Up-and-coming actor, Robert Francis, 25, piloted a Beechcraft Bonanza out of Lockheed Air Terminal (now Burbank Airport) and immediately crashed into a parking lot, where it burst into flames, killing all three onboard, including starlet Ann Russell, 24. Francis did not possess a pilot's rating or certificate, and the CAA determined the cause to be pilot error. 1955.

American actress and singer, Grace Moore, known as "The Tennessee Nightingale," Danish actress Gerda Neumann, and Prince Gustaf Adolf of Sweden were on board a KLM Douglas DC-3 when it crashed upon take-off at Krastrup Airfield in Copenhagen, Denmark. Apparently, the crew forgot to remove the gust locks that secured the aircraft's elevators in place when parked. Oops! 1947.

Notice the eviscerating of (or disembodied) internal organs, due to high impact. These photos aren’t worse than the 9/12 jumpers, however. The people who jumped to their deaths from the Twin Towers looked like broken watermelons.

I’d rather go out fast than slow. Terrible way to die, but I’ve witnessed slow deaths, and it’s very uncomfortable for the person dying. Not that I have any say in the matter, but if I had to choose, I’d choose quick and painless.

Carlos Gardel, famous Argentinian singer. A small plane carrying him and a number of his associates crashed in Medellin, Colombia in 1935.

Maybe not celebrities, but the entire (minus four) Brazilian soccer team Chapecoense died in a plane crash in Medellin, Colombia. They became celebrities post-mortem.

The weird thing about JFK Jr. is that I believe I read Aristotle Onassis's son died in a plane crash as well.

Another crash I remember was Susan Saint James's husband and sons in a crash, one of which died. A more recent one was DJ AM and Travis Barker.

The two white girls died in a plane crash in 2001. The third member of the band you can see here in the video survived with burns.

When Joan Jett and Tori Amos both went down in that Arab's private jet, my mother about lost her mind with grief. They were her two favorite bald lady singers. Well Tori could sing I think.

Kyu Sakamoto died in a place crash in 1985. It was the worst single-airplane crash ever with 520 perishing. His greatest hit was Sukiyaki, as it was known outside of Japan.
