the United States Senate. During this part of his career, Obama continued teaching constitutional law part time at the University of Chicago Law School as he had done as a Lecturer from 1992 to 1996, and as a Senior Lecturer from 1996 to 2004.[1][2][3]

by Anonymousreply 522February 20, 2020 2:58 PM

Warren comes across as a cuntier Pelosi and we know how much the middle loves Pelosi...

by Anonymousreply 523February 20, 2020 3:00 PM

R519, Some Republicans might vote for her but a lot of Dems won't, so there goes that.

by Anonymousreply 524February 20, 2020 3:00 PM

By your rationale, R518, Kamala should be the nominee because she is Senator from a state with a population fo 39.5 million. Or does she just count for half that because there's two senators?

by Anonymousreply 525February 20, 2020 3:01 PM

Pete has executive experience. Washington DC swampiness is not good in this election.

by Anonymousreply 526February 20, 2020 3:02 PM

R525, I'm just pointing out the facts, Pete isn't qualified. Maybe he can be VP...

I'm still hoping for Biden.

by Anonymousreply 527February 20, 2020 3:02 PM

R526, Trump also has executive experience, Bloomberg too.

by Anonymousreply 528February 20, 2020 3:03 PM

Warren isn't a factor. She's too far back in the polls and she sunk there. She started strong and collapsed. There's a reason for that. All she did last night was demonstrate how fiercely you can fight when you're cornered.

She knows she can't win but she's obviously so offended at Bloomberg's intrusion into the [italic]Democratic[/italic] party process that she is on a one woman mission to destroy him.

If only she felt as passionately about Sanders we might not be in this mess.

by Anonymousreply 529February 20, 2020 3:03 PM

R528... I think there are things about Pete that mitigate but I understand where you're coming from.

And I hope for Biden too! xo

by Anonymousreply 530February 20, 2020 3:04 PM

Also, just to play along, Amy's way too easily rattled to debate Trump. Hell, even small town mayor and not-millionaire, nice guy Pete got her goat last night. And remember her shaking uncontrollably several debates back? She's DOA.

by Anonymousreply 531February 20, 2020 3:04 PM

sorry... R530 meant for R527.

by Anonymousreply 532February 20, 2020 3:04 PM

Even Biden has said he wouldnt have been able to cut the mustard as a mayor because he doesnt like the presure of having to produce results.

Mayoral experience is impressive.

by Anonymousreply 533February 20, 2020 3:06 PM

R533, Does that mean you're very impressed with me? I was mayor of the capital of the fucking world for 12 years!

by Anonymousreply 534February 20, 2020 3:08 PM

I fear Trump would have Amy huffing off the debate stage in tears.

by Anonymousreply 535February 20, 2020 3:09 PM

Plus, you know the Secret Service will catch that stapler before it gets anywhere near him.

by Anonymousreply 536February 20, 2020 3:10 PM

R534, Maybe I would be if Bloomberg wasnt a racist, sexist asshole that made it his mission as mayor to further disenfranchise the poor.

by Anonymousreply 537February 20, 2020 3:10 PM
Also, just to play along, Amy's way too easily rattled to debate Trump.

She’ll do just fine against Trump.

by Anonymousreply 538February 20, 2020 3:13 PM

Is Amy in menopause? They are moody due to hormonal changes...and may make mistakes they regret soon after.

Warren is my preferred female candidate.

by Anonymousreply 539February 20, 2020 3:21 PM

"You're a mean one, Mr Orange!"

by Anonymousreply 540February 20, 2020 3:21 PM

by Anonymousreply 541February 20, 2020 3:24 PM

I noticed Biden having scars on his scalp that look like the beginning of skin cancer. Too much time in the sun campaigning without protection. I like Joe, but I have a feeling he's going to look like a walking corpse a year into his presidency if he were to win.

The thing that bothers me most about Bloomberg, more than stop and frisk, more than sexist comments and NDAs, is his willingness to flip between parties when it suits him. That tells me that he isn't about conviction, he is about power for Mike Bloomberg.

by Anonymousreply 544February 20, 2020 3:36 PM

Bloomberg looks reptilian.

by Anonymousreply 545February 20, 2020 3:39 PM

Warren was good, but the pandering to mothers and babies alienates me. She makes that same weepy childcare speech verbatim every debate and it wears me out. No thanks. I'm sticking with Pete.

by Anonymousreply 546February 20, 2020 4:00 PM

R544 I agree. Also effectively changing the rules to serve a third term as mayor. Then of course the DNC changes debate qualifications to cater to his wealth. Clearly he is of the mindset that whatever obstacles are in his way, just change the rules or throw money at it. Can’t blame him really. Surely it has worked for him all his adult life. Want the presidency? Meh, I’ll just buy it. Who do I pay? Money he understands. Notice how he got animated and generally better last night once the subject of money came up.

by Anonymousreply 547February 20, 2020 4:03 PM

Dont wallow in democrat purity please! Rethugs are accepting billionaire money and as long as Citizens United is in play we gave to do the same to stay competitive.

So sorry but its true. We need to get big money out of elections with the next Dem in office.

by Anonymousreply 548February 20, 2020 4:07 PM

I think it was great that they changed the rules to put him on the stage. Now, we've all had a chance to see what he's really like.

by Anonymousreply 549February 20, 2020 4:09 PM

OK R537, I'm so sure Trump will treat you better.

by Anonymousreply 550February 20, 2020 4:11 PM

Some of you just want Pete to get angry on stage so he you can call him an hysterical queen. You’re the same people who were upset with Obama for not getting upset enough, so when he did get upset you could just call him an angry black man. The rules are different for the Obamas and the Petes of the world.

Pete acted presidential last night and he’s still the smartest one on that stage.

by Anonymousreply 551February 20, 2020 4:12 PM

I still like Pete the best and laughed at the looks he got on in his face when people went after him. Elizabeth Warren cracked me up, she had some good zingers but she sounded like she had asthma with the big breaths she took between sentences

by Anonymousreply 552February 20, 2020 4:18 PM

R552 I think she may have had a cold.

by Anonymousreply 553February 20, 2020 4:19 PM

Both Pete and Salma-Hayek-adjacent journalist baited Amy - and Amy had so little control, she took the bait and became brittle and enraged! And Amy must have had BITTER VOMIT in her throat listening to Senator Warren very insincerely defending her in a MUCH too long and GREASY supplication to fairness. It was a hilarious and horrifying moment.

The absolute worst/best rat fuck was the commotion about WHO'S TOO RICH. For example, I adored Bloomberg's comeback to the ridiculous question - "Should you exist?" He answered only what he could - "OF COURSE" (you dumb goy)"I worked very hard for my money." But, that can never be the politically correct answer in this race. So they were ALL FUCKED!!! All fucking in the rat fuck! Gawd, that debate was all and all, extremely vulgar and basic.

by Anonymousreply 554February 20, 2020 5:11 PM

He shoulda said: no, any other great questions?

by Anonymousreply 555February 20, 2020 5:17 PM

Chuck Todd: "Should you exist?"

Mike Bloomberg: "Yes, and for the sake of the country, so should Tim Russert."

by Anonymousreply 556February 20, 2020 5:30 PM

What a delight everyone has qualified to do it all again Tuesday. Race will be the primary topic. May have to skip that one. A bunch of privileged whities twisting themselves in knots of wokeness, and pandering will make me want to stay home on Election Day.

by Anonymousreply 557February 20, 2020 5:36 PM

by Anonymousreply 559February 20, 2020 5:40 PM

I’m sorry but again if Amy can’t take some pretty soft ball challenges from the “little homosexual mayor who could” she’s not ready for Trump. Period.

by Anonymousreply 560February 20, 2020 5:41 PM

What I wonder is, do we really even need these many debates? Don’t most democrats have their top 1 and a backup already pretty much locked in?

by Anonymousreply 561February 20, 2020 5:44 PM

Most are undecided.

by Anonymousreply 562February 20, 2020 5:58 PM

Revisionist theory today is that Bloombito's Debate Debacle does not seem to be a big deal, that everyone outside of Bernie-land is so tired of hearing about Woke shit and they realize that a few bad jokes from Bloomberg is nothing compared to Trump's Pussy Grabbing and fucking porn stars and all the rest of his shit. Voters are tired of Wokeness Tests that no one seems able to meet, Bernie and Liz included. (Remember "Bernie said a woman can't be president!")

Voters just want someone who can win.

Revisionist Theory 2 (more of a Conspiracy Theory, TBH) I'm hearing says Warren went after Bloomberg hard because she realizes she can't win but can be Bernie's VP pick and getting rid of Bloomberg helps Bernie.

Theory #1 sounds likely, #2 sounds unlikely

They don't care what Rachel Maddow and Jamelle Bouie think

by Anonymousreply 563February 20, 2020 6:19 PM

Bloomy came in too soon. He should have waited as long as possible and enjoyed being above it all.

by Anonymousreply 564February 20, 2020 6:26 PM

Theory 2 seems quite likely to me. Warren was falling in the polls and had been for awhile. She had non momentum. VP might be her consolation prize.

Also, no doubt she resents Bloomberg wading into the Democratic race so late and is going to take him down so a real Democrat can win, even though she's an ex-Republican herself. Or maybe she is so deluded in her zeal that she still thinks she can win. Sort of Hiroo Onoda.

by Anonymousreply 565February 20, 2020 6:31 PM

R563 there are some of us who are just tired of the people who are always offended by stuff that happened in the past. Or judging past actions based on our current values. What does Oprah say, ‘when you know better, you do better.”

People say and do fucked up things. Be mad at those who never change. Show compassion and understanding for those who acknowledge their mistakes and try to do better with their words and actions. And it’s always progressives and it always come back to bite them in the ass. No one is pure. Humans are flawed and complicated. Cancelling someone is the easy way out.

by Anonymousreply 566February 20, 2020 6:38 PM

I don’t think that is so much what People are worried about.

I think they are worried about WHAT HIS PAST MEANS FOR OUR FUTURE.

Will he be a corporatist scumbag?

Will he actually govern as a democrat?

Stuff like that.

by Anonymousreply 567February 20, 2020 6:42 PM

NBC: Last night's debate was the most-watched Democratic debate ever, average nearly 20 million total viewers across NBC and MSNBC It .was also the top-rated Democratic debate ever in the A25-54 demo and attracted 13.5 million live stream viewers, surpassing any previously hosted debate this election cycle.
Bloomy came in too soon. He should have waited as long as possible and enjoyed being above it all.

At some point he has to start participating in primaries if he expects to get any delegates.

by Anonymousreply 570February 20, 2020 6:51 PM

R563 & R566, you got it.

In another dimension, I would be troubled by Bloomberg's past comments but none of us can afford that now.

The alternative is Trump, full stop.

by Anonymousreply 571February 20, 2020 6:52 PM

There are two ways to look at Bloomberg's time as NYC mayor.

He presided over the rapid gentrification of the city along with rising real estate prices and a crackdown on crime that seemed to target minorities unfairly.

The flip is that the city became much safer and a much less stressful place to live, especially for well off white families. It also became much more sterile.

I say there are two ways to look at it, because it's unclear how much effect Bloomberg's policies had on any of that, or if it was just inevitable given societal and economic forces. San Francisco, for example, had very woke and liberal mayors and city government and wound up far more gentrified and white than NYC, with a terrible homeless problem. And it's not as if the new Woke mayor, DeBlasio has stemmed any of those trends beyond ending stop and frisk. NYC is a lot whiter and more gentrified now than when Bloomberg left office

I know. Warren should tell everyone she's a person of color, too. like that she's part hispanic or Lebanese or Native American.

by Anonymousreply 583February 20, 2020 9:24 PM

Pete is too dull. Somebody here compared him to Bill Clinton? That's way off. Bill was cool, and has plenty of charisma. Pete is certainly smart, but he does seem a little smarmy, but mostly flat and dull.

by Anonymousreply 584February 20, 2020 9:27 PM

Warren was clearly auditioning to be Bernie's VP. Either that or she's hoping his voters will come over to her after his next heart attack. She mauled everybody except Bernie.

by Anonymousreply 585February 20, 2020 9:33 PM

And Bernie is the one who is her biggest threat, so she is clearly looking to play second fiddle to Bernie. It’s kind of sad really, because even though I don’t like her, she is smarter and more accomplished than Bernie and I would have no problem voting for her.

by Anonymousreply 586February 20, 2020 9:36 PM

by Anonymousreply 589February 20, 2020 10:12 PM

Not this Obama Stan R589. I was all in for Hillary until I was just moved by Obama and when he started picking up steam, I was all in. I feel the same way about Pete. I think he is just what this country needs right now, but people are having a hard time with his age and the bogus claim of lack of experience. Pete is the smartest fucker in the room. This country would soar under President Pete.

Look at how happy Chasten is. Pete is a man who knows how to get shit done.

by Anonymousreply 590February 20, 2020 10:21 PM

OK, the state of a marriage tells you what a man is like to be married to and nothing else about his ability to be President.

People's Exhibit One, your honour: Bill Clinton.

by Anonymousreply 591February 20, 2020 10:26 PM

Americans have seldom elected the candidate with experience, especially Washington experience. If you’ve made it to Washington. You’ve made it. Stop being a corporate try hard gunning for a promotion. Let others have the opportunity to be part of the process.

Elections are where Americans say fuck you to their bosses, corporate executive who kept grasping for more at the expense of the employees in flyoverstan.

Eight years and they are gone. Congressional members stay for decades and decades and in some cases even more decades.

It shows how out of touch the Senators running for POTUS are that they don’t get it. Bloomberg’s best moment of the night has to be pointing out that only in America does a man with 3 houses and millions of dollars get to proclaim himself the leader of the socialists. And that still isn’t enough. After thirty years of coasting in his privileged position, he decides in his seventies, he wants more and has spent the last twelve years being an ass trying to get it.

by Anonymousreply 592February 20, 2020 10:39 PM

r592, you are the boss of this thread, spot on post. Now you need to take your satire/analogy one step further and fit the Deplorables in.

Whether I vote for Pete or someone else (not sure who that is), the argument about experience is **preposterous**. Look at how our government, from military to FBI/NSA/CIA, the DOJ, ambassadors, treasury, on and on and on, look how they all managed for the most part, to function.

It has only been through the intentional, willful evil of Trump and the GOP that department’s have sustained incredible damage. If Trump had just sat on his fat ass and done nothing....we could have made it out only partially unscathed. Now, the wreckage of the fed looks like a CA forest after a wildfire — a burned out, black, smoking shadow of its former self. But life can spring from a charred out forest, and we can regrow all the limbs if we can just win this election and take back the Senate.

Please — look at who is running in your state and local government TODAY. Give the Dems money TODAY.

by Anonymousreply 593February 21, 2020 12:28 AM

I really don't care about Stop and Frisk (that's over) or even some NDAs in a company that employs thousands. Many companies have NDAs. Talk about what you can do and beating Trump. STFU Warren and Buttigieg. Attacks are so internet comment thread. I'm so over them. Just talk policy.

by Anonymousreply 595February 21, 2020 12:48 AM

the experience argument is nonsense

George HW Bush, Bob Dole, Al Gore--all had a whole lot of experience in government, were lackluster politicians

DItto Her, who did not have anywhere near the amount of experience her Stans keep claiming (8 years as First Lady?)

Obama and JFK both had limited experience.

President is a job that requires leadership skills and intuition. Can't teach that

by Anonymousreply 596February 21, 2020 1:15 AM

Bloomberg won the debate. Digging-up old lawsuits and every word he ever said is petty. Our country has bigger problems.

Bloomberg has demonstrated he's the only candidate who can appeal to Independents, Undecideds... and even a few Republicans. Without that support, no "Democrat" can win.

If they can put a rapist in the White House, they can forgive Bloomberg.

by Anonymousreply 597February 21, 2020 1:25 AM

Bloomberg appeals to no one.

by Anonymousreply 598February 21, 2020 1:27 AM

Ask Gay men living in a more liberal time a lot of us have never experienced the cruelty harassment, bullying, abuse and violence that the previous generation experienced. I get that. But Stop and Frisk was a destructive demoralizing brutal, vicious gestapo tactic used by police departments all over this country to deal with Black, Brown, Arab, etc people, but primarily Blacks. It was frightening and humiliating at best. Scary.

As a kid, seeing my older cousin slammed against the side of a building while two cops put their hands on him in gross, humiliating ways and demeaned him, disrespected him, and called him out of his name, was frightening to this 10 yr old and I never forgot it. In fact, cop cars still give me a knot in my gut. Don't minimize it or say, well it was in the past. It's a not very distant past. And it can start up again with a memo from the chief of police in any city.

by Anonymousreply 599February 21, 2020 1:27 AM

Warren would be a good running mate from the standpoint of being an attack dog.

by Anonymousreply 600February 21, 2020 1:28 AM

^ that's so not true. I think it's going to come down to Sanders and Bloomberg.

by Anonymousreply 601February 21, 2020 1:28 AM

I don't dispute the comparisons to Obama. But there is one very significant level of experience to keep in mind. Obama was a member of the Illinois State legislature. Then he went to the U.S. Senate. My point is, Obama knew and understood how legislative bodies worked. That's important.

He understood policy and process, and he had an empathetic, emotional literacy about how to deal with people. Yes, he came across as cerebral and cool, but he understood how to deal with people. His work as a community organizer is not to be dismissed. Because he stood at the nexus of where policy is derived and turned into action.

He understood real needs as well as expressed needs. Pete has very limited experience as a Mayor. He is in a reactive position more than a pro active position. He really does need more experience. I wish he'd run for Congress.

He has an awesome future ahead of him, but without a real appreciation of what he will face in Washington D.C. he underestimates the scope and complexities. Not saying he's not smart, because he is really smart. But there is a huge gap, and he has to fill it with experience of another kind.
