Streisand is Supporting Bloomberg

Ugh. This is just disastrous. Disastrous! I am taking a calmative and going to bed.

Rich people will always support other rich people. She knows that with Bloomberg, her money is safe. Fundamentally that's all they care about.

by Anonymousreply 1February 16, 2020 1:53 AM

This will help him get the youth vote.

by Anonymousreply 2February 16, 2020 1:53 AM

Boomers where I live are also supporting Bloomberg, seeing that Liz and Biden are fucking messes.

by Anonymousreply 3February 16, 2020 1:55 AM

Bloomberg is evil. Trump will win easy because Bloomberg represents everything Democrats hate.

by Anonymousreply 4February 16, 2020 1:56 AM

Don't lie to me.

by Anonymousreply 5February 16, 2020 1:59 AM
Boomers where I live are also supporting Bloomberg, seeing that Liz and Biden are fucking messes.

Bloomberg just hasn’t had the chance to demonstrate how much of a mess he can be. Christ, he hasn’t even been on a debate stage yet with these candidates and all of these people are jumping on the bandwagon? It defies all logic. He has done absolutely nothing to prove himself other than spend a bunch of money on some campaign ads, and these motherfuckers want to hand him the Democratic nomination for president?

by Anonymousreply 6February 16, 2020 2:01 AM

Rich jewess who hates the poor endorses richer Jew who hates the poor...

by Anonymousreply 7February 16, 2020 2:06 AM

In the last decade, she's become a grotesque caricature of herself that is so far up her own ass it isn't even funny. A feminist who still pals around with that fashion designer who defended Weinstein and dismissed his victims. Her bizarre ramblings about the accusers of Michael Jackson. All that pointless plastic surgery. Cloning the pets. What happens when people have too much money are too insulated.

Go play in your mall Barbra and leave politics to the adults now.

by Anonymousreply 8February 16, 2020 2:08 AM

She has allowed Bloomberg to use "Evergreen" as his official campaign song, and now says they are two lights who shine as one.

by Anonymousreply 9February 16, 2020 2:13 AM

Oh fuck off, cunt R7.

by Anonymousreply 10February 16, 2020 2:16 AM
She has allowed Bloomberg to use "Evergreen" as his official campaign song

That's an odd choice to use as a campaign song. It's more apt for a wedding.

Calmative? Please take a laxative as well.

I just heard that Troye Sivan is allowing Bloomberg to use his song"Bloom" for his campaign!

by Anonymousreply 18February 16, 2020 2:34 AM

If she thinks it's totally fine for Michael Jackson Jackson to rape kids, why wouldn't she think Bloomberg has the god given right to rape the poor?

by Anonymousreply 19February 16, 2020 2:35 AM

The poor have a lot more to worry about with four more years of Trump. Bloomberg's my least favorite but I will of course vote for him if it's him vs Trump because to do anything else makes you a dumb cunt.

by Anonymousreply 20February 16, 2020 2:38 AM

Completely. Completely agree with OP. Ugh, it is disastrous.

Another endorsement that will turn people off.

Barbra shut up.

by Anonymousreply 21February 16, 2020 2:39 AM

I hope Babs endorsement of Bloomberg will turn people off of Bloomberg.

by Anonymousreply 22February 16, 2020 2:41 AM

The anti-Bloomberg trolling this weekend is serious. Trump is scared.

by Anonymousreply 23February 16, 2020 2:44 AM

Bloomberg is great and would make a fantastic president. Can you imagine what a dream ticket Bloomberg/Pete would be??

by Anonymousreply 24February 16, 2020 2:44 AM

by Anonymousreply 25February 16, 2020 2:55 AM

by Anonymousreply 26February 16, 2020 2:55 AM

Bernie is a Socialist and Bloomberg is an opportunist.

by Anonymousreply 27February 16, 2020 2:59 AM

She's support Trump before she'd support someone who might take another dime of her billions. Billionaires stick together. In her entire filthy rich life, since she was in her early 20s she's been filthy rich, she's never done anything much for to help the poor. She's only "progressive" with trendy causes and even those she doesn't do much for, least of all part with her billions.

by Anonymousreply 28February 16, 2020 3:00 AM

^^^^ Spot on

by Anonymousreply 29February 16, 2020 3:01 AM

The opportunist wins, if he can beat Trump, because the socialist can't, R27.

As for R28, she doesn't have billions, clown. And she's been a Democrat all her adult life and supported them, from JFK to McGovern and so on. And what have YOU done?

by Anonymousreply 30February 16, 2020 3:02 AM

The opportunist will not win especially with Bloomberg’s horrible record on minorities.

by Anonymousreply 31February 16, 2020 3:05 AM

Well, then Trump will win, R31. And he's the biggest opportunist of all.

Forest, meet the trees.

by Anonymousreply 32February 16, 2020 3:07 AM

If Bernie or Bloomberg is the nominee then the Democrats deserve to lose

by Anonymousreply 33February 16, 2020 3:09 AM

But they'll also lose with Pete or Liz.

by Anonymousreply 34February 16, 2020 3:13 AM

Pete’s an actual Democrat.

by Anonymousreply 35February 16, 2020 3:15 AM

If we have the option of Trump being relected or our country turning into a plutocracy, I'm voting Trump. You don't think other Billiobiares aren't gonna do what bloomberg is doing if they realize they can literally buy the presidency? You better get ready for President Bezos in 2024.

by Anonymousreply 36February 16, 2020 3:16 AM

We're already a plutocracy, Hunty R36.

by Anonymousreply 37February 16, 2020 3:17 AM

She's given generously for women's health research. Like, A LOT. But this is still awful.

by Anonymousreply 38February 16, 2020 3:19 AM

Rich people like her are willing to donate some of their money to liberal causes, so long as THEY control the pursestrings.

The idea that the country would have the effrontery to take her money, in the form of high taxes, is intolerable to people like her. Hence the support for Bloomberg, who will never ever raise her taxes. As I said, rich people will always support other rich people over anyone else.

by Anonymousreply 39February 16, 2020 3:28 AM

The only thing that matters is who is Lisha supporting? She'sh got shome sherioush followersh.

by Anonymousreply 40February 16, 2020 3:31 AM

But Streisand didn't vote for Trump, did she, R39? So much for "rich people will always support other rich people over anyone else."

by Anonymousreply 41February 16, 2020 3:32 AM
The opportunist will not win especially with Bloomberg’s horrible record on minorities.

Being horrible to minorities is exactly what got Trump elected.

by Anonymousreply 42February 16, 2020 3:34 AM

Really, in a contest between which opportunist is more horrible, it's clearly Trump.

by Anonymousreply 43February 16, 2020 3:38 AM

Whatever. As long as Trump loses, it’s fine with me.

by Anonymousreply 44February 16, 2020 3:40 AM

IF Trump loses.

by Anonymousreply 45February 16, 2020 3:41 AM

She had rich Hillary to vote for in 2016, idiot R41. She didn't need to vote for Trump. No decent person would vote for Trump or Republican Bloomberg.

by Anonymousreply 46February 16, 2020 3:45 AM
But Streisand didn't vote for Trump, did she, [R39]? So much for "rich people will always support other rich people over anyone else."

Hillary is rich too. Streisand knew she had nothing to fear from Hillary about taxes. And she's a liberal, after all, so long as it doesn't hit her hard in the pocketbook the way Sanders/Warren would. I suspect she'll go very quiet if Sanders gets the nomination.

by Anonymousreply 47February 16, 2020 3:45 AM

R46, you're the idiot--making Streisand the enemy. Get a clue, cunt.

by Anonymousreply 48February 16, 2020 3:46 AM

It's already been posted here that Barbra was supporting Bloomberg, as is most of older Hollywood.

Here she is with Joan Collins last week at a fundraiser for Bloomberg. Barbra looks like she's 40.

For the billionth time, that's not Joan Collins. That's Carole Bayer Sager.

Harrison Ford is also supporting Bloomberg, as are all the A-listers.

by Anonymousreply 53February 16, 2020 3:54 AM

by Anonymousreply 54February 16, 2020 3:54 AM

Joan looks great in r51

by Anonymousreply 55February 16, 2020 3:54 AM

So does Carole Bayer Sager, R55.

by Anonymousreply 56February 16, 2020 3:55 AM

Joan Collins has been making quite the splash in Hollywood over the past week. I thought she lived in St. Tropez? Maybe she's moved back to LA because of her age.

by Anonymousreply 57February 16, 2020 3:56 AM

She's not supporting the gay? What a slap in the face.

However, she said that Michael Jackson's accusers being abused wasn't a bad thing, so of course she wants sexual predator Bloomberg in the White House.

by Anonymousreply 58February 16, 2020 3:57 AM

It's also amazing how much Joan looks likes Carole Bayer Sager, R57.

Oh Mary, R58, go to bed.

by Anonymousreply 59February 16, 2020 3:58 AM

R58, WE ALREADY HAVE A SEXUAL PREDATOR IN THE WHITE HOUSE!

by Anonymousreply 60February 16, 2020 3:59 AM

I have no idea who the fuck Carole Bayer Sager is but the pics on her instagram are freaking me out: the work she's had done on her face is bad enough as it is but then she keeps putting silly photo filters on her face that make her look like a ghost.

by Anonymousreply 61February 16, 2020 3:59 AM

by Anonymousreply 70February 16, 2020 4:22 AM

by Anonymousreply 71February 16, 2020 4:28 AM

People are supporting Bloomberg because they see a "centrist" (debatable) with more money than God who's not a socialist who might win with all the resources he has to bear.

I have no idea, but if he can beat Trump (because Bernie can't), I'm all for it.

by Anonymousreply 72February 16, 2020 4:31 AM

Why would Joan Collin's age cause her to move back to LA?

by Anonymousreply 73February 16, 2020 4:49 AM

Wait a minute I smell a rat. In that Carole Bayer Sanger picture is Mark Burnett's wife, Roma Downey, a Trump supporter.

Wrong. R74. Roma Downey tweeted support of Greta Thunberg on Trump's attack of Greta. And this.

Old Hollywood are really moderate Republicans.

by Anonymousreply 76February 16, 2020 5:23 AM

It beats being Trump supporters, R76. And no, they're not the same thing.

by Anonymousreply 77February 16, 2020 5:24 AM

Bloomberg is a godsend for rich Democrats and older Democrats. They want an old white rich guy to be president, it makes them feel safe, because of all the other old rich white guy presidents we've had. It's partly why Trump's popularity hovers around 44%, because he's an old rich white guy and that part makes them feel like the status quo is being upheld.

I think it's a mistake to replace one crazy fascist millionaire president with a sane but still conservative billionaire president.

by Anonymousreply 78February 16, 2020 5:31 AM

So it makes more sense to get behind a 78-year-old white socialist who will never win swing states, R78?

by Anonymousreply 79February 16, 2020 5:35 AM

Mark Burnett needs to release the behind the scenes footage of Trump filming The Apprentice. From what Noel Casler says a lot of racist stuff was said by Trump.

It seems pretty obvious what the thinking is here: Sanders is a guarantee of Trump winning a second term, and Buttigieg, Biden, and Warren either won't win the primaries and/or won't beat Dump.

The thinking here is that a billionaire can win. I don't necessarily think so, but have at it, because none of them will beat Dump.

by Anonymousreply 82February 16, 2020 5:42 AM

Let’s be honest: Jews will always support other Jews. That’s just a fact. Even Republican Judge Judy is supporting him.

R15 The best of you bitches always draw me back to this cesspool.

[bold]LMFAO![/bold]

by Anonymousreply 93February 16, 2020 6:31 AM

Barbra has always been a grotesque human being who cared only for herself. If you look up limousine liberal in the dictionary her photo is there. She's a greedy out of touch bitch who thinks she can live in the time of Roosevelt AND keep her billions. Oh, Barbra cares for the blacks and the immigrants. As much as she cares for children and Flint Michigan. Jews first. She's an obnoxious, pretentious, hypocritical hag. Name a hospital wing after her. The Barbra Streisand Tax Shelter.

Bloomberg is not considering Tulsi - how fucking ridiculous. He wants Stacey Abrams. As cynical as that is, she's an excellent choice. Every democrat knows she was cheated of the governorship of Georgia in a similar way that Hillary was robbed of the presidency. Stacey Abrams is a star of the Democratic party. Far more impressive than those other louts in the race. I do like Amy and Kamala though. Bloomberg can choose a heavy southern dark skin negro woman and not worry about who he turns off. He's buying his way in and Abrams would get many people on board. People just want the race war and persecution of the poor to stop. We remember stop and frisk and Bloomberg's plutocratic ways. He's not a mobster or a fascist. His intentions are about saving something of America and people are desperate to be saved.

I hate Streisand, but Obama would be pleased to endorse Bloomberg too as would the Clintons. Greedy fucks. They never really wanted anything to change, but at least Bloomberg could halt the culture wars and end racism and child poverty forever, right Barbra? She could sing Everything's Coming Up Roses at his inauguration. Badly. It's a bitter song.

by Anonymousreply 94February 16, 2020 6:52 AM

Oh, dear, R94. Talk about a "bitter song." Looking at you.

by Anonymousreply 95February 16, 2020 6:56 AM

R61 well what’s funny is that because she puts the most unsubtle filters on herself, everyone else in the picture has it too. Hence, that pic of Babs with 20 yr old skin. Even more hilarious slash disconcerting is some picture of Carole Bayer Sager with Diane Keaton, who as we know is a roadmap of wrinkles, totally airbrushed too and it’s really freaky to look at her that way.

Back to the subject ...am I watching Fox News or something? All this demonizing of “liberal elites” as the “real enemy”...that’s just how they want us to think.

by Anonymousreply 102February 16, 2020 9:16 AM

r201 and Trump can't seem to pass a black female without calling them dump or stupid. He also called countries in Africa shit holes. But the real fun started when his Justice Department refused to step in when Republican fucks in North Caroline, Alabama, and Georgia did a massive purge of black voters from their registration list. Trump said equally racist crap in the 80s. So, we have two men that are racist, one is trying to take away my right to vote, the other thinks I look like a nanny service. I'll take my voting rights for 500 Alex.

by Anonymousreply 103February 16, 2020 9:37 AM

Remember how long people have been famous. Someone may come from humble beginnings, like Streisand or Paul McCartney, but they’ve been rich & famous for over fifty years. They don’t remember the old life and can’t identify with people nowadays who still live in humble beginnings. For 50 years they’ve been managing their money, trying to keep people from stealing it, trying to keep it away from the taxman, trying to invest it so it will keep producing more money, trying to figure out how much they need to make per year to continue their lifestyle for the next 20 years. Plus they give money to charitable orgs (Aside- I knew a woman who made a living advising billionaires and corporations where to donate money, how much they should donate each year based on profit & taxes - she became fabulously wealthy).

Of course she’s going to vote for Bloomberg. Her money will be safe.

by Anonymousreply 126February 16, 2020 6:53 PM

Mostly the Russian bots want us to believe celebrity endorsements mean nothing. I can only speak for myself as a diehard Barbra fan she has given many interviews that were right on about politics. Yes at almost 80 her voice isnt what it was when she was 20 ( sounded great last album) and has done and said a few thoughtless things but endorsing Bloomberg isnt one of them. The big picture is we must not have four more years of Rump.

What is so terrible about Bloomberg? First of all he is not Rump and a true billionaire. I'm sure he did a few unpopular things in NyC but wasn't it considered mostly a good job?

by Anonymousreply 130February 16, 2020 10:36 PM
I cannot imagine that a Streisand endorsement has any meaning whatsoever.

It does to her. I'm sure she thinks people will be fascinated.
What is so terrible about Bloomberg?

I think there's a good case to be made that Bloomberg would be as bad as Trump or even worse. For him, EVERY SINGLE THING has a price and can be bought or sold. That's just as corrosive to democratic institutions as authoritarianism.

by Anonymousreply 132February 16, 2020 10:45 PM

right, a public option on health care and increasing taxes on the wealthy is worse than trump

by Anonymousreply 133February 16, 2020 10:57 PM

Bloomberg media spending passes $400 million.

Data from political ad tracker Kantar/CMAG shows the former New York City mayor spent roughly $417.7 million as of Sunday morning, which according to CNN's David Wright, also includes futures reservations.

The amount is 10 times as much as Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders and former South Bend, Indiana, Mayor Pete Buttigieg, who leads the delegate race in the contest, have each spent. Here's a look at ad spending through today (including future reservations:

Bloomberg: $417.7 million

Steyer: $193.6 million

Sanders: $41.8 million

Buttigieg: $40 million

Warren: $21.4 million Biden: $12.3 million

Klobuchar: $10.6 million

Gabbard $5.4 million

As Bloomberg's spending has increased, so has his poll numbers. The former mayor has nearly doubled his support from 8% to 14% in just two weeks according to, RealClearPolitics national average.

by Anonymousreply 134February 17, 2020 12:15 AM

I’m all for Bloomberg buying the election if it gets us rid of Trump.

by Anonymousreply 135February 17, 2020 12:18 AM

We've had about 1% of Americans vote. I'll wait for a few more to chime in before freaking out over any of the remaining candidates being over.

If Bloomberg gets the nomination, I'll happily vote for him.

ANYONE but trump means ANYONE.

by Anonymousreply 136February 17, 2020 12:19 AM

I didn't take it as an endorsement of Bloomberg.

by Anonymousreply 137February 17, 2020 12:20 AM

Bloomberg spending that enormous amount of money is an embarrassment. A huge display of wealth, excess, and tremendous waste.

by Anonymousreply 138February 17, 2020 12:43 AM

embarrassment to whom? not to him obviously and not to those of us who want to see trump taken out

Makes sense that Babs will go for Bloomie. I am for Bloomie myself. I am middle class and not Jewish, so there!!!

by Anonymousreply 141February 17, 2020 12:56 AM

I decided last week before I heard anything about Barbra's pic...I am supporting Bloomberg too. Anyone but anyone but anyone but anyone but Trump. That means anyone. As long as he/she is running on the Democratic ticket.

Let's get rid of Trump. If it takes Bloomberg's money, I'm all for it.

I'm a fan of Biden, Pete and Warren. But Bloomberg is a fighter and can tangle with Trump better than anyone. When Trump goes low, we go lower. That's what it takes to win against Trump. Civility won't work.

by Anonymousreply 142February 17, 2020 12:58 AM

Of course she’ll only support a Jew.

by Anonymousreply 143February 17, 2020 1:06 AM

Who?

by Anonymousreply 144February 17, 2020 1:09 AM

I'm not Jewish and not rich, but Bloomberg can beat Trump. Sanders cannot.

by Anonymousreply 145February 17, 2020 1:11 AM

Bloomberg and Sanders both cannot beat Trump.

by Anonymousreply 146February 17, 2020 1:12 AM

Y’all all said Hillary could be Trump too.

by Anonymousreply 147February 17, 2020 1:15 AM
right, a public option on health care and increasing taxes on the wealthy is worse than trump

Get real. Bloomberg wouldn't do either of these things, no matter what he says now. He would be reasonably good on climate change and that's it. Otherwise his big initiatives would be to ban big containers of soda and hold state dinners. He couldn't care less about ordinary Americans. He is fundamentally a Republican and always will be.

Sanders could easily beat Trump (indeed, he consistently beats him now in head-to-head polling) if people didn't fall for the stupid and meaningless "He's a socialist/communist/alien" routine.

by Anonymousreply 148February 17, 2020 1:22 AM

One hand they dont like Bernie because he is a socialist but have no problem with Rump kissing Russian ass.

How is Bloomberg fundamentally a republican? He is extremely pro gun control, extremely pro-choice and extremely pro gay rights. These are fundamentally the ideals of a democrat. Is there anything more important to a democrat voter than (less) guns, choice and gays?

by Anonymousreply 151February 17, 2020 1:42 AM

he's not, it's just bernie/russian bullshit

by Anonymousreply 152February 17, 2020 1:56 AM

This Tweet by Streisand is not an endorsement. It is a Tweet about Bloomberg’s positions and philanthropy. She right. He is personally paying the UN American contribution to climate initiatives since the Trump admin canceled- he has spent tens of millions funding gun control initiatives and many other significant philanthropic activities. She is merely pointing that out. The OP’s post is troll bait.

by Anonymousreply 153February 17, 2020 2:01 AM

By the way- there are many paths to universal health care- and most nations who have developed such programs have included regulated private as an option- most in fact. Bernie’s proposal is probably not practical because is involves ending one of the largest businesses in the US. But I’ll vote for him if he’s the candidate. I hope he’ll be flexible because he will be taking on stakeholders of enormous power. Nations that have entirely public health care are those who created it before modern health care insurance developed in their nations. I see a public option combined with regulated private-

by Anonymousreply 154February 17, 2020 2:08 AM

And FYI, Bloomberg has pledged to spend at least a billion on ads opposing Trump even if he is not the candidate. He know how rotten Trump is and what’s at stake. His anti Trump ads on Facebook are pretty damn good.

by Anonymousreply 155February 17, 2020 2:12 AM

Bernie's not a Democrat. Only 53% of Bernie supporters said they would support the Democratic nominee if Bernie is not the nominee.

by Anonymousreply 156February 17, 2020 2:18 AM

If Bloomberg doesn't get the nomination don't hold your breath waiting for him to spend his money for the nominee and against Trump, especially if it's Warren or Bernie. Of course so many of you believe everything a politician says when he or she is running for office. The thing is Bernie has been saying what he's saying now for decades, long before he ever dreamed of running for president and Warren has been saying what she's saying now forever too. But that's about it. The others, especially Bloomberg are lying like a rug. I lived through Bloomberg's 12 years and everything he is saying in his ads are lies. They might believe it in bumpfuck somewhere but those of us who lived through the Bloomberg years know he's lying though his teeth.

by Anonymousreply 157February 17, 2020 2:19 AM

Bloomberg is fundamentally a Republican because he was a Republican for a lot more years than he's been a Democrat.

Mostly he's an opportunist and a prick. If he manages to buy the nomination, I'll vote for him.

Anyone but trump means we'll accept Bloomberg too.

Anyone but trump. Anyone.

by Anonymousreply 158February 17, 2020 2:24 AM

Vote for anyone but Trump but let's hope it isn't Sanders.

by Anonymousreply 159February 17, 2020 2:27 AM
Bloomberg is fundamentally a Republican because he was a Republican for a lot more years than he's been a Democrat.

Untrue. He only became a Republican in order to get elected mayor of NYC. For most of his life before and since, he's been a Democrat.

Yeah, just fantastic if you enjoy having a Duane Reade or an IHOP or some other chain shit on every corner, a zillion blocks' worth of interesting businesses and halfway affordable apartment buildings razed to make way for luxury highrises where Russian and Chinese nationals buy condos they'll never occupy, and an ever-widening divide between the one percent and the rest of us.

by Anonymousreply 165February 17, 2020 3:01 AM

The price of NYC real estate has nothing to do with Bloomberg- it’s been one of the most expensive cities in the world for about 100 years- it’s called supply and demand. When half the world wants an apartment in Manhattan... The CPW condos are a reflection of huge international money looking for a landing. Same thing going on in London, Paris, Shanghai etc., and smaller venues like the Hamptons, Nantucket, Rancho Mirage, San Fran etc. My guess is you’re a Bernie bro. Sigh.

by Anonymousreply 166February 17, 2020 3:16 AM

Closing down the only hospital in the West Village and selling the building to one of your real estate developing besties, who turned the building into luxury condos, has nothing to do with supply and demand, R166.

by Anonymousreply 167February 17, 2020 3:21 AM
It’s been one of the most expensive cities in the world for about 100 years- it’s called supply and demand.

No shit, Sherlock; of course, NYC has always been expensive, but Bloomberg has a lot to do with the fucked-up way the demand for real estate has been met in recent years.
My guess is you’re a Bernie bro. Sigh.

Can't stand Bernie, but nice try, Mary.

by Anonymousreply 168February 17, 2020 3:29 AM

by Anonymousreply 169February 17, 2020 3:30 AM

Bloomberg did not close down St Vincent’s. It had been hanging on by fumes for decades- I’m in the healthcare world. He had nothing to do with that. Your language in your posts give you away- although you probably don’t know that.

by Anonymousreply 170February 17, 2020 3:36 AM

Stop with the Datalounge detective horseshit, r169. R166 is a stupid twat who apparently thinks the only goal of city planning and management should be making as much money as possible by selling shit off to the highest bidder, but you have no idea whether or not he's "Charlie" and the antisemitism pretty much negates any point you might have had.

by Anonymousreply 171February 17, 2020 3:36 AM

So the answer was to sell it to a billionaire real estate developer, R170?

by Anonymousreply 172February 17, 2020 3:37 AM

Take the only hospital in the West Village and close it and turn it into luxury condos, R170?

by Anonymousreply 173February 17, 2020 3:40 AM

Exactly, r172. St. Vincent's had problems, but a more useful solution for neighborhood residents would have been figuring out a way to maintain a better-run, financially viable hospital in that space.

by Anonymousreply 174February 17, 2020 3:41 AM

R170 seems to think a hospital "running on fumes" is better suited to be a luxury condo building lived in by the likes of Rosie O'Donnell than a better-run hospital.

by Anonymousreply 175February 17, 2020 3:44 AM

St. Vincent's was THE hospital for AIDS patients. Now it's 5 million dollar apartment units. Thanks, Mike Bloomberg.

Oh seriously I can’t stomach all these Fran Leibowitz - esque laments of how Bloomie “ruined New York” — r166 is right, it’s been going in this direction for decades and it’s called globalization — it’s happening in every upscale city and suburb and the result was inevitable. But then you have people like FL whining about the “good old days” of the Lou Reed/Laurie Anderson NYC and how Bloomberg turned it into a shopping mall, blah blah blah, it’s so freaking tiresome , and that hag needs to let go of that era she so annoyingly and predictably fetishizes. Pffft.

by Anonymousreply 183February 17, 2020 7:41 AM

Fran Lebowitz doesn't have nostalgia for the "good old days," R183--in fact, if you actually listened to her, she says if it seemed better years ago, it was because one was young, or younger, and being young in NYC is always better. THAT'S actually what she said.

As for Bloomberg: I've lived in NYC since the late 1980s, and there's never been a good mayor in all that time, and Bloomberg was certainly as bad as Giuiliani. Bloomberg closed the only hospital in West Village ad sold it to real estate cronies for luxury condos. He added bike lanes to already cramped streets, he meddled in nonsense things like soda consumption, and yes, he helped make NYC one great big playground for rich people and spawn of oligarchs and other foreigners who buy $50 million apartments for money laundering purposes and don't live in NYC.

Mike Bloomberg said 'many black and Latino males' don't 'know how to behave in the workplace', in newly unearthed 2011 interview

he billionaire, 78, made the assertion during a 2011 interview with PBS, which is now going viral amidst outrage over Bloomberg's other controversial remarks.

In the 2011 interview - conducted while he was serving a third term as New York City Mayor - Bloomberg attempted to a spruik a new initiative to enhance employment opportunities for young men.

He told interviewer Jeffrey Brown: 'There's this enormous cohort of black and Latino males, age, let's say, 16 to 25, that don't have jobs, don't have any prospects, don't know how to find jobs, don't know what their skill sets are, [and] don't know how to behave in the workplace where they have to work collaboratively and collectively'.

by Anonymousreply 195February 18, 2020 7:38 AM

^ Bloomberg said much worse than that R195. His racial profile recordings were released. He's racist and a realist. Ugly little old Jew. Buys his way in and out. Disgusting capitalist who put the final nail in NYC. Everything is a $$$ transaction to the tiny ole mayor. "He's richer than Trump but the same age as Bernie" is not a winning slogan. But a not bad strategy. I am anyone but Trump, but I do hope that Sanders is the nominee at this point. If he makes it against a 2 billion dollar Bloomberg campaign with a Streisand endorsement - won't that say something? Some Jews are for the people. People will come out for Bernie. As much as they say they won't, even Datalounge will. Bloomberg has tiny good intentions and a HUGE ego. We need a benevolent despot now. Not one of the richest men in the world. Sanders has grand intentions and a bit of time left. Barbra doesn't want to pay for that. She thinks her future puppy cloning foundation will suffer. Not to mention the Barbra Streisand Foundation for the Study of Barbra Streisand.

by Anonymousreply 196February 19, 2020 4:56 AM

R194, at the time of its closing, St. Vincent's was between $700 million and $1 billion in debt and was losing $5 to $10 million a month. What did Bloomberg have to do with this?

by Anonymousreply 204February 19, 2020 11:36 PM

R204, Bloomberg, the great businessman was now in charge of NYC, not only supposedly had the business acumen, but the responsibility as mayor to turn around the fortunes of the only hospital in the entire West Village--a hospital that served more people with AIDS than any other hospital in NYC during the epidemic. Instead, it was treated as losing business.

First of all, it's a hospital--it's not supposed to be profitable. It's supposed to be funded and supported. Instead, a real estate developer crony of Bloomberg's had the clearance to take it over. A mayor who's responsible doesn't see the only hospital in a large neighborhood in Manhattan close. He sees it through to being bailed out. He could have saved the hospital himself with the money he's spent on this fucking laughable, vanity Presidential run.

Bloomberg treated NYC as a business that was to turn profit.

Don't tell me, R204, Bloomberg had nothing to do with this. He allowed it to happen.

Nothing amuses me more than when some broken down DL queen cites the number of times someone has posted. First: who cares? Arguments are common on DL threads, in case you haven't noticed, and there are, after all, 226 comments on this thread alone. Second: to take the time to investigate who posted and how often--you're obsessed with me, R226! Calm down!

But tell me, since you're the ONLY one who uses it: what's the "z" about?

Oy! The choice for some of you people is between a billionaire former Republican, supposedly now a Democrat, former Mayor of New York, or a career politician, whose electoral history has been running as a candidate for of the Liberty Union Party, an independent or a member of the Socialist Worker's Party, supposedly now a Democrat (yet he just filed for his 2024 Senate senate reelection as an independent} Question: Doesn't the DNC require some sort of party membership/litmus test to get up on the podium at the debates? I mean, what's to prevent Trump from claiming to be a Democrat and joining the debate?

Streizand's younger ex lover and equally relevant Superstar - Mister Clint Eastwood is backing Bloomberg too! Stop & Frisk Twins.

I hope your nurse does her job this weekend R230. Assisted living homes can only provide so much support. God bless you on your journey. I pray that Jesus or some other jew delivers mercy to your troubled mind tonight. Peace gramps.

Oh, no R231, I'm actually 36 years old, living in NYC, and was suddenly put into a comatose state from boredom by your post.

by Anonymousreply 232February 23, 2020 12:43 AM

This is disappointing about Babs supporting Bloomie. Cher is supporting Biden too. These old divas and their money shall not part lol.

At least Dick Van Dyke is supporting Bernie.

And John Legend loves Liz.

Barbra Streisand praised his philanthropy. The OP and the article above feature clickbait titles that do not reflect the content of her Tweet. She does not support nor has she endorsed Bloomberg for President.

You're a liar R232. Your posts prove you to be a nasty bigoted ANCIENT white fag. You are at least 75 years old. May God grant you peace. Stay the fuck away from me or you'll be done like Barbara. That's a promise.

by Anonymousreply 235February 23, 2020 1:04 AM
Stay the fuck away from me or you'll be done like Barbara. That's a promise.

Oooh, you told him. I'm sure he is very afraid that you will reach through your computer and strangle him or something.

by Anonymousreply 236February 23, 2020 1:08 AM

Right, R236? LMFAO.

"Stay the fuck away," R235? I don't see any shine coming off your shiv, cunt.

by Anonymousreply 237February 23, 2020 1:10 AM

So, only the young support really old Bernie?

by Anonymousreply 238February 23, 2020 1:10 AM

Oh my God, I am stunned reading all of these attacks on my sister. After all she has done for you. She even let me sing with her at a few of her concerts. I am proud of her.

by Anonymousreply 239February 23, 2020 1:28 AM

Roz, I’m not nuts, you’re nuts.

by Anonymousreply 240February 23, 2020 3:01 AM

OMG, I didn't even know she had a sister! She looks just like her.
