Travolta sizzles and Newton-John smolders in this homage to the Rock Hudson/Doris Day sex romps.
Bad movie but Olivia and John look great, and the soundtrack is good.
by Anonymous | reply 1 | February 8, 2020 2:27 PM |
Do you think Olivia knew about John like Doris knew about Rock.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | February 8, 2020 2:29 PM |
I was barely out of diapers at that time and didn’t get to enjoy the hotness back then from these two. Funny though they both had a lot of chemistry with each other. Good looking closeted lez and gay man make cheesy movies with good soundtrack. What’s not to love?

[quote]Do you think Olivia knew about John like Doris knew about Rock.
Everybody knew about John.

I was 7 years old when this came out and was so excited to see it, being a Grease-loving little . I remember seeing it in the theater and being profoundly disappointed. Of course I bought the album and played it to death. It was the nail in Olivia’s movie career coffin.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | February 8, 2020 2:59 PM |
Gotta be a strange twist of fate.

You got that right!
by Anonymous | reply 7 | February 9, 2020 12:19 PM |
This is absolutely nothing like the Doris and Rock movies. What supernatural elements were in those films? Who is the Tony Randall character in Two of a Kind? Did Doris and Rock's characters meet during the commission of a crime?
Really, really bad movie.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | February 9, 2020 12:40 PM |
I still seek this movie out, but yeah, it didn’t go over well despite the stars being at the height of their respective beauty and the great soundtrack.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | February 9, 2020 12:45 PM |
I always find it funny that these two are held in high esteem.
He's a predatory evil closet gay.
She is a full on bitch that is hated by anybody who has ever worked with her.

Link to your Livvy claim, R10?
by Anonymous | reply 11 | February 9, 2020 2:40 PM |
Bad movie. But Olivia and John were so huge at the time. If you were a kid in the 70s, you loved them. I loved her voice. He's become like Nic Cage now. Still love Olivia. But can't stand seeing her Bride of Frankenstein daughter.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | February 9, 2020 2:45 PM |
John’s gayness can be seen from space in this music video they did for one of the songs in the soundtrack.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | February 9, 2020 3:12 PM |
Olivia is one of the nicest people in Hollywood. The fact that she's still good friends with people whom she worked with as a teenager in Australia speaks a lot to her.
She has a very tight circle of girlfriends including Didi Conn and Susan George.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | February 9, 2020 3:21 PM |
R10 total BS. Liv is beloved by the people who work with her and even on the internet, it's very hard to find people who make up bad things about her. I worked with her briefly on Soul Kiss the video and she was super, very professional but also very focused on what she wanted. My negative on her would be that she wasn't a very great mom to Chloe, but Matt takes the blame there as well.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | February 9, 2020 3:21 PM |
Olivia is a lesbian. Not sure if Doris day was gay. Likely.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | February 9, 2020 3:35 PM |
Why wasn't she a better mom? Her daughter is messed up royalty.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | February 9, 2020 3:44 PM |
The ONLY thing hotter than the heterosexual star chemistry in TWO OF A KIND was the hottest heterosexual star chemistry of all time in MOMENT BY MOMENT.

Hey r15. Why not ask the folks at (or were at) Blue Koala? She robbed everybody.
Try the cast of Xanadu. No love there.
Or try the folks involved in the faked death of her fiance that beloved O covered for?
Or try to explain the daughter. Great mom.
Also, ML is currently living in a tent.
What a great gal.

R15, did you apply body makeup to Lattanzi?
by Anonymous | reply 20 | February 9, 2020 4:21 PM |
They supposedly went through 'dozens' of scripts til they decided on this one. Oops.
They have chemistry, but it ain't sexual. Olivia is engaging in this, but John acts wooden- like he did in all movies opposite women.
He should stick to character roles or action pics.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | February 9, 2020 4:27 PM |
R19, oh where do we start. First Koala Blue was a business venture. Everyone went in buying a franchise. She didn't rip anyone off and she herself lost money. I knew some people who also worked on Xanadu and not a bad word there at all. As for Chloe, it was her absentee mothering skills. She would often go out with Matt for months at a time and leave her alone with nannys. It's not a recipe for a respectable childhood in Malibu. She was so career oriented that her daughter became an afterthought. In all fairness, part of Chloe's problem was that she was an unattractive child and had two incredibly beautiful parents. That sort of insecurity, even pre-internet, had to be terrible for her, which explains the plastic surgery addiction.
R20, no, I was a production associate on the video album. Olivia is a tough businesswoman when it comes to her career. She knows exactly what she wants. Almost every video for the Soul Kiss presentation was redone several times because she didn't like the way they came out.

John and Olivia said no to doing a "Grease" sequel but said yes to this stinkbomb, one of the worst movies of the '80s.

Travolta and Uma Thurman had great chemistry.
Speaking of two of a kind...

by Anonymous | reply 25 | February 9, 2020 4:46 PM |
Two of my current friends worked for Olivia.
She's a nightmare and I stand by my statements.
Oh and ML is still a gun nut living in a tent, the dead fiance is still very much alive (she has known all along) committing insurance fraud, and my dancer friends (Bobby Ball) have quite a different take on Xanadu.
Like Charlize Theron. Pretty on the outside..........

I was in 5th grade when this came out in December 1983. My dad took me to see it at the local mall 10 screen cinema. I love Twist of Fate, the big hit from the soundtrack.

Olivia is another lesbian who slept her way to stardom
by Anonymous | reply 29 | February 9, 2020 4:57 PM |
R26, well then state their cases. I also know many people who worked with her as well as worked at Olivia and Matt's house and all talk about her professionalism and generosity. But yes, she's tough. She had to be in order to get where she got. But she's also fair. Okay, your turn. Why is she a nightmare.
And yes, Matt was always a nut but Olivia was never one to have very smart people around her in the first place.

As a young actor, I worked as a stand-in and extra on "Two of a Kind." Even way back then, the whispers among crew members were that John was a homo and Olivia was a lez.

Considering Livvy is currently dying slowly and painfully from cancer, it seems in rather bad taste to go on and on about how unkind she supposedly was with people she worked with decades ago.

" First Koala Blue was a business venture. "
There were some people who lost their life's savings in that "business venture." And the only reason they invested in it was because it was associated with Olivia Newton John. How could it fail? Well, it did, miserably. So many people were screwed out of their money due to that "business venture." I'm sure Olivia Newton John was all broken up about THAT...not!

by Anonymous | reply 46 | February 10, 2020 1:04 AM |
R44, how is this failed business venture her fault? She didn't force anyone to invest and the stores failed not because of her but because there was no interest in an Australian boutique nationwide. Everyone who tried the franchise obviously thought it was a good idea at the time, but when it failed, she was an easy person to point to.

by Anonymous | reply 49 | February 10, 2020 1:47 AM |
Olivia invested her own money into Koala Blue and lost it all too.
There's nary a bad word about her from anyone who worked with her. That same poster was also saying Eddie Murphy was as bad as Mike Pence in another thread. Humor it.
by Anonymous | reply 50 | February 10, 2020 1:51 AM |
"how is this failed business venture her fault?"
Well, it never would have come to fruition if it hadn't had her name on it. And I'm sure she lost money because of it, but being extremely wealthy it posed no real hardship on her. The same could not be said for other investors who put their hard earned savings into it. She is definitely not blameless.
