He's the new John Travolta.
Do all James Franco's movies go straight-to-video now?
by Anonymous | reply 102 | May 24, 2020 5:27 PM |
Straight??
by Anonymous | reply 1 | February 2, 2020 3:53 AM |
he's full of shit
by Anonymous | reply 2 | February 2, 2020 3:55 AM |
Grease, Saturday Night Fever, Pulp Fiction ... John Travolta is an icon of cinema, whether you like it or not. And it seems like those days are permanently over and we won't see anymore. Franco has never been in a classic/memorable movie in his life.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | May 18, 2020 1:55 PM |
He got cancelled by Me Too and Times Up
by Anonymous | reply 4 | May 18, 2020 1:58 PM |
Thinks he is an artist not an actor. Smokes way to much pot and made enough money he does not need to work again - not a whole lot of drive to be MORE famous.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | May 18, 2020 2:03 PM |
Franco is toast. Didn't they actually end THE DEUCE (an entertaining little show) early because of him?
His output is kind of shocking: he has 150 credits on IMDB, many for projects I've never heard of. How many truly memorable films has he made? How many commercially successful films has he made? I'd guess that his own "art" projects will be the first to be forgotten.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | May 18, 2020 2:05 PM |
I saw Jimmy Franco on Broadway in "Of Mice and Men." It was a very good and disciplined performance. He was also just perfect in "Milk" and hilarious in "The Pineapple Express." Have you read his novels? Not bad. And I really respect his admiration for Faulkner and has adapted a few of his difficult novels. But jealous people just want to tear him down. They cannot stand that someone can be so devastatingly handsome AND talented. Suffer.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | May 18, 2020 2:09 PM |
It's no classic, but I loved him in Pineapple Express.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | May 18, 2020 2:10 PM |
It was a combination of him making one shitty movie after another and him doing one sleazy and questionable thing after another (the teen on Instagram, the accusations from from some students his “acting school,” the meetup with Amber Heard). People also got sick of the gay baiting. Either come out or just STFU.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | May 18, 2020 2:10 PM |
I feel bad for him. He was on track to gain an Oscar nomination. I actually liked his movie and thought he really did deserve the nomination. I never believed the thirsty women who accused him of #metoo, but the damage has been done, while other actors who did #metoo are fine.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | May 18, 2020 2:11 PM |
One can only hope.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | May 18, 2020 2:45 PM |
He always looks like he might have been a great fuck. But never at your own home. You want to see what there is to see and do what there is to do. But you need to be able to slip away quietly when it's done.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | May 18, 2020 2:47 PM |
r7, "Handsome" is subjective and to each his own, but you honestly think Franco is objectively "talented"? Seriously?
by Anonymous | reply 15 | May 18, 2020 3:09 PM |
Almost no one is objectively talented. Very, very few would fit that category, even in singing, where much of the physical attributes neede are inborn. But for actors? Oh, hell no.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | May 18, 2020 3:13 PM |
Yes. He’s over. No one wants to hire him because of complaints from women he harassed or assaulted. He also goes for teenagers.
His best films are Milk and 127 Hours? But he made more trash than Nicole Kidman, which is saying a lot.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | May 18, 2020 3:19 PM |
They should. He’s a despicable human being.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | May 18, 2020 3:26 PM |
He always looks like maybe he bathed yesterday, but definitely did not bathe today.
The rule is, baths to-morrow and baths yesterday – but never baths to-day.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | May 18, 2020 3:26 PM |
I just realized that the only thing I've ever seen him in was King Cobra. Weird, It feels like I've seen all his movies. He's overexposed and retreating from the limelight for a few years is probably good for him.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | May 18, 2020 3:37 PM |
Even Seth Rogen has said Franco has a greasy appearance. I bet he smells like ass and cigarettes.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | May 18, 2020 3:38 PM |
It was such a huge mistake for Garrett Clayton to make that film with Franco. TAINTED.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | May 18, 2020 3:38 PM |
r22 It wasn't a bad movie. I found it interesting. And Garret Clayton now has name recognition thanks to being "tainted" by Franco.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | May 18, 2020 3:44 PM |
Is he Italian?
by Anonymous | reply 24 | May 18, 2020 3:48 PM |
He is Portuguese, r24.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | May 18, 2020 3:51 PM |
Mixed ancestry--his mother is Jewish and his father was of Portuguese and Swedish descent.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | May 18, 2020 3:54 PM |
He's hot as fuck, and he made a number of gay-related non-commercial films while he was manically producing work.
Now we're supposed to hate him, but I don't at all. He's been adventurous ever since he could start choosing and producing his own projects while at the same time succeeding in the mainstream.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | May 18, 2020 4:03 PM |
I thought he was a hollywood fuck boi and big dope until I read that he has like three or more degrees and a phd. Then I started to understand him and respect him.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | May 18, 2020 4:14 PM |
Holy shit!!!! I just googled it and he has TEN college degrees!!!! WTF!!!!
by Anonymous | reply 29 | May 18, 2020 4:16 PM |
[quote]I just realized that the only thing I've ever seen him in was King Cobra. Weird, It feels like I've seen all his movies. He's overexposed and retreating from the limelight for a few years is probably good for him.
He doesn't have that luxury. He's in his 40s so no chance of him being allowed back and hitting it big. Not a good actor, hasn't been in anything memorable. Of course he's over.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | May 18, 2020 4:39 PM |
Another one of his issues is he tried to be a jack of all trades, but was really master of none except being an OK actor. Remember when he was doing “art” exhibits, recorded awful music, poetry, novels, directing, producing, photography, teaching, etc? It was all terrible. He should have just focused on maybe one or two things outside of acting and that’s it instead of being mediocre or terrible while doing multiple things.
I don’t even hear anyone mention him anymore. He used to be popular up until about 5 years ago.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | May 18, 2020 4:39 PM |
And the #metoo issues.

Thank you for weighing in, 14-Year-Old Girl Stan.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | May 18, 2020 4:46 PM |
He's over: you can't be an enfant terrible any more in your forties. He was pretty much a con artist, trying to see how much he could get away with.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | May 18, 2020 4:50 PM |
The graduate program shenanigans were just that.... shenanigans. Ask his "classmates" from those programs at Columbia and NYU how often they actually saw him in attendance. (Franco received a D for poor attendance at at least one NYU class, and was photographed asleep at a Columbia lecture that he did deign to attend). How many of those programs did he actually complete?
What was more shocking to me was how these respected institutions signed on to be part of Franco's elaborate PR stunt, along side the General Hospital appearances, the gay-themed indie projects and gay-baiting that accompanied them, his infamous "hosting" of the Oscars, etc.
Franco's had a long run making headlines for himself as a sort of post-Warhol self-invented "superstar." Perhaps he should have focused more on making fewer and better movies.
And oh yes, on not sexually harrassing and exploiting people along the way.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | May 18, 2020 4:51 PM |
Not everyone wants to be a movie star. If that is what he wanted, he could have easily gone in that direction after James Dean. He chose not to. Some people just want to enjoy their lives. What I really want to know is how real is this pic? It's certainly realistic. I really do want to believe it.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | May 18, 2020 4:58 PM |
I would sit on that.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | May 18, 2020 5:35 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 38 | May 18, 2020 6:52 PM |
I kinda don't care, but I kinda do. Has he ever had gay sex. He loves to toy with it all the time, and then back off and say he would never actually have sex with another guy. Anyone on DL had him? Not friend of a friend, but you, personally, had him?
by Anonymous | reply 39 | May 18, 2020 6:57 PM |
He seems like the type to prank you by jerking off on your face while you're sleeping.
by Anonymous | reply 40 | May 18, 2020 7:02 PM |
LOL, r40.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | May 18, 2020 7:04 PM |
That'd be fine with me, R40.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | May 18, 2020 7:05 PM |
He doesn't smoke pot IRL, believe it or not.
by Anonymous | reply 43 | May 18, 2020 7:08 PM |
God, I hate the incest troll! Anyway, Cocaine Gossip Girl claimed he's had plently of gay sex, including one in a threesome with her boyfriend. Not that I care because I'm not attracted to him at all.
by Anonymous | reply 46 | May 18, 2020 7:25 PM |
I once saw in at a coffee house in santa monica. This was just after freaks and geeks he was quite young. But what struck me as odd, was that he was in a suit. It was blazing hot and LA isn't a "suit-wearing" type place. I mean, you can leave the jacket in the car, bro! His skin was grey. His teeth were grey. He looked so unhealthy. He looked like death. Meh, I'd still fuck him. Even in THAT condition!
by Anonymous | reply 47 | May 18, 2020 7:38 PM |
I agree that he always looks unbathed and a bit smelly to me.

Oh please! He was the ultimate famewhore and was doing anything and everything for attention up until negative things started coming out about him. If he didn’t care about being a movie star, he wouldn’t have hosted the Oscars or been submitting his name for Oscar consideration.
by Anonymous | reply 49 | May 18, 2020 7:48 PM |
oh, god, the Oscar hosting. I'd suppressed that. But oh, sweet jesus. And I kind of like James Franco, or at least don't generally mind him. but Oh Dear God in Heaven!
by Anonymous | reply 50 | May 18, 2020 7:50 PM |
Thanks to his Jewish heritage, he was able to succeed in Hollywood. He made some poor lifestyle choices that melted away his snowflake fans.
by Anonymous | reply 51 | May 18, 2020 7:54 PM |
He’s bisexual and has even had boyfriends. Whenever I see his face now I think of a child molester.
by Anonymous | reply 52 | May 18, 2020 8:08 PM |
I mean, I know you're right r52, and I don't mean to belabor this question which deep down doesn't matter, but any names? Any details? Anything that isn't just "I heard ..."?
by Anonymous | reply 53 | May 18, 2020 8:11 PM |
The nude pic is probably real. Are you all forgetting the pic on his Instagram which showed cum all over a batman headpiece? He did not get the coveted part and did the pic for spite.
by Anonymous | reply 54 | May 18, 2020 8:32 PM |
There already was a thread that debunked the photo.
by Anonymous | reply 55 | May 18, 2020 8:46 PM |
It’s really telling that other than Seth Rogan and Amber Heard, he seems to have no actor friends.

How is James handling the pandemic. Where is he quarantining and with whom?
I envision him watching copious amounts of porn, drinking heavily and putting on even more weight.

About the beard, notice in his entire career before he got blackballed he had never been photographed with a girlfriend. So staged.
by Anonymous | reply 60 | May 19, 2020 3:24 AM |
He was excellent in Milk and the Disaster artist. He's made some poor career choices however. I mean, General Hospital? What was he thinking?
by Anonymous | reply 61 | May 19, 2020 3:28 AM |
He's actively bi, and was in what was apparently a violent relationship with another man a couple years back. I know for a fact several media outlets were competing to break the story but it never came out, I don't know if he has good lawyers or what.
by Anonymous | reply 62 | May 19, 2020 3:38 AM |
I watched "The Disaster Artist" a few weeks ago and it's even worse than "The Room."
by Anonymous | reply 63 | May 19, 2020 5:14 AM |

His stinky, stanky, fakey-intellectual ways his all my art school fuck boy buttons! SIT ON MY FACE!
He's okay at all the things he does and does too much but he's hot and can have a conversation about Chris Burden so I want to blow him.

He should make a movie with Colby Keller. Call it OUTCAST. Make it cinéma vérité and feature a lot of hot man-on-man action.
by Anonymous | reply 75 | May 19, 2020 2:48 PM |
There are a lot of fake James Franco nudes online but I had it on good authority from someone very well connected this particular photo is real. Something to do with a dog-walker in LA? I could hit my friend up for more info. He shared it with me about three(?), showing it to me on his phone at a party in NYC. About a year later I saw it finally appeared online.

He did show off some nice thick pubes in "The Disaster Artist" before his career falterd. He was very good in the film, too, playing a very bad actor.

He's at least bi. There were photos of James Franco cuddling with many guys at a Loca (the crazy lady) a now defunct famous underground gay club in Sao Paulo Brazil in 2012.
by Anonymous | reply 88 | May 21, 2020 12:48 AM |

He‘s got beautiful bone structure and sufficient height - is going to age gracefully etc.
by Anonymous | reply 90 | May 21, 2020 1:23 AM |
For them to go straight-to-video/streaming, he'd have to at least have some output, no? I think he's gone the way of Mel Gibson, where he'll always have his supporters or defenders, but never be able to fully return. Only difference is, Mel Gibson was bigger, more famous and more successful. Franco's crew in Hollywood is Seth Rogan and Judd Apatow.

If Franco had a dick that big he probably would have done full frontal long ago. First sign of a fake nude is a too big dick.
by Anonymous | reply 95 | May 21, 2020 3:35 PM |
There were also at least a couple of references to his character(s) in THE DEUCE (he played twin brothers) having a big dick.
I think it's a thing for him (or at least a wish).

R96 The majority of men claim to have a big dick (and most of the time it’s a lie).🙄

I remember him on Stern once talking about how he tried filming himself taking a shit into a bowl (or on the floor - can’t remember) but couldn’t, and then he tried to film another guy taking a shit into a bowl and only a tiny piece came out. That’s when I knew he wasn’t all there in the head.
