I wouldn't.
These are the morons who keep giving us Moscow Mitch and Rand Paul.

NO!!!

Please make that happen to the whole entire south!

Just move the gold out of Fort Knox first.

Are there any DL posters from KY?
by Anonymous | reply 4 | February 1, 2020 11:23 AM |
The people, eh. But it's some beautiful countryside. I'd feel bad.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | February 1, 2020 11:23 AM |
Their rabid dedication to Trump suggests they’re already living under a ‘mushroom’ cloud.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | February 1, 2020 11:23 AM |
I’d feel bad for the non-Trumptards who live there. Even in the reddest state you have your liberals who love other aspects of their state. Decent Appalachian and rural libs exist and donate to the local PBS affiliate but are certainly not the vocal ones.

Really, does Kentucky even have a point?
by Anonymous | reply 8 | February 1, 2020 11:47 AM |
No to nukes.
Eastern Kentucky has some of the most gorgeous landscapes in the nation. But, like West Virginia, its people are broken.
And when you think about it, we're only about 40 years out from KY being a Democratic, fiercely loyal labor union stronghold. The people at the top of union leadership sold the people out, then Reagan came along with his snake oil Republicanism, and it was curtains for any hope of forward progress.
But I strongly believe if a Democratic administration enticed some GOOD corporate citizen like, say, Subaru, to locate a series of superfactories in Eastern Kentucky to replace the foundered coal mining economy, and Obama's plans for locating clean energy operations there were put in place, along with federal-state-local-university microbusiness incubators scattered throughout the state, within a generation Kentucky could return to its Democratic Party roots.
And Mitch HAS to go.

For a moment but I'd get over it.

Yes, because I'm not a genocidal psychopath.

I was born there, in Louisville, but we left when I was 7. It is a beautiful state but I’m ashamed of the place for what it’s people have inflicted on the nation with the evil that is McConnell. Rand Paul sucks too, but he’s more of a clown. Still, there are some great liberal people in Lexington and Louisville, so I wouldn’t nuke it just yet.

Baltimore would be a better target
by Anonymous | reply 14 | February 1, 2020 1:08 PM |
Home to the Creation Museum and the life-sized ark with dinosaurs on it. Yeah, nuke it.Just make sue the senators are home first.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | February 1, 2020 1:08 PM |
I would buy a round of Bourbons for the entire bar.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | February 1, 2020 1:11 PM |
Shameless, disgusting state.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | February 1, 2020 1:12 PM |
I've never been there, but I have a friend who lives in Louisville and she is the complete opposite of what you'd think of as a Kentuckian. Her dad is retired from the federal government and we don't discuss politics, but judging by his FB, he's not too fond of Moscow Mitch.
I have a feeling Kentucky is like Virginia. Hicks to the south and a little more progressive to the north. Unfortunately, over the river from Louisville is Indiana and they gave us that sleepy-eyed freak Mike Pence.

Kentucky just elected a Democratic governor in a very tight, bitter race against a Republican incumbent who didn’t want to concede.
Change can happen with hard work at the local level.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | February 1, 2020 1:18 PM |
let's correct that - Kentucky barely elected a Democratic governor who was running against a corrupt republican who was a pile of shit. After he conceded he pardons hundreds of criminals including child rapists. Again this guy barely lost meaning at least half of the people of KY wanted him.

Think of all the horses!
by Anonymous | reply 21 | February 1, 2020 2:42 PM |
R20, and just under 50% of the vote went to Dump.
That’s national.
Chipping away at a slim majority can lead to a change. Why discredit the over 50% of Kentuckians who voted the governor out?

Kentucky is not southern. It was decidedly on the northern side during "The Late Unpleasantness" aka Civil War. It was considered midwestern at the time. It became southern later when unprecedented waves of violence broke out after the war. The corruption and violence which still exists is almost unprecedented in the US. Lexington, for example, not only turned into one of the safest towns for the mafia, but America's premier cocaine distribution hub. It's really the only place in America where honor killing is still a thing.

One of my favorite people lives in Cynthiana. Let’s not forget there are strong minorities of people even in the most conservative states who go out and vote Democrat despite the pointlessness of it.
A body of people is more than its majority. A concept gays should understand. Focus your anger on the individuals who act badly.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | February 1, 2020 3:15 PM |
I know young people in that state and they are progressive. Just because some states are behind m, doesn't mean they'll never change.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | February 1, 2020 3:16 PM |
I've been to every state in the Union except CT, RI and HI. The only place I've been to that I thought should be nuked is San Francisco.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | February 1, 2020 3:57 PM |
Kentucky is still far better than so many other states - Alabama, West Virginia, Indiana, Mississippi, Kansas, South Carolina and most western states.
Yes, they have some shitty politicians, but I'd take Kentucky over many many other places.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | February 1, 2020 4:04 PM |
News flash: when you nuke something, the damage doesn't stay localized.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | February 1, 2020 4:07 PM |
Can't it be Alabama?
Kentucky may have terrible politicians but its countryside is beautiful and it has produced some of the best music.

Rand Paul's neighbor lives in Kentucky.
