Why is Datalounge more racist than Reddit and The Misc forum?

Why are LSA transplants homophobic? They're black; it doesn't make sense.

It’s main population is older white American men. In the west, the most oppressive group has been white men. These men might be gay, but they were raised and hid in that world.

But, there are also a bunch of trolls that litter this site. Most men on here are compassionate or at least give a nuanced reason for their views. This site has some hilarious queens with more detailed topics about things you can’t get, tot he same hilarious degree, on any other site.

If you block the few instigators you will see it's just a few people. The paid trolls from Russia who speak English and use propaganda to influence the election of Donald Trump and the few really racist Americans who fall for it.

Remember, this is a country that elected Obama twice. You have to hand it to the Russians. Very clever to pretend to be Americans and influence Americans. I would bet at least half of the anti- sentiment online is fanned by Russian propagandists.

And almost all of those non-racist Misc posters voted for Trump and would do it again in a heartbeat. At least most of the "racist" posters on this site didn't vote for Trump. Plus, the Misc is a heavily moderated forum.

I think it's mostly just a few loud trolls. I have some on ignore and I don't see much racism now.

Forums that allow for anonymous posting tend to attract extreme voices.

Reddit users have a user name and while it's possible to have several accounts, that's a lot of work for most people.

On DL no one can track who says what from thread to thread and the "ignore" function is often useless.

So a lot of it is people saying shit they don't actually believe just to be temporary trolls and the other half is the "I may be gay but at least I'm not black/Jewish/Italian/Catholic/effeminate" category. It's been an effective strategy in the South where wealthy whites have gotten poor whites to fight with poor blacks rather than have them team up together against the wealthy people who keep them down

Slavery ended quite abrupbtly leaving a lot of whites in the lurch. Gays especially are not built to do physical work. Some resentment still lingers in the gay community. I think we agree that slavery was cruel and it needed to end.

DL is definitely racist at times. And very bigoted too. But when you see something, people are going to respond, and then it bec6this big thing.

I think a lot of people respond out of hurt feelings, and they say things they don't really mean. But it ends up turning into a big shit show.

That's my take.

There ought to be a way you can block certain keywords. The giveaways that trolls use.
