I remember in the 00s and I think even during the 10s, I would constantly see all these Elton quotes basically disparaging Madonna for allegedly not singing live, making horrible music, etc. All the time. Gaga is godmother to Elton's three children, so it's obvious he adores her. But then again, she worships the ground he walks on, so he's obviously flattered by the attention.

They were rehearsing Proud Mary and Tina asked him to play it a little more rock and roll. Elton exploded in front of her, slamming the piano lid, and bitched her out in front of everybody before storming off. Elton came back and apologized to Tina in front of the band and production crew for how he acted. This was confirmed by people who actually worked on the show and who were there that day. Elton even locked himself in his trailer and refused to come out until Tina had to go in there.

I don't know where the fat stuff comes from (Elton can't even get the year the incident took place right in his book) but Tina went and pulled the plug on doing a tour together the very next day after the incident because she decided she wasn't working with him ever again. They were good friends for many years before that, BTW.

Tina's not an asshole by any means. She's a perfectionist and can be tough when it comes to performing because that's her bread and butter, but she still treats her crew with respect and would never dress down someone on the stage the way Elton has with a good many people (from his own crew to audience members). She's tough but fair.

Elton should be commended for his years of sobriety as well as charity work for AIDS (his foundation is one of the best) but he is not a happy person by any means. And yes, VERY difficult to work for. His stature in the industry covers up for a lot of his shitty behavior. He does a lot to help newcomers out.
