Jake Lacy
He frequently plays the Nice Preppy Suburban White Boy In The City Who Could Be The Best Thing To Happen To Our Fucked Up Heroine Ever (Girls, High Fidelity, The Office) and works more than most TV actors.
What do DLers think of him (or are you unaware of him in that he's under 40 and not the target of insane fan frau posts)

He is totally my type.
And I'm sure he is in therapy for having to pretend to be dating Lena Dunham.

I thought he was pretty terrible as the love interest for Gwen Verdon in FOSSE/VERDON. I remember thinking, it's that dude again. He works a lot, for someone who's not super-attractive or memorable.
He is the poster boy for AWG (average white guy).

R3 His body is perfect as far as I'm concerned. He was carrying a little extra weight not too long ago for a tv series and still looked sexy in those scenes where he's naked.

His attraction to Lens on Girls moved the show into Science Fiction territory.

He often gets paired with less attractive women. He was also Jenny Slate's love interest in Obvious Child.

That's just Dunham's twisted narcissism.
"My show is to show that normal bodies are OK."
Except for ALL the guys she cast to pretend they craved her ugly body.

There is a HUGE difference between Jenny Slate and Lena Dunham.
The first pairing it totally plausible, the second is ridiculous.

Cute boy, nice body, awful tats.

I think he is adorable. And he is a good actor.
But he isn't a great actor, comes across sorta bland, and doesn't have the "it" factor on screen.

I'm not sure if that's because those are the characters he is supposed to be playing (the nice stable guy your parents would be thrilled if you married) or if it's just who he is, R11
And he was nowhere near a big a stretch for Lens as Patrick Wilson
Driver was the only one who made sense because he was supposed to be borderline insane and those sorts of guys often wind up with unattractive women because that's who will put up with their insanity.

OMG, I'd forgotten about Patrick and... the Lens.
Shudder.

Lena used casting her show like an escort service.

I liked him on The Office, but he always seemed like B-List Jim.

I would take him over John Krasinski any day.

I think Jake is better looking, but John was better on the show.

I never use this phrase from here, but I want him deep inside me and repeatedly.

I remember him from The Office but his character was pretty dull. He gives me Christian youth minister vibes.

That's a good way to describe his presence on screen in general. A b-list version of whoever they couldn't get, although he is good at bringing that wonder bread, AWG, stable pixie dream boy energy to the story. He's strangely carved out a niche for himself, and he does well in those roles, but those roles are never the most interesting part of what you're watching. Never. That's his issue... he'll always be, "Oh yeah, that guy who brings the same interchangeable energy to every role." He's got a nice strong body though, and beautiful legs.
The BEST use of him is in a TV show called Ramy. He plays exactly the type of plain Jane character you'd think, but then subverts it when he reveals himself to be into the protagonists' sister just because she's Egyptian, and exoticizes her in this really gross way. He's probably more talented than the work he's been given, but once you're pigeonholed in this business it's tough to break out.

Weird that the Lena Dunham obsessives took over this thread

If Lacy wants a long-lasting career, he's going to have to seriously send up this image. But he could be comfortable, I mean honestly... things could be worse for any actor. Working alongside Michelle Williams and Sam Rockwell for a couple episodes isn't a bad gig at all. And that was a very good series that I suspect people will continue to watch, but even then he'll be known as, oh yeah, that guy who's always playing that part, which they even managed to insert in this story about Fosse and Verdon.
He should just take his shirt off me... show off that bod whenever he can, and those thick legs. Where was he born? He reads cornfed, right?
