Reporters and Activists Are Being Harassed for Saying Kobe Bryant Was Credibly Accused of Rape

For someone with a BA from Harvard, she should have a better sense of how public opinion works Especially being a white woman coming out against a black man loved and revered by the general public .
by Anonymous | reply 1 | January 28, 2020 12:58 AM |
It’s inappropriate. The man and his daughter just died. His family is grieving an unimaginable loss.
None of these reporters give a shit about what happened. They just want sjw points for kicking someone when they’re down.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | January 28, 2020 1:47 AM |
OP I don't think it's just the women who are harassed online. It's more likely that they are the only ones who complain. If men would complain about "online harassment", most people would laugh at them. How sexist.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | January 28, 2020 1:52 AM |
Well they’re purposely taking advantage of his death to make their names known. If they truly gave a shit about what he did they would’ve written about it before his death.

Yes all of that black privilege that gave us. President Trump, an overtly racist white supremacist president.
Speaking of whom, the media is not talking about the dozens of credible sexual assault allegations against our current president and perhaps our future president. They are not focused on keeping a rapist out of the White House but they are focused on attempting to re-litigate a rape trial that was dismissed because the accuser refused to testify, after Kobe Bryant and his young daughter and 9 other people are tragically killed.
How many people have suffered terribly and died because of the incompetent menace in chief. Whom the media helped put in office and whom they will gladly help again.

by Anonymous | reply 12 | January 28, 2020 2:32 AM |
It is his legacy. He is a rapist and I suspect that wasn't the only time. He just got better about covering it up.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | January 28, 2020 2:44 AM |
Right after he died, I was driving and I heard him described on CNN as a great family man, how his relationship with his wife was a great romance...I kept thinking, “you mean the rapist who famously gave his wife a huge ring as a consolation prize after he was revealed as a rapist? And then having been paid off, she just ‘forgot’ her husband was a rapist? That guy? That’s the great family man?” They described him as a moral role model. Seriously. A lot of women heard that and couldn’t believe the whitewashing of his actual history.
I’m sorry, but once again women are being shut up and told that rape doesn’t matter, someone is a great family guy who’s actually a rapist, why are women such party poopers when it comes to rape? Why can’t they understand he was only having fun, it’s not a big deal? Shut up and quit complaining.
A woman got suspended for reporting the truth. I thought reporters were supposed to report the truth, and not get punished for it. All these people complaining about Trump lying every two minutes, or minimizing the sexual assaults he committed, think it’s fine when a basketball player does it. That’s the height of hypocrisy.
I feel sorry for his wife, but she’s well aware she chose to stay with a rapist. Don’t know why we should have to cover up reality for her. As far as the truth hurting her children, again, it’s not a secret what he did. She knew and chose to stay with him for money. Now she wants to avoid the consequences of her actions, and the rest of us are supposed to suspend reality so she can avoid being a grownup.
What do you think they’ll say when Bill Clinton dies? “He was the greatest husband ever. Perfect family man. Monica Lewinsky? Never heard of her”?
Come on. Kobe is not above all possible criticism.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | January 28, 2020 4:15 AM |
Look at it this way. Michael Jackson had children too. Didn’t stop people from reporting the child molestation and drug abuse accusations when he died. Everybody knew his family could hear. Didn’t stop reporters from reporting his whole history, not just the flattering parts. That’s their job.
Athletes are not exempt from all possible criticism. There’s nothing about throwing a ball in a ring that makes a man a saint.

That's what I said in an earlier thread. Whether one believes it or not, they had years to write articles about this. Even when he retired, they could've written things. They would've gotten shit then, but not like this. There is absolutely no point in doing this now because whatever message they think they're sending will be lost due to their choice of timing and how his end came. He's dead. The rapist is dead along with his 13yo daughter and 7 other people. What have they accomplished in saying it? Nothing.
Learn to pick your battles - bad choice this time.

R17, when Bill Clinton dies, Hillary is going to be dragged through the mud all over again, even though she’s not the one that did the cheating. Republicans will rip her apart, criticizing her for having the audacity of being married to her own husband. They’ll bring up her emails, Monica Lewinsky and every other woman he ever slept with, ask those women for comments and most of them will be tactless enough to comment. Lewinsky will probably say something awful attacking Hillary. And nobody’s going to stop them. Nobody’s going to care how Hillary feels. They’ll do it anyway.
This idea that if someone misbehaved during their life, no one’s ever going to bring it up again, is not true. Republicans ended that. So virtually every person that acted up in their life is going to be called out for it when they die. It’s not the Victorian era any more. People know what happened and they’re going to talk about it. No point in shooting the messenger.

R35, this is because the black community barely has any current “famous” heroes.
Look at R Kelly... Unlike Kobe he isn’t even charismatic or even considered pleasant to be around him. Yet the black community protected him from any accusations for decades, If those accusations came from non black people, they got labeled as racists. So instead, non black people made jokes about R Kelly for decades before a black person finally had too much and called him out publicly.
Look at Cosby, it took nearly 40 accusations before black people kinda admitted he was a rapist. Hell, even black people who think Cosby is guilty still protect him. If you bring it up with them, they instantly change subject (but what about other rapists?!)
And then there’s white liberal women who only care because they want to be seen as woke.
One white female I know doesn’t even watch basketball and is a hardcore metoo supporter yet she is making posts on social media about how heartbroken she is despite never having even know what sport he played. Of course, she has no black friends so it’s only other white liberals pretending to be woke who are telling her they feel her pain too. But she’s getting tons of replies from other woke whites claiming they suddenly love Kobe.

[quote]If a white player had screamed 'fucking n*gger' at a ref, that white player would no longer be a Laker, and perhaps no longer an NBA player period. However, this should come as no surprise. As [R33] points out, Kobe is a rapist, so to hold him to civilized standards would be a mistake. The NBA and the Lakers will brush this aside ultimately. If they didn't get wound up about him violating a woman, they won't care about gays being offended.
[quote]And [R33], nobody's saying that you can't call him "nigger." And by all means, please do so loudly and somewhere in public. You know, away from your computer screen. Because as wrong as what Kobe said, he had the stones to say it in public and not hurl racist remarks online like a scared, prissy little queen.
Calling a black homophobe a nigger is more than justified in this case: it is a form of social justice. It's no different than calling white homophobes "crackers." Or is homophobia only wrong when crackers do it but niggers get a free pass for it because crackers enslaved them because they were too fucking lazy to pick their own goddamn cotton?

EVERY RACE IS COMPLICIT, so gays get to use racial slurs against EVERYONE. Free speech is a privilege we and we alone have earned.

The white race has done more to advance gay rights than every other race put together. That is a fact. The more you try to debate that fact, the stupider you look.

R93 Because, sweetie, screaming the n-word back at people who are screaming the f-word at us makes us no better than them. Gay men should have higher standards for our behavior than the insane and homophobic ghetto people. Normally I don't advocate for being the bigger man, but this is a time where we're not helping our case by fighting fire with fire... or bigotry with bigotry, in this case.
by Anonymous | reply 99 | January 28, 2020 12:48 PM |
"Don't fight fire with fire" is an idiotic cliché that has no connection to scientific reality:

R98 White people do have a better track record as far as gay rights goes than black people, but all the Stonewall in the world isn't going to convince me that we should be flinging racist insults in response to having homophobic insults flung at us. If you somebody is screaming at you and you don't respond it makes the screamer look crazy. If you both scream back at each other then it makes both of you look crazy.

That "you're no better" crap is just that: crap. That's exactly the point. Gays ARE better than those who hate us no matter what we do. We literally cannot be worse than our oppressors even if we tried. But after everything they've done to us, they have earned verbal retaliation.
Kobe was as guilty as Bill Cosby, O.J. Simpson, R. Kelly, and Jussie Smollett. The NBA paid off the LAPD to hush it up.
by Anonymous | reply 104 | January 28, 2020 12:52 PM |
Racism is not determined by what is being said but by who is saying it. Ergo, the word "nigger" is only racist when heterosexuals use it, not when gay people use it as payback for niggers who refuse to stop calling us faggots.
by Anonymous | reply 105 | January 28, 2020 12:53 PM |
R104 You're right that we cannot be worse than our oppressors, but we can be something worse than that: we can be at their level.
Kobe is guilty. This is a fact. But if a black person calls you a faggot for saying that, you don't turn to them and call them the n-word. The oppressed copying the oppressors makes us look like assholes instead of victims.

News flash: if someone agrees to have sex with you, that doesn't mean they've signed a contract with you to do whatever you feel like doing, whether you want to or not. Anal sex is just not part of the standard repetoire of a heterosexual one night stand and Kobe knew it. He just felt like humiliating that woman and causing her some pain and humiliation for his own amusement. Just because he legally got away with it doesn't make it right or mean that he's not a sadistic sexual abuser.

In any #metoo (or #metoo adjacent) DL thread, most of the comments show absolutely no sympathy for the woman who accused a known [bold]serial[bold] predator, demand that people get over it because it happened 'so long ago', and bemoan "Cancel Culture". But suddenly, we're supposed to believe that DL commentators give a shit about the woman Kobe raped, give a shit about the safety of females in general, understand the nuances of consent and power imbalances, don't think a nearly 20-year old accusation is too old to still be bringing up, and want Kobe canceled? Most of you are just attention-seeking contrarians that desperately want to be seen as a special little snowflake for going against the trend. If you genuinely give a shit about sexual assault victims, you'll keep this same level of outrage the next time Kevin Spacey, Casey Affleck, or some other Hollywood figure gets accused.

Get off your high horse, r145. No one has any problem calling white men out on sexual abuse, and because they're white, no one makes a big deal out of it, including white people. But if a black celebrity gets accused of something (Kobe, Bill Cosby, MJ), black people go into meltdown mode and talk about the accused like he was a saint.
by Anonymous | reply 148 | January 28, 2020 2:45 PM |
Anytime a black man is accused of sexual assault people claim racism and that he's being persecuted due to being a black man. This is how R. Kelly was able to evade the law for so long despite his very public relationship with the underage and non-consenting Aaliyah (he raped her in public and on camera, let's not forget) and how he was able to evade prison after being videotaped pissing on a little girl for sexual pleasure. Black rapists hide behind the race card.

She can pursue him, she can have an active sex life. She can dress how she wants. He is a grown married man with children. He has the option of saying No thanks I am married. Why is he absolved of all guilt while she gets labeled a homewrecking whore? He left visible bruising on her neck, she had vaginal contusions and bruising. Even if she told him "I want you to assault me" He can say no. He should never be in that position. Just because he died does not erase the terrible things he has done. To quote Bette Davis - why should I be nice to her just because she died?

A bunch of BernieBros took to Twitter to say that Kobe was simply a rich millionaire whose death was actually good because he was rich, and all the richies should die, because they think that's what socialism is all about. "If you care then you're a capitalist dupe" etc. etc.
They didn't get even a fraction of the hate that women journalists who merely tweeted legitimate news articles did. That was pretty telling.

[quote]But if a black celebrity gets accused of something (Kobe, Bill Cosby, MJ), black people go into meltdown mode and talk about the accused like he was a saint.
Bill Cosby was outed by black comic Hannibal Burress although he had been before that time people listened.
And most black people know MJ had major issues (and many black comics have talked about it) but that didn't stop white people from doing the Thriller Dance at weddings.
But let someone point out something about Elvis chasing after 14 year old girls and people lose their minds. Mick Jagger, Steven Tyler, David Bowie and other have had similar allegations.
With Kobe there were black and white people upset about reporters pointing out his rapist past.
It's not always a "black and white" thing.

Men do not fuck whores to make love, they want a good nut. Will Smith allegedly tore up some guys asshole, but he kept that that shit out of the media.
Kobe was a damn fool to sleep with that woman. He knew he had roughneck tendencies and shouldve just stuck with this regular mistress who could handle and enjoyed that kind of stuff. He was horny and greedy 25 year old. I remember him being so rude and smug at this time. If he would've died then it would've been a different story.

by Anonymous | reply 159 | January 28, 2020 3:44 PM |
Who are all these people claiming “she asked for it” or “she deserved it”? She was a hotel maid. So hotel maids are there for the raping, for any entitled celebrity? He was choking her. He was a big guy and there’s no way she could have gotten away.
This is what women find so offensive. That any woman that crosses the path of a celebrity should be collateral damage, their injuries just laughed off and mocked by the celebrity’s fans. That’s sick.
Anyone who put a celebrity’s whims above another person’s safety is just nuts. The reason he died is that he insisted on flying on an unsafe for flying, bad weather day, and the pilot went along, and now they’re all dead, including his daughter’s classmates and their parents, who probably thought “if Kobe is flying, it must be safe. His pilot must be the best.” But nobody can control the weather, famous or not.
His entitlement is what killed him in the end, and unfortunately a lot of other people with him.

Ma’am come back when the majority of this country’s white population isn’t continuing to support the serial sexual predator and rapist that they elected president, even after a dozen allegations and his grab them by the pussy tape. No you are completely missing the point r162. Whether she was on her job or not is completely irrelevant. That woman WANTED to have sex with Kobe Byrant in that moment. She gave him permission to have sex with her. Rape is a non consensual act where someone is forced against their will. There are real rape victims out there who have not consented. This woman made it harder for those people to come forward, the severity of this crime is not taken seriously because of people like her! Being promiscuous is fine, but you do not get to accuse anyone of rape when you are having consensual sex with them. NO.

In her account of the incident the victim consented to being kissed but not to Bryant unexpectedly grabbing her by her throat, bending her over a chair, and shoving his dick inside her. I don't care what bullshit people want to spout about the justice system being racist next time a black celebrity is on trial, Kobe is living (well not anymore but) proof that being a rich celebrity gets you out of anything, no matter the color of your skin.

R165 the accuser went to a party after the encounter and bragged that she fucked Kobe. She also talked about how huge his cock was. That is quite damning in terms of lying about what had happened to her.

[quote]Why the flying fuck are Gay men defending a piece of shit rapist homophobe? Like do you idiots hate yourselfs[sick] that much?
First, he made amends for the use of that word ten fucking years ago. Perhaps if you actually gave a shit, you'd know that, but he's black so he's not allowed to redeem himself.
Second, if he were white, his race wouldn't even be brought up by most of the racist shits who make up this site and this thread wouldn't be this hateful. On the contrary, they'd be lusting for him if he were actively homophobic. Most of the fucking white athletes are hardcore Republicans, but I guess that's OK with this site as they post threads about them and drool away.
Third, the rape thing is used as a cudgel specifically because he's black and a supposed "homophobe" and while some are defending him, I don't on this matter. I think bringing it up when he's dead is meaningless because he doesn't hear you. Only his wife and surviving kids hear you and there's no point in further hurting them. These reporters had years to do this and stupidly chose a time when he's dead.
Fourth, "yourselfs" isn't a word, ignoramus.

His wife and mother of his children is a white latina. You can save all the overwrought black victim angle on everything. If he cared that much about his blackness, he would have been with a black woman.

R179, you don’t speak for gay men. You probably speak for a certain subset type Of gay men, but many, many bi and gay men are very much unlike you.
