Rick Wilson promises anti-Trump group is about to launch a ‘pretty frigging nasty’ campaign to oust the president
Appearing on the HBO “Real Time” Overtime segment, Republican consultant Rick Wilson promised his anti-Donald Trump group, the Lincoln Project, is set to do everything thing they can to oust Donald Trump and his Congressional enablers out of office in 2020 with, in his words, a “pretty frigging nasty” blitz of ads.
Asked by host Bill Maher if his group will be endorsing a Democrat or another Republican for president, the acerbic Wilson said that is not their plan and that they will instead focus on hammering Donald Trump and vulnerable Republican lawmakers who defend him.

The Lincoln Project
OUR MISSION: Defeat Trump and Trumpism
I also saw an interview with Scaramucci who said he is joining the group's advisors who include George Conway, Steve Schmidt and Rick Wilson:

Bill Maher created 2 dirty, anti-Trump ads, contained in this video.
The first ad starts at 2:18
The preface for the Deep-Fake ad starts at 6:00

I'm with [R 8]. Conway, Schmidt and Wilson? I hope they are more effective than they have been thus far! Conway can't even persuade his own wife. Steve Schmidt gave us Palin and then Mr. Starbucks. Wilson's a good interview but he seems only to talk to people who watch CNN and MSNBC. Meh.

Wilson is all about selling books. I trust Conway before Wilson. Conway is actually smart and knows the law. He also isn't always making promises that never seem to pan out. Of course, both of them deserve to rot in hell for all eternity for creating this mess in the first place. Still I'd bet on Conway before Rick Wilson.

I trust Conway way less because HE IS MARRIED TO A HUGE TRUMP PROPAGANDIST.
Rick Wilson is selling books, sure, but he has the ring of authenticity to him. George Conway's whole act seems more like some sort of weird married-person kink fetish.

I want Trump to go away Mussolini style, along with the whore wife, the idiotic kids and their equally idiotic spouses, all Republican members of Congress, all the conservative Supreme Court Justices, Pat Roberson, Giuliani, Bill Barr, you get the picture.
There's plenty of room for gallows on the National Mall in DC.

R14 Replace the word Republicans with Democrats and replace the word Trump with Obama and that statement sounds like something ripped straight from The Handmaid's Tale. We all lost our humanity sometime around 2015. It's disgusting how quickly we allowed ourselves to be turned into monsters.

Good luck convincing the Never Trumpers to vote for Bernie Sanders. If this were about principle, they would try to primary him. For Never Trumpers, it's all about damaged egos and chasing fame. Romney and Scaramouch would still be kissing Trump's ass if they still had power.

R19 fails to understand human nature. Nothing changed in 2015. Nothing ever changes. Humans are lazy, greedy, slothful, selfish, etc , etc. Always have been. Always will be. Sometimes individual humans learn a little as they go a long. But human nature is constant. And we do the same shit over and over and over.

Polls, polls, polls and still no witnesses and a turbo acquittal. I'm so sick of this.
Would be interesting to know how much money this group has. Posting videos on SM is great, but they need some serious airtime on major networks to beat Trump and his corrupt friends in the Senate.

I started following Rick Wilson a few years ago on the recommendation of DL but I stopped after a while because he never actually says anything and he basically just advertises his books, which don't look all that great. I am sure that he could do or reveal something significant but so far he hasn't and I suspect that he won't. He's hedging his bets in case the Republican party comes back from the dead.

For what it's worth, Rick had a really juicy story about Trump right before the 2016 election and the media flat out refused to run it. He never revealed what it was at the time, perhaps he was saving it for a 2020 October surprise.
They will not refuse this time.

r37 is right. r32 can't even conceive of a way to win that doesn't involve cheating. That's how we lose. Instead make great policy that will resonate with people and make them feel the Dems have their back and will help them in their daily life. We lose by cheating, taking shortcuts and replacing great policy messaging with woke stunts ( ie promising your cabinet will be picked by a binary nine year old).

Fuck him and fuck "respectable" Republicans. They're just as naive as Biden is when he says that all it will take is a nice guy in the White House to get Republicans to work with Democrats. Please. Trump IS the Republican Party, the Republican Party is Trump. The way some of these guys act, as though Trump was some aberration from outers space that just landed on earth in 2016 is bullshit revisionist history. Trump isn't an anomaly. He's a direct result of the direction the Republican Party has been going in for DECADES.
I mean, don't get me wrong, I'm all for them spending money to help defeat Trump and his enablers, but their party is still vile and will still be vile long after Trump is dust.

I'm sure the ads will do a brutally effective job of preaching to the choir. They will probably air non-stop during the Rachel Maddow Show.
The Mueller report didn't cause Trump's approval ratings to drop. The impeachment trial didn't cause Trump's approval ratings to drop. But I'm sure these "frigging nasty" ads will do the trick.

I’m all for doing whatever they can to defeat Trump. And I like them all now. But Steve Schmidt and Nicolle Wallace gave us Sarah Palin, and yet John McCain is still referred to as a fucking hero. He’s not. His presidential campaign slogan was “America First.” By naming Palin, McCain did not put America first at all.
Conway's fucking disgusting wife works for Trump. What’s wrong with her? What’s wrong with him? There’s something morally corrupt about both of them.
Scaramucci said the Lincoln Project would not be endorsing a Democratic candidate. I saw him in a recent interview. He still wants a Repugs for president.

Actually, they're savvy and ruthless. We could actually learn something from them. They are putting their personal distaste for the man aside because of what he's accomplishing for him. The way that he's changed the federal judiciary for a generation by putting more conservative justices into place is probably worth it to them alone. He could rape an entire battalion of female Iraq War vets and they'd find some way to ignore it or forgive him.
