Where is Sharon Stone's money coming from?

I was watching this recent interview with Sharon Stone and was curious how she continues to live such a luxurious life. Her Beverly Hills home is gorgeous.

How can she afford this kind of lifestyle when she hasn't had a high-profile job in over a decade?

by Anonymousreply 195March 20, 2021 6:26 PM

She was once so beautiful. Father Time is a cruel master.

by Anonymousreply 1February 2, 2020 7:03 PM

Are you kidding? She's still gorgeous and doesn't appear to have had any awful work done on herself. I'm sure she's probably had something done, but it's been tasteful. She still works every now and then. Just not in big Hollywood movies, because the movies she used to make aren't being made by the big studios anymore.

by Anonymousreply 2February 2, 2020 7:07 PM

She’s worth $60 million. She’s probably more conservative than you think. Paid cash for the house back in the day. She gets checks for her movies playing on TV etc. also I’m sure she’s stretching out that Basic Instinct sequel payday

Salary

Basic Instinct 2 (2006) $13,600,000

Last Dance (1996) $6,000,000

Diabolique (1996) $6,000,000

Casino (1995) $2,000,000

The Specialist (1994) $5,000,000

Intersection (1994) $5,000,000

Sliver (1993) $2,500,000

by Anonymousreply 3February 2, 2020 7:08 PM

You have to admit, she's a great interview.

by Anonymousreply 4February 2, 2020 7:10 PM

If she invested well, it's not impossible at all. Hell, her paydays for just one of her movies is probably more than most of us receive in a lifetime.

by Anonymousreply 5February 2, 2020 7:11 PM

Why doesn't Ryan Murphy throw her a bone? She could take up where Jessica Lange left off. She's aged a lot better than Lange.

by Anonymousreply 6February 2, 2020 7:13 PM

She looks damn good and most importantly she looks like a pretty, older version of her younger self. Compare her with Madge it’s not even close who aged better and looks better.

by Anonymousreply 7February 2, 2020 7:16 PM

If she invested her total above income conservatively and drew a 4% interest, that's 1.6 million a year. Not too shabby if she has no mortgage.

I like her.

by Anonymousreply 8February 2, 2020 7:20 PM

She legally adopted an elderly lady who was a millionaire. Yes Really.

by Anonymousreply 9February 2, 2020 7:23 PM

Didn't she get proceeds from hundreds of editions of Basic Instinct in all these years?

by Anonymousreply 10February 2, 2020 7:33 PM

She probably gets paid to attend events as well.

by Anonymousreply 11February 2, 2020 7:36 PM

Many rich people invest well and never have to work again. She is one.

by Anonymousreply 12February 2, 2020 7:38 PM

The elderly adoptee gives her money.

by Anonymousreply 13February 2, 2020 7:38 PM

Receipts, please, R9/R13.

by Anonymousreply 14February 2, 2020 7:41 PM

She's a huge star in China. People line up on streets to see her.

by Anonymousreply 15February 2, 2020 7:46 PM

Stone probably invested very well over the years and, because she was in her thirties when she finally made it, most likely had a lot more restraint than many other actors who find fame at a far younger age.

by Anonymousreply 16February 2, 2020 7:48 PM

The thing I remember most about her was that her husband had his toe bitten off by a giant lizard.

by Anonymousreply 17February 2, 2020 7:52 PM

She's a middle age prostitute.

by Anonymousreply 18February 2, 2020 7:52 PM

R18 = Madge

by Anonymousreply 19February 2, 2020 7:55 PM

Wasn't she married to the publisher of a newspaper who was very wealthy - maybe the divorce got her some mo ey

by Anonymousreply 20February 2, 2020 7:57 PM

You don't say, r18! Well, in that case she looks fantastic for a thousand-year-old, and she's probably living off the solid-gold ducats she got for deep-throating Charlemagne.

by Anonymousreply 21February 2, 2020 7:57 PM

She's a drug baroness.

by Anonymousreply 22February 2, 2020 7:59 PM

Gee OP, imagine that! Someone who has made 10’s of millions in her life is wealthy. How DID she do it?

by Anonymousreply 23February 2, 2020 8:05 PM

Also- hand in hand: maybe she’s not a drug addict/alchy? Would explain keeping her money and looks.

by Anonymousreply 24February 2, 2020 8:11 PM

I saw her at the Polo Lounge a couple months ago and didn't immediately realize it was her, but was struck by how sexy and alluring she was. Then my friends was like "Hey, that was Sharon Stone."

by Anonymousreply 25February 2, 2020 8:14 PM

R16, that's probably true. She really did have to work hard to get where she got in the 90s by taking crappy roles in crappy movies. She probably knew by the time she got Basic Instinct and Casino that to be in films like this was very rare and she should savor the moment and save wisely.

It always did surprise me that, considering how beautiful she was, it took her so long to break into the mainstream. You'd think her looks alone would have made it easier for her, but it took her role in Basic Instinct to finally hit the mainstream.

by Anonymousreply 26February 2, 2020 8:26 PM

Miss Stone collects fees hosting gala events, doing speaking engagements, and making appearances all over the world. It's a very lucrative side business.

by Anonymousreply 27February 2, 2020 8:40 PM

R4 she really is. She’s always been refreshingly self aware and has that wry wit. And yes r11 r27 was going to add this as well — she may have invested well but she’s still making good money. The French love her.

by Anonymousreply 28February 2, 2020 8:44 PM

What's it to you, OP?

by Anonymousreply 29February 2, 2020 8:51 PM

Maybe she's frugal, like when she wore the Gap shirt to the Oscars. Her clothing looks classic, like she's had the same pieces for years or decades.

by Anonymousreply 30February 2, 2020 8:54 PM

R30 plus we know she borrows jewelry and never returns it. I guess that saved her some cash as well.

by Anonymousreply 31February 2, 2020 8:59 PM

She had married a rich man, did you forget?

by Anonymousreply 32February 2, 2020 9:00 PM

Her granddaughter, Emma Stone, gives her an allowance.

by Anonymousreply 33February 2, 2020 9:06 PM

I adore her and everything about her. the only thing that could diminish that is if I found out she kicked puppies.

and then I would still want to hear if the puppy shit on her pillow

by Anonymousreply 34February 2, 2020 9:07 PM

I think her comment “you can only sleep your way to the middle” sums up her early attempts to make it in Hollywood. Don’t get me wrong I think she does have a certain amount of talent, but in many ways she was just another generic blonde.

It wasn’t until Casino that she showed any real range in a movie.

by Anonymousreply 35February 2, 2020 9:34 PM

She had a rent controlled apartment on the UES of Manhattan for years. But her landlord was finally able to prove to a housing court judge that it wasn't her primary residence and got an eviction order.. She fought it tooth and nail for awhile but finally gave up and moved out.

by Anonymousreply 36February 2, 2020 10:14 PM

That's hilarious, R36.

by Anonymousreply 37February 2, 2020 10:18 PM

R36 I think you’re confusing her w Faye Dunaway.

by Anonymousreply 38February 2, 2020 10:26 PM

She struggled For years and didn’t become rich overnight. Most agencies also align their talent with business Managers to invest and put them on an allowance so they have plenty of dough in the elder years. She’s a little crazy IRL bit looks amazing.

by Anonymousreply 39February 2, 2020 10:29 PM

R33, Emma Stone is her niece, not her granddaughter.

by Anonymousreply 40February 2, 2020 10:30 PM

^ I have to hang my head in shame and correct the above. I had the story right but it was Faye Dunaway, not Stone, who was evicted from her UES apartment.

by Anonymousreply 41February 2, 2020 10:32 PM

I’ve heard rumours that Dunaway was nearly destitute until some unnamed benefactor stepped in and helped her out financially.

by Anonymousreply 42February 2, 2020 10:38 PM

Some stars are just in a position where their able to pull $$ out of their no where.

If you save wisely and put plenty of $$ away. You'll be fine financially. And just like some posters above stated. Sharon was in her 30s when she finally made it in Movies on a mainstream level. So she knew how long and hard she had work to get to where she finally reached. So when the big $$ started coming in she had restraint with her finances and didn't go crazy spending everything she earned.

Being sick and having to worry about $$ would be hell. But she's in a good place economically, so she can be sick in peace.

Hope all is well with sharon.

by Anonymousreply 43February 2, 2020 10:46 PM

Someone started a thread like this on sharon when this CBS Sunday morning interview first aired.

Why another one?

Someone on this site seems to be obsessed with sharon's finances.

by Anonymousreply 44February 2, 2020 10:48 PM

If someone can be obsessed with Jeanine Garofalo's wig, then another someone is justified in being obsessed with Sharon Stone's finances.

by Anonymousreply 45February 2, 2020 10:56 PM

loved her as the clueless wife in "Action Jackson". She should have won an Oscar for that.

by Anonymousreply 46February 2, 2020 10:57 PM

I adore Sharon Stone. I wish she were starring in some glossy but well-written prime time soap opera playing a rich, powerful, scheming bitch.

by Anonymousreply 47February 2, 2020 11:04 PM

She has a high IQ. The woman wore a man's shirt to the Oscars once- she's tight with a buck:

"In 1998, Sharon Stone decided to forgo this entire process and simply opted for her then husband’s simple Gap button-up shirt for her Oscar attire. Of course, she styled it in the most polished way possible with a lavender Vera Wang silk skirt, but the fashion choice still came as quite the shock to red carpet fashion critics."

by Anonymousreply 48February 2, 2020 11:07 PM

She's gifted in comedy. She also has major star power (the "it" factor).

by Anonymousreply 49February 2, 2020 11:07 PM

Ryan Murphy should have cast her in his new Hollywood series for Netflix. She would have been perfect for that.

It would have been interesting to see her play Joan Crawford in Feud.

by Anonymousreply 50February 2, 2020 11:16 PM

You can see from her interviews that she is a lot more intelligent than former sex symbol movie star. She also doesn’t come across as fake or putting on an act, and if she is then she’s a fantastic actress for it.

by Anonymousreply 51February 2, 2020 11:34 PM

She’s batshit crazy and this interview is old.

by Anonymousreply 52February 2, 2020 11:41 PM

I loved her in Law and Order SUV. But in an interview she hated doing it. She seems a smart lady. Paid to attend functions and was married to a rich husband.

by Anonymousreply 53February 2, 2020 11:42 PM

There was an episode on the TV shoe Episodes -- v good, btw -- in which David Schwimmer and Matt LeBlanc were paid a million dollars to attend the party of the head of some corrupt dictator. It was fictionalized, but I'm sure that type of stuff happens all the time. I'm sure some Arab oil billionaires pay to fly in celebrities.

by Anonymousreply 54February 2, 2020 11:46 PM

She does seem like she was probably a savvy investor.

Remember she didn’t really have big success until she was at least 35 years old. She was probably used to saving and spending frugally by that point in her life, and didn’t go crazy with blowing her money when she made it big.

by Anonymousreply 55February 2, 2020 11:49 PM

R53, I can guess why she hated it--they were basically asking her to act like Catherine Tramell again. The ice-cold, no nonsense bitch.

by Anonymousreply 56February 3, 2020 12:06 AM

Her name sounds like one of The Flintstones characters.

by Anonymousreply 57February 3, 2020 12:13 AM

She married mega millionaire.

How can you supposedly know the lifestyle she leads, but you don’t even know her basic history?

You clearly don’t really care about her.

by Anonymousreply 58February 3, 2020 12:18 AM

r57, when The Flintstones was being made into a movie (1994), the character played by Halle Berry was originally going to be named Rosetta Stone, but TPTB thought most of the audience wouldn't get the joke, so they changed her name to Sharon Stone.

by Anonymousreply 59February 3, 2020 12:40 AM

R6 He has: she’ll have a role on Ratched, Murphy’s new Netflix show.

by Anonymousreply 60February 3, 2020 1:56 AM

Men pay to sleep with her.

by Anonymousreply 61February 3, 2020 2:35 AM

Didn't she receive some sort of settlement after a giant lizard devoured her husband?

by Anonymousreply 62February 3, 2020 2:38 AM

Sharon has had a pretty damn good career, especially for someone who has limited range. She bought that home in Beverly Hills 25+ years ago, at the peak of her fame. I'm sure it's been long paid-off. She is a smart woman, so it's reasonable to assume she has invested her money well. I don't know if she owns multiple properties, but it's common for people in her position to invest in real estate, which provides an ironclad income; any acting gigs she gets are just sugar on top—spending money.

by Anonymousreply 63February 3, 2020 2:38 AM

She needs to do more comedic roles.

by Anonymousreply 64February 3, 2020 2:39 AM

R42 Intriguing if true. I wonder who the benefactor was (assuming it's not just a rumor )

by Anonymousreply 65February 3, 2020 2:41 AM

She has a place outside of Tucson. My partner has a colleague who lives on the next property. She’s rarely there.

by Anonymousreply 66February 3, 2020 2:50 AM

She did very well with her divorce from Bronstein. He's worth $100+ million.

by Anonymousreply 67February 3, 2020 2:58 AM

Her divorce settlement was north of 80 million.

by Anonymousreply 68February 3, 2020 3:01 AM

Did Sharon receive advice from Amy Irving for her divorce settlement?

by Anonymousreply 69February 3, 2020 3:02 AM

She has three young Sons to support.

by Anonymousreply 70February 3, 2020 3:07 AM

She has been through a lot of adversity.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 71February 3, 2020 3:09 AM

R70 She probably only has to worry about supporting the two sons that she adopted on her own. The oldest son probably receives money directly from Bronstein

by Anonymousreply 72February 3, 2020 3:15 AM

She's got a killer scene in the new season of The New Pope. Very funny

by Anonymousreply 73February 3, 2020 3:18 AM

Isn't she supposed to have a genius-level intellect, like Geena Davis and Madonna?

by Anonymousreply 74February 3, 2020 3:19 AM

Just because you are a genius doesn't mean you have common sense R74. BTW, genius is relative.

by Anonymousreply 75February 3, 2020 3:22 AM

Madonna is not “genius-level”. She can’t even string together a coherent sentence on Twitter.

by Anonymousreply 76February 3, 2020 3:32 AM

I thought it was incredibly insensitive to reveal to the world that her son has extremely stinky feet. He was just a young boy at the time.

by Anonymousreply 77February 3, 2020 3:35 AM

Agreed, r76. I dare say Madonna is a confirmed non-genius.

by Anonymousreply 78February 3, 2020 3:38 AM

R76, She most certainly is. Madonna could have been a top doctor or scientist if she had gone to college.

by Anonymousreply 79February 3, 2020 3:38 AM

R79, many on here will laugh at you for posting that but I agree. Seymour Stein once said that he didn't have a favorite artist at Sire but it would be difficult to think of an artist smarter than Madonna. Obviously, this doesn't extend to her personal life, but lots of people are stupid in love and smart outside of that.

by Anonymousreply 80February 3, 2020 3:59 AM

Madonna is only 50 millions away from being a billionaire. Her wealth is only at $950 millions. Poor girl

by Anonymousreply 81February 3, 2020 4:02 AM

How did Bronstein get rich? Isn't he a newspaper guy?

by Anonymousreply 82February 3, 2020 4:59 AM

R74 it was revealed she lied about her IQ (like she did a lot of things), but it’s clear from interviews she’s very sharp and quick — and like we’ve all said she has a healthy self-awareness. I’ve always liked her.

I’m skeptical that Bronstein was ever worth that much — where are we getting this from ?

by Anonymousreply 83February 3, 2020 5:15 AM

Gold coins fall out of her cunt every couple of weeks

by Anonymousreply 84February 3, 2020 5:19 AM

R83 didn't she claim to be in Mensa? I've never understood why she tried to lie about that. It has also been repeated in the press for years that she is a type 1 diabetic, but she claims this is untrue, so I have no idea how that got started either (I wouldn't be surprised if she lied about it at some point too). The dubious stuff aside, you can tell in interviews that she intelligent and incisive.

by Anonymousreply 85February 3, 2020 5:21 AM

Poor Sharon. She is our Princess Diana.

by Anonymousreply 86February 3, 2020 5:26 AM

She may not be a genius but she's quite smart. I met her on the set of a TV show years ago and she was very articulate and witty. She's also much taller than I had imagined. That said,

I think she's a really bad actress, with enunciation that seems to come out of the RKO Elocution Dept. circa 1954. I never believed a single character she played.

Does anyone know why Phil Bronstein was awarded full custody of their son?

by Anonymousreply 87February 3, 2020 5:27 AM

I met her about ten years or so ago in WEHO. She's very statuesque and beautiful. She was also really nice to me (I'm female) but someone I know worked with her, or tried to, and said she can be very hard assed about money and making deals, but why shouldn't she be, was my question.

by Anonymousreply 88February 3, 2020 6:15 AM

She is amazing in Casino.

There used to be a website dedicated to the mystery of her neck scar. It looks like someone tried to behead her. I think she's claimed it was a horse riding accident. But no one believes that because how would a horse give someone a scar that looks like someone tried to behead them?

by Anonymousreply 92February 3, 2020 10:39 AM

wasn't there a phase where she was a cokehead, alchie, mentally ill, then a brain haemorrhage and stroke? She certainly pulled it together again.

What I don’t get is people like Ellen Pompeo who make $20 million a year for a show that has been on TV for 20 years and have a net worth of twice that. It seems impossible—but famous people often pay tons of their money to managers, agents, assistants, stylist, and other staff, and also squander a lot of money.

Maybe after Sharon’s zeitgeist, she couldn’t get work and so she had to lay off her staff and decided to sit on the cash she has. She is said to be a smart person.

by Anonymousreply 96February 3, 2020 11:28 AM

I follow her on Instagram. She is always in Europe hosting an event. They adore her over there. She must make bank on stuff like that. She is kind of crazy and a known liar but I love her anyway. Mosaic was pretty good.

by Anonymousreply 97February 3, 2020 11:37 AM

She does beauty ads, doesn't she?

by Anonymousreply 98February 3, 2020 12:12 PM

Oh no R53. She was awful on SVU! Ms. Stone can only pull off certain roles and an assistant district attorney isn't one of them. Sure, the writing was crap but so was her acting. She was amazing in Casino and Basic Instinct. She is a gorgeous, classy lady that's for sure.

by Anonymousreply 99February 3, 2020 12:37 PM

Classy?

by Anonymousreply 100February 3, 2020 12:41 PM

R99, she was awful because it was basically her acting like her Basic Instinct character all over again.

by Anonymousreply 101February 3, 2020 12:44 PM

R92, I believe the claim is that she was thrown from a horse and the reins got wrapped around her neck and she was was dragged.

by Anonymousreply 102February 3, 2020 12:45 PM

Some folks said she was struggling before Basic Instinct, but the struggle is relative. She was getting a decent amount of work and probably making a nice living. Sure she did some low-budget dreck but she also did TV movies and had supporting roles in Hollywood movies. Plus she did some national commercials. Nowadays that can be good money even for unknown actors, though I'm not sure if that was true in the 80s.

by Anonymousreply 103February 3, 2020 1:11 PM

She was the Charlie girl.

by Anonymousreply 104February 3, 2020 1:12 PM

I’ve heard stories that she escorted and used the casting couch before she got her big break. And most horrifically, she’s alleged to have slept with Steven Seagal, so she could play his wife in that shitty movie he did.

They're exactly the same age, too. Sharon knew how to get work done the right way, just a subtle eye job and chin/neck lift, some discreet Restalyne or Botox. She looks fabulous. Madonna went overboard in a vain attempt to look 25 again and it's been a disaster.

by Anonymousreply 117February 3, 2020 3:22 PM

R117 One movie critic pointed out years ago that Catherine Deneuve was able to sustain a far longer career than many of her American counterparts such as Liz Taylor, despite Taylor being the stronger actress. I'm part because of a dearth of parts for older women in Hollywood. I'm still a fan of the wonderful Deneuve but staying in France helped her

by Anonymousreply 118February 3, 2020 3:53 PM

In part, not I'm part

by Anonymousreply 119February 3, 2020 3:57 PM

Taylor is the better actress than Deneuve? Really? I don't know about that Deneuve also maintained her looks better than Taylor did. She still looks stunning now. Plus, she's not a corpse.

by Anonymousreply 120February 3, 2020 3:57 PM

Charlotte Rampling still working too...

by Anonymousreply 121February 3, 2020 3:58 PM

She is very striking and has a look reminiscent of old Hollywood. I can see why the French love her. She probably reminds them of Deneuve

by Anonymousreply 122February 3, 2020 4:02 PM

R120 Well this was the critics opinion. I think they are both quite good but I do believe Deneuve was able to play a wider and more diverse variety of parts by staying in France.

by Anonymousreply 123February 3, 2020 4:03 PM

Has she had any success after Basic Instinct? Maybe Casino.

Per the article at R86 Sharon said she had to refinance her home do to her stroke in 2001. She said it took her 7 years to recover, but she was working throughout her recovery. I guess rich poor is different from middle class poor or poor poor.

by Anonymousreply 129February 3, 2020 6:33 PM

I've always loved her. She strikes me as being a lot smarter than some would think and, like other have said, she has a healthy sense of humor and seems self-aware, which is extremely attractive. Most people who look like her, don't have those things. It might also be why, whatever surgery she has had, has been very tasteful and has just made her look like a refreshed, beautiful older woman instead of some overinflated blow up doll.

by Anonymousreply 130February 3, 2020 7:49 PM

It is pretty amazing one stinking movie made her...she is world famous for one movie and maybe Casino. Shit doesn't really happen like that anymore. She truly was the most beautiful movie star of the 90's...and she is from Palookaville, Pennsylvania which to me seems about as far away from breeding grounds of great beauties.. as er.. just about anywhere.

by Anonymousreply 131February 3, 2020 7:55 PM

She also slept with Harvey Weinstein back in the mid 1980s.

by Anonymousreply 132February 3, 2020 8:05 PM

Are she and Mimi Craven still fuck buddies?

by Anonymousreply 133February 3, 2020 8:42 PM

She's a racist bitch. Racist against Asians at least.

She said the earthquake in China was their "karma" she also made her Filipino housekeepers eat in their rooms because she said the stench of Filipino food was so disgusting.

I wonder what she thinks of the coronavirus?

by Anonymousreply 134February 3, 2020 8:49 PM

I can’t believe that she is racist against Asians. One of Sharon’s regular clients during her early 1980s hooker days was a Japanese banker.

by Anonymousreply 135February 3, 2020 10:01 PM

r134, neither of your examples are necessarily racist. The "karma" remark could be referring to China's authoritarian policies. And some cultural recipes, such as those of the Philippines, are very odoriferous.

by Anonymousreply 136February 3, 2020 10:05 PM

Grandes Dames like Stone and Deneuve are treated like royalty in France. I doubt they pay for a thing, comped rooms at Ritz...restaurant tabs, car and driver.

by Anonymousreply 137February 3, 2020 10:48 PM
she also made her Filipino housekeepers eat in their rooms because she said the stench of Filipino food was so disgusting.

She's fucking right about that. They eat some nasty shit.

by Anonymousreply 138February 3, 2020 11:26 PM

They were eating bat curry.

by Anonymousreply 139February 4, 2020 2:26 AM

She divorced well.

"She's a racist bitch. Racist against Asians at least.

She said the earthquake in China was their "karma" she also made her Filipino housekeepers eat in their rooms because she said the stench of Filipino food was so disgusting."

Don't be stupid. She's just against what China is doing to Tibet. And Filipino food does smell a little intense.

by Anonymousreply 141February 4, 2020 3:00 AM

Has anyone seen the Bob Dylan documentary about his Rolling Thunder concert tour in the 1970’s? They interviewed Stone for it. She joined the tour as an assistant costumer and Dylan has some lovely things to say about her.

by Anonymousreply 142February 4, 2020 3:38 AM

She had several high-profile endorsement deals for companies like Dior.

by Anonymousreply 143February 4, 2020 3:45 AM

Did she invest well?

by Anonymousreply 144February 4, 2020 3:49 AM

R92 I remember that site!

I miss the weird random websites that existed before everyone just used social media.

by Anonymousreply 145February 4, 2020 3:52 AM

Geez, it’s her house and they’re her employees. If the food stinks it stinks, she probably wouldn’t let a fat White Frau make Tuna Salad in the kitchen either.

by Anonymousreply 146February 4, 2020 3:56 AM

Do you think Sharon would go on The Masked Singer?

by Anonymousreply 147February 4, 2020 3:57 AM

r142, I'm afraid that's a bit of fakery on the part of Dylan, Stone and director Martin Scorsese:

The Filipina live-in nanny claimed that Stone banned her from reading the bible in her home and ordered her not to speak in front of the children so that they won't end up talking like her. How the heck was she supposed to communicate with them, by sign language? Stone allegedly also accused the nanny of "stealing" after Stone discovered she was collecting overtime pay for working on weekends and holidays and while traveling with the children.

by Anonymousreply 149February 4, 2020 4:11 AM

Everyone bashing her, but she’s nutty and just doing what nutty people do. She’s still better than any of the new supposed actresses nowadays.

by Anonymousreply 150February 4, 2020 5:08 AM

I was looking for a story about the hairdresser who fired her as a client. I didn't find that, but did find a story about Bumble kicking her off their site:
Sharon Stone says her Bumble account has not been restored after she was kicked off the dating app — but the company says that it has.
A Bumble spokesperson said in a statement Monday that Stone’s profile has been restored after it was “mistakenly” blocked. The 61-year-old Golden Globe-winning actress said on Twitter the day before that Bumble closed her account and she asked, “Is being me exclusionary? Don’t shut me out the hive.”
Bumble apologized for the confusion but thought users could have viewed Stone’s profile as fake because there was no verification.
“Being the icon that she is, we can understand how so many of our users felt it was too good to be true once they noticed her profile wasn’t photo verified,” the statement said. “Photo verification is just one of the many ways to connect with confidence on Bumble.”
But on Tuesday, Stone tweeted, “.@bumble ERASED my account -they did not RESTORE it BTW,” along with the prayer hand emoji.
Stone is best known for starring in the 1992 drama “Basic Instinct” and the 1995 crime film “Casino.” She has been married twice, first to producer Michael Greenburg and then journalist Phil Bronstein, whom she divorced in 2004.
The actress’ rep didn’t immediately return an email message from the Associated Press.

don’t mean to be rude but are you familiar with how money works? even nobodies retire with comfortable lives everyday. she made plenty, it’s not a huge challenge keeping it after you learn the basics.

by Anonymousreply 152February 4, 2020 5:32 AM

r145, I do, too. The internet used to be interesting.

r151, the best part of that story is that she was trolling for ass at 4am, which is when she contacted the company on Twitter, pissed about getting banned.

Sharon used to give reliably insane interviews from which a friend and I would create MadLibs for each other. We'd, also, make them out the stomach turning "erotic" fiction that fans would send in to Tonya Harding's official website and which she proudly posted in their own big section. Most of her site was just this gross fan written porn. This was before she tried her hand at boxing. We turned some of those into cartoons with xtranormal.

by Anonymousreply 153February 4, 2020 5:34 AM

She does TONS of appearances and collects large fees. The charities pay all of her expenses. Sometimes she does the auctions and the bids are higher because she plays to the crowd.

by Anonymousreply 154February 4, 2020 5:52 AM

R45 Does Sharon wear wigs?

by Anonymousreply 155February 4, 2020 5:55 AM

R151 the whole thing smells of one big PR stunt to me. Seriously why would she go on there? Though r153’s post made me lol.

by Anonymousreply 156February 4, 2020 5:59 AM

it's strange that people on here forget that many celebrities have years where they earn millions and millions of dollars. Some do blow it, but plenty hang on to a lot of it. And the income potential for someone like Sharon Stone is still over $1 mil per year during the past decade between a few small movie roles, advertising jobs, public appearances. She earned $20 million during her heyday, married a billionaire, and now makes plenty.

by Anonymousreply 157February 4, 2020 8:12 AM

I saw her during filming of Basic Instinct 2 and she smoked like a chimney between takes, so I'm surprised her skin is still so good. I assume she's had some good work, or maybe she was using the cream from Catwoman?

If you watch early interviews of Sharon Stone, you will realize that she’s actually a pretty smart girl who got stuck in sex symbol status. So she’s probably been really good with investing her money. But apparently she’s quite nutty which explains her career decline aside from her brain aneurism that she suffered. The fact that she’s still relevant but is not working doesn’t make sense, everyone knows who Sharon stone is.

by Anonymousreply 162February 4, 2020 10:33 AM

Stone does work. What are you talking about?

by Anonymousreply 163February 4, 2020 10:34 AM

What has she worked on over the last 15 years besides that random series where she was an advisor to a president or she was the president and besides the amfar benefit?

by Anonymousreply 164February 4, 2020 10:53 AM
Grandes Dames like Stone and Deneuve are treated like royalty in France. I doubt they pay for a thing, comped rooms at Ritz...restaurant tabs, car and driver.

I always smile when I read Deneuve's interviews and the journalist casualy mentions that they're sitting in one of Deneuve's favorite restaurant/brasserie and she's the only one smoking inside, without anybody complaining about it She also smokes on TV and doesn't care about the fine. She doesn't give a shit and it's too late for anybody to do anything about it!

by Anonymousreply 165February 4, 2020 10:57 AM

She was in Mosaic last year. Which is really the first thing I've seen her in. She had a bit part in the Laundromat. Looks like Ryan Murphy and Soderberg appreciate her and get her work. She can be a good actress but she can also be very mechanical.

by Anonymousreply 166February 4, 2020 12:01 PM

Besides the French liking both women, not sure there is much else in common between Miss Stone and Madame Deneuve.

by Anonymousreply 167February 4, 2020 2:39 PM

Well they both have fake blonde hair.

by Anonymousreply 168February 4, 2020 8:13 PM

Sharon's a natural blonde, Deneuve is a bottle blonde and has the roots to show for it. I think she looked better with naturally darker hair when young because her blonde hair was so obviously dyed a brassy orangey-blonde.

by Anonymousreply 169February 4, 2020 8:46 PM

I heard she does car commercials in Japan.

A Japanese guy told me once "In America everyone's a gynecologist" but I was too busy watching Nomi and Penny scissor up on stage

by Anonymousreply 170February 4, 2020 8:57 PM

Catwoman and Basic Instinct 2 colon to shit bombs in 2 years.

Don't even get me started on the Last Dance. Maureen Prescott was no Sharon Stone but Sharon Stone was no Susan Hayward in this loose retelling of "I want to live!"

by Anonymousreply 171February 4, 2020 9:00 PM

How was she in "Gloria"?

by Anonymousreply 172February 4, 2020 9:02 PM

Deneuve a natural medium brown brunette. Stone a natural medium ash blonde.

Stone did some high profile commercials in Italy, she was quite popular there in the 90s and probably got paid handsomely for commercials. I think she was great in The Muse, not too heavy dramatics but with some lighthearted comedy moments.

Well, she probably [italic]could[/italic] have married a billionaire if she'd set her mind to it. She married a newspaper guy. He seems to have been quite successful in his field, but I see no evidence of his being a billionaire.

I remember hearing stories that she was a major cunt on the set of King Solomon's Mines that the crew pissed in her bathwater. Any truth to that rumor?

I loved that she was pissed that Wes Craven let an actual spider fall into Stone's mouth in DEADLY BLESSING. Now that was a fun cheesy horror film, Ernest Borgnine as a Hittite , a Sleepaway Campish type ending with Lisa Hartman(?!) in the Angela role.

R137 And when they don't get things comped, they act as if they should be.

In Deneuve's case, a guy recently shared that she stopped by his ice-cream truck in Paris and once handed her cone, started to walk away. The guy said, "Mademoiselle, that's €9" (holy hell, must be good ice cream) and she replied, "Mais...je suis Catherine Deneuve !" lol (true story) and the guy said, "Yes, but that's still €9" and she paid him with a huff.

Stone was asked to guest star on a US network show and while making the deal, she asked for, I think (it's been a while), double the money and maybe a massive HDTV and some other major perks, if I recall correctly. They got so annoyed with her demands, they decided to pass.

Quelle surprise !

by Anonymousreply 185February 5, 2020 11:03 AM

R183 Deneuve insists on it, because she's not married, despite French societal rules. You can Google it. Try to call her Madame and the withering look you'll get from her.

R185 It really happened, but naysayers on DL is the reason we can't have decent gossip here anymore.

by Anonymousreply 186February 6, 2020 9:48 AM

I have little doubt that it happened. Not just Deneuve but a lot of French women who never married insist on being called Mademoiselle because mademoiselle doesn't just suggest singlehood but also youth. As far as the story being truth, most stars (I live in Hollywood and have met many of them) are very entitled. It's not unusual for them to walk away with things you give them. I once handed Cyd Charisse a DVD of Silk Stocking for her to sign and she said thank you and started to walk away with it. Fortunately her husband Tony Martin, who was with her, stopped her and said, "I think he wants your autograph." She was very kind, asked my name and wrote "With love Cyd Charisse" on the cover. She was an older woman then but you could see that they just assume that when you hand them something, it's a keeper.

by Anonymousreply 187February 6, 2020 10:48 PM

Didn't Cyd Charisse develop dementia?

by Anonymousreply 188February 6, 2020 10:50 PM

She didn't have dementia then. She was a guest on a TV show about Marylin Monroe and her memory seemed intact although she was a little slow-moving. And she was grand.

by Anonymousreply 189February 6, 2020 10:53 PM

Dementia can be long in the offing.

by Anonymousreply 190February 6, 2020 10:59 PM

R187 Deneuve was married once in the 60s, I'm sure you already know, but I suspect it's a combination of reasons she insists on being called Mademoiselle...including being unmarried for so long and wanting to maintain that youth thing. I've seen her face when someone calls her Madame...she literally catches herself (usually) from correcting them, but it depends on who's saying it. She visibly bristles at it.

And the ice cream story is not the only time she walked away without thinking she needed to pay...but it's not from stinginess (she spends so much money!), rather a lifetime of being given so much and partially entitlement, too. Still, she's La Deneuve!

by Anonymousreply 191February 7, 2020 6:54 AM

She supports Pete!

by Anonymousreply 192February 7, 2020 8:19 AM

I never pay less than twelve pounds for an ice cream cone.

by Anonymousreply 193February 7, 2020 9:03 AM

Stone supposedly had an affair with Wes Craven's wife in the early 80s and broke up their marriage.

She also attends dictator parties for the right price (I'm surprised at how common this is among celebrities).

by Anonymousreply 194March 20, 2021 6:20 PM
