How come he isn't a Datalounge icon? Seth Macfarlane was clearly visiting this site when creating him, Roger is the DL personified, right down to torturing a man for his pay-per-view code so that he could watch Barbra sing Celine Dion's greatest hits.
Roger is the most evil bitchy and shallow gay man I’ve ever seen in my life
by Anonymous | reply 1 | February 10, 2020 4:38 AM |
R1 Exactly, like I said, the Datalounge personified.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | February 10, 2020 4:40 AM |
He should be DL's mascot.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | February 10, 2020 4:44 AM |
I've never seen him before (I don't watch McFarlane's shows). Which cartoon is he on?
by Anonymous | reply 4 | February 10, 2020 4:46 AM |
The voice (especially in the earlier episodes) was based on Paul Lynde's voice.
It's still there but it's evolved somewhat over time.
For all I know Seth McFarlane could be Muriel, but the fact of the matter is, Lynde pre-dates Datalounge.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | February 10, 2020 4:48 AM |
I actually hear a lot of the DL comments I read in his voice.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | February 10, 2020 4:49 AM |
Love Roger, one of the best pansexual characters ever. Should be DL’s patron saint.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | February 10, 2020 4:51 AM |
Roger is totally Paul Lynde!
by Anonymous | reply 9 | February 10, 2020 4:51 AM |
R4 He's on American Dad, which is easily MacFarlane's funniest show. He's a sexually ambiguous alien that lives in a CIA agents attic and spends his days smoking, drinking, eating snack foods and watching Dynasty. That is, when he's not adopting one of his hundreds of fake identities to fuck with the lives of others outside of the house.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | February 10, 2020 4:55 AM |
Roger is the ultimate EST.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | February 10, 2020 4:56 AM |
He's an awesome cartoon character, he's definitely datalounges mascot.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | February 10, 2020 5:07 AM |
And he is pansexual and not bisexual because?
by Anonymous | reply 15 | February 10, 2020 6:26 AM |
R15 Yes. At one point he fucks the goldfish. The goldfish tops.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | February 10, 2020 6:55 AM |
by Anonymous | reply 17 | February 10, 2020 7:13 AM |
Now that American Dad has moved off of broadcast TV (from Fox to TBS) it has a lot more leeway with language and subject matter. And they're definitely taking advantage of it.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | February 10, 2020 4:30 PM |
Roger is a brilliant character with endless possibilities.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | February 10, 2020 7:44 PM |
R12 I give. What's EST?? Eastern Standard Time?
by Anonymous | reply 20 | February 10, 2020 7:49 PM |
I love Roger. He me if I had the balls the live my life like a true sociopath!
by Anonymous | reply 21 | February 10, 2020 7:50 PM |
Try that again:
I love Roger. He's me if I had the balls to live my life like a true sociopath!
by Anonymous | reply 22 | February 10, 2020 7:51 PM |
Bump

[quote]How come he isn't a Datalounge icon?
I adore Roger and there have been several threads about him on DL over the years.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | February 11, 2020 3:21 AM |
R4 I can’t stand Seth, but American Dad is pretty good. Much better than Family Guy.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | February 11, 2020 3:30 AM |
Roger as Julia Roberts in "Sleeping with the Enemy" was so unexpected and so hilarious.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | February 11, 2020 4:15 AM |
I love Roger. I watch the show just for that character.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | February 11, 2020 5:26 AM |
The "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?" parody was genius. My favorite Roger-centric episode is"The One That Got Away," where one of his personas splits off without his knowledge and sets up his own life.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | February 11, 2020 6:42 AM |
Haha..r13 that is my favorite! Economics!!!! I also love the one where he and Stan accidentally get high lol.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | February 11, 2020 6:45 AM |
R29 lol at his service rooster, Percy.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | February 11, 2020 1:35 PM |
r20 really? You must be new. EST = elaborate scenario troll.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | February 11, 2020 2:03 PM |
American Dad is the only McFarland show I've ever liked and it's because of Roger.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | February 11, 2020 2:14 PM |
you have to understand Family Guy is based on McFarlane's impressions of RI when he went to RISD.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | February 11, 2020 7:20 PM |
Roger is DL literally
by Anonymous | reply 38 | February 12, 2020 1:45 AM |
I still wish Seth Macfarlane was gay. He really should be one of us.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | February 12, 2020 4:19 AM |
R39 have you not heard of the Patrick Stewart rumours??
by Anonymous | reply 40 | February 12, 2020 10:03 AM |
I liked the one where Roger thought Stan was coming on to him so he got on his bed to the chorus of Toto's "I Won't Hold You Back."
by Anonymous | reply 41 | February 12, 2020 10:13 AM |
You will not be attending this abortion. The director's an idiot, the lead can barely speak English, and the second lead is 30 pounds overweight P.S. I'm the second lead, and I'm [italic]starving[/italic].
by Anonymous | reply 42 | February 12, 2020 12:46 PM |
R40, I thought we all agreed that it was Macfarlane who posted that on here? That was such a great thread...
by Anonymous | reply 43 | February 12, 2020 8:52 PM |
Roger as the Siamese cats from Lady and the Tramp.
by Anonymous | reply 44 | February 12, 2020 9:49 PM |
R43 I guess I didn't finish the thread lol
by Anonymous | reply 45 | February 12, 2020 11:40 PM |
My favorite has to be when Roger is pissed that Stan didn't get grenadine to make a Roy Rogers, so he makes Stan's life a living hell as Roy Rogers McFreely.
by Anonymous | reply 47 | February 12, 2020 11:52 PM |
Roger is the gay version of Family Guy's Brian the Dog.
He is Peak Datalounge and should 100% be the DLEG icon
by Anonymous | reply 48 | February 12, 2020 11:58 PM |
What are the rumours about Patrick Stuart and Seth MacFarlane? I've never heard anything about this before?
by Anonymous | reply 49 | February 13, 2020 12:11 AM |
This is my favorite Roger scene, and him at his most DLesque. (DLish?)
by Anonymous | reply 50 | February 13, 2020 12:12 AM |
Roger is my fav character ever. I am disgusted but entertainingly amused by him
by Anonymous | reply 51 | February 13, 2020 12:52 AM |
Roger is an embarrassment to the gay community. He demeans us.
You don't make an icon out of that.
Next thing you will want to make an icon out of someone who would wear blue jeans on the subway,
by Anonymous | reply 52 | February 13, 2020 1:45 AM |
I love Roger - but Stewie is really the original. So if one is the DL icon, it’s him.
by Anonymous | reply 53 | February 13, 2020 2:08 AM |
I like Squidward better.
by Anonymous | reply 54 | February 13, 2020 2:29 AM |
R55 omg holy shit
by Anonymous | reply 56 | February 13, 2020 3:15 AM |
R55 Was one of the best of all time. Roger is THE BEST!
by Anonymous | reply 57 | February 13, 2020 3:18 AM |
Roger would definitely be a datalounge poster
by Anonymous | reply 58 | February 13, 2020 3:21 AM |
He understands the importance of a good wig.
by Anonymous | reply 59 | February 13, 2020 3:23 AM |
LMAO r55.
by Anonymous | reply 60 | February 13, 2020 3:27 AM |
One of my favorite Roger moments - channeling Jodie Foster in THE ACCUSED and seeing his life flash before his eyes.
by Anonymous | reply 62 | February 13, 2020 3:38 AM |
Love Roger, but also love the wimpy Steve character and all his near-gay escapades with his nerdy friends.
by Anonymous | reply 63 | February 13, 2020 6:15 AM |
I adore the mom Francine...I like the fact they write her as smart and crazy as the other characters. She's not just the dumb wife/mom doormat.
I've always adored American Dad more than Family Guy because it had funnier writing and Roger. And, I think it's also because Seth MacFarlane doesn't run that show like he runs Family Guy. It was the other producers who were the show runners and THEIR sense of humor not MacFarlane's juvenile mean shit and moronic jokes.
by Anonymous | reply 64 | February 13, 2020 6:29 AM |
"Well, suck me off through a hole and call me Rick Steves!"
by Anonymous | reply 68 | February 13, 2020 2:58 PM |
I love [italic]Family Guy[/italic] but I just cannot get into this show, and I tried.
by Anonymous | reply 69 | February 13, 2020 4:17 PM |
[quote]What are the rumours about Patrick Stuart and Seth MacFarlane? I've never heard anything about this before?
We had a poster here once who said she was the girlfriend of a drug dealer to the stars and she had tons of tea to spill. The thread was moving really fast, I recall, but when she said Stewart let MacFarlane suck him off once, it crashed to a halt. She broke everyone's brain. It was fun.
My personal theory is that it was Seth MacFarlane himself, thinking he was being high-larious.
by Anonymous | reply 70 | February 13, 2020 4:22 PM |
Roger is a bonafide DL SUPERSTAR 💫
by Anonymous | reply 72 | February 13, 2020 6:20 PM |
Its the exact opposite for me r69. I have tried but just can't get into Family Guy at all.
by Anonymous | reply 73 | February 13, 2020 11:25 PM |
I never gave American Dad much of a chance, because I assumed it would be as rubbish as the later Family Guy seasons. But these clips have made me love Roger. I'm going to have to check out the show.
by Anonymous | reply 74 | February 13, 2020 11:54 PM |
The first few seasons are slow going R74. Season 1 was very much focused on Stan being a right wing nutjob and Hailey being a left wing hippie. Season 2 they start to branch out into some absurd episodes and then by Season 3 is when the show really gets into its groove
Ricky Spanish and Cops & Roger are my favorite episodes. I tried to think of my favorite Roger persona but there are too many, pretty much every one is hilarious.
by Anonymous | reply 75 | February 14, 2020 12:42 AM |
I like both AD and FG. Both have absolutely brilliant episodes every season. FG less so now but it still delivers. AD is actually better and, as the poster said above, it started really getting great around Season 3.
by Anonymous | reply 76 | February 14, 2020 2:54 AM |
American Dad’s jokes are much more mature, catty and evilly sophisticated than Family Guy’s. They are aimed at older and more mature viewers
by Anonymous | reply 77 | February 14, 2020 3:22 AM |
FG is more juvenile but when it hits, it hits hard. AD has Roger which is an almost unfair advantage.
by Anonymous | reply 78 | February 14, 2020 3:45 AM |
Stan is also really funny and the guy who plays Steve has a great singing voice. AD is one of my favorite animated shows.
by Anonymous | reply 79 | February 14, 2020 4:03 AM |
R79 They are all well written and often hysterical.
by Anonymous | reply 80 | February 14, 2020 4:04 AM |
People who like American Dad are the same ones that own Zunes and Betamax.
Give it up, your stuff sucks
by Anonymous | reply 81 | February 14, 2020 5:29 AM |
R63 I agree, they’re adorable and a riot; in a much gentler less obscene way than Roger but no less importantly. Toshi in particular is hilarious in his oblivious geekery.
by Anonymous | reply 82 | February 14, 2020 2:06 PM |
I love Stelio Kontos, the greek bully with his own theme song.
by Anonymous | reply 83 | February 14, 2020 3:35 PM |
R63, this was one of the funniest scenes I ever saw.
by Anonymous | reply 84 | February 14, 2020 4:28 PM |
For future reference, Roger, there is no Political Science Department at Harvard. They call it Government. One of those little quirks to weed out the imposters.
by Anonymous | reply 85 | February 14, 2020 4:45 PM |
Ironically, R81 is also posting from '81.
by Anonymous | reply 86 | February 14, 2020 4:46 PM |
What’s the back-story for why the CIA agent has an obnoxious alien in the attic?
by Anonymous | reply 87 | February 14, 2020 4:53 PM |
Stan originally harbored Roger as a life debt from when Roger helped Stan when they met when Roger was escaping Area 51. The CIA doesn't know that Stan has Roger.
by Anonymous | reply 88 | February 14, 2020 4:59 PM |
One of my favorite episodes is when Roger is being abused by a kid.
by Anonymous | reply 89 | February 14, 2020 5:00 PM |
To expand on R88, this is why Roger is always dressed in some crazy costume - he has to disguise himself so no one knows he's an alien
by Anonymous | reply 90 | February 14, 2020 7:52 PM |
Roger blowjob jokes. So nasty and vulgar 😱😂
by Anonymous | reply 91 | February 15, 2020 1:49 AM |
I’m amazed at the breadth & depth of pop-cultural knowledge the AD writer have. Are they simply a team of savant basement dwellers, or are they erudite and choosing to slum it in television comedy?
by Anonymous | reply 92 | February 15, 2020 4:54 PM |
The show introduced me to the slang melting pearls as in cumming.
by Anonymous | reply 93 | February 15, 2020 5:07 PM |
Roger does have female manners and behaviors when he’s in drag.
by Anonymous | reply 94 | February 15, 2020 6:58 PM |
I loved American Dad's parody of frau television.
by Anonymous | reply 95 | February 18, 2020 1:15 AM |
He could not be more of a DLer:
"As a shut-in, I only have two pleasures: Trash TV and booze."
by Anonymous | reply 96 | February 18, 2020 1:34 AM |
Squash.
by Anonymous | reply 98 | February 23, 2020 6:07 AM |
