Cesar Vicente's nude scene in the latest Almodovar film, "Pain and Glory" was done for a real purpose and is integral to the film. Bravo!
Agreed. And what a luscious young man!

Cesar Vicente became very popular in Spain recently. Unfortunately for him not for his good acting but for being completely drunk at an award ceremony. He was host with Ester Expósito (Élite) and well, that didn't go well

He disappointed me by helping Penelope Cruz have a career.

Beautiful peen as well.

Banderas looked very hot for his age in the film too.
Almodovar wishes he was as handsome as Banderas.

Smegmalicious!

Pain and Glory was one of the most sensual films of 2019, and much of that had to do with Vicente's beautiful body and that healthy package. When our young protagonist fainted at the sight of it, I was right there with him. The actor who plays Banderas' actor friend was also beautiful. That one man performance of his play that he does... the dancing at the beginning, so hot.
And then the past lover that comes to see the show, then Banderas... they way they kiss before parting ways... damn that was hot!
Definitely one of the most erotic films of last year.

This is what a sexy male body is to me. The roided up queens of NYC and LA (with skinny legs) got nothing on this guy. His body is naturally fit and sensuous.

The nude guy was fugly I could hardly care for his polla.

R10: Or you have bad taste or you need to go to check your eyes. The guy is a drunk mess but he is very handsome

I always liked her in his films.
In fact, each of the 3 of his actors who went on to American films - Cruz, Banderas & Bardem - were better utilized & more intriguing (and gave better performances) in Almodóvar films than in any of the English language ones they made.

Dummy me needs to ask this question: Was the Banderas character in Pain and Glory suppose to be about Almodovar himself? Did poor people really live in caves in southern Spain?
by Anonymous | reply 13 | February 1, 2020 2:21 PM |
That is one taut tooshie.

Well, the purpose was homoerotic arousal.
Just like [italic]Dawson’s 50 Load Weekend.[/italic]

R13: The film is not that autobiographical, and not, nobody lives in caves in the south of Spain (and Almodovar is not of the south of Spain either)
by Anonymous | reply 16 | February 1, 2020 6:02 PM |
The movie was good but really not one of his best. And, yes, it was somewhat autobiographical.

His greatest work was Women on the verge..." everything else has been crap
by Anonymous | reply 18 | February 1, 2020 6:15 PM |
No, his best film is All about my mother by far

That movie is such a flat tire--like so many of Pedro's movies since he stopped being funny and "grew up." OK, the young guy is very cute, but otherwise....Give me "8 1/2" or "The Bad and the Beautiful." Any day.

Nicely charming and absorbing - very good, not great. Loved the sexual awakening scene, and the bittersweet coda in the car near the end. Disliked the graphics used to convey the director's Pain. Took me out of the story. Basically though, well worth a watch.

loved it / see it DL

I'm surprised at how good it is, given Pedro's age.
Yes, the graphics were not helpful. I wondered why there was a credit for graphics at the beginning.
Was Banderas's apartment scenes filmed in Almodovar's apartment? It looks exactly what I would expect his place to look like.
Is Almodovar a hypochondriac?

The scene of the guy taking a shower was exquisite. Spanish men are so hot.
So the mother received the painting that was meant for his son and threw it away? Is that what happened at the end?

R24 He got back at her, as we saw in the final reveal.

I love his movies. He's made so many good ones.

It was a great movie. I liked that it was basically a gay movie that could have told the same story with straight characters. No one was a meth queen, crazy promiscuous, over the top feminine. Yes, there was a drug addiction theme, but it was central to the story and didn’t feel like exploitation. I also enjoyed that it wasn’t another story about HIV.
I am so over the same tired gay story lines (ahem, the Inheritance) and this was very refreshing.
The last scene was supposed to show that he got his shit together and started directing again, right? I think it would have made more sense to use different actors than in the original scene. Using him as a child and his actual mother (combined with the fact that the preceding scene showed him going under anesthesia) almost makes it look like the whole thing was a dream or something.

No, they were far more socially acceptable heroin addicts.

Yes R29, but I don’t think heroin addiction is stereotypical gay. I’ve never seen a move or play with gay heron addicts before.
