Prince Harry loses complaint against Mail On Sunday over 'misleading' wildlife photos
Britain's Independent Press Standards Organisation ruled against Prince Harry's complaint against the Mail On Sunday over an article published in April 2019 suggesting that he intentionally misled the public by failing to make clear the animals he'd taken pictures of were drugged and tied up.
British media standards organization rules in favour of tabloid in Prince Harry complaint. The Mail on Sunday said Harry misled the public by not revealing animals he'd taken pictures of were drugged. The prince said he had posted the pictures to highlight conservation efforts.

Meghan is suing the Mail on Sunday about a letter to her father. Harry has just lost his complaint against the Mail on Sunday about his pics of tranquilized and tethered wildlife. The Mail on Sunday will now refuse to settle the lawsuit and will force the case to trial so that Megs and her dad can cut each other's throats in the witness box in front of the press and public in the gallery.

He lost this one, but does it affect or weaken the case that Meghan has against the MoS? Many here have opined that she had a solid case, due to UK copyright laws and how her letter was published.

R19-the MoS doesn't care if it wins or loses. It's going to make a fortune if this goes to court. It's salivating over what will be revealed in depositions.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | January 30, 2020 8:57 PM

R19 - Technically, this decision has no bearing whatsoever on Meghan's lawsuit. IPSO isn't a part of the judicial system.
But it could somewhat further erode the public image of the Harkles as pathetic victims of a lying press, and heroic warriors for truth and justice.
It works against the narrative they've been (in their minds) building of Woke Folk who love the earth, love helpless animals, never mislead the public, and believe in a free press.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | January 30, 2020 9:04 PM

R20 - I believe depositions, unlike most other unsealed court records, are not considered public records.
That said, they become public records if a, or any part of, deposition transcript becomes part of court hearings, absent a stipulation or agreement.

But no! He's stupid enough to think that he can CONTROL the press! Which can't be done, and even making the attempt is going to make so many enemies that anyone with sense would have talked him out of it. But the wife doesn't have sense, she thinks she can not only control the press but make money from doing so, the idiot. Harry had them too. But he ignored them, and then got his own people, and from what's been reported alienated and ignored them all.
The judgement has been appallingly bad. There was no need for this complaint, it was obviously just being done to make a point - and it blew up his face. It now ranks alongside cutting off the press for their lies whilst hailing the Daily Borisgraph as being an example of an honest newspaper, and trying to make taxpayers pay for their security in a string of decisions that seem like they almost want to be completely unsympathetic.

William is much smarter than the dim ginger as I don't think the privy council was the one who picked Kate for him. The selection of great life partners requires both the head and the heart. And by the way, Harry has his own palace advisors too, but he hardly ever listened to them after his disastrous marriage to a z-list TV actress. Maybe he has more faith in her degree from Northwestern U than in his own advisors. What a dim-witted whinger.

They were both coddled. And yes, perhaps William is more rational and level-headed. Some may say ruthless and cold. You decide. However, and I'm no fan of Harry, but it does a terrible number on your head when you know you're number two your whole life and you really don't matter. The advisers can build up Harry as much as they could, but all the attention and the future goes to the heir to the throne. There have even been recent reports that Will and Harry were nitpicking about certain titles and roles given to Will--and this was before Harry stepped down. And there is new report that Harry is annoyed that William was just named as the special rep to the Church of Scotland. And Harry was annoyed about that one which came after Harry stepped down so he should have expected it. There were reports this past fall that Harry was annoyed that he received less money form Charles than Will did.
There are so many issues besides just Markle just being a grifting con artist. Harry clearly feels inadequate to Will and this is as a result of living in Will's shadow (with some help from Markle egging on Harry).
Elizabeth's father was not prepared to be king when the Edward abdicated. Her father was the second son. Andrew is the second son and got into a whole lot of trouble throughout the years because he had little to do--and Andrew was the actual spare for a long time before William was born. And now Harry feels inadequate to Will as the second son. Even Margaret led a life of leisure and trouble as the second daughter. There simply isn't enough to do and attention to give to the second son or the second daughter...in other words, "the spare."

I didn't see any of those stories, but it is true that William does get a bit more money from Charles, because William has a larger family. Harry only became a father less than a year ago, William has three children, and given that the taxpayer shelled out 2.5 million for Harry's home, and Charles paid for the fixings and furnishings, Harry complaining about money is on a par with him whingeing about his life after visiting some of the poorest countries in the world.
As for the titles, Harry resigned his job. What did he think, he was going to resign, continue to get paid, and continue to get appointments?! Especially after ignoring the Queen's request not to put the public announcement up until the details were ironed out with Charles?
If these stories are true, then the money/title nitpicking was undoubtedly due to pressure from Meghan. Harry, on his own, wouldn't bother, he knows the Game of Thrones too well, he imbibed it with Diana's milk.
You can just hear the bitchy, ambitious, petty wife in the background, "You're as good as he is! You should get just the same as he gets! You're Charles' son, too! Look what they live in - and look what they gave us! Stop being such a weakling! Demand your rights!"
"But screw your courage to the sticking point!"

The Harkles tried to half-resign, or something. Harry is stll going to be the figurehead of Sentebale and Invictus charities, showing up to be photographed and so on. Markle thinks she will continue her patronage, such as it was, of the National Theatre's US efforts, but I doubt that will come to anything. I mean really. I don't get why r69's reports are even controversial. It's entirely plausible-- even likely-- that two brothers are going to fight over money they get from their dad. And they've grown up in a world where titles matter, so of course they are going to fight over that too. Will is going to be king. Of course he's going to get more privileges and more money. Harry seems like a dim-witted, spoiled brat who never understood that and lets it bother him to this day. It's not fair, I guess, but nothing about a monarchy in 2020 is fair or logical.

I saw that too, R69. When you hear the royal reporters speaking directly, it's often interesting. Of course, they have a vested interest to appear in the know, but it's clear that they must have a lot of inside information. I hadn't realized, for example, that some of them often speak one-on-one with the main characters.
In one of those interviews (maybe this one) the reporter mentioned that William was upset that Harry was given his Commonwealth position (whatever it was) by Granny. So it's not just money and Meghan tensions between them.

Does Harry have a bit of Diana's charisma, R68? I think he had a run of being the cheeky royal bad boy, then the brilliant image rehab as boyish humanitarian. But now that he's a balding 30-something father, I don't think he can charm anyone by goofing around with kids or Usain Bolt. The puppyish dopiness that worked well when he was a lad is now embarrassing--see the Disney premiere pitch.
And instead of the empathy that Diana exuded when going about her good works, Harry seems to place himself at the center of it all ("can't get up in the morning", "traumatized by flashing lights").

I agree R73 he has very little of Diana's magic. Whether she felt it or it was a bloody good act, you can truly see she was a gifted people person.
Harry, in contrast, comes across as a simpering, vengeful, entitled sod. See the mess they made of their Africa tour, him spending 15 minutes in a hospital as a blatant photo op then telling off a reporter who called him on it. He does not exude empathy and compassion like Diana, more like self-pity and anger.

Harry is getting downright ugly as he pushes past 35 - balding frizzy hair, beady little close-set eyes like his grandfather's, scraggly teeth . . . he looks like he doesn't bathe often enough. Charisma??
These two may or may not turn up wealthy on their own, it remains to be seen, but they ought to hope they do, because by the time they hit their mid-forties the public are going to be so done with them and their boring, fridge-magnet pontificating and still trying to make bank on their long-ago days as real royalty, despite probably not having seen Harry's family for the better part of ten years.
Looking forward to the christening of the second kid, which will probably be born in the US, and whilst Charles may hike over the Pond for it, the godparents will be all Meghan's celebrity pals - and Meghan, I assure you, won't keep THOSE names secret.
Or maybe Harry and Charles will draw a line in the sand and insist Meghan have the baby in Britain.

(I will not give my opinion on what the best school in the country is because that would cause a bitchfest nearly as big as keeping bread in the fridge or draining pasta.)

R91, that’s what I wonder. I’ve had this argument here, already. They claim Northwestern is “an elite university”, practically Ivy League.
As you said, it’s a good school. “Elite” is stretching it.
Their alumni must be fiercely loyal. And slightly delusional.

I've heard that too, and its simply not true. Good school, yes. Elite, hardly. Not even close.

I can’t wait until they start in on the US press. Will they use Sunshine Sachs again? Or has she burned that bridge, as well?

Leicas are cameras for doctors and people with more money than brains.
Harry's using a Fujifilm X100.

The NY Post’s Isabel Vincent (a Canadian!) reported that MM would be making multiple guest appearances on Mulroney’s wedding show. Other outlets (Markle-friendly ones like Town and Country and Glamour) rushed to deny this.
Where do these stories come from? How could a Canadian investigative reporter for a huge daily just make up a story like that, out of whole cloth? Not even a tease or speculation, but stated as a fact.

I'm really curious about that too r100
by Anonymous | reply 101 | February 2, 2020 1:05 PM

Maybe because it was a total fabrication, R100, but the Post published it even after CTV denied it?

It's bad for her because it got legs, denials or not. Her reputation isn't good enough for her to get the benefit of the doubt. Whatever really happened, who doesn't believe it more likely than not that for a period of time she was somehow right in the middle of Mattel Mulroney's tacky TV show? She's an opportunist with poor judgement. Of course she was in the mix.

Deny. Deny. Deny.
And Imelda Staunton wasn't playing the Queen in the last series of The Crown.
Until she was.

I‘ll bet anything that the stupid bitch ends up convincing Ginger to agree to do a reality tv show similar to the Osbournes.

What I imagine, in my fevered conspiracy theory imagination, is that the NY Post was fed one story. And her favorite outlets were fed the denial. People talk about it and tune in to see “will she or won’t she?”
Even getting on the bad side of the NY dailies won’t hurt her. All she has to do is claim they’re racist.

R100 - The tabloids do make stuff up out of whole cloth, routinely. The problem is, they also report "real" stories based on "leaks". The problem is telling one from the other.
E.g., the stories with titles like, "Kate Feels This That or the Other" and stories like it are made up, as one thing Kate knows how to do is keep her mouth shut. She probably doesn't tell anyone except her husband, sister, and mother how she really feels and none of them would then rush to call the DM. Ditto for stories about what the Queen is feeling, or William, or Charles. In fact, William has been known to "leak" false stories to selected individuals and then, if it hits the tabloids, he knows who the traitor is and cuts him off.
But stories like the appearance on the Ellen Show (which EdG never denied although everyone else did) and the endorsement company are harder to pin down as wholly made up. Either someone is leaking false info or there is or was a grain of truth and once it leaked the Harkles rowed back on a decision, at least for the time being.
Stuff like "Meghan and Harry are hoping to move to L.A." - well, duh, that's like announcing a story that the baby will be a boy or a girl. It's a good guess.
So you have your totally made up stories, stories based on leaks by sources (like Dan Wooten at the SUN having the early scoop on the Harkles leaving the BRF), and stories based on very good guesses that may or may not be based on leaks.
It's easy to spot the "Kate Incredibly Hurt By . . ." and "Queen admires Meghan so much she's going to write her a letter saying so!" stories as made up bullshit that the BRF wouldn't bother to deny, or they'd be doing it every day.
But the genuine leaks v. good guesses are harder to spot.

R107, agree. The latest was regarding whether H&M deserved a curtsy/bow now that they’re not using titles.
Their antagonism toward the press is ill-advised.

Prefernces in a tiara? I missed that. I did notice years ago they sell tiaras at Harrod's. Anyone can be a queen in England.
