Then after reporting this and it being investigated with very incriminating evidence against him, she decided not to testify against him in the criminal case, but the civil case went forward. They ended up settling, but the most she could receive was $2.5 million. We will never know, but she was already from a wealthy family.

In the end, Kobe said he was guilty of adultery.

OP, the rape allegation happened two years into the marriage. Even without a prenup, I doubt she would have gotten more than $5 million, maybe a house. Kobe, today, is worth more than a half billion dollars.

My point is that Vanessa doesn't automatically get it all. There could be trusts for the kids. Bequests to any number of foundations. Hell, he could have even screwed her over and only given her the houses. Only his lawyers know. A man that rich will have made arrangements.

California is a community property state. For the most part, anything that came into Kobe's ownership during his long marriage is also owned by his wife, now widow. He could afford the best financial planners, but they would still have to plan around that. If Kobe was worth $800 million at the time of his death, then his wife is, too.
