Bolton Set This Whole Thing Up
Bolton is the one who started impeachment proceedings by telling WH staff to go to attorneys. He made a big stink about it, then....stood back & did nothing.
He could’ve testified before the house but he refused. He only volunteered to testify before the senate after we knew McConnell wasn’t going to allow witness testimony in the senate. Why did he start the whole thing? He must’ve known he was going to write a book & get💰 out of it. He has always worked for the GOP. Always. He’s never been a hero.
The GOP wanted impeachment. Why? For the spectacle, to cover all the shit Trump is doing. Is Trump building up to a war in Iran? Is that why we have soldiers in Saudi Arabia? Bolton wants a war in Iran. Then there’s the phony Biden investigation. Seriously - how much traction would story that have gotten? Everyone would know Trump set it up, just like a million other things Trump sets up. Impeachment over the Biden thing gets tremendous publicity against Biden, probably far more than it ever would de gotten without the spectacle.
The whole thing was a set up. It energizes Trump’s base and galvanizes “never Dem” Republican voters to get out & vote in November instead of staying home. Bolton gets a book, a war & is guaranteed employment with GOP owned industry in a few years.

It wasn’t that the Republicans wanted impeachment, Bolton did it because he was in a snit at being fired. I’ve never understood why Trump hired him in the first place. One consistent thing about Trump is that he doesn’t want to start foreign wars. Bolton’s one consistency is that he wants to start multiple wars.

Jared wants war. Bibi wants war. Putin wants war.
Trump will be talked into war.

R1 Trump doesn't really give a shit if he starts a war or not. He has no core values, it's all about being transactional so that he can stay in power (and thus, avoid jail time).
Trump had a copy of Bolton's book in December, so he knew what Bolton would say. Assassinating the Iranian general was about giving Bolton something he's always wanted (war with Iran) in exchange for him not testifying.
Quid pro quo, Clarice.
Stop saying that Trump is anti-war. A grifter will do anything to save their own skin.

R3 You must understand that one of the main reasons he won the nomination is because his base is tired of endless wars. If he abandons his anti-war stance, without a very good reason, he could lose them and have no chance of reelection. That also doesn’t mean, though, that they are against actions short of war. They don’t have a problem with a show of strength, like killing that general, but they would with invading Iran.

R4 My point is that he LIED about being anti-war, just like with everything else. He is a con man with no strategy, only a day to day focus to stay ahead of the next news cycle and distract people's attention. Unfortunately the rest of the Republicans have adopted this strategy now too.
And his cult of rubes will go along with whatever war he bumbles us into. I'm talking about the hard core ones, the independents that were actually not a fan of these endless wars have already wised up and are done with him.

Trump’s base will jump right onto the back of war machine without hesitation. They’re not th3 ones who fight the wars & they’re too stupid to understand how much money we truly waste on wars, making the US weaker all the time.
They were all saber rattling when Trump hit Souli-whoever last month. They never heard if the guy until rightwing media assured them he was th3 Number 2 most dangerous man in the world.
In fact, if Putin said, “I think US should fight war with Iran & take out Muslim bad guy extremists” every Trump rally attendant would give a full throated white Christian cri de guerre (in English, of course). Trump supporters love white Christian Putin, who allows gays to be beaten up, kills journalists & jails women who say bad things about the Russian a Orthodox Church because them goddamn queer homo lezzy libtard atheists deserve to have their heads bashed in.
(Notice though, Putin won’t actually mention Muslims because he’s got.....a *bit* of a Muslim problem in the Russian Federation)
So yeah ....impeachment is a great way to get Trump’s zombies to follow him into (the sidelines of a ) war.

This is how they get the war they want, which will harm America while lining their pockets. McConnell can’t hide his glee as things have been working out beyond his wildest dreams. Trump got into office. The GOP thought he would be a disaster but he is NOT. a disaster for the GOP, because Trump does whatever the last person in the room tells him to do. And no doubt, John Bolton told Donald Trump to get Rudy Giuliani to drag Gog & Magog over to Ukraine & gin up a fake investigation of Biden. Bolton is deep in the neocon world. And they, as well as Putin, are manipulating puppet Trump.

R6 His base is exactly the ones that fights the wars. It is the never Trump Neocons that want war but don't fight them. The military is mostly made up of working class young people. Yes, some are the urban poor(Democrats biggest supporters) but many also come from the rural poor(Trumps biggest supporters). As of 2017, of the top ten states for active duty military personnel five were "Trump" states and five were "Clinton" states, 512,892 people from the "Trump" states and 460,496 from the "Clinton" states.

His base wants the military jobs because there aren’t any other jobs. They gladly give their kids to the military. “Heroes.”

R9 That is the point they want them in the military but they don't want them in wars.
