[QUOTE]Team Biden long insisted that they were fine with how few people were showing up to see him. They were not. They tried to fill the rooms. It didn’t work. They learned to accept that the crowds would never come, and tried to build a campaign around never getting them. They failed.

If I have to read the "People of Color" line one more time from a Biden supporter.
The amusing part is that they forget that Hillary Clinton had a huge lead among back voters at this time back in 2008 until Obama started gaining in popularity. If we elected a President before the primaries of 2008, Hillary would have been it and who even knows if Biden would have gotten the VP slot. So this point they're constantly making doesn't make much sense because history has shown us that people's votes can change.
I think deep down inside, most Biden supporters know he really shouldn't be running, but they're scared shitless of anyone else getting the nomination because they're so convinced that only Biden can beat Trump. Between them and the Sanders supporters, it's turned into a fucking mess.

In New York, judges must retire at age 70. Even if they are in the midst of an elected term, when they turn 70, they are done. Being a judge is a walk in the park compared to being President of the United States.
It might be best to put a maximum age of 65, at the time of election. Then the oldest a POTUS would ever be is 73. Trump is deeply in the throes of mental decline. Reagan was, too, by the end of his term. We don't need it.

by Anonymous | reply 66 | February 7, 2020 3:35 PM |
Everyone is overlooking the obvious. What destroyed Biden wasn't age or lack of excitement; it was Trump's Ukraine bullshit. Anyone with sense knows there was no real scandal. Rich kids/kids of famous people get offers to make more money than they ever would based on their own talent? Shocking! If Ukraine had actually "investigated" and the whole thing had remained behind the scenes it would have been corrupt and a president abusing his power, but it also wouldn't have led to anything useful.
If the DOJ had openly investigated Biden or Congress had held Bengazi style hearings, Biden would have come out clean because there wasn't any dirt to find. The way impeachment played out, however, with Biden consistently being casually referenced as having done "shady" crap but never in a fashion that would allow for a exoneration tainted him. It was guilt by association without any guilt.
The ultimate irony of the whole impeachment thing was Trump, who was absolutely without a doubt guilty of all the things he was charged with and more, came out stronger, while the guy Trump was trying to get rid of in the first place got absolutely destroyed in a deeper and more effective way than they ever dreamed.

Republicans want illegals for very cheap labor for their donors. They want to give them amnesty but not citizenship so that illegals can continue to work for their donors poorly w/o voting
Democrats want illegals for cheap labor too but also want to give them citizenship because most Latino vote for Democrats.
So both parties actually importing poverty from the third world countries. I don't blame poor people impoverished countries who want to come to USA for a better life.
However lower middle class and poor people of the USA have to share resources with these poor illegals.. Not to mention depression in wages they cause
Rich and upper-middle-class are not affected by this. In fact they are benefited by this . So they are happy for this continuous inflow.

No. Immigrants WORK; they drive cabs and mow lawns and nail roofs and sling hash and work in factories and warehouses and clean motel rooms.
Americans get SSI, disability and welfare/SNAP.

I don't know about 2016. He was looking at a race where Clinton had already locked up a fair amount of establishment support.
by Anonymous | reply 137 | February 12, 2020 8:58 PM |
I think its hilarious that Joe Biden thinks he was a big part of Obama winning. Bitch, Obama won, you were the white dude who played the role of babysitter for older white folks on the fence.
He is a creature of Washington. Nothing wrong with that. They get shit done. But elections are a different animal. And he's not an election animal. His campaign is a humiliating mess. He had years to study up, learn the ground, hire some good people who could teach him how to be a politician in 2020 and spoon feed him, and he chose to sit behind his desk and make phone calls to billionaires, union leaders, and party hacks for three years. If he had put in the work and had ended up under 10%, I would have felt it was sad. I'm not sad. He doesn't deserve to be doing better than he's done. His entire platform is "lets undo Trump, this was a horrible quirk". He has no idea people were angry and fed up with Washington. (Trump being a dangerous moron is besides the point)
by Anonymous | reply 138 | February 12, 2020 9:01 PM |
His dismal preparation and performance in this campaign underscores how little he had to do for decades to keep getting re-elected in Delaware, the 45th smallest state in the Union, population under a million. Now he has competition. And he is not able to keep up.
He NEVER would have been the Senator from New York or California. He never would have gotten himself noticed. New York City has 8.5 times the population of Delaware. Biden might not have even been elected Mayor. And is never going to be President, either.
by Anonymous | reply 139 | February 12, 2020 9:56 PM |
It's not that he suddenly has found all sorts of passion for the campaign, but that you're seeing his anger and frustration that he hasn't pretty much locked up the nomination by now.
by Anonymous | reply 140 | February 12, 2020 10:15 PM |
No time in the history of America has there been groundswell of support for a Biden presidency. Not now, not in 2008 and not ever in the years before. The excitement needle barely wavered when he announced he was running.
If he is the Democrat candidate I will vote for him. I will vote for any D candidate. It's just dispiriting that during the most corrupt, inept and evil presidency in living memory, the Democrats can't find a strong uniting candidate.

Biden is a hero. We all love him. But his time is better spent looking back on his years of service with pride. And the endorsing the nominee. He’s just embarrassing himself now. And hunter is a mine field.

r145, politics is about competing. You blame Hillary for being a strong competitor? Would you have said to Michael Phelps that he shouldn’t be so “selfish” in the ‘08 Beijing relay? Give me a break! Politics is about WINNING, and to win, one must compete. Hillary, love her or hate her, is super competitive. Hillary fought to run, BFD.

by Anonymous | reply 149 | February 15, 2020 4:39 AM |
Politics is about connecting to the voter R148, which Hillary didn't do. Campaigning is not a part time job. Every state is an important state regardless if you are going to win it. You are setting up the future of your party.
by Anonymous | reply 150 | February 15, 2020 5:42 AM |
r150 Actually what youre suggesting is not politically viable. But we now know Hillary's campaign purposely stayed out of Michigan and Wisconsin because they didn't want to fire up Trump voters. Its disgusting to think they thought if they stayed below the radar they could win by default.

by Anonymous | reply 154 | February 17, 2020 10:40 AM |
Joe just did the inevitable: he got old. Elderly, to be exact.
Nobody remembers anything he did, and he hasn't put forth any ideas to ignite voters' fervor.
I was for him, and could still be, as the candidate of cohesion, the returner of reason, the defender of democracy.
But there is no person with passion. What are Joe's core beliefs that he would fight for, would exhort US to fight for?
Voters want to be motivated, to be stirred (not shaken, haha), to be emotionally involved enough to call others, to knock on doors, to deviate from their daily routines---for this one person above all.
Bernie gets that "exhortation and excitation" idea.
But the only candidate now who recognizes and is attacking the real enemy, and I do mean real and I do mean enemy, is Bloomberg.
Thanks for nothing, Joe, for going after Mayor Mike instead of the traitors in our midst.
Too many Democrats are arguing over C-rations when the other side's tanks are in a pincer movement.
Force Trump to the bunker first, and then we'll talk the spoils of victory.

Of course it is viable R151. Did you not hear people complaining they felt she (Hillary) didn't care because she didn't take the time to campaign in their state? Why do you think a lot of dems voted for Trump? If these current candidates blow off people we are going to have another 4 years of Trump.

Hasn't every Dem. candidate been subjected to this accusation, after the Russiapublicans go through their trash cans of the past 40 years?

R82, And ten bucks gets you a Diet Coke. "Experience" lost the last time, remember? "The Most Qualified Ever." And if it was Russian hacking, well, it's not like Russia has gone anywhere, is it?
People want to know what the POINT of Joe now is? If he had a smart team (where, by the by, is Dr. Jill?), Biden would be advised to attack Trump. Find a reason in the next Democratic debate to look at the camera and ask:
"Michigan, are you drinking clean water yet? Do you know that Donald Trump just opened up more of America's waterways to pollution?"
"Wisconsin, are you struggling to keep your family farms? Do you know that Donald Trump's tariffs on China encouraged your biggest client to buy from other countries?"
"Pennsylvania, are you confident that you can depend on your Social Security and Medicare? Do you know that Donald Trump and Mitch McConnell have just announced that both programs must be cut?"
Take the fight to the enemy. Let the people see and hear clearly who that is.

R159, Poor Joe, hopping onto a train that doesn't go to the White House.
"Inter-sexed" is a thing. "Transgender" is not a thing. Media (Caitlyn, Jazz, Laverne Cox, etc.) propaganda doesn't make a lie the truth, though it can lead to its popular acceptance as such.
Funny; Phil Spector, Lyle Menendez, and Michael Millken couldn't keep their wigs on in prison, but had they claimed transgenderism they could be sitting in a women's prison with wig and makeup.

Not ANYONE can beat him this time - please Democrats - don't mess it up and nominate someone the people don't want!!!

They have to take the "Trump's Economy WOW!" thang away from Dotard- or they can't win. They have to prove he's had nothing to do with the good economy (quite the opposite); that the Recovery started in 2012; that he doesn't know what he's doing; that the national debt has increased horrifically under him; that no one can survive and thrive on $12.00/hr. McJobs; that we can't afford more of his egregious mistakes.
Pete could shred him over that.

Biden lost by repeatedly saying "Let's just play nice. WHen I'm president, we'll work with Republicans and get things done." Ummm, who is he kidding? Republicans will NOT work with anyone but themselves, especially if they lose control of the Senate. Also, most of us are WAY past the "let's be nice to one another" nonsense. Dems need to fight hard, get dirty, and take no prisoners this time. No more being the nice guys. Biden seems to think that trump is the only problem in DC. In fact, career politicians like McConnell and Graham paved the way for trump.
